Small, folding stand with multi angle config? - Nexus 7 Accessories

Can anyone recommend a small, light, foldable stand with at least 2 angles for movie watching and typing or browsing the web?
Thanks!

I'll second this one. Picked it up for my Xoom last year and it works just as well for my Nexus 7. It's a little awkward to use and charge at the same time (since the wire comes up from the top or side), but given the price, that's just OK by me.

This is what I'm going to buy then. Thanks, guys!

Nah, I think the other one is better. This one looks like a toy, I don't trust its design...

Yeah, that looks really unstable. I'm using arkon, and it works in portrait, which is what I really wanted. I also like that it's fairly compact. -Ara

You know what I'd like to know and haven't seen on any of the reviews? The lowest possible angle, especially on the Nexus 7 which is shorter when propped in landscape mode than the iPads. Can anyone post a screenshot with theirs in this settings? I would appreciate it a lot. Thanks!

Yep, that's the one I got - LOVE IT!

I bought a Bookgem for use with my Nexus 7, Kindle Touch and paper books. You can flip it over to get different viewing angles in portrait and landscape orientations. Works a treat in landscape and taking notes. Fits the small light foldable requirements too.

That is one cool invention, but what about those spring legs, aren't they too long for the Nexus 7 bezel when in landscape mode? Could you post a screenshot or something?

No, the spring legs aren't too long, the rubber tips extend about a half centimeter onto the screen but nothing too bad. Here you go with pic (click through for bigger)

nah, the cheapest is ACTUALLY using the box... which I suggest using =P

I never even thought about using the box...that's awesome.
I picked up a $2 business card holder from Staples and glued a couple soft plastic pieces that I had in my misc. parts box to it. It holds my NC nice and sturdy now.
Walmart sells a "tablet stand" which folds up and is pretty nice

Yes, agreed. I like how you can fold the box flap at two different angles. No matter whether the "n" logo on the back of the box is face up or down you can set your NC inside the box. I rather like the position with the 'n' logo facing down. So, it's a two way stand!

which background pic is that?
Rubber band man
Wow, you all make me feel weird, now. Rubber bands, baby, that's the answer to the problem. Well, them and one of those BN NC book covers. On one side, a chain of six, triple looped. On the other side, a 4-chain, double looped. It holds it at the perfect angle for me to watch Burn Notice or anything else I please.
Also, the rubber bands double as artillery launchers!
So now people can really know the genius behind a kickstand on the EVO!
It's evolutionary!

I find the plate holders you can find at Walmart or Target work great for Gtab and the NC.
Here's youtube video of one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGMIAPdysKg
I bought the Arkon folding stand from Amazon to keep in my purse to use when I travel, shop or dine out by myself and I love it.
That said, for general use around the house I got a small $4.99 easel stand from Target (they had it out with the picture frames) that works really well, and comes in black, oak and cherry....
Both stands hold my NC with my Oberon cover on it. Very nice...

Thanks, not sure if it will sit the way I want it too from the side vertical pictures. I may need to buy it to see, which then if it doesn't I would have to send it back, ugh!
I may also need to wait for a review cause I bought one that was similar which worked fine in landscape but in portrait the stand was too flimsy to hold it up and it would just collapse

Ask me about my DODOcase

Well, got my DODOcase in the mail today. It won't shield your Nexus 7 from large amounts of physical abuse, but I got it so I can put my tablet down without having to worry about scratching it up. There is indeed a magnet embedded in it to turn the tablet on when you open it, off when you close it.
I would post a picture, but I am not allowed by the forum software.
Maybe an attachment will work?

That seemed like it devolved into a patent argument. I will answer questions there too though.
Question: if you flip the cover all the way back, does the magnet turn off the screen? Thanks.
How does it fell when holding it? As in, with the cover folded back does the thick side feel strange? Do you trust the adhesive? How thin is it when closed? How well does the stand work on a normal desk surface?
Thanks!

Without question. There is no way the tablet will come out without some serious force (not so much it does damage if you do want to remove it fthough).

