Baseband problem - LG Optimus 2x

Hello
First to introduce myself, I m Ante from Croatia.
I have O2X for the last 3 months.
I read: [Baseband][P990] Complete Baseband overview thread and
P990 - BASEBANDS - 1120 (SU660 Porting) + 313 (P990) + 420 (SU660 Porting) thread.
O2X is Made in korea.
If I use BB for P990 (0218, 0823, 0725 and 0313) i have bad sound quality (low voice clarity from person I speak).
If I use BB for SU660 (0420 and 1120) i have great sound but have problem with loosing connection with the mobile operator.
It occurs 2 to 3 times per day for 5 or less minutes (having missed calls or people cant reach me).
With GetRil I tried various ril's (matching, not matching) but nothing helps.
Automatic time zone is OFF.
I m on temesek CM7 ROM.
If someone has a similar problem and found a solution please let me know.

SU660 in Croatia? Why!?
First off, I wouldn't recommend using a RIL that does not match your baseband.
What do you mean when you say that "O2X is made in Korea"? Is your phone a P990 or SU660? (remove your battery, and there should be a sticker that says either P990 or SU660)
If it's a P990, try flashing 0725 BB + 0725 RIL and stock 2.3.4 rom.
If it's a SU660, you're in the wrong section! (why would you buy the Korean version if you live in Croatia?!)

As I said I own LG P990 (sticker says P990-made in Korea).
Read this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1387293
then you'll know what I'm saying.
I tried the stock ROM and the sound quality is terrible (yes BB 0218 or 0725 and matching RIL).

Strange problem with RIL and GB custom ROMs

I have Froyo v10d baseband and after flashing any custom rom when i try to match ril with baseband (with GetRIL) all goes wrong. Well not all but crucial thing. After reboot there`s no more screen with dialpad to enter simcard PIN so I cant get network signal. I`ve tried all 3 Django`s rom, 2 of Gueste and new Thanatos.
Sorry about english, I hope i`ve been clear enough.
Sorry guys I forgot to say that I install v10d ril whit GetRIL. After reboot there is as on attached pics.
Hi,
0823 BB is sometimes very problematic, and not suitable for everybody (cf second image).
I think that if you want to use latest custom roms, and especially v20o, you'd better flash v20m baseband, which has the same numeric name as yours but is clearly not the same. I personnally used v20l baseband without big problem, and I just upgraded to v20m one.
I just read that v20m baseband is not compatible with Cyanogenmod (only Froyo BB must be used), but flashing a BB is just a 5 minutes work.
You have all the BB you want in the Great Temasek shared folder here (in optimus p990 folder): http://www.mediafire.com/temasek
For V20m, you have for .fls files to flash, beginning with biggest file and following with decreasing size.
There is a how to text file in archive.

It's the same issue I had when trying to use GB RIL with CM7 (latest KANG).
I have the same baseband you have, and it works well with RIL 725 v10d.
With CM7 Kangs everything works fine.
So when I flash custom GB ROM can I leave RIL from him as on first attached pic 0725 v20l? Somewhere I read that different RIL cause more battery drain.

Why not simply try and test? can't say it for you, and changing Ril is fast...
I had the same issue.
I currently have v20M flashed through KDZ updater, so I have 725 v20m BB and I'm afraid to have radio problems with CM7.
I tried using V20l RIL and didn't work, but using v10d 725 RIL worked but I reverted to stock rom for now because maybe I'll have some problems.
If you tell me it's ok to use v10d 725 RIL I'll try CM7 again.
Cheers!

Its not just ok to use v10d 725 RIL, it is a must to use it. Why? CM7 isn't compatible with GB RIL. You can use GB BB but not GB RIL. It will cause unknown baseband if u use GB RIL.

