where do i put the BOOTSTRAP.APK. what folder? - Motorola Droid 3

where does bootstrap.apk go
finally managed to root the 5.7
everytime I power on and hold M i got to the selection screen.
but every selection just powers on the phone normally.
that means i need bootstrap right? I have it from 5.6 but i dont remember where it goes because my old droid screen took a dump
I dont even know how I managed to make a backup on my old phone with no vision, but i did.
PLEASE HELP
okay so I got bootstrap working and I restored my backup from 5.6
now my phone isnt turning on. its stuck on the red eye.
anyone know what I can do?
NEVER MIND IT JUST TOOK AWHILE.... thanks anyways

Oh God. This sounds ugly... You are selecting BP Tools from the M+Power menu, right? Secondly, it doesn't matter where you put the APK on the phone, what matters is installing the APK and installing the recovery. Finally, what kind of 5.6 backup did you restore? Apps from Titanium Backup, My BackUpPro, etc. or a nandroid backup in recovery?
Also, can we move this to general? TYIA.

Not sure how to move this thread to a different area...
I restored a nandroid backup in recovery
is it suppose to be missing certain files because I had to drag a bunch of store from my old droid to my comp and then to my new one
(like photos, the roms folder for my emulater, bloat freezing folder for script manager.)
Now my gallery dosnt work. pictures wont show when i go to gallery --> my library
but i can see them in astro in the DCIM folder.
should the NANDroid have backed all that up and restored it???

It does not back up anything on your SD card, like photos, music etc.

That stuff wasnt on my SD card. it was all on the phone.
could my phone have not finished backing up and made the backup file anyway? my old phone screen when out and I made the backup in recovery without being able to see it.
Is there anyway to fix my gallery so I can access my pictures again?

They may not have been on your EXTERNAL SD card, but they were on some form of storage, probably the internal sd card.
Also, you should never have restored a 5.6 nandroid over a 5.7 system. It would have reverted your /system partition and can cause issues with 5.6 and 5.7 components.

Ya neither sd gets backed up. It would cause some storage issues if you had mostly full storage, you would not have room for the backup.
As for your other question someone else may know. The 860 only ever had 1 update so I've never had to deal with different system versions

Cant wipe all data with factory reset or Odin 1 click!!! HELP

Hi, Im trying to exchange my phone and Im having issues with getting the phone bone stock. I used odin 1 click, did a factory data reset, and all my pictures, app folders and various other things are still on the internal SD card. I was using titanium backup, I think thats the cause (not sure though)
I also just flashed JH3, super rooter, and the OC kernel. But as far as I can tell, those are back to factory. I just cant wipe all my data and I dont know if doing it manually will clear up everything.
Suggestions/questions? Thanks!
I even tried the master clear. I can still see files for shootme, sl4a, clockworkmod, update.zip's, and tons of other folders including busybox
Did you try connecting your phone to your computer, mounting the sd card, then open the driver than your sd card is on and manually delete the files that way? You can move the titanium back up to an external sd card and see if that helps.
Go to Titanium Backup support and shoot them a pm, they got back to me within a day when I had questions if you think it's related to that.

I can do that, But what Im worried about is all the application data (including data for apps that require root) wont be deleted. Im not sure exactly what I would have to do to remove that as well. I wanted to leave it there, so that if I did manage to wipe it, Id know for sure everything was gone.
Ill also try sending them a message. Is it on that forum site they link to? Its not very clear as to how to contact them

I pm'd Shazd, I have the pro donated version so I had everything backed up, moved the folder for Titanium Backup and the folder for Titanium license to my exteral card. Then I flashed with Odin to stock and swapped my phone for a new one. Then I put the sd card in the new phone, connected to my computer and moved the files to the internal sd, installed Titanium from the market and when it installed my entire backup was there, settings, apps, and data were all there. I did a restore and everything was just as my old phone. Then I installed Unleash The Beast, the cool battery indicator, thanks to Designgears and the rest is history. When I flashed with Odin, all evidence of root were gone. AT&T didn't even check the phone, all I said was random shutdowns and a crack in the screen and they swapped it.
I have the paid donate version as well. I mean, I have the backup saved to my microsd and on my computer, Its just weird, I mean for some reason its not wiping. Im literally trying everything. I had a backup with clockwork mod and I re-rooted with 1 click root so that I could run that... It may be super rooter, Im starting to think thats more the case. But I really am just stumped
I flashed with Odin3 one click, maybe that's the difference. What did you use exactly?

Both versions lol. 1-click and version 1.0 or whatever by flashing the stock firmware Jh6 from samsung-firmwares.com. I even tried a factory data reset
It may just be files in my internal SD card themselves that arent being deleted... but Im not really sure
It didn't wipe all of my info when I did master clear and then doing the one click wipe. I'm bit sure why it wouldn't either but it did remove most of what I wanted gone.
Sweet life
Huh... Well I did a bunch of clear cache things, wiped my internal sd, and went throught my phone with root explorer and deleted whatever else I found. Wow that was a huge hassle
I think the best thing to do in the future is clear all user data through clockwork, then use odin for master clear then odin start to do it all. It is a hassle that's for sure.
The SD cards (internal and external) are not cleared with a full system wipe. When you delete all data through a system clear, it deletes everything stored internally to apps - in the phone memory where apps are installed.
Although the internal SD card is not really an SD card, the system treats it as an SD card. You can unmount both internal and external SD cards and then format them - that will wipe all data. Follow that with a system reset or Odin 1 click recovery and everything on your phone is factory new.
The phone is behaving as designed.

