MROM-Olympus. Custom ROM for the Atrix 4G
This is my attempt to build a stable, complete, and fully functional custom ROM for the Atrix 4G completely built from source code; Atrix-MROM is built on top of Cyanogen ROM latest source code, my branched and modified faux123 kernel, and Motorola proprietary drivers. I recompiled all components to guarantee maximum efficiency and performance. Along the way, I realized that I needed things to work different for the Atrix 4G, so I also made some changes. If you like my work, consider a donation to my cause.
BUILT FROM SOURCE PROOF https://github.com/MROM. Every developer should provide proof that he is building from source.
Atrix-MROM is entirely build from source. You will see the difference when you run it. Just to list a few features:
Boot time in about 10 seconds
Optimum battery life, better than any other ROM I have tested
Quick, responsive
Contains all the most common Atrix tweaks
MIUI Camera for a better picture experience
QuickPic gallery application
While I tried to maintain the main core small, size is not the main focus.
Few user comments:
ahmedbeik: this is the best rom i ever had on my atrix.
Larac: Liking this rom so far, good battery and smooth.
RFOX100: cant belive. this is the only smartphone who can handle 2 days without drain so much battery
ravilov: I don't remember when I took it off the charger
stanekskc: i have to say it. THIS ROM I AWESOME
P05TMAN: Seriously, this is the best, most stable ROM I have EVER used (I've tried countless ROMs for the Atrix in nearly two years). Great job.
alberto88a: I felt as if I had a new phone, an 8-cores phone
samiam21:This rom with it's new design is as good as it gets. F#$% ics!
Neroga:it's the only truly stable CM7 ROM I've ever used.
many more...

If I am going to flash something on my phone, I usually read the first post of that Rom. Try doing that.

Thanks for the Rom. It's a good thing I don't need webtop because this is based off CM7 and everyone knows that CM7 doesn't support webtop. But I figure if I didn't know that, I would just use Google to find that out. Again thanks for the Rom and thanks for including all information in the first post.

Yeah yeah, blah blah... such a waste of SQL and forum posting.
Thanx for the ROM @first poster.

Only 12 MB in Size?
[EDIT] - This question has been answered, and the ROM is "usual sized".
Is this ROM really only 12mb or did I grab the wrong file from your Github? If so, you should advertise this...this is smaller than the leanest ROM by a long way... Thanks for developing for the Atrix.
Please follow the Download link, github is only for GPL compliance...
biggest change log....cyanogenmod setting renamed to Atrix-MROM settings.....
how much does this rom average at quadrant standards?
now this is a toughy to choose between this and neutrinos rom 2.91ee, which is better?
from the about phone screen shot looks like this rom consumes resources such as memory.. 353 / 815
where neutrinos 406 / 815 after all my apps installed..
can anyone provide some feedback/ review?

Hey, this ROM looks very promising and I'd like to try it out, but...
Before I flash something on my phone, I'd like to at least check that it downloaded properly. Good news - you provided the MD5 file exactly for this purpose. Bad news - the MD5 file is not for that ZIP file at all. The ROM is called Atrix-MROM-20120816.zip while the MD5 file mentions cm-nightly.zip, and of course the MD5 sum mentioned in the file doesn't match the one calculated from the ZIP. On top of that, the web server you're using doesn't send the total size of the file (while it was downloading the progress was alwasys xxx MB of Unknown) so I can't even guestimate based on the file size (ie. it's supposed to be around xxx MB, my download is about that size, so it's probably fine).
The downloaded ZIP file happily opens in any archive manager which is definitely good, but I'd really like to check it against its MD5 file before I actually decide to flash it. Hope you fix this soon!

