Galaxy S [CM9 - NightlyBuild 0715]

Hello everyone,
I have installed CM9 - Nightly0715 on GT-i9000 recently and I'm facing some small issues but for me, a bit annoying. Maybe you could help me to resolve it !
1/ Can we switch off the sound of camera when we take photos ? If no, nevermind.
2/ The front camera isn't working with Tango, I got a black screen.. Is it a known problem ? Any tips for resolving it ? Or a fix is coming soon ?

With a root explorer you can delete the ogg file
You can find it here /system/media/audio/ui/
Mine is named camera_click.ogg but the name can be different depending to the ROM

Why don't you flash it to the latest CM9 version (RC2 as of now) and try testing it there?

I already installed the "old" g-apps fixer, but it didnt help.

Sorry, problem solved...
First time flashing ICS to your Galaxy S (or coming from another ROM)?
Root your device and install ClockworkMod Recovery.
Reboot into Recovery using 3-button-combo
Do a Nandroid backup!
WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition)
Install the ROM from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery
Optionally install the Google Addon
WIPE again or Calendar Sync will not work.
i forgot the WIPE again...

Is your front camera working on the stock Camera app? I don't actually have tried Tango, but you can test it by installing other app that uses front camera to see whether its a ROM issue or an App issue.

For me it is working.

Try CM10 its smoother and faster with killer features like Google Now,Offline voice typing,Project Butter,New notifications let you , comment, or reshare without having to open the Google+ app. etc..

It should be done after clean wipe. I don't have any restart.
Camera is working fine for me
EDIT : is everyone facing camera issue or someone having OK Camera
Again Edit : I have added camera and camcorder screenshot and bulid.prop without tweaks if some one has problem.
Replace it in ROM, clean wipe and then install rom again

Infact after trying camera, I am facing random reboot also, means it get reboot when screen goes off .... don't know whats happening to my mobile.....
In fact now I am planning to install RC 3 again and then will try your CM 7 ... Meanwhile if other guys facing same problem..... please post the same here

I can but only tweaks are in build.prop not in any other file. so there is no logic to post it
Try pimping the rom. IT MY HELP

The problem is not with the camera but its restarts problem followed by using camera app ....

[MOD] Camera Hack - for better photos (CM10.1 compatible)

I was looking at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1855818 and I noticed that I can do sth. similar for CM10.1 too.
So it took camera.tegra.so and libnvmm_camera.so from cm10.1 and modified them. So the denoise filter is disabled.
The pictures now looks much sharper. I didn't make modifications to anything other.
I didn't tried it on cm10.2. (yet)
Here are modded .so files - works with CM10.1:

http://db.tt/LXdwvJUZ - libnvmm_camera.so paste to /system/lib
And of course set permissions: rw-r--r--

Wonder is this hack also work on stock JB too? The original version seems like only support upto ICS.

It's based on cm10.1 so it should work on cm10.1 based ROM and on stock JB.

Just tried it on my phone with stock JB (iodak v7 kernel), can't work, both camera and video recording show black screen then prompt out error fail to connect to camera.

CM based will not be supported on stock based...

I think it only work on CM 10.1.
I move all files and set persimission rw-r-r
On Stock CM 10.1 Camera auto focus doesnt work. But when I use Stock 20a Camera ported for CM 10.1 omg the quality improves alot and video also. With Stock 20a Camera all is working.

It's not misleading at all. CM uses vendor blobs of stock JB. The files are the same. It should work. It would need a bit investigation on why it didn't work for @kw930.

Well, personally I also think it's not possible to be used in stock JB (else iodak may not need so difficult to create his kernel in 2 version every time new update release). I gave it a try since it's just simply copy and paste the files through RE and feedback to the TS about the problem I found.

Tested it, now cm camera app makes better photos then LG camera app

Files are the same but the framework used is not...It needs to be ported....

This is common to all non-stock ROMs and without these files. Even I can't get 30 fps with werewolf 8 kernel and withoute these files (around 22 fps).

like i got to know lg, i'd bet they did a "security" sh*t to check for "original" blobs...

Could be too...Ive lost hope on lg camera app...Now i just stick with lenovo camera app port...At least it gives better pic...

