I have a Sprint galaxy tab I flashed to Visafone CDMA in Nigeria. I have been doing this for a while and everything works ok. Recently my tab stopped browsing, even though I have stable 3g data on it. I cannot use data on any apps on my tab, but strangely enough the hotspot works on other connected devices. I can use data on other devices connected via its hotspot. I can even use the usb dialup on the tab when I switch to modem mode, infact that is what I am using now to write this. I tried to activate daily data plan on my phone on the same network to see if it was a network issue. The phone is browsing well on the daily data plan, so it's not a network issue. Has anyone experienced this before? How can I solve this problem? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
EDIT: I found the issue. Somehow the modem got corrupt, can't figure out how and when. I flashed VZW EF01 GBLeak with its EF01 modem and I'm back browsing on the tab again. I will try and get another copy of the Sprint EF17 modem and reflash the original Sprint GB ROM. If it fixes this problem then well and good, if not...

Hey folks. I fixed my phone last night, and know how to get through the scary stuff. Now I'm having a small issue with my wireless data connection.
I'm able to use voice and messaging, and my wifi allows me to use the web. Unfortunately, I can't do anything web-based on the Rogers network.
I'm hoping there's a way to sort this out in the settings, but if not, I'm reflashing soon anyhow. Thanks for any help.
find out what your APN should be for rogers.
After switching to Firefly 3 everything kicked in perfectly. Thanks.
Used Odin to update to gingerbread from froyo on my i9000m the other day. Theres no service here at home unless I put the phone on the bathroom windowsill, so I didn't notice until today when I went to work that I wasn't getting any data network connection. Could make and receive calls fine, wifi works, but no data, so no browsing or facebook or any apps that require it. I called bell and they came to the conclusion that I have to send the phone in for repairs. Thats a absolute last resort, so I tried another factory reset, this time from the recovery menu. The first time, during set up I enabled wifi, this time on a hunch I did not, and it worked. Also note that the first time, the network connected for a split second before disconnecting again. Anyways, I was getting 3g fine, then I tried wifi, and it disconnected again. Turn off wifi, data comes back. Whats up with this?
Did you set your APN? Go
Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Network > APN Names
Then hit menu and add a new APN if none are there. If one is there, it's named something like 'browser' (at least that's what mine is called on my Bell i9000m) and I'm wrong. But I had this problem, and this is how I solved it. You can find the APN settings for your network by google-ing "[Provider] APN Settings]", and if you're on bell you can find them here:
http://support.bell.ca/en-on/Mobili..._Nexus_One_for_the_Bell_Mobility_HSPA_network
It says Nexus One but it works for all phones on bell.
settings are exactly as depicted on the bell site, except the apn was called browser instead of bell. changed that, same thing. other suggestions?
Can you tell me the version of gingerbread you're on, where you got the files, any mods to the firmware like pre rooting?

2.3.3, downloaded from here, no mods.
Alright, so totally stock. What's the version code? It should be UGKG3. Have you tried forcing a kies update with a registry hack? Was it one PDA when you flashed it or 3 files?
Sent from my GT-I9000M using XDA App
Yes, its UGKG3. I flashed with the PDA, PHONE and CSC files. I dont really know what you are talking about with regards to forcing a kies update, if you could explain I'd try it out
This has always happened to me, on Eclair, on Froyo, and now on Gingerbread. Whenever my Wifi is active *and* connected to a network, the Data through HSPA is automatically disconnected.
I always thought it was a battery saving feature - if you have Wifi access, and presumably internet access, then you don't need internet through the cell network, right?
So if you're not getting internet access when your wifi is active and connected, then perhaps it's a problem with your wifi router not passing external internet to your phone?
The thing is nothing changed besides the firmware. wifi worked fine here in the house before and no problems connecting to the data network on the go with wifi enabled. I'm really running out of ideas here.
I guess I misunderstood you before. Are you saying you have no data access at all when wifi is enabled, whether or not you are connected to a wifi network? If that is true, something is definitely wrong. That doesn't happen to me with KG3 - just checked.
Have you tried reflashing the modem file? Maybe it got messed up in your flash before?
Sent from my GT-I9000M using XDA App
yes, no data regardless of wifi connected or not, as long as its enabled.
which is the modem file?
just an update, this seems to have mysteriously fixed itself.
Hello, I am using Samsung galaxy tab. I am experiencing a problem relates to Verizon Wireless 3G. Whenever i use the browsing over the internet, or tethering with my other devices such as pc and android os. The 3G data somehow dropped ( the 3G local will disappear). I tried to click and un-click airplane mode, and data setting, but the 3G will not turn back On unless i reboot the tablet. I already bring to the Verizon Store, they told me only can do a hard reset. I don't think that will help. I am writing on xda to see if any Verizon wireless Samsung tab user experienced such problem, and do you have any suggestion and solution will help me a lot. Thank you so much.
My tablet running 2.3.5 rooted stock roms.
Since a few days I'm running the ICS stockrom on an unrooted Note. Before on the GB I was have not the best reception with Wifi, but it was working. Now, with ICS, my Wifi is connecting/disconnecting/connecting/and so on within a matter of seconds. I'm experiencing this on multiple Wifi networks. Therefore I would say it does not concern the settings of my Wifi network, also I'm practically sitting on the router (channel, reception can't be issue).
I've installed ICS via Kies and have done an additional factory reset today.
Does anybody know what could be the cause of this? And, more important, how to solve it?

