Ok, I posted this on several threads but thought it was worthy of its own thread. I have tried everything to get my Vulkano working on my g tablet but it has never worked. I decided to try Corwins tweaked CM7 and the Vulkano works!!! Nice!! Maybe it works on all CM7's? I just happened to install Corwins version.
Sent from my GTablet using Tapatalk
OK even though I really like Calkulin's ROM, I'm willing to give this a try. I need to access my Vulkano.
Thanks
1.5.083 is the version that's working. It buffers for maybe 15-20 seconds and plays. It's a nice ROM as well. Not as snappy as a Calkulins (but what is?) But not bad.
Sent from my GTablet using Tapatalk
I'm in the process of installing the new ROM right now. I'll let you know how it goes in a few.
Boy, I really like Calk's ROM.....lol.
I used Calkulins format all before the Corwins and then installed gapps right afterwards and reboot. I was surprised to see the whole market as well. I ran this Rom yesterday for about 30 minutes and went back to Calkulins. I really liked the layout though and decided to give it a second chance. I'm glad I did! I've rebooted maybe 5 times now and its performing much better.

Gapps didn't install so I have no market and can't get to my titanium backup. Wow this ROM is a lot slower than calk's
Man this is so totally different from the other ROMs I've used. I can't get to root to install gapps so I can have a market.
Well it's back to calkulins ROM. I couldn't get to the market to install any apps...not even the web would let me download.
Google "Cyanogen Gapps" and go to their wiki sight to download the gapps file.Same thing for me yesterday. I restored back to Calkulins and downloaded the gapps and put it in my roms folder. I highly recommend Calkulins format all it keeps everything clean. Install the rom and gapps right afterwards, then reboot. The rom seems really slow and unresponsive at first. I rebooted several times and let everything settle down. Running pretty nice now. Good luck!
Sent from my GTablet using Tapatalk
How do you install the rom and then gapps? Don't they both have to be named update.zip?
Go find the gapps file, Google like above. It is a separate zip file. install the Rom and then go back and select zip again and flash the gapps file then reboot. Neither rom is named update zip. Corwins whatever whatever.zip and gapps.zip
Sent from my GTablet using Tapatalk
I have the gapps file. But you just lost me when you said go back and find the zip again. How? In CWM it only asks for update zip. I usually put the update zip in my root. Where would I put the gapps and what would I label it as?
I appreciate the help you've been giving me.

Instead of choosing update.zip choose select zip from sdcard. Find corwins zip select and install. Go back (useback button) and select the gapps file and install. Reboot. Put the gapps file somewhere you can find it in cwm. I have a file named "roms" where I move all my files to.

If you have trouble just restore and go read some more. Lots of great info on this forum that is much more concise than my explanation!!

Thanks for all your help. I got the rom up and running. Vulkano however, still won't play. It's been stuck at buffereing for the last 5 minutes.
Try rebooting a few times and see if that helps. I had rebooted 5 or 6 times before i tried the vulkano. Also is it the latest version of the Vulkano app?
Sent from my GTablet using Tapatalk
Yes it's the latest version from the market. I'll reboot a few times.
It didn't work after several reboots. also, when I USB to my computer, I cannot access anything but a few folders on sdcard 2. I can't even access my roms folders. I tried to change the kernel, but CWM couldn't find it. All in all, this ROM has too many quirks for me. I'm going back to Calkulins.
Weird.I don't know why it would work for me.oh well, you gave it a good try!!! Ill be curious to see if anyone else can get it running. Take care

Yes, I hope it works for somebody else. I'm glad it's working for you. Thanks for all your help!
People have been asking in the dev forum alot about how to have two roms on the same device. So i thought I would make a how to.
You do this at your own risk.
Things Needed:
external SD
Get CWM for droid3
SafeStrap for droid3
stable rom to use as nonsafe [put on external SD]
rom to use as safe [put on external SD]
TiBu
1. (make sure you are in nonsafe, if you don't know what this means then dont worry). Do a backup of everything you will want to keep with TiBu.
2. Put the backup on external SD or on dropbox.
3. Uninstall any existing recoveries.
4. Reboot device.
5. Install cwm.
6. Reboot into CWM Recovery and install stable rom.
7. Reboot device.
8. Uninstall CWM and Then install safestrap.
9. Reboot into safestrap recovery.
10. Use volume rockers to go to safe boot menu.
11. Toggle safesystem.
12. select install a zip
13. choose safe rom
14. DONE "]
The nonsafe system will now contain your stable rom. and the safe system will contain your 'experimental' or second rom. I recommend not putting any new or buggy roms as your nonsafe. And this is already considered a dangerous thing to do. And give a huge thanks to hashcode for providing us with safestrap and koush for cwm :]
I currently use MavRom as a nonsafe. Its extremely stable and has not caused any issues at all.
Also if you want to transfer the safe to the nonsafe, use tibu to entirely back up the rom, system and user apps, you can then restore it after flashing it to nonsafe. Make a new backup folder to put it in so you don't mix it up with other backups from different roms

I can't seem to get this to work with Cm7 as Safe rom and Cm9 as my experimental. I got Steel Droid to boot up and stock but I'm starting to think any rom that isn't blur based (which is really only cyanogen) isn't able to be dual booted. I just get a black screen after the splash screen I've been trying for a week now. If anybody is willing to give it a shot just to see if its me then please let me know of your findings but Mavrom Liberty SD all of those I can boot its cm7.1 or Cm9 that won't...

