Could someone do a write up on editing moboot and then have it stickied? Because in searching, I can only find instructions for cm7. I'd like to know how to delete and edit entries as well as changing the theme.
Thanks.

I see themeing in video how tos. But not editing entries.
I just did this. This was the first result on Google for "edit moboot entries."
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/17104-how-to-edit-moboot-default-boot-from-android/
And this.

And at sstar's above link, open "Boot to WebOS by Default after installing CyanogenMod Android." And "Removing uImages."

To edit the order of booting in moboot, download, in webOs and preware, Cyboot. It lets you choose the order of booting and also set the time to first boot. As far as theming, you'll have to search. I've seen some threads about that, but can't remember the how to. If not here, you might want to try the webOS nation forum.
You can change your default moboot using root explorer and changing moboot files in systems root.

Hello,
as no one answered my question on the old "transition" animation for windows, i tried to do the job myself... so after i figured out, how the whole thing works ( at least i think it does. ) i tried replacing the files in the res/anim folder on the framework-res.apk in /system/framework... i had problems resigning the files, but somehow got it to work by placing the file in the same dir as resign.jar and running:
java -classpath testsign.jar testsign framework-res.apk
it worked without any errors... however on bootup, when trying to get into the lockscreen, it just keeps force closing EVERYTHING whenever it tries to start up... any suggestions?
i would recommend setting up the auto-signing tool that stericson posted in the themes section.

i've tried that one, it's the one that fails whenever i click "Resign APK" from the context menu.

Agreed. Right click/resign is a wonderful thing.
so.... the right click sign works now for me... but still, it won't boot up when ever i change something in the framework-res.jar.... (everything FCs on menu press from lockscreen)
how lame... no ideas at all?
Hi there
new to the touchpad and moboot and such but not new to hacking etc etc
i have searched and havent seem to find anything that is related to what i did....
i have successfully got android and such on my touchpad...
now my issue is i booted back into webOS and downloaded preware and cyboot... in cyboot i set it to default to boot into android. and the time out of moboot i set to 1 sec... the issue i am having is i cannot get into moboot anymore... its there but because its set to go into android right away there is no way for me to get into recovery or moboot at all
anyone know how i can reset moboot and get the timeout back to 5 secs or longer so i can choose my boot method, ex so i can get into recovery or webOS again...
thanks in advance everyone!
I think the cyboot app in PreWare will let you change the moboot settings from within WebOS.
Not sure if the timeout is one of the settings available though.
Edit: Sorry - didn't read original post properly. Now see you have used Cyboot but can't get back into it.

correct... i cant get into moboot...
i hit reboot or power down, and it just cycles right back into android... no way for me to get into moboot... thats my issue... i need to reset it in a way so i can get back into moboot
I recall there are some posts around on how to edit the moboot settings directly in android. One option may be reinstall moboot using ACMEInstaller?

everything i have read, they say that reinstalling moboot and ACMEinstaller doesnt solve the issue
got a link to how to edit the files/settings on android?
This thread may give some pointers, but it looks like it is fairly advanced - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399566&highlight=moboot+edit
I just did a search for 'moboot edit' - that may give you some more threads to follow.
Ok got it working now!
So what i needed to do was use root explorer to delete the moboot.next file and then edited the moboot.timeout file with text editor in root explorer and reset the time from 1 to 10
did a hard reboot with the power button and home button holding for 15secs and it booted into moboot!!
woohoooooo!!!!
I've read up on a couple of threads regarding altering Moboot but not hit on any definitive solution. I was running CM9 but decided to try a couple of the alternatives however, Moboot has remembered each version meaning I am left with Moboot menu with three versions of ICS on it and a version of TWRP which doesn't work!
How do I sort it guys?
Thanks in advance
at Rootzwiki theres a sticky called
"20767-how-tobugs-known-issues-and-workarounds-with-all-cm9-builds"
I don't have enough posts to link you.
Thanks for that, I'll check it out.
You have too many "uimages" in /boot that's probably why your twrp dosent work.
You can delete the u.image files you don't want from /boot with a file explorer, like deleting uimage.cyanogenmod will remove cyanogenmod from the moboot menu etc.
Or you could go to http://classictomatoe.net/classicnerd.net/Goodies/ and download the "Moboot uImage and TGA cleaner" I believe it cleans out the moboot entries for you, not sure if it will leave the cyanognmod behind though....
I had to hose my Touch pad, and reinstall CM9 and moboot. Now it default boots to WebOS. I would have edited moboot.default but it's not there. The path im looking in is /boot/ which has other moboot files, but neither moboot.default nor moboot.timeout are there.
I'm using X-plore for root browsing, fwiw.
Ideas?
Thanks!

i assume can still boot into android , DL an app called Rom Toolbox Pro (free version) That should show the files and allow you to edit . Or in webos DL Cyboot from preware as that will also allow you to change default boot and time out.
I hope this helps

You can just create the files yourself. It looks like you know what to edit and how to edit it from there.

Thanks. I thought about creating it myself, but I don't actually know what the syntax should be. Would someone mind pasting the contents of theirs into the thread?

Thanks, but it's not an issue of being unable to see the files. I'm using a root browser. It's just that they aren't there at all...

What about just reinstalling moboot to see if that will generate them ?

moboot.default (note capitalization):
Code:
CyanogenMod
moboot.timeout:
Code:
5
Sorry to double post, but another thing you might want to know: I think the timeout can only be a 0-9 value. I may be incorrect, but I think that a value above 9 will be ignored.

You can set a higher value for the timeout (mine is 15). I think it's 10 that you can't use, but not sure.
Make sure you have a CR/LF (press enter) at the end of the first line of each of those files. If it's just that, no enter, it could cause problems. They like the newline in order to work.
curently have cm9 with twrp 2.2. How do I start over and load the new ROMS that are out. Any help would be appreciated. I don't care about he current apps and don't have files I need to save. Can someone point me in the right direction? thanks
Please read at least the first page of this excellent guide and view the videos by Roland Deschain.

It contains all the info you need and and file links. either individually or as part of a package, which should make installation pain and stress free.
Have fun.

ACMEUninstaller2 (uninstalls Android and removes recovery, All versions) That's what it says in Rolands thread .
Yes you do need to install something else. But the files and info are all in his thread.
I know it's not easy reading but if you read just the first page your questions have already been answered.
