galaxy r has the exact same version of tegra 2 as o2x, plus, it isnt the first tegra 2 to get ics as the first post states...

It's the same with our Optimus 2x, that's why there are a lot of false hopes that we can get something once galaxy r has ics. This has been cleared by tonp in an interview with arcee recently...

you need the drivers to be specificly made for our tegra 2 version as much as you need the drivers to be specificly made for our motherboard (lge star) and that is why no matter how many tegra 2 devices get ics none will help, the only chance i see is if there was another device from lg with same motherboard\chipset combo, but as far as i know there isnt any, so all any dev can do is wait i think. many people talk about reverse engineering to figure the drivers out, idk if that possible, but even if it is, i think it would be toooooooooooooooo much work and going into foreign territories without lg or nvidias instruction sets
There is a small chance that LG Optimus Q2 and Optimus EX also have a star-like board (they are not known as LGE Star, but its still possible, being LG AP20H devices).
No need to give facepalms to this, neither have they got ICS, just wondering out of curiosity.

didnt know bout those two phones, but even if its a star board there may be differences i think, coz if im right, even the type of camera, baseband and so on will affect the drivers

dont forget, samsung is way way bigger than lg and has been around for a lot longer, that does play a huge role when ur hiring developers coz the best will always want to work for the richest company, in my opinion...

Why would anyone want to do this? I understand the desire to port some functionality, but a whole rom? Even if it were possible you would have to be insane to invest such a heavy amount of work without charging people for it. But who would pay enough for that?

Well, problem is that Nvidia is sitting on their binaries and is not going to release sources. So there is no further development of new drivers/binaries for ICS.
I have read that you can build ICS with a lot of work and the old binaries from Froyo/GB but it will not have a GPU accelerated UI.
So kicking Nvidias' and LGs' arse is neccessary for a nice CM9.

I really want to believe to be true.
Maybe I'm naive.
That the LG Optimus 2X is going to get Ice Cream Sandwich eventually is something that we know already. After all, the company itself made the announcement of an upcoming ICS update quite a while ago. However, we didn't have much information as to when the said update was going to be released... until today.
As stated by LG Mobile Singapore on Facebook, the LG Optimus 2X Android 4.0 update will start rolling out in Q3 of this year. In other words, there will be no Ice Cream Sandwich for LG Optimus 2X owners for at least another one and a half to three and a half months. Or at least not for those located in Singapore and the surrounding markets.
So there you go, folks: more evidence confirming that Android 4.0 updates can be painfully slow.

There should be no problem, if we get drivers for Tegra2. The XOOM gets JB, which means JB will run on Tegra2. The Nexus S will get JB, too. So there should be no problem with 512 MB RAM,

We are working on a 4.1 release Yes... Do we have those drivers or do i think we'll get them?...Not a chance. Even if Xoom shares Tegra drivers its a totally different board and not a Star platform =useless.

NVidia is smart. They wouldn't leave it on an internet connected computer. Only on a LAN, that is inaccessible from the internet. Only to employees with password.
JB on O2X would be awesome , but as of now , I don't think even the ICS roms are pretty stable when it comes to total stability in all fronts :/
Nova seemed to be the best of the lot , still crashes a lot when using some apps and no 3D acceleration n even unable record videos , so how good would a JB release be?
Surely would love to use it n waiting for it since I believe our device can handle it

I guess we won't get official JB from LG anymore, but as soon as we get ICS (which will be God knows when but I still have faith it will happen eventually) the Custom ROMs will surely be able to give us JB, since it is only incremental over ICS:
I imagine every JB ROM currently in development will have, at the very least, the same limitations as the ICS ROMs for the O2x have. Just keep in mind that no release for any other Tegra2 based device will do us any good since the platforms differ in ways that will make reverse engineering or serious hacking necessary to make it work, which is infeasible to do if you are a non-profit dev.
I agree this thread has to be moved to the Q&A section. I just wanted to give my 2 cents
But is LG not obligated to deliver JB to the LG O2X? It was released march 2011. JB was released June 2012. Didn't LG sign to the 18 months rule by Google? They also did release a white one later.

We have a stable software, it's called STOCK. It is more stable than any of the custom ROMs available and, if you disable MLT, the battery life isn't too bad either.
What you mean is that you're going to try and petition LG to release Kitkat (how I hate that name) for our device - well good luck with that, but you won't change anything, they either will or will not release it depending on how they feel and what plans they have.

Is Stock stable? I don't think... an incredible hot from battery if you use a simple game as dead trigger, the mistery of the " offline mode", automatic unlock of screen and the launcher that is sh...t, do you think that is a stable firmware?
However, if you dislike this initiative... simply doesn't comment, is better to try that to fail without tentatives...

The OP isn't a noob, he's been a member for 6 months.
I didn't snap at him. Where is there anything in my post that was a snap? I merely stated that the stock ROM is stable, which it is, and that petitioning LG will not achieve anything.
We already have at least one ”Upgrade" thread and don't need another one, but that wasn't the point I was trying to make.
As for being "butthurt", you come across as being unable to deal with anything that is not in your comfort zone. This is the Interwebz so get used to it - no wonder we hear so many stories about kids killing themselves because they were being "bullied on Facebook" or something equally stupid.
I am positive most of the time, yes I do criticise noobs who ask stupid questions because I have watched this site deteriorate over the last couple of years under its own success, mostly due to kids coming on here and simply expecting to get the answer to any question or teasing it like another cr4ppy social media site.

LG Optimus 4X it is not in the list of device who have android 4.4 kit kat upgrade, the petition who i open is for our device only, and i request upgrade for stability, battery drain and better kernel.

there is no "public list" of devices who will have 4.4kitkat made by lg
