You can download Blur_Version.6.16.217.XT894.Verizon.en.US Droid 4 ICS firmware from here:

It will recover your phone if you soft-brick it on ICS.
BE AWARE THAT AFTER YOU FLASH ICS (either using OTA or FASTBOOT) THEN YOU CANNOT FLASH BACK GINGERBREAD (the phone will not boot until you flash back ICS)!!!

Well that was quick
Woow amazing my brother, Firmware TEAM
quick question, could we use this to move back to the upgrade path if running a leak? Could we fastboot (and how) to the official ICS if we are on a different leak
does it even matter if we are on the latest leak?

Leak .217 is the official version so if you are on that you don't have to do anything. Still on the upgrade path.
this "should" allow you to flash .217 no matter what version you are on....GB .215 or .219 or ICS .200-.217 though no one has tried it as far as I know...
While you can't flash the old GB fastboot files over ICS with success....you should be able to flash the ICS fastboot files over anything.

I ran this already on my D4, it was running .217 before, didn't lose any data, just had to re-root.
I wanted to make sure I had everything completely since I was going leak to leak before and didn't want my recovery partition or something else to be buggered in the future.
Anyone mind explaining how to flash stuff via fastboot on the droid 4? I've used fastboot on a kindle fire and droid incredible, but never on the D4. I'd hate to mess it up.

ok so I got the fastboot .exe. Do I just use the
Code:
moto-fastboot update <UPDATE-FILE-NAME>
command with the file linked to in the OP?

That's what I did. I didn't upgrade to 217 it self but used the kernel from 215 and 217 to see if they were any better, which I got better life from 217 for sure. I used moto-fastboot flash boot "Kernel.IMG" I think. I'm still running the 208 rom it self though, which I've had no problems out. Has anyone seen a notice in 217 over 208 BTW?
Ok sorry for the noob question but can someone explain to me how to flash this on my gf stock droid 4 she keeps asking me when she is going to get ics so I would like to flash this tonight if possible.
Can I use RSD Lite or does this only work with fast boot?

I flashed the new ICS build on my Bionic from Liberty, and needless to say am stuck on the splash screen. I tried to flash the Liberty 2.0 901 build to no avail. I cannot get to the stock recovery mode only the flash mode and am wondering if I am bricked totally. When I flash Liberty it says FAIL, any suggestions?
Are you using safestrap or bootstrap?
I used RDS Lite
So your good then?
No, it fails every time I try to flash it and when I hook my phone up to the USB it shows it picks up no information about the phone in RDS Lite. Is there somewhere I can download the stock FXZ file? Am I missing something obvious? Thanks.

I can help. Follow the link that i gave earlier in the thread.
when using rsd lite make sure you have the right drivers installed and plug in your phone with the stock motorola cord. make sure its plugged into the back of your pc as its known to fail when plugged into secondary usb ports. rsd should detect your phone then.

moto-fastboot the system.img

These are files that can be used to truly factory restore your phone. If you had a custom rom installed, this would put you back to stock.
You use Motorola's RSD Lite program to flash to your phone while it is in AP Fastboot mode.
This will work on locked bootloaders because they are signed files from Motorola meant for flashing in this way.
EDIT: As Pzyduck says above, these are official firmware not leaks
Don't flash AT&T on Bell or vice versa, you may get trapped because of secure versions.
(btw. I know, it's codenamed qinara, and not dinara, but meh, too lazy to fix it )

On 2 accounts we wouldn't be able to do this.
1) The phone will only take signed images for system in AP Fastboot. There are sig checks on flashing and on boot (we can assume this, we can test more obviously since we have FXZ backups).
I didn't want to test flashing a rooted system dd'd out before because we had no FXZ's to test. Now that we have them it might be worth it to try it out. Worst case use these FXZ.
Rooted system.img: you can get the entire partitions here which includes it: http://crackflasher.com/dev/mattlgroff/MB886.ATT.en.US/AtrixHdPartitions.zip
Be extra careful flashing things you do not have backups for...
2) The system.img.ext4 file inside of these are not only compressed, but appear to be encrypted as well.

Whenever i try to do an OTA update, it downloads the new os but fails to install. It installs maybe 25% and then the android falls over with the red triangle. Keep it mind im new to the rooting scene so bare with me haha it just cuts back on and says update failed. WHAT DO I DO?!?!?!:crying:
What have you done to your phone? Typically OTA updates fail because you have modified/deleted/changed something on the phone that the update is trying to patch/update. If you don't know what you changed, it's hard to change it back to stock.

Fastboot
I have step-by-step instructions for doing this in the HOW TO thread. Just read the top two paragraphs about using root and the special fastboot for Motorola devices and you'll be just fine -- most of the help I've given was because no one bothered to read them.
Now that I have figured out how to revert back to ICS and this thread provides no actual helpfulness, that isn't already posted elsewhere, a mod can delete it. Thanks for the help Skeevy.

I'm not sure anyone actually knows what "fxz" means.. Flashable XML Zip... Lol.. Maybe..
But, yes, you can use RSDLite (for Windows only) - make sure you have your moto drivers installed on your computer - extract the zip close to C:\ with no spaces in your path - point RSD to the .xml file in the extracted folder - boot in to fastboot mode (power + vol. down probably, if like my moto) - connect USB and make sure your phone is recognized - and hit go..
Or you can flash those files with moto-fastboot (some with just fastboot).. Make a .bat file or .sh script.. See mine here for an example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36834775&postcount=108 - WARNING NOTE: If you try to use my files for the A2, you MUST first cross check the partitions and file names in my .bat and the .xml from the FXZ package - and edit the .bat as necessary for your device.
Letting RSD run the xml will wipe/flash everything, usually including bootloader - back to stock ota jb - in theory... YOU WILL ALSO LOOSE ROOT! (so, hope you have a root method for JB).. Or it could possibly brick your phone if it's not the correct firmware/region, or if trying to downgrade.. See my batch file that flashes system.img only for borked systems - but, yea, this could all be pointless, or for emergency situations only - until you have a way to re-gain root.
Check out the Atrix 2 forum.. We have a lot of experience with the FXZs..

Yes it will. I did the same thing. I initially failed on Step 5. I had to extract the zip file and modify the XML removing the fb_mode_set and fb_mode_clear lines (See http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/1107-fix-unknown-fastboot-command-oem-phone-connected/).
yep, it worked for me, too. too bad we lost root. I'll keep my fingers crossed for an exploit to be discovered.

Firmware Team is dedicated to releasing full official FXZ packages from Motorola. This is far from just a ROM. This completely reflashes the device to a pristine factory state.
No Internal Memory
I edited the lines as directed and flashed the update with RSD Lite and the phone works like it is supposed to, but now I can't access the internal memory. I tried to format it like the phone suggested and then it wouldn't recognize any of the memory cards - I think it erased e: drive. So I reflashed it and now I don't get the message to format it, but it won't show up in Windows... my 32GB external SD card shows up, but not the internal memory.
It looks like I don't have permission to access the internal memory. Any suggestions on how to do this with no root?
Thanks.
