Noob ? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi folks,
While I'm not entirely new to xda, flashing, Modding etc my wife recently showed interest in making her s advance more personalized after seeing all the things I've been doin with my S2.
My question is this ; are there too big of differences in the advance variant of the i9000 (i9070) to use roms from this area of development? I found a rooting method but no specific development support beyond that.
Thanks in advance -p)

My girlfriend got an advance as well and I'm interested in the same. What can be flashed in the i9070?
As its not my phone, I'm not willing to experiment risking a potential brick.

I answered my own question Google led me to the rooting method so i looked a little further and sadly there is no wide spread dev support for the i9070 and i9000 roms will brick the unit. Sucks I guess the little lady is stuck on stock GB

[Q] Note Counterreset

Hi, just wanted to know if there's a solution yet to do a counterreset? It doesn't work with a SG2 Jig
Thanks in advance,
Ben
I already saw the "blind" solution, but wanted to know if there is no easier and safer way to do it

Im also curious if there's any difference in firmware if let's say i live in singapore and upgraded using the malaysia version? Since the ics for singapore isnt out yet, and i cant wait anymore, are there huge performance changes between region specific roms?

You ask the right question! I can't understand this. Does Samsung officially response on this emmc bug problem?

Say for example, you purchase an ERP software and start to modify/customize the software to your taste/requirement, and it run well w/out any issue. Later when the ERP vendor release an updated version of the software, you updated and your modified/customized component doesn't fit in and has causes corruption on your data, that is your own problem, there won't be any issue if you've used the software as it is, without modifying a single code.
The same applies to the so-called emmc bug, does it even trigger if you've use the firmware as it is? Only the dev/expert will know.
Actually it triggers during normal factory resets too.
Edit: As per the bricking threads, it has a certain percentage of happening. Making the whole thing uncertain with people having successes with some having bricks.

Cause they love quality control and want to test global recall on all ics running phones
Hihihi

The normal factory reset on a Jailbroken iPhone has different effect than on a non-jailbroken one.

I am not too sure if it is different for Android Gingerbread and ICS .

Because they're taking a gamble on it happening only in a minority of cases or a minority of users being susceptible.
Presumably they have risk assessment or a conscious thought process internally that we're not privy to. To us it looks random in occurrance. Perhaps Samsung know more about it than we do and can take calculated risks.

Buying a barely used Note.

Hello everyone,
One of my friends is looking to sell his barely used Note which he bought last month for a very good price. I may get for as low as $270. I checked the phone and I loved the screen but not the plastic-y feeling.
My question is: do you guys think it's still worth buying a Note(am not willing to pay for a note 2)? My other question is that I am a Gnex user running jelly bean and I wanted to know if there are any good jb roms available for the note ?
I also heard that Samsung said it would update the note to the official 4.1.1!

For that price, get it

How's the battery life on the note? Is there any official extended battery or any extended that doesn't make the phone bulky?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
ya you should get it as note 1 will be getting JB update's soon

Okay thanks mod. How's the battery life? Screen time on the note? Is there multiple builds of the gsm note?

If I had some different build, could I change it and flash the new 4.0.4 since the phone has 4.0.3?

you can outrightly flash stock 4.0.4 to the Gnote. You can either go flashing it via PC KIES or PC Odin. If you want custom Rom's then there's plenty around this forum as well... Just do a search on the 'Android Development' thread and check out some custom Roms that might suit to your liking.
Off topic but why do people consider the Note cheap plastic feeling? I've always had HTC before this and this phone doesn't feel cheap at all to me
probably because of the compactness. When you take battery cover off you might think cheap. I don't, It's practical so thin. So far it works great, wasn't expecting that lol

I-957 Development?

Just curious if development for this device has been lost for our lowly 8.9 LTE? I know we never had any serious effort but I would love to have a good rom to run on this device. I ran the Danno Rom for a short while but had to go back to stock due to issues I can't remember now. This really is a perfect form factor device just need some Dev love for it. Come on guys this should be interesting because it is a challenge to find the right stuff to make things work on this device.
Orlando what say you? Have you moved on to a new device? Still using the I-957?

This whole forum is basically dead. But I too world love to see some new development. If only I was smart enough and had the patience and time I might try to learn. But I'm lacking the smarts and patience.

I have to say i am pretty happy with dan-htc's AOKP Jellybean build. Never expected a lot with this tab, considering my Note2 basically doubles processing and RAM. I'm just happy not to be stuck on Stock TW for my Internet browsing and reading lol.

It should be very easy to get the newest aokp build for this tab. It's above me but it's out for the skyrocket which is basically the same thing

We are doomed, I think we are better off selling this tablet and getting the international version that seems to have a lit more of support and many roms updated to choose from...