Others have had similar issues - try reflashing the same modem from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1645202
I found that wi-fi and data both worked better after flashing the modem a second time.
Thank you very much it seems to be working!!
I had to look to find out how to get the phone in download mode, but got it.
Sad to say I did an unneeded factory reset this morning, but yeah it is working now!
I've been also noticing momentary WiFi disconnections ever since I upgraded to ICS.
I'm using MyPhoneExplorer to transfer files wirelessly to the device (not via USB), and ever since ICS it has became an unreliable way to transfer files. If I transfer a big file most chances are that the WiFi connection will drop during the transfer, causing it to fail.
The connection is restored immediately but then I have to restart the transfer process as it halts when the connection fails.
I have excellent signal level (physically located close to the Access Point), I tried flashing the latest modem firmware (XXLR1) - twice, I've set "2.4GHz only" in the WiFi advanced settings, all to no avail: I still get these connection drops.
The same setup (phone, access point, etc) has all been working well in the past with GB. Now with stock ICS it performs poorly.
Has anybody got any information about this problem? Been experiencing similar problems?
Thanks!
I've been getting this issue too but it seems to only be with our virgin router, all other devices connected to it are fine although the signal is a bit crap on them to its at least stable
I tried the modem flash etc but no improvement, I'm pretty sure its the ****e virgin router

At my side it seems to be working better now, steps I've taken (in this order):
1. Flashing new modem
2. Enter fixed IP address for my home Wifi
3. At Settings->Wifi->Advanced->Leave Wifi on when enabled
Especially the last seems to have done me good. I have it working in combination with BatteryFu so it does not consume my complete battery.

Well, the AP that I had problems with is a relatively recent D-Link 802.11n router. Nevertheless, I tried connecting with an old Cisco 802.11g router, and lo and behold - connection is now stable.
So, looks like there is indeed some interoperability problems but I won't dismiss this as a "****e <X-company> router" - as the same router is working well with other clients, and moreover, was working well with this phone when it was running an older GB firmware.
My conclusion is that apparently somebody at Samsung / Google has broken the Wi-Fi drivers, interoperability-wise.

You probably mean leav wifi on when screen is off? My phone is already set this way... Anyhow, thanks, but it looks like this is a problem with a specific router as I wrote in the first part of this message.
Unfortunately, XDA won't let me post here yet (which is where this belongs!): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1871113 so...
1) Modem. My baseband is recognized as P1000XXJPZ. Dialing *#*#4636#*#*: network set to GSM only (tried others though), network signal detected but GSM is "emergency calls only" and network signal indicator shows no signal. SIM is recognized (and works in other phones), can access contacts. Can find networks if I search manually but can't register on my network. Above thread suggested copying modem.bin to /system/vendor/ - did so, no effect.
2) WiFi. See the screenshot of battery usage - since I'm not using GSM or 3G due to issue #1, I normally disable radio altogether in *#*#4636#*#* and enjoy long battery life. However, CM10 did something sinister to the WiFi and the battery drains by 50-70% during just one or two hours of Google Talk via WiFi (provided I'm sitting right next to the access point). With WiFi switched off, the tablet can last for days - music, reading, etc.
My install was clean - data, cache, Dalvik cache all wiped, no custom kernel, etc. Everyting else works flawlessly, but these two issues are killjoy.
Does anyone else experience these issues? Does anyone knows why does this happen and whether it's possible to fix?

Same here.
Am thinking tht flashing an old rom might solve the problem.
