Hey guys,
I screwed up my Incredible S, I'm stuck in the HTC screen and if I volume down+power, it goes to that hboot screen and if I select recovery, I go to revolutionary (so I can't warranty)...
I tried using A LOT of "stock" roms, tried RUU etc but nothing seems to be working...
Also, it used to be on the optus 2.3.5

What are you trying to accomplish? Are you trying to restore back to stock for warranty?
If so, you need to follow this procdure so that you can overwrite the Revolutionary HBOOT with an RUU.

Well, the phone doesn't work at all at the moment so getting it back to work would be good. If it's getting it back to stock then sure, I'll do that
"1. Install RUU ROM from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1033922"
Link doesn't work =/
I'm assuming it is this one: RUU_Vivo_Gingerbread_S_Optus_AU_2.12.980.2_R_Radio _20.2803.30.085AU_3805.04.03.12_M_release_185028_s igned
My phone was running optus before I stuffed it.
Also, what do I do to install, if I run RUU and follow the steps, it will just and and say it can't do it. Do I copy the rom.zip file and rename it to PG32IMG.zip then put it on a USB and go to bootloader?
I seem to be getting "signature verify fail"...
This thread seems to look exactly like my problem but it seems to be much more confusing...

OK, start the process beginning at Step 2. Don't worry about step 1 for now.
So first you need to prepare the Revolutionary HBOOT to be overwritten by following step 2.
Then you should be able to run the RUU or as you stated, extract the ROM.zip, rename it PG32IMG.zip on your SD card and boot into bootloader.

Here is a link to the optus 2.3.5 ruu http://d-h.st/cGj
You're not s-off if you're getting signature error. Were you ever s-off or just unlocked bootloader? If unlocked bootloader only, you will have to lock it before running the ruu.
How exactly do you "downgrade HBOOT"?
I managed to install virtuous quattro yesterday but then...my WiFi, parts of the touchscreen and the bottom 4 touch buttons don't work.
Strange problem.

Boy you are all over the board on this thread. First you asked how to get back to stock s-on for warranty and now you are asking about downgrading the hboot to go back to s-off.
You have been given links for removing Revolutionary S-Off and flashing the Optus RUU. I suggest you follow those to get your phone straightened out first before going any further.

INTRODUCTION
It seems that a lot of Canadians are having this problem, so I decided to make a guide on how to bypass it. For my guide on flashing RUUs on the Canadian IS, click here.
THE PROBLEM
People with a Canadian Incredible S are continually getting the "Model ID Incorrect" error. This error occurs because the Canadian IS has the model ID PG3212000 while it seems every other IS has the ID PG3213000, which is blocking us from installing it... But luckily there is a way to fix this error.
THE SOLUTION
NOTE: It seems many people are having problems. After reflashing my phone and S-OFF'ing it again I had the same problem. Turns out ENG S-OFF is needed for this! Find out how to install it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1070348
To install a PG3213000(Any non-Canadian Incredible S) radio on a PG3212000(a Canadian Incredible S) follow these instructions:
1. go to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12870734&postcount=1 and download whichever radio matches your rom...
2. extract the file you just downloaded and open up the file called: "android-info.txt" in WORDPAD...
3. In the text file change the first line saying "modelid: PG3213000" to "modelid: PG3212000" and go File -> Save.
4. Rezip the file and make sure you call it: "PG32IMG.zip". Copy it the root of your SD card.
5. Reboot your phone in bootloader and let it install... DONE!

which one do you find works best with the bell is?
It all depends on what ROM you're using... You always want to use the radio recommended for the ROM... if it's a RUU, the radio is already in it.
I'm on the Virtuous Unity 1.26.0 ROM and oddly enough there isn't a reccomended ROM.
Also is this way any different than extracting the radio image and pushing it through fastboot?
Both have the same results, but this doesn't require andriod sdk, any work in command prompt, or ENG S-OFF... And I would recommend the 20.2804.30.085AU_3805.04.03.22_M radio
I was wondering how to do this since I need to update my radio to install CM7. Thanks so much for the tutorial!!
Hey can you use this guide when trying to flash a ruu? It never works when trying to flash a RUU because of Model ID incorrect... I am stuck in bootloader because of that...

I have tried that before and it did not seem to work... All it did was install the HBOOT and radio from the RUU and then it rebooted my phone...So essentially all it did was revert my phone back to S-ON... I will keep playing around with RUUs and will release a guide if/when I figure out how to flash them.

Reflash a Gingerbread radio... Unfortunately it is currently impossible to downgrade your radio from Gingerbread to Froyo... It will put you into a never ending boot up loop.
Wait... Are you saying you successfully flashed a GB RUU? How?

No it doesn't work... It was only when I was S-Off that I installed Android Revolution rom and that upgraded me to gingerbread... Well after that I accidently did a hard reset which removed my S-off and I am now stuck in bootloader with ***Security Warning***. The only way to fix it is by flashing a stock RUU but since this is Bell IncS only Sasktel rom works and I cannot flash that because I get the error "Main Version is Older" error.
Noob here. What's RUU?

I don't know what you can do to fix that, unfortunately... Post a question in the general forum and hope that someone can help you out with more information...
Edit: :O maybe that's why the RUU didn't complete the installation and rebooted my phone! The radio was newer then the version in the Optus RUU?!?! Omg that might have been my problem...