[Q] Temasek cm7kang-O2x-P204-50

yesterday i've installed the Temasek cm7kang-O2x-P204-50 ROM. I like it, thx Temasek. The Rom has a 405 BB and i want to update this BB. Which is the best BB? How can i get this BB and which steps are necessery to install the BB. need to wipe?
Thxs for the answer.
I use the instructions here:
*doh* I cant post urls...
Just google: optimus 2x baseband
It's a link in the modaco's forums.
I get the baseband and the RIL from temasek's mediafire folder..
Unfortunatelly, last time I installed 824 BB + v20f RIL, my 3G connectivity failed and I was 2G only. I reverted to 725 + v10d RIL and 3G is up again.
According the the dev forum 824 BB has better sound quality but drains the battery more. The 824 BB is taken from SU660 (LG Optimus 2X SU660, which is O2X for the Korean market), the hardware is the same, only few buttons missing. So you don't have to worry for compatibility. SU660 824 BB is compatible with P990 (O2X).
A note: Backup you apps, settings, etc. Because AFAIK Smartflash erases the /data/data partition.
I just install this ROM too.
But I cant sync my contacts in google. I also cant add my google account.
can anyone help me?
and how i install a baseband, need to wipe?

Here you go:
http://android.modaco.com/topic/335494-11-nov-smartflash-stock-baseband-release-103521-20110725-v20l-version/
A baseband wipe requires a full wipe so make sure you made a backup of everything

[Q] RIL and BB for Philippines

Mabuhay,
It's just recently that I'm having problems getting a GPS lock, signal loss, and poor voice quality with A.R. 2.0 which is still based on Temasek's kang 67. Get RIL app says that my RIL (0218 V10b, Europe) and BB (1035.21_20110725) doesn't match.
Can anyone recommend a RIL that will match my BB with the best battery life here in PH or Vice-versa? I don't mind changing BB if it's really necessary.
Try HK rils or any Asian RIL
Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk
Just go with v20l bb. Look for it in development threads.
Basebands work internationally.
@dhogthag
What BB/RIL combination are you using?
I just flashed to CM7.2 but can't get 3G signal and data connection anymore in Globe ph network
First thing would be to use a matching RIL as there exists one for your 725BB.
This would be the 725 v10d RIL in GetRIL.
Second: read the FAQ here: LG P990 Complete Baseband Overview Thread

upgrading baseband

Hi,
was just about to upgrade the baseband on my 2x, but for some reason it's not working.
My old baseband was 725 and wanted to try BASEBAND 1120 - P990 ( SU660 Porting )
I downloaded SmartFlashTool_P990.exe + drivers and installed the 4 files in order from biggest to smallest.
When the LG logo started to flash (after each SW FLASH install), i removed and reattached to cable+"volume down" to install next file.
R375_SIC.fls
AENEAS_FW.fls
slb.fls
psi.fls
When I was done with the baseband flash, I installed lasted RC of [CM9][ROM][MAR07] Nova HD Plus.
Checked "about phone" and it still say I got baseband version 725
what went wrong?

If you read the first post carefully, you will find that the author describes that he has compiled with his old archive....but that has to be 823 normally. Anyway, if your communications and other radio related stuff is working alright....why think about the information in the BB column.
thanks, didn't notice that.
Still don't know why I was not able to upgrade to 823

This is not true, I think. It just states this for the update script in clockworkmod. The about phone should state something like 20111120
?
What does baseband do?
by changing your baseband you can possibly get better signal, better incall voice sound, but if you don;t suffer from any of those problems than don;t change it
bb
IF your BB and RIL mach, then you might get better batterylife.
Check your stock BB and ril. it must work best

And to match you RIL, there's a great app called GetRil .
Baseband and ROMs
Hi,
I have 725 baseband. Can I flash CM ROM or MIUI ROM?
Should I have a specific baseband before I flash a different ROM?

No you don't, in some case the author of ROM specify the better BB, also you can use Get Ril to match ril and bb, this is usefull for battery life and best signal too

[Q] About Baseband and RIL

Hi
i have the 0725 baseband on my phone. As i understand, to archieve the best batterylife is to match the RIL with the baseband. I just checked my battery consumption and the signal is almost never green. To compare with phones from within the household, a wildfire S, Arc S and Ray all have a green bar.
So, i tried to change the RIL to the recommended 0725 (V10D Europe). My 2X grants permission, reboots, but the RIL is still the CM7 stock 0218.
What should i do? What am i doing wrong? Is it not possible to change the RIL?
Btw, Temasek Kang with vadonka kernel. I live in Denmark (Europe )
I think you are experiencing the /system r/w bug that's being discussed in the thread of the etana kernel, check it out.
Cheers
So thats it! Thank !
Is there any other way to change the RIL?
You can put another kernel for cm7 in there (like a older one) use getril then reflash the latest kernel or wait for a fix.
Cheers
Makes sense.
Thanks for the help