Thank you to all who tested. Now start getting your phones ready for the final build.
Themers:
Check Post #2 for a package of app & framework files. A good majority of the apps are from FRF91 Vanilla Android build so if you have packages that already work with that build then most should work here. Please make sure all packages are compatible. Please use the framework-res.apk provided since it is unique to this ROM. It is much different than the OEM Drodi2 packages.
ROM Developers:
Feel free to use this as a base for your own ROM. Please just respect us and give Matt, Drod and myself the proper credit and a link back to the threads.
History:
Being bored one day and sick of Blur with all the extra services I started to rip the ROM apart. Finally getting it as clean as I can and being forced to have a bit of blur I began a search on how to get rid of it all. I ended up on the MotoDev website to see what I can find when I bumped into the D2 SDK. Shockingly it was a plain vanilla build of Android. I thought why not and tried to boot it up. Ii did ( see first video here[/URL] ) with lots of bugs. The screen res as all off and we had no radio or many other hardware functions. On top of that it ran like a turtle stuck in some molasses. I sent a message of my my buddy Matt4542 and our journey began. From there Drod and I hooked up and now we have this. It has been a long rough week getting this sucker to where it is now. It was fun, frustrating and we nearly killed each other a few times but all ended well since we have a great finished project..
We kind of built AOSP ROM by hand. Some may say it is not a true AOSP ROM but it is. There is no difference between this build and a true AOSP ROM besides any tweaks that the developer may add when creating a ROM from source. We had no choice to do it this way since Moto locked us out of the bootloader (for now and next project). Many of the apps are built from source. About 90% of the app folder is built from source. We added some packages from the DX that are a bit better and required for hardware reasons. There is NO Blur left in the ROM but for a moto-res.apk file that is required by the framework.
I want to thank Drod2169 for taking this up with me. Thanks man!!!
Drod did most of the work on the DX version after we laid out the foundation together. Glad he approached me so the DX users are able to enjoy this too!
Also, thanks to everyone else who tested the beta and RC1. Was great working with Drod! Good luck on your Rubix version!
Hope you guys with a DX enjoy this. I do not have a DX yet but would love to get one to develop this even further.
What will this ROM do?
It will give you a true Android Vanilla experience much in the same way the Original Droid (OD) did. It is not loaded with bloatware and everything functions as it should. Facebook will sync with your contacts and you will not have all of your memory being used by wasteful stuff on top of much more. Your phone will run more smoothly and feel a lot faster.
What can you do to help?
The most important thing is to provide feedback. When reporting bugs please be clear and with detailed explanation. Do not say this does not work and leave it that. The more feedback you provide will make it easier and quicker for us to kill any bugs. You may also give us a small donation to help with our continuing development of ROM and *POSSIBLY* get this bootlader cracked. It cannot be done with one device. I have a couple of friends who have experience with low level programming of chips and with their help maybe it can get done. They are Blackberry guys and not going to buy a device just for this. This is nothing more than a promise that it will be tried. I cannot say when and IF it can be done so please keep the questions to a minimum about it. If the project takes off then I will have updates. You can donate to the project by clicking HERE.

Introducing AtrICS v2.0!
by Team Hope
Unfortunately, thehope was unable to continue development of AtrICS.
So Team Hope was created to step in to help deliver what you were denied: A beautiful stock ICS experience.
This ROM is pure stock and fully Blured: nothing added and nothing removed. We intend to keep it that way.
Please don't ask for battery mods, quick panels, track skipping with the volume rocker, etc.
In time, mods will appear in the themes and apps section.
All members of Team Hope each have their own projects. This means updates may not come as frequently as you would like.
Please be patient. The team will do it's best to fix as many major problems as possible.
Some problems, if hardware related, may not be fixable within a reasonable time frame (sorry).
In the mean time, enjoy the gift we were given.
************************************
This ROM is an open source gift to the community. It may used as a base for your own ROM, just be sure to give credit to Team Hope and provide a link back to this thread.
It would also be appreciated if you would share any fixes or improvements with the community to help make AtrICS even better.

