Hi,
This is my very first post on xda. Woohoo!
Anyways, I've never liked the stock messaging app on the optimus black, but I really love samsung's stock messaging interface with the blue and yellow text bubbles and the dark bg. Is it possible for me to install their stock messaging app? Or can I theme my stock messaging app to look like samsung's?

Hey guys! Can anyone here can modify and fix the droidsms apk that can be found in the market? It has sent display bug and i can't change my display picture although the sender display pictures is okay. Droidsms sms apk looks great for having light blue and white bubble. It's way better than handcent sms apk.

Yes. I don't know, how much you know, so if you need a more detailed explanation, just tell me.
But you know, that you need a rooted device, okay?
I explain, how to do this without xml editing, because it's easier and if you're lucky, it works fine without.
First copy the sms application from your phone to your computer.
Then replace the '.apk' with '.zip'.
Okay, now you should be able to open the app with winrar or 7zip.
Navigate to the drawable hdpi folder. There you can find all images. (Some are located at no dpi and land dpi too.) Now do the same with a samsung sms app. (You can get it by extracting it from a samsung stock rom.) Simply replace the images with the images of the samsung app.
Maybe you have to change the names, because the new images must have the names of the old images.
And it's important, that you choose as compression methode 'none'. (The default option is 'normal'.)
The last step is, to rename it again to '.apk' and replace the old sms app on your phone. But do a backup of the app before.

Hi everyone, before trying to install any stock camera apps..
Backup your all current photos and videos that were on DCIM, otherwise you will lose all data in DCIM
You can recover those with some software, but you can't get open them
Suggesting you, as I have faced this problem..

Hey all,
I dont know if anybody is interested, but here is a working version of the Touchwiz4 Launcher that I can confirm works on the ns4g. I am using right now on MIUI. This is pulled from a rpm that I used to use on my epic. It is fully functional, no problems that I can find.
I did not develop this, I simply pulled it from a rom on my epic.
Credit goes to marcusant and whoever the original porter was.

I backed up the original as email.apk.bak so it is there to redo, but didn't remove any other email items from other folders.
Hey thanks for the port,
Quick question I'm already rooted, the apk installed without a problem, but I only get two apps at the home screen. Sms and app drawer. Can't put phone or any other shurtcut plus i also don't have touchwiz widgets.
I'm rooted and in stock rom, do i have to be in a deodexed rom?
Thanks

Anyone found a way to put one of the gingerbread talk inversion on here? I have inverted gmail and market but haven't gotten a Talk to work. Do we need a themer to actually invert the Talk2.apk that came with the ota/leaked update?

I use B Boys work over on Droidforums. Just to be safe I extract the app from his .zip format and use rootexplorer to rename the original files in system/app to .bak, move the new files in place and set permissions to match the original, then go in to applications under settings and clear the cache and data on the app in question. Reboot and voila you have inverted market and gmail. I believe b boy also just updated gmail to the newest one on the market.
Also, be sure to have a backup, even though you are leaving the originals in as .bak, just in case something goes wrong, as it can happen when you least expect it.
Enjoy

This is definitely a step in the right direction. But even with 8ms and changing the icon, we lose the unread count on the icon.
I've tried searching for some type of xposed framework mod to just darken the stock messaging app but alas.. Nothing.
Sent from my XT1080m using xda-developers app.
I was able to pull the mms.apk from an eclipse rom rom the Razr HD. its inverted..and has a lot of extra features. However..the app crashes if you remove or rename the stock messaging app. so what I did was leave the stock messaging app and turn off all notifications and simply hide it with Nova. Now i have the darkened inverted goodness i want with full functionality.
edit: nevermind. it works..but its receiving messages twice for some reason. Fail.

I thought the same thing...but I haven't suggested it..espec because there are so many roms that GB supports
The problem is the stock system is odex like most stock systems are and themed apps do not usually play nice with odex system. Most of the times a dev will put out a deoxed rom or there is a way to deoxed the entire system, What is always interesting about Moto is they have specific odex version of apps like Motoemail, MotoMms and others that make simply dropping in themed apps problematic. I hope this answers your question. I am working on a theme for the Mini right now that takes out the green and replaces with blue LOL I hate that green!

My current ROM (CyanogenMOD 7.2) came with QuickPic replacing the stock gallery, as many ROMs do. However either I don't know how to use it, or the app is crap, because everytime I try to apply an image as wallpaper using QuickPic, it comes too stretched, even if the image is the exact resolution of the Ace (320x480). Can someone tell me another gallery that behaves like stock? Or if I can get the stock one again?

I personally never had problems with quickpic..are you using the latest version?
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda app-developers app
In my opinion Quickpic is the best gallery app I have ever used.. But still if you're having problems do what Blackbox421 has suggested..
Try using Gallery ICS app..
If you already have the wallpaper that's resized for your ace, cropping it would only make it look worse. Drag n adjust the box that appears on the image when you choose to set a wallpaper & see to it that it covers the entire image. Now set the wallpaper.
Quickpic is the ultimate app. You do not know how to use it.

Here is my themed transparent MotoMms. You must be rooted and have an unlocked bootloader to flash the zip. I would suggest going into your system/app folder and saving your MotoMms and the odex file some place else before flashing mine, just in case. Once that is done then make sure you are in WP bypass mode and flash away, enjoy! You can also go into your system/app folder and change the MotoMms.apk to MotoMms.apk.bak and the leave the odex file alone, then flash the zip once in WR bypass mode, let me know if you have any problems sometimes it takes a few tries.
**Note** some of my text is blue, yours will be all white!
This is the original odex version of MotoMms.apk, so if your not running that specific Mms then it may do nothing for you.

Any chance you could list what files you modified to get the clear background? I'd like the default MMS, but with a dark holo theme. I've decompiled the apk, but I'm not sure what file is the background.png. Also, which xml controls the text color? I appreciate your help!
Sure, I am taking a final right now, but will go into more detail later,,,right off the bat you have to change some png's in res/drawable xhdpi, some xml's in res/layout dealing with android background to a clear hex code like #00000000, and finally in res/ values, change the coding to let the wallpaper see through. Hope this helps, PM me and I can go into more detail. All of the changes can be made the same way to make it look inverted if you like.