RUU is an acronym for ROM Update Utility... It is an official update for the phone which makes it as though it was new and seem like it was never tampered with(no root, no custom recovery, not custom HBOOT, returns you to S-ON, etc).
I believe this has been posted elsewhere, but if you are unable to flash your radio AND you are already ENG S-OFF the following works perfectly.
Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WIWVHF7O
Make sure HTC Sync is installed
Extract ZIP to a folder and from that folder run the following:
1. Connect your phone into a PC, and make sure that USB Debugging is enabled
2. Type: "adb reboot bootloader"
3. Once your phone is in bootloader (white screen with text), type "fastboot flash radio radio.img"
4. When the flashing completes, type "fastboot reboot"
This works on any version of the IS, including the Canadian one. I included the recommended radio, however any radio can be used by replacing the radio.img file.
Other radios here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14834003&postcount=1

Yes, I know, but this makes it so that ENG S-OFF is not required as it is a little bit overkill... Plus, I used this as my basis in an attempt to installing RUUs on the Canadian version of the IS, since I was told it is not possible unless I XTC clip it... I proved those people wrong.
It doesn't seem to work for me.
I edited the android-info.txt file, re-zipped and placed the file onto the sd card. When I reboot into hboot, it says "Loading PG32IMG.zip" then "Parsing" then nothing else happens.
EDIT: Never mind, I got it to work using the other method.

Ah, ok! I will try it!
I was trying to obtain S-off through Juopunut Bear, but after it finds my device and tries to reboot it into its program, it simply doesn't reboot. The phone then will not start at all unless I pull the battery and boot into Hboot. From there I flashed my backup img through fastboot and I was good. I found this thread that said I need to ICS 3.32 firmware. On my phone I noticed I am on Software number 3.26.502.56, so I tried to flash the provided download of 3.32 using fastboot. And it did the same exact thing! Would not reboot, and had to battery-pull and re-flash my backup to get it to work.
What is my problem here?
I am on a unlocked and rooted HTC Vivid running stock ICS and stock Kernel.
I really hope I am not committing a stupid error and wasting everyone's time, but it is possible. Thanks in advance for any help!

Yes if you are having problems after any mod to the os just relock the bootloader and run the stock ruu file and it will fix the issue , then go back after you got the phone working right and then unlock the bootloader , flash recovery , root , ect .
But the s-off should stay off and you won't have to redo that step .
So basically you will be on a stock ics with s-off
Then just redo the process to get it where you want it .

did you succeed s-off ?
if you did the s-off procedure via " wire trick " was successful the relocking the boot loader will not change the s-off it will stay off ,
Then relock. Run ruu now you are stock ics with the s-off still , and all the errors should be fixed .
Then just re unlock bl , flash recovery , root , flash New custom Rom / kernel, ect.
All I'm saying is if you have s-off then your good ,
To fix all the errors run the ruu , only reason you need to relock bl is the ruu will reject the install if you are unlocked .

I had trouble on my first S-OFF attempt. I had made a mistake (I missed one of the S-OFF prep steps in section 2 of the SuperGuide, which is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416836 ).
If you want to try again?
-If you have relocked your bootloader, flash your phone stock using your appropriate RUU while phone is in Fastboot mode.
*** If you haven't relocked bootloader yet, you can do it first via fastboot ("fastboot oem lock")
-Start at section 1 of the superguide (unlocking the bootloader, yeah it sucks to do the process again but thankfully htc makes it easy!)
-And then you can try S-OFF process again (section 2 in superguide)

When I run the rumrunner program, I type 'Yes' twice then I get an error telling me to run rumrunner again and READ. What did I do wrong?
Recently I was working on returning my phone back to stock and I ended up using OMJ's encrypted 1.29.651.7 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250904). However, in order to flash an older ruu successfully I also had to trick the phone into believing that an older version was installed. I did it using dd through adb, but I can't find the thread with the info so I'll try to find that.
ok, so here's what I did:
first, I downloaded the encrypted 1.29.651.7 ruu
then, I used this trick to change the version recorded in the phone (I think I had to be root, but I don't remember) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2390821
I substituted 1.29.651.7 for the 1.29.651.10 shown in the link
then I relocked the bootloader and flashed the ruu according to the return to stock instructions.
Hopefully this helps you work it out, I'm not sure how much this will help you but it worked for me.

This didn't do it either. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME
I don't know if you can flash OMJ's firmware if your bootloader is set to "Relocked". I could be wrong but I think what you need to do is unlock it again first and install a recovery. Then flash OMJ's stock firmware from recovery. From there you can probably do the S-OFF process and RUU back to stock.
You do need to be able to boot into your ROM for S-OFF to work, as you start the S-OFF process while the phone is booted up and running.

Look HERE
hey yall I been searching and reading all forums on going back to stock. theres only regular sprint htc m8 version and nothing on the hk edition so I can get the new ota and remain on stock. ive lost my back up file when I upload a custom rom. ive tried a bunch of things like using ruu and that but kept getting an error like a 32 and a 99. I cant get the s-on to turn off to get more. idk if im doing something wrong or what but im hoping someone can shine some light this way and help me out. yes I tired the sunshine apk but it pops up need based rom etc. so.........
You have to relock to use an RUU when you're still S-ON, and you must make sure that you're using an HK RUU.

Yes, relock the bootloader (fastboot oem lock). That'll prevent the error 92 or whichever it was. It doesn't matter what recovery is on there, as the RUU will overwrite it with stock.

Did you review the instructions on how to flash it? I believe you extract the 0P6BIMG.zip from the larger zip file, and put it on your external SD.

You can try Firewater, but most likely you'll need to use SunShine.
