i have been running different roms and kernels on the note for several months, i recently put the liquid smooth cm10 rom on my phone everything was running well until i put in my sim card ( i have been using my 7.7 as my phone lately and just put in the sim card into the note ) it is asking me for a sim network unlock pin - i call rogers and they gave me 4 set of numbers but none of them work - i am not sure what is a sim network unlock pin - i thought the phone should be unlocked already ? how can if fix this - do i need to go back to a previous rom where i did not have this issue - ie. ics rom ? any help is appreciated

Hi,
Not long ago, I installed Android 4.1.2 (Germany) on my Galaxy Note I (N7000XXLSA_N7000OXALSA_DBT).
The sim card worked something like 2-3 months and then it didn't work.
I changed few ROMs and it didn't help.
Do you have an idea what happened?
What can I do?
PS: The sim card works on other devices.
Thanks,
Shahar :victory:
a) Check your IMEI. Is it still the original number or does ist start with 004999....?
b) Try to change your SIM Pin and test if starts working after.

imei: 004999010640000 / 01
AW: Sim card isn't working
Now you don't have your own IMEI anymore. You have a developer IMEI.
On ICS and JB official releases you have to change the Sim pin after each restart.
Alternative: use my Pristine Rom. This has a workaround and your Sim will work.

his rom should do the trick.
pin is number when you start your phone and you have to enter a four digit number. Then your phone registers on the network.
If you are missing the screen where you enter your pin you can get it back. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25953317
Hi I bought a Samsung Galaxy S3 i9305 a couple of days ago, it is an international factory unlocked version, now my problem is that when I inserted my new micro SIM it doesn't detect it, one thing I noticed though is that aparently Im using and Orange ROM so I dont know if that's causing the problem, the version of android is JB 4.1.2 the latest build, so what do I do? (Note: I cutted my SIM to make it a Micro SIM but Im sure I cutted it right it fits perfectly and I didn't cut the chip) please help me with this I want to use my new phone

try another sim and see if the problem is gone if another sim card works its ur sim
try another Rom and see if the problem is gone
and also check the IMEI and also tell me where u bought ur device
and if none of this then its the sim tray
Thanks for the reply I'll try everything however don't you think that its strange that the rom is not allowing my micro sim to be recognized? Is there any way I can check if it is truly unlocked? My IMEI numbers match perfectly ( the one you see trough android and the one you see on the back of the phone)

there is always that problem which u can't predict in android
i don't know of such way but if your not check galaxy sim it unlocks the sim
well that is good cause if the IMEI didn't match on both means someone changed it and it is illegal to do so
Okay, I posted this question in the I9300 Q&A section by accident (was a bit distraught, didn't read the section title properly), but for some reason a mod appears to have deleted the thread instead of moving it, so here it is again in the correct section.
So after using my I9305 for about 8-9 months now, I woke up this morning to find my phone nonoperational. The phone requests on boot a "SIM network unlock PIN". If this window is dismissed, the pulldown notifications drawer states "Invalid SIM card" with subtitle "Network locked SIM card inserted". Quick Googling reveals that these notifications and errors typically show that a phone is locked to a specific carrier. Now that's understandable, but this phone is unlocked, and I hadn't even taken the SIM card out until this error occurred. The SIM card works just fine in another phone.
I've tried rebooting the phone (first port of call), and using the code *#197328640# in the dialer to SIM unlock as per this post (but I didn't have "[4] NW LOCK NV Data INNITIALLIZ" as an option). I tried using "busybox chown 1001:1001 /efs/nv_data.bin" in terminal emulator as root, after seeing this post, but it came with an error of "chown: /efs/nv_data.bin: NO such file or directory". So... how bad do things look? And no... I don't have a backup of my efs. =[

Since then, I also tried *#06# in the dialer, and my IMEI is intact.
Try another sim first

Nope, no dice.
Are you totally stock rom or custom?

Maybe try flash a stock pre-rooted rom by lriquidperfection with odin and try the *# again?
Tried various different stock ROMs and factory resets, nothing.
You need to flash a 4.1.1 ROM, or at least a modem from such a ROM.

Tried flashing several 4.1.1 stock ROMs, no luck either.

Not sure why doing anything with the battery would be in any way related with the SIM. I also forgot to mention that I had already tried cleaning the SIM card at the start with alcohol. In any case, the SIM card works fine in another phone, so it appears that there isn't problem with the SIM card. In any case, I managed to RMA the phone, now the long wait to get it back...

Got my phone back from the shop today. Kept an eye on the shipping tracking when I sent it out, and they sent it back out half a day after they took delivery, so I'm guessing they used a SIM unlock code since it's definitely my phone that I got back. Didn't have to pay anything, so I'm happy. Still not sure why/how the phone decided to lock itself though...

I was using the stock Samsung ROM.
Hello I have an unlocked samsung ace. I got him rooting and I installed a custom rom. Everything works fine but now I placed a SIM card from another provider. The phone starts completely without error but I have no network. The SIM card is good because he does it in other phones.
Does anyone know the solution?

i mean did you got it from other country or something and do that sim give network on stock rom
So I flashed Dr. Ketan's ROM and saw that the model number displayed was wrong, simple aesthetics I know, I decided to edit the build.prop settings to fix this, when I restarted my phone, it suddenly displayed that I had network sim locked. What I found out next is that if I only place my main sim, there would be no problem, but if I add a second sim to sim slot 2, the network sim locked appears. I even re-flashed a stock rom, still the same issue. Can anyone help? thank you
EDIT: to clarify, both sim slots were working just fine before I flashed Dr. Ketan's ROM and edited the build prop setting to fix model number.

this is strange issue and i believe a rom can not do this. Did you try flashing any other kernel? is your sim password locked?

Those were my thoughts. None of my sim cards are password locked. Tried them on a different phone which was definitely unlocked. Both sims are working fine. Brought it to my carrier (I'm not from the US) and explained to them my problem. I also mentioned how weird my situation was in the sense that both my sim gets network locked if both sims occupy sim 1 and 2 slots but if I use my carrier's sim( the carrier with whom I have a plan with) then the sim would function normally, otherwise network sim locked.
My carrier declared it defective and is now shipping a new one. I guess that somehow solves my problem. It just irks me though that my experience seems to be so unique that I couldn't find any solution online and no one with whom I've talked to seems to know how to remedy the problem.
edit: I did not flash any kernel, I had stock kernel the entire time.