Please post your question on one of my threads.
What can you do?
_Alex_ was kind enough to create a wiki for "That Rom" (please thank him!).
Since both ROMs are closely related, it would be helpful to continue to use it for bug reports and fixes.
Providing logcats would be very helpful, but please be judicious. Posting a 10 page logcat is not very helpful.
Editing to remove non-error related processes will make the logcat much more useful. Logcats in color are the most helpful.
Post edited logcats but please save the orignal. You can even do it on your phone with aLogcat (Play Store).
Logcats capturing the following errors will be extremely helpful:
Dropped cellular data connection
SD Card related reboots

Smart actions works pity they don't have any more volume actions other than ringer volume!

Introducing Atrix-MROM-ICS. Custom ROM for the Atrix 4G
This is my attempt to build an ICS ROM for the Atrix 4G completely built from source code; Atrix-MROM-ICS is built on top of Cyanogen ROM latest source code, currently 9, kernel 2.6.39.4, and Motorola proprietary ICS drivers. I recompiled all components to guarantee maximum efficiency and performance. Along the way, I realized that I needed things to work different for the Atrix 4G, so I also made some changes. If you like my work, consider a donation to my cause.
BIG THANKS TO EPINTER FOR HELPING ME.
BUILT FROM SOURCE PROOF https://github.com/MROM. Every developer should provide proof that he is building from source.
CURRENT KNOWN ISSUES:
Camera Flash not timed correctly
Sometimes slow to wake up
Wi-Fi policy must be kept to Always to avoid most reboots
Wake up after phone call is slow
Occasional weird behaviors due to the kernel instability
Not all Atrix can run this ICS build until a more reliable kernel is released
Fingerprint sensor not working
Atrix-MROM is entirely build from source. You will see the difference when you run it. Just to list a few features:
Boot time in about 30 seconds
Quick and responsive
Contains all the most common Atrix tweaks
MIUI Camera for a better picture experience
QuickPic gallery application
SuperSU for better super user administration
While I tried to maintain the main core small, size is not the main focus.
Requirements:
Clockworkmod or compatible recovery
Atrix 4G with an unlocked bootloader
WARNING: I DECLINE ANY RESPONSIBILITY IN DAMAGING YOUR PHONE. YOU ASSUME ALL RISKS IN ANY PROCESS DESCRIBED ON THIS PAGE.
Installation:

Apply Ram Fix for your appropriate hardware tegra d00 or 1100 *** THIS IS A MANDATORY STEP ***
Boot the phone
Reboot in recovery and install Google ICS Apps (this is required to avoid the home and search button not working)

Can't find the ICS zip file from your web site.
Your download link goes to the MROM page, not the MROM-ICS page.
Sorry, the link should be correct now...
Nice! Will try this out now. Have you incorporated the nvidia control panel service? I'm seeing some positive results battery wise from that.
Thanks

Your Atrix either has the d100 architecture or the 1100 architecture. dmesg can tell you that, look arty the kernel parameters. Another thing you can do odd to apply one, if it boots, than it's the correct one, if it does not boot, than choose the other one...

