Has anyone tried going from one of the leaked builds to the OTA? Can it be done without losing data?
Yes, you can go from an earlier leak to. 217 without losing your data. Use the Droid 4 utility linked elsewhere in the forums and follow the directions in the post.
Thanks! I guess I just need the update patch much like how I upgraded from gb to Ics?

Use jsnweitzel's ICS Only Utility. You will need both the .217 blur update file and the ICSFIX image file.

Why not just faatboot the official? Might save you a lot of time. Btw going from .215 required a data reset

You can't fastboot .213 after being on a ICS leak. Btw, I used the excellent ICS-only tool kit, and in about half an hour I was running the official OTA with no data lost. Excellent job, Droid 4 devs!
He meant ICS fastboot files: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1832992
Fastboot does not preserve data, but yes, that would have worked if nothing else did.

The new 5.7.893 OTA was just found today on stage 1 via cheesecake. Its only a 4 Meg update from those running 5.6.893. If you are using the p3droid forever root, it doesnt break it.
I'm running it and haven't noticed any issues except webtop seems broken.

From what I understand, only those who have installed one of the "leaked" version found via Cheesecake are seeing this OTA.
If you have a stock/release level Bionic, you wont see this...
on my x10i
i dont think ota works
on the motorola forums they stated that the ota is in testing and will be out in 30 to 60 days.

Hello. I have a leaked update that i have applied. I need someone else to also updated so i can get a nandroid of your system. I screwed mine up and cant test my next update. The update is just a radio so you can keep root with voodoo or reroot using the old method. Hit me up at [email protected] we can talk and i can help. These files should never go public as fastboot might not work.
Sent from my DROID4 using Tapatalk
leaked update? radios? lets get some more info dude!!
I think I'm afraid to help by actually installing the radio, but do you know if it improves stability of signal? I have noticed the D4 occasionally losing data connectivity, although it says it still has bars and will receive phone calls (I think) during that time. (The problem goes away within seconds, but it is still somewhat annoying)
Ignore this. We have found the issue and will have everything fixed lol once we have fastboot files all will be released if the fastboot is able to revert them back.
Sent from my DROID4 using Tapatalk
nope, not ignoring it... you peaked my interest... can you at least tell us a little more about it?
Ill release more if someone running true stock meaning nothing has been removed creates me a nandroid of it using safestrap and sends me that file. I need a 215 system for a test. I promise to release information

Thats a totally different thing
Sent from my DROID4 using Tapatalk
Okay fixed it lol here's the news. The 219 is really just a new radio. I won't release it till a fast boot is found. The second update I wanted to apply was 220 problem is we can't figure out what to update from. 215 and 219 both fail the assert process. Meaning they can't install. 220 has a radio kernel bootloader and is labeled rev package. A rev package is a reverse package meaning it may have something good but its at 97% that it isn't anything special. So nothing to freak out about. If we had fastboot files all would be released after the precautions were taken.

Newb here
Do you still need this?
As you can see from my post count, I'm new...new enough that I have not yet rooted my Droid 4, but I've been planning to. I might as well do it in a way that's helpful to developers if you still need that nandroid backup, but if you no longer need it, then I'm inclined to wait and see if fastboot files become available or until a non-beta ICS ROM comes out and lots and lots of forums members say it works on Droid 4 with no gripes.

Thank you but im good now lol just waiting now till 220 gets fixed by moto

Did you make sure you were using a Safestrap compatible version? Remember a safestrap rom is different than a regular rom.

i just took the D3 version of it that i was running on my d3 and flashed it. didnt boot though.
Can you give me a link to the thread where you downloaded the rom you are flashing?

If you read the first post, it explicity says "cwm only". It is not a safestrap rom. Also, liberty is based on the Droid 3 stock rom. If you want to port it, here are the first steps:
1. Get an updated Safestrap rom that incorporates the lates Motorola patch. (We will want the performance and battery boost it gives the d4)
2. DeOdex the ROM from step 1.
3. Prepare a sort of blank slate to start with, by ripping out everything not necessary.
At this point, we can start adding the Liberty customizations.

Is it your motoblur LT deodexed? If so that is what I have been waiting for. I love gummy but would go full stock if I could change some or the icons safely. like the green battery icon. It just looks retarded with the blue 3g, 4g and wifi icons. If I knew how to deodex a rom I would attempt it myself, are there any instructions available for doing this ones self? Thanks for what you have done and are attempting.

Unfortunately, it is not yet deodexed. I just spent the last 3 hours trying to, and the resulting update.zip looks fine, but it won't boot. For now, though, it is very debloated and slightly deblured.

I went 902 to 905 renamed zip to update.zip and it was a no go.
No need to rename it. But when you say "a no go" that's really not providing any information that people can help you with. Some versions of this put the update zip inside another zip with a crc file. If that's the version you have, you need to unzip the update zip and put that on your sdcard-ext. Then go into recovery and do the update from zip option.
Does this leak make all Bionics run at 1.2GHz, or are people like me with a certain revision processor not going to see that boost in performance?
Waiting official version hihihi

Only 1 number really? 1 number can be major differences. You really can't tell anything by a number.
Just an FYI.
As I was preparing to sideload this and had just gotten a fresh build of 905 loaded, I rebooted and was greeted with a notification to download this update to my phone!
I am not on the soak test list nor am I registered for the Bionic on Motorola's support site. This means that this version will definitely be the OTA and will likely start pushing out to all users very shortly.
I unrooted my bionic and downloaded the ics soak test build. When it installed it failed.

What kind of forum is this? What do you mean you can't see my phone through the interwebs...
This is what you needed to have done prior to the push to .246
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1810373
You could use root checker from the play store for free to verify that you are not rooted but it should have cleared your root once you FXZ'ed back to .905
there really is not a lot of detail to it, i have unfrozen everything and used voodoo to unroot and it fails
are you on .902? .905? ICS leak?
Do you have bootstrap or safestrap installed? If so, that will prevent you from being able to update.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2
Are you getting any kind of error? Of so what is it? Where is it happening?
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda app-developers app
Voodoo does more than just plan old root. I recommend going back to 905 via RSD. I actually rooted my 905 fxz restore (using motofail by drjbliss) before installing the OTA, and it installed fine.
Something Voodoo or some other root app did is causing the OTA pre-install checks to fail. Backup with TiB and fxz back is the fastest way to get your 246 fix.
help?
So I go to system updates and it tells me I am up to date. (I FXZed to .905 and am unrooted) Has the update not been pushed out to everyone yet? and if not were can I find it?
I went to the unsafe partition running. 905 and found no updates. I presume they are sending it out in stages.

It's not been push to the general public yet. If you're not part of the soak you'll have to find it elsewhere. Scroll back a few posts. There is a link to the file in here somewhere. You may also find it posted in another thread. I'm sure XDA's Bionic users are all over it

Dang, I must have misunderstood the article I read about it releasing today, The link in this thread is how to FXZ back to 905, Do you have any idea where I could find the soak update? I have been searching for awhile, also will it will hold root though the manual update?

I believe Sam has it up on his site . The .246 should be the same as what is being pushed, but don't take my word for it. He will probably post here.