Damnit man I would rather not have to run cm7 as my stable rom seeing how I have no front facing camera support but the other features that the blur based roms lack just make it impossible to use as a daily driver. I need control over which buttons are in the notification widget and a few of the other features cm provides and none of the blurless roms give me that unfortunately... I'm determined to get this to work if its the last thing I do lol

I can't get cm7 to boot up past the safestrap splash screen.... I start out with bootstrap boot cm7 up and then remove bootstrap and install safestrap thus making cm7 my non safe or main rom but upon rebooting the phone I just get the black screen after the splash screen... I can get into safestrap and switch to safe mode and run whatever rom I last had there or flash any nandroids I had in non safe mode but whatever rom I had on prior to installing safestrap (cm7 or cm9) they won't actually reboot. I thought cm9 would work which would really be a hastle keeping that as my non safe rom and cm7 as my main one on the safe side thus leaving me to redo the entire process everytime a new cm9 is released but cm9 wouldn't boot up past the initializing apps screen that first pops up... It counts up to all the apps I have then just stays stuck on starting applications or whatever it says, cm7 doesn't even boot up beyond the splash screen...
Edit: And I know that I'm doing it right because I have got Steel Droid to dual boot before I just can't understand y blurfree roms can't boot in non safe mode

Ok im gonna give this another shot tonight..... haven't had the time or patience especially since I think its gonna fail again but ill update with my progress.... gonna try cm7 as the non safe and aokp as the safe one...
Sent from my DROID3 using Tapatalk
Ok, time to feel like a total noob.
So, my idea was to use safestrap to install aokp on the safe partition and leave my stock (+root) rom on the unsafe one.
I had bootstrap installed, just to back up my stuff and whatnot, so, I uninstalled it, installed safestrap, put all the stuff needed for AOKP ( rom, gsm patch and gapps ) and rebooted the phone. I enabled the safe system, and flashed rom, patch and gapps. then I rebooted, and I got into a loop where I would see the motorola logo ( the still one, which says "dual core technology" or something like that), then I got the safestrap splashscreen and if I pressed search, or left the phone idle so it would boot on it's own, it would get me to the motorola logo again, and repeat the loop.
I had to go back to the unsafe system and luckily it's all still there, but, since that point I tried every combination that I could think off, with wipes and I've flashed even just the rom, between wipes, and still, nothing.
I'm thinking that safestrap is not being able to write on the partition, or something like that, but I don't know how to solve it.
Any Ideas?
EDIT: I checked with a root explorer on /preinstall ( which I understand is the /system folder for the safe system ) and all the data seems to be there, but it's just not booting. Which makes me even more confused
It appears that the package is broken. For the time being I have no way of remaking it. I hopefully soon will be able to make it again.
The other day I managed to get my hands on a UK ATRIX that was still running the official 2.3.4 rom (T-Mobile I think) so I stuck ROM Factory on it and made a fruitcake of it for your enjoyment.
As always with custom ROMs I am not responsible for anything you do to your device, you don't have to flash this if you don't want to!.
Also this is the first time I have used Rom Factory to do anything and I am completely unable to test it as the phone I made it from has an locked bootloader (does this matter?) so again flash with caution.
Features:
Rooted
No Webtop (Sorry )
Up to date Apps including super user

Yup. It is exactly that. It has no unique features other than the fact that it is the stock UK ROM that went missing at the same time as all of the file sharing websites in the form of a fruitcake.
Has anyone tried it to see if it works? I still have to phone (locked bootloader & It's not mine) I made it from (though not for much longer) and can have another go!
Thanks, I'll try it when I get back home.

Tried this yesterday. Had CM7 latest nightly running. Did a full wipe and clean install. But unfortunately, it kept booting into CM7 (not the one I had before flashing). I anyways tried logging into my Google account and the setup wizard force closed every time I tried. Had to revert to my previous setup
Not sure if I did anything wrong, I know the usual drill of installing custom ROMs.
Did anyone else give a try?

Very odd issue... Is it because the device I made it from has a locked bootloader? You say that the rom didn't flash (or did but not properly) what did the install script in CWM say?
Sorry I don't have the device any longer so I won't be able to do anything with re making the fruitcake :crying: as I have had to give it back.
PS I have sent you a PM with the original rom link in it, may be that the one on the mirror is corrupted.