Thanks to:
@g.lewarne, @hardcore, @chandler929, @Formhault, @androidindian, @noteandfound, @chasmodo, @TeamHacksung, @samsung, @CyanogenMod team, ......,
and a lot of names to add.
Brief:
First, I would like to thank the people I mentioned and not mentioned in section 2. Notably g.lewarne, you are always the owner of HydraCore. Thank you for your great work. Galaxy Note now became a legend with your masterpiece.
Secondly, I would like to thank all people who gave me support, encourage and advise. Under your help, HydraCore has became a really universal and almost perfect kernel.
In this new thread, the legendary Universal Kernel has a new name -- HydraCoreNirvana. I think the word Nirvana can tell the story of HydraCore. With the new name, the kernel steped onto a new stage -- bootable on JB leaks. It is not fully functional, but it is a good beginning.
I have to say that I am not a dev. And I am another Child's Slave who use lavatory time as off hours. I really don’t know how far I can go on this. So please, forgive me if someday I got stuck and be absent like Gavin.
......long after n6......
For a long time I kept absent. I really found it hard to go on especially after the CM team upgraded the Mali driver. I am not the right guy to do the library job. So I switched to Samsung Opensource codes.
The first thing I did was building the Speedmod. I succussed. Meanwhile I made a build with Speedmod kernel image and PhilZ touch recovery initramfs. These builds worked fine with new released TouchWiz Jelly Beans. However, the CM code is going away with the Samsung Opensource codes. There are too many differences between them. The HOME button key issue was one result of this. It is harder and harder to combine CM and TouchWiz in one kernel. It is not just an universal initramfs, the kernel image itself needs to be universalized.
So I have to make a lamentable decision that from now on, I will stick with Samsung Opensource codes. So TouchWiz Jelly Beans will be supported prior to CM and other AOSP roms which have good enough kernels. Legacy features of HydraCore will be transplanted to the new builds one by one with careful test. CM and other AOSP roms maybe bootable with the new builds, but the functionality will not be guaranteed.
At last, thank you all for your long time support. I will keep on building this kernel and try my best to keep it Hydra for everyone. But for now, I can only step on one side, and I choose TouchWiz.
......more to add......
Technical Description:
Safety: mem_cap_erase disabled, so this is a safe kernel.
ROM Support:
ICS (4.0.X):
TouchWiz Based: TouchWiz ICS fully supported. Official MIUI still can not boot to system, adb works.
AOSP Based: CM9 fully supported, AOKP and some PA......, and maybe other untested roms.
JB (4.1.X):
TouchWiz Based: TouchWiz JB, MIUI made by TWJB + Patchrom from http://www.miui.com/extra.php?mod=download/rom&fid=133 fully supported.
AOSP Based: CM10 fully supported, AOKP and some PA......, and maybe other untested roms.
JB (4.2.X):
TouchWiz Based: Not out even leaked yet
AOSP Based: CM10.1 has bootloop with display.
Recovery: CWM 6 non touch recovery from @Phil3759: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1927097.
Root privilege: ADB and LBE superuser.
Usage:
Place the ZIP in the TF card.
Root the phone: If you and if you are sure that you have a safe kernel with CWM jume to next. If you phone is unrooted, Flash the TAR version in Odin to get Root and CWM.
Now you may meet bootloop, Press UP + HOME + POWER until you see the CWM interface. (the phone will never boot to the system with a stock rom flashed a TAR version)
Flash the ZIP in CWM.
Enjoy
Please don't ask me how to use CWM. If you don't know, don't flash any kernel.
Download with Changelog:
Instructions:
These are SourceForge folders, so open in a browser. The corresponding source is included in the same folder.
Not all releases will be kept in this post, find the old ones in the repository. I will keep all files as long as possible. (It seems SourceForge don't delete old files.)
Little trick: maybe you can try middle-click the links, a new tab maybe opened.
Notice: If you met black screen or bootloop after flashing the tar file. Try the zip package (The recovery should be working). The standalong Mali libraries might fix the problem.

Changelog:
Kernel: Pushed kernel version to 3.0.83.
Defconfig: Reverted pmem settings to fix video overlap. The bug is reported fixed.
Defconfig: Reenabled Samsung MTP. The hang of the MTP software on my MIUI v5 TouchWiz Patchrom fixed.
Makefile: Brought more legacy HydraCore tweaks including cpu and fpu tweaks.

Changelog:
Kernel: Pushed kernel version to 3.0.82.
Network: Fixed wifi tethering.
Audio: Fixed mic in software like talking animals, recoders, etc.
Mali: Tweaked thresholds to reduce lag on some heavy interface like MIUI desktop. Further tweaks may be needed.
Tweaks: Some small tweaks.
Platform: Switched to coLinux. Now it is ideal for me. It is a real linux like vmware, it uses less resource like cygwin, and it is fast like a directly installed linux.
Toolchain: Switched back to Linaro 4.7 with LTO.