Yes is to low. In original thread of this mod is explained. I'm still quite a noob in Android about coding so I can't tell all lot more.

I don't know, try and report. Before you do it make backup of these two files on your phone. Nothing worse can happend than message "can't connect to camera". If does happend replace with original files and tell here.

@LGaljo can you give a little bit of insight on what you did here?
I am curious if there is any way to fix auto focus + flash on all third party camera apps.
None of the third party camera apps can take pictures with flash and auto focus enabled. I am looking for a way to fix this and what you did here might give me a clue.

Looking at HTC One X CM Code i saw that they are using a camera wrapper
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/andr...-common/blob/cm-10.2/camera/CameraWrapper.cpp
From what i understand this stands between the actual blob and the system and makes sure the proper arguments are sent.
Maybe if we could find what causes the flash to take so long on third party apps could make a similar wrapper and sent the appropriate commands.

Thank you,i wasn't sure which.Anyway,i'm using stock.I wanted to try a custom ROM,just for the fun of it,but I heard lots of bugs,even my xFat 128gb card is not supported...so i'll pass.Besides,i prefer ZenUI apps,than stock Android or CM and those extra features got them with Xposed...

You have to flash the zip (same way to CM 13). For me this work well (except for the strange noise in photos)

What model? That happens if you are using super resolution the enhancement is not working at the moment.

You will not be able to access the photo from the camera app, otherwise not necessary.

You may have re flashed cm over it you need to flash this everytime you perform a dirty flash or a clean flash like you probably would do for gapps

that facebook apk work?

So far it is a very nice rom in my use of it. Tested camera, flash, gps, speakers, notification lights, many apps (including installing facebook app and logging in, but not actually using it more than that), etc. So far so good. Everything seems to be working. Thank you very much msfkonsole for making it available.
(Edit: backlights on soft buttons are working fine; no problem.)

But Facing the following problems:
1. No Transparent Status Bar
2. Weather not working - neither on the status bar, nor on the lock screen
3. Cannot change the Lock Screen Wallpaper through settings
Please help to fix this

1. The Status bar is definitely transparent on my phone. (Did you do a clean install?)
2. I also haven't gotten the weather to work.
3. Lockscreen wallpaper does not change for me either.
I'd also like to be able to adjust the soft buttons backlight brightness like I could in CM12.1.
But all those are only very minor problems, and this is proving to be a very good rom for me.

Edit: I just installed latest 5.6.6 using Philz Touch with rom in root folder of external SD card. No problem.

Another little bug. Flashlight not showing up in the Quick Setting Panel in v5.6.6 with edge touch bug fix kernel update.
Edit: reboot solved that problem, but I don't know why it happened in the first place.

I can't give any "official" suggestion. I first just installed and wiped cache & dalvik cache. But then I had some weird things happening (strange lag), so I wiped it and started over with a clean install (wipe, flashed 5.6.6 rom, flashed the patched kernel, reboot). YMMV, but that's how it worked for me.

thanks bro...i have installed the latest build..without clean install..lucky there is no lag at process..
btw any link for kernel..i never patch any kernel ..dunno how to use and what for ..(nubie )

The link is from post #9 on page one by nz_mincemeat (https://basketbuild.com/filedl/devs?dev=Msf_Console&dl=Msf_Console/RR/kernel/edgefix_20160403.zip). You just download that zip file, and then flash it from recovery just like you would do with a new rom. It replaces the boot.img ("kernel") and one file, and that solves the edge scrolling problem with the 5.6.6 rom. No need to wipe or do a fresh install when flashing that patch.

Hmm, strange. This file, edgefix_20160403.zip, right?
I'm using CWM based Philz Touch Recovery, but I don't know if that is the issue or not. If you were able to flash the rom, I can't see why you can't flash the edgefix update.
I'm having a few weird troubles though. Twice today I had the screen freeze for a time, and then when it came back, it was jumping around as if an invisible finger was touching all over the screen randomly. I had to force a reboot both times. That's not a minor bug. Also, I've had it turn on in my pocket and start to do pocket-dialing. At least I can hear it when that starts. Is there a setting to eliminate pocket dialing?
Edit: Ah, I see that 20160406 is released. Maybe I'll give that a try and see if it still has those problems.