The script said that the flash was successful. Also it said that I should not forget to wipe cache and data, which I did anyways. No errors in the install script.
Not sure if the zip had the original ROM, coz it was booting into CM7, which is obviously not what you are trying to do. I did a full wipe, 3 times, so I guess there is no possibility for it to boot into my previous installation of CM7 nightly.
I saw your PM. Thanks. I will try today if I get some time off work and let you know.

Update:
First I tried it without gapps. Everything booted fine, but there was no market nor would accounts/ sync let me add Google account.
So, I rebooted into recovery, which worked fine, and flashed gapps.
This time on boot, I actually got the Droid X welcome screen, was able to put in Google info, and market initiator ran and updated.
After that everything worked fine.
Tested Bluetooth, Messages, Gps and Calls. Didn't get chance to try Wifi yet, but I'm sure it works since everything-else does.
The only thing that Would be better is an updated Superuser. The 1 included will NOT update SU Binary. I think it's the old edify binary. Even by updating Superuser in the market WON'T help. Although an easy fix is to get RootUninstaller and uninstall Rom Superuser, then download new 1 from the market and install.
Keep up the hard work. Nice Rom.
Finally, does this works for any other gb kernel besides .621?
Anybody please tell us!

Oh yea, I also got to looking into your system/app folder in your zip. The vending.apk is Not in there, which i would say is why I had to flash the gapps. Just wanted you to know.
Also there is no "boot.img" (which is kernel right?) in the new dwnload.

I tried this again but, I think the real problem is with my microSD card. I have subsequently tried to flash other roms and have had other aborts as well. I know that the md5's on those checked out. I was able to flash a cm9 based rom and got it set up just fine. All this from the same card on the same phone. Sooo I am attempting to format the card just in case I have bad sectors or something.
Luckily my DX is no longer activated and just keeps me from killing my SGS3 with flashes.:silly:

I hear ya, I had the same prob with sd card so i formatted mine as well, problem was still there though. whenever i tried to install a rom from sd card via rom manager the problem was i kept getting the message saying waiting for sd cart to mount then it would say error bla bla bla sending log file to cwm ect ect ect.... i dont know exactally how i fixed that, all i know is i installed another rom, like cm7 or cm9 for instance and after that whenever i went to back up rom it worked fine ever since.... maybe something flashes over correcting the sd card problem when you install a rom... I know rom manager checks to verify the marker on sd card and thats what your problem is I believe.
Try doing this, try installing a rom cm7/cm9 without making a backup (i know you could lose everything if it fails but its the only way i know that fixed mine) after you have installed cm7/9 go to rom manager and hit the Backup Current Rom it should reboot you to cwm recovery and make an auto backup, if it does this without throwing up the waiting for sd card to mount error stuff and it runs the backup program and then reboots you it should fix your sd card problems.....
Review this rom
this is by far a ROM with the least lag by far i tried liquid ICS and plenty others don't know what it is but the lag is really minimal runs really smooth i only have this for like 3 hours but will update soon

Hi all, I have looked all over the place, I need help.
Here are my Current "About Device"
Hardware Version: I800.0.3
Model Number: SCH-I800
Firmware: 2.3.5
Baseband Version S:I800.0.3V.E104
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-dsb9938.VZW.GTab.E104.1.1.2
I have looked at the "back to stock" threads, multiple DL links are no longer available.
I had rooted, and Flashed a "Cube" ROM quite some time ago. A while after that I messed something up with the built in "overclocking" type app. Set it to the side and kind of forgot about it. Fast forward to know, I would like to get it working for my son to use, but there are a few issues that keep us from using it. I kept getting all sorts of random force closes, so I was able to get in recovery, and tried to wipe everything. This somewhat worked for a while, but now I am getting a force close from Facebook (which isn't installed, and I have narrowed it down to a contact synching issue) and I keep getting a popup for an OTA system update. I have tried to do the update, but I think the recovery is keeping it from completing.
Long story short, I know this device is a bit older, but where should I start from? I am ok with a fresh, wipe everything start. Not looking for a crazy ROM, but just a everything works ROM. I am ok with GB, ICS, etc, I just want it to be fully functioning. I plan on adding the tablet on my account so I can stop tethering for my son to use it. This has been the only device I have ever needed to ask for help, I am just not so used to the ODIN type stuff.
Thanks in advance.
I tried to do a reset, and wipe from CW recovery. Then restore, it has been stuck on the black with white Samsung screen for about 10 minutes. Don't know what else to do right now.

As far as what to put on it, I highly recommend this CM10.1 ROM. It runs very smoothly, but if you want to activate data, I think you have to go back a bit for a working kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2043421 The CDMA version is the p1c.
I don't know if you have come across this yet, but unlike any device I had flashed before, the GTab recovery has to be flashed with a corresponding kernel. You can't just flash the recovery to get into recovery.
