I'm currently using team android jellybean and its super smooth and fast due to project butter. It can be used for daily use, so your wife can call and text like normal. However if you prefer a more stabler ROM I recommend team nyx. Its ICS (android 4.0) and team android jellybean is jellybean (android 4.1).
Ps. Both are great

Just got the wife one of these and installed cm9 rc2,everything is spot on...
I did have cm9 stable but had an issue with ringtones so reverted back to the rc2 version.
why not start with the stable and if theres any issues its straightforward to roll back to rc2 without losing any data etc...

[Q] If I just want a slim and stable GB ROM, what do you recommend?

Hey guys, UPS tells me the Note will be here by Friday. This is my 5 (6?) Android device.
Ideally I would like to have a stable 2.X MIUI ROM. I like MIUI so much I even make some themes. Anyway, it doesn't look like there is good MIUI support. So I would like to have a very stable and slim GB ROM.
What do you recommend? Looking through the Android development forum I see most of the threads are about ICS. I don't want to venture in that territory right now.
Just want to be sure: if I am only flashing GB roms I am safe to use CWM correct?
I am sorry this is a noob question but one problem with xda's structure is that you can never find a decent rom comparison thread in most of the device forums. Lay it on me.
only miui roms so far are ics ones
yes flashing gb roms is fine from cwm

You are also safe on CM9-based ICS Roms. They all have safe kernel developed from I9100 source code. The slimmest of these Roms is Asylum. It's under 100 Mbs.
Does the ICS CM9 rom hasve hardware acceleration, Chrome working? If not I rather stay with older kernel.
I need good theme support, Go launcher run smooth on which ROM?
i guess u can enable HW accl in cm9..

chrome works as well..
u might need to use the older version of chrome if u wanna use custom dpi.. but rest everythin is good..

[Q] ICS Custom ROM's for me?

As I have updated from a SSGS1 to a SXS, I have given my old SSGS1 to my sister.
It is currently running on Darky's ROM (GB).
I wish to upgrade it to ICS.
Basically, what is the most stable ICS custom ROM around?
I see that there are ALOT of ROM's and I do not know which one to pick.
And can you please send me the link to it and instructions to upgrading from my current ROM to that.
I really do apologize for my noobiness as I have not touched the forums in AGES and things have changed.
Thanks you!
i also used to be on darky rom (GB). I think you should just skip ICS all together and go straight for Jelly bean ROMS. I haven't heard much good news about ICS and there's so many beautifully stable and smooth roms for JB.

Ahhh okay. If that's the case thencan you link me to some stable JB ROM's?
Whats wrong with CyanogenMod? CM9.1 stable would be my advice. JB isn't much better at this point and there are still bugs and unimplemented features.
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/ select your device and look whats available
I'm using xbean for a couple of weeks on my old phone and it's all good. No crashes/restarts/etc you can give it a go.
Don't forget to say thanks if this post helped you.

[Q] What is the fastest (and the best) ROM for Galaxy Ace?

Hi guys,
I'm using CyanogenMod 7.2, but it started to become painfully slow and it crashes almost every day. So I'm think about installing another ROM, but to be honest, after reading recent topics with custom ROMs, I really can't decide which one should I download. I would like to have an ICS or higher, but if there is a ROM on 2.3 that is way faster than any ROMs on 4.0 and higher, I can install the Gingerbread.
What are your recommendations? I'm currently interested in modded CyanogenMod 10.1, ImaGinary ICS Final and Touchwiz Revolutionised 5.0.
Thanks in advance!

Ok, I get it, but... how should I choose the best one - which is most suitable for me - when people can't express their opinions about different ROMs? Most of the posts in particular ROMs threads are related to some broken stuff etc., so it is hard to find same opinions.

hello, I cant answer your question, I can only give you an idea of what I experienced and read out there. Like all of us, you have to experience, have fun, and make your own evaluation, I begin to suggest you to choose spacecaker's rom , or you can get the stock rom with new kernel, andrenaline engine and Darktremor.
But dont stay with those, try some more a get back to tell us your opinion
Hope I helped

I completely agree with quashqool. U shud search n try n get a first hand experience yourself. Some users want battery life, some want performance and some want UI. So people review different ROMs differently. However I have created a thread to answer this and similar questions. You may try it here

The ROM Im Already Using Is Tw5 JB ROM (4.1.2 - 4.2.1) it is very fast and smooth and good looking ,it doesnt flash the kernel and it doesnt spend so much battery
ROM][CM10.1][S4 UI][UPDATE]Touchwiz Revolutionised 5.0 v2.0 [21.7.13]
Sky_Walker_Studios :good::good::good::good::good:
I'm using one of those that you mentioned: modded CyanogenMod 10.1 and then on top of it I installed PurePerformances™X.
I've tried Miracle V4 and M'rage. This setup seems better to me in every way, but that is just my opinion. It also depends if you like CM or stock roms..

[REQ] rom with no bugs

can any one give a rom that has no bug because ihave read some post about roms that has a bug like camre, wifi etc.
i have rooted my phone and iwant some rom thats not heavy and is smooth thanx
also some steps on how to's:fingers-crossed:
Im currently trying Mardon ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2212438 so far I didn't run into any problems and its running well.
I would suggest you try a many roms and then decide which on is best for you, its hard to tell. Some people want performance others want battery life etc.
Good luck!
I want to be rich, to have a Ferrari parked opposite my house and to eat gold every day....
Never ask for the best rom... and similar questions, if you want a bugfree rom build it yourself if not help devs testing roms and reporting bugs.
You are new here, PLEASE READ RULES BEFORE POSTING NOTHING AND USE Q&A THREAD FOR ASKING THIS KIND OF QUESTIONS
Thank you

Maclaw's AOSP
Since i discovered Maclaw's 4.2.2 AOSP i will never go back to something else then a Maclaw one, there aren't any bugs so far and is without a doubt the fastest smoothest JB rom for our Ace out there.

Try search for stocklite or stockrom evolution.

I prefer CM 7.2 based roms than CM10 or stock based because in my opinion, It is by far the most stable and battery friendly. CM10 is faster and smoother, but I prefer stability and battery consumption. I haven't tried CM9 yet, but when I find time, I would surely love to test it out.
Rom without bugs
Stock rom is the best if you dont want any bugs, if you want an ics rom, then choose for the maclaw rom.

Hi guys! I have a question on stock roms..

I've been away from the S3 mini section on Xda for a while now, so I'm fairly unaware on the latest roms available and what they're like.
I've decided to give the S3 mini to my dad as his entry into the Android world..
Can you lovely experienced users advise me on the latest roms available? The last I knew, Benz rom and dmod were the best and most stable versions and had the best features.
My dads not as experienced as I am so once I give him the phone I'd like for the phone to be very stable and have good battery life versus performance.
Suggestions please?
I hear Tyson made a rom. Hey fella

There are a lot of ROM´s dude...
Some like CM, others SlimBean, ....
I prefer debloated and deodexed ROM with init.d support just like somin.n ROM or Virginity
Try it by yourself.
If you want to keep for phone stable to give it to your dad, then stick with stock or something like benzrom or dmod.
My personal suggestion is that you go for Maclaw's CM 10.2, which has the best battery life, an improved kernel and, well, it is android 4.3
If you wanted to try the latest features, but not final version yet, you could try Maclaw's CM 11. It's a great rom, that works flawless in our devices. Nevertheless, it stills has some small bugs that will be solved in future releases.
The link to maclaw is maclaw.p , give it a try!
PS: remember to flash gapps!