[Q] Nandroid Doesn't Backup Apps?

At first i thought that nandroid just backed up your system files, and that was fine until i tried it on my friend's incredible, and found out it backed up all his apps too. Is there a setting i need to change to make it do that or something? I'm using cognition 2.3b8
EDIT: ahh nevermind. I did a backup just now, and it said that because i had no external SD card in, it skipped the backup of applications.... weird. Let me change the question then. Is there a way to make it just backup the apps on the internal sd card?

[Q] Titanium Backup "0 Apps Loaded"

Does anyone know why Titanium Backup would all of a sudden stop loading it's backups? I have them stored on an external SD card that I have used through multiple flashes without issue, then yesterday I had to reinstall Continuum 5.5. When I went to use my backups, TiBu just says "0 apps loaded". It finds the folder just fine, and allows me to select it, but won't load the backups. Can anyone help me? Is is possible something got corrupted, and if so, how do I go about isolating that to be able to get anything I can restored?
Did you hit the "problems?" Button on the first page of tibu and install busybox?
Yes, as soon as I realized I had a problem, the very first thing I did was click the great big button saying "Problems?"
I also tried moving the backups from external SD to internal SD, no dice. Next I'm going to try using older backups, but that is less than ideal since I wasn't the most dedicated in keeping them up-to-date (of course).

What i noticed that helps sometimes is this: Go to the preferences and select the Backup Folder Location --> Click Detect. This should find your backups either on internal or external. From there i reload the application. Even this sometimes does not fix the issue. If i reload and no apps are found i reboot the device. This has always repopulated my Apps and from there do the batch restore.
Best of luck
Thanks, Rizz, but that is how I normally have to do it since I keep my backups on my external SD card. It's really bizarre, I've never had ANY problem using Titanium and I have been using it since October, flashing new ROMs basically every other week! I think a file must have gotten corrupted somehow, and I can't figure out which, so I guess I am going to have to revert to a backup several months old. I used to keep it synched with my Dropbox folder so I would always have a current backup available, but I guess I got lazy this one time and didn't set it up right. Figures it would be the one time I need it, right?

[Q] Rooted X8 SD Card Memory Problem

Before I rooted my X8 my SD memory card had at least 1.3/ 1.4 GB space on it, which I am definatly sure about, but after the root it says that I have no space on it at all.
What gives, any ideas on how to fix it?
Copy all files to PC, format it in fat16 and copy files back.
Probably you have some errors on card.
Thanks! Hope that, that's the case.
It wasn't the case :L Something has taken up all the space... Could it have been the backup that Titanium Backup did? And how do I get rid of it?
The backup that is.
Just browse SD and delete you thing is unnecessary. Just make backup first
I don`t think that TB can make so big backup.
Don't take this the wrong way, but, rooting has nothing to do with the SDCard. Can you tell us exactly what is it you did until you've discovered that you lost the space on the SD?
beacuse, my theory is that after you rooted, you went and tried to install a new ROM, and consequently made a backup of the previous ROM. that's around 200MB, add the ROM you were planning to install plus another backup...
I havent changed the ROM on my phone yet. I havent got the confidence to yet. All I have done is rooted my phone using superoneclick, downloaded and installed titanium backup and apttek app manager, and then did a full backup using TB. After that I then noticed I had no space left on my sd card.
It doesnt matter as such now as I just bought a 4Gb card.
That is strange. Try exploring the card in windows. Might find out what's taking up space.

Did you select "charge phone" when prompted to plug the phone in super one click? You may have mounted the SD card and that might be the problem.
Yes, I did everything the tutorial told me to do :L

Issue with TWRP Recovery and back up of Nandroid Plz Help

I am running ARHD 10.1 based on JB 4.2.2. and my recovery is TWRP. The issue I am having started when I updated the rom from 9 something to 10.1. It was recommended that I back up the sd and then restore it back on the phone after the rom flash. I deleted everything from the sd card and then transferred the files to make sure the the files don't get corrupt if it was merged. However, this method was a headache and some files were harder to transfer. After I got everything back to normal I noticed one thing. My old back up of nandroid are still in the sd card, but don't show up in recovery and my new back after the transfer of files to sd card do not show up in the TWRP back up file in the sd card, but I can see the new backup of nandroid in recovery. Why is that. I looked everywhere in the sd card and I can't find any other place it will save them. So where did my phone save them and where can i find it in the sd card?
its /data/media/clockworkmod/backup for cwm but im not sure about twrp

Before I had this issue it was /TWRP/BACKUPS/FA34MW904643/
but I only see the old back ups before the issue. The new back ups is no where to be found on the sd card, but I can see the new ones in recovery, but not the old backups.

In my phone after JB 4.2.2 , the TWRP backups saved in the folder storage/emulated/0/TWRP
If nothing ,try to check data/media/twrp or data/media/0/twrp

I found the new back ups in data/media/0/twrp, but I only see it in the file manager in twrp. The folder is shown empty on es explorer with the phone turned on and I do not see phone files when plugged into the computer, only sd. How can I view phone files on the computer.
You need ES set to root explorer to view the contents of /data

Yes, you need root permissions for access to /data/media...
In general, something not so with your phone (file system), the path /data/media/0/twrp and path /storage/emuleted/0/twrp are "symlink". My advise, after you will take backup, keep all applications and data and make factory reset with formatting of internal sd under JB 4.2.2.