Defconfig: Brought more legacy HydraCore options which may be not noticeable.
HydraFS: Some workaround to MIUI. Now official MIUI v4 can boot to adb, positive. But the system is still not usable.
Platform: Switched to cygwin.
Toolchain: Switched to cygwin 4.6.3.

Just follow the readme file.
TODO and TOFIX:
Add Multi-ROM-on-SdCard support.
Investigate the reason of the CM10 and CM10.1 failure boot.
Make MIUI v4 bootable. Fix CM boot problems.
AOSP MIUI JB support.
Bring back more HydraCore features.
Bring ability to set GPU frequency. This is extremely hard to me.
Bring ability to set CPU voltages. Found the location of the settings. Working on it.
Bring more ability to alter the kernel without reflash.
Tweak all the script included.
Study on offcial source code of JB.
64GB cards. I am not sure. 64GB exceeds Fat32 limitation. and exfat is not supported correctly.
Vibration Strength not alterable on AOSP roms. I am still working on this, maybe compile two different modules will solve the problem.
Q&A Collection:
How to flash: like I said if you don't know how to flash, then don't flash. Or you can read section 4.
Can I flash on ...?: Please get to know you rom type, AOSP or TouchWiz based, then please read section 4.
Bootloop/Freeze/..., help!: please be concrete, I can not answer questions simple like this.
Possible reasons of Black Screen: From n9, standalong Mali libraries are located in the zip. Try to use the zip package. It might fix the problem.
Possible reasons of Bootloop:
Please check your rom type see whether your rom is supported.
Another reason is the unsuppored modules. Look in to /system/lib/modules if it exist. And delete dhd.ko, j4fs.ko, scsi_wait_scan.ko and Si4709_driver.ko if they exist. Deleting dhd.ko may also fix WIFI problem.
Possible reasons of Lag: Check the governor and IO settings. Or maybe just clean the RAM. At last, reboot.
Possible reasons of Freeze: Usually happens after a heavy load work. Try to reboot. Reboot usually works.

Dear tuxafgmur, we have been waiting for you and your special work for long time!
Thanks a lot for coming back to this forum and for sharing your updated galaxy tab2 rom development! This forum needs you and your work!
I am personally using in both my tablets, P5110 and P3110, your kernel until today (links here https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-2/galaxy-tab-2-unified and here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176563) : it makes a device originaly restricted to 01GHZ to be able to run properly updated software nowadays at 1.52GHZ stable! Thats amazing! Even with battery savings if properly setup is done!
Please let me know if you need specific testing of overcloked kernels with this new slim based rom! As I wrote, updated software today needs overclock with this device to run properly: that is my opinion!
Thanks again.
PS: is it possible to use this old kernel from your previous work with this new rom ?
Hi and thank you for this new rom!

Make also sure you are using the right file. There is a version for tabs with mobile data capability (having a sim card holder) called "espresso3g" and one for tablets without sim card holder ("espressowifi").
Thanks for the help guys, I found out i had the wrong file(picked the one for mobile data instead of wi-fi). After i figured that out it installed no problem.

Explain why archaic implementations in modern systems?
It is coming:"Adding OMAP4430_CPU and GPU overclick support.
This patch adds the below config variables
OMAP4430_CPU_HAS_MPU_1_2GHZ
OMAP4430_CPU_HAS_MPU_1_4GHZ
OMAP4430_GPU_HAS_MPU_384MHZ
OMAP4430_GPU_HAS_MPU_512MHZ
to enable CPU's 1216, 1360 and 1472 MHz frequencies, also GPU's 384 and 512 MHz.
The patch also ensures that the CPU never starts at boot higer than 1216 MHZ
On the other hand, it adds an interface to allow changing core voltages."