I am assuming you mean setting it on its side in land-scape mode? That is the one thing that is a little weird. From what I see on the site, you basically but the elastic band underneath the opposite end. It keeps it up-right, but there is not much room for adjustment. I don't use tablets in that way very often though.

I should clarify that that actually works well for me.
I just got one of these DODOcases and I'm really impressed with it. The adhesive is surprisingly strong, once you have the Nexus 7 in place it does not budge a millimeter. I'm very partial to the low profile that this case offers. The 'smart cover' functionality works just as expected. It's not going to give you an Otterbox level of protection, but it should be enough do the job in preventing damage if you were to accidentially drop it in a normal day-to-day situation.
It's not quite as comfortable to hold with the case as it is without, particularly in landscape mode. That's to be expected since I feel that one of the real strengths of the Nexus 7 was how comfortable it is to hold, and with any case you're likely to give up a little bit of that. It feels like you're holding a small hardback book, and that's not an unpleasant feeling. The adhesive is so strong that I might be more hesitant to remove the Nexus from the case as often as I might with a different case, but that might be a good thing. The only other drawback to the case is that the stand functionality that the case offers is pretty limited, and as a result it doesn't support very good viewing angles for landscape mode viewing on a desk or table top. If they marketed a stand to go along with the case they could probably do some business.
The aesthetic touches do have a nice emotional resonance for me, it really does add a classic 'reading a book" feeling to using the Nexus.
All in all I'd give it a 9/10

I don't use facebook lol oh well. going with treegloo
I picked up a Dodo hardcase for my N7 yesterday straight at the HQ. It's pretty awesome all around.
Adhesive is strong and as was said previously, the device doesn't move a mm. That said, the power and volume buttons are awkwardly positioned because they are slightly set back from the edge of the tablet so you need to sort of wedge your finger under (not far) to push them. The landscape stand works pretty well using the elastic band and clips but the angle is not adjustable. Folded back the device feels good in the hand and the magnet doesn't affect the device improperly when in the fully open position behind the tablet.
The look and feel of the case are very high quality and I love that it's made start to finish here in SF. I got a little tour of the factory, which is probably smaller than you imagine given the brand presence and there were some cases being assembled while I was in there. Everyone that I spoke with was super nice and you know this is a company that believes in their product and would stand behind it. It seems that they've come up with a great, innovative repurposing of bookbinding machinery.

You prompted me to attempt to remove it for the first time. The answer is no residue whatsoever. However, that adhesive is really really strong. I unclipped the back panel from the screen on accident while pulling it up. No harm done it just pressed back together.

Galaxy Tab 2 Cases Fit

Hey,
Just brought a Belkin case from PCWorld designed for the Galaxy Tab 2 10" and its a perfect fit. Holding the Nexus 10 up to the Tab 2 it's easy to see why. They are pretty much identical. Has the 3 fold design too. Now if I could just fit a small magnet under the material it would switch off when closed
Pictures to follow!
Whats the product name of the case you bought im heading to pc world later
Its called the Belkin Tri-Fold Folio with stand.
Luckily the shape of the corner grips means that although it covers part of the power button it doesn't actually touch it.
Thanks for the pics!

I just ordered a zoogue galaxy tab case. Says it fits both tab 10.1s.
I have a zoogue case for my Xoom and I love it.
It is a bit pricey ($55 shipped) and I would call it more of a couch / indoor case.
I will post pics when I get it. The race is on both N10 and case where ordered tonight!

I can only tell you that clip is great because I used it from one of the car mounts on ebay. But can't comment on how rigid/flexible that neck-stand going to be. Keep in mind, N2 is not that heavy, but once you add a case (like Defender) and/or something like ZL battery or another extended battery, it will add up.
I saw some of these on eBay. Can't see the link since it's blocked at work. But it's a flex tube. I might make something myself and test it out.
I dropped my Note II with Sweet Armor case on my face last night. Not cool.
I think i will order one as soon as possible but with a ZL battery i doubt it will work.

As I was laying in bed last night watching a movie on the little screen (so not to disturb the mrs) I was thinking I need one of these!
I have two of these on my bunk bed/desk, the arms are not as long as they have in the ebay picture (photoshopped obviously), and not very strong, if you have zero lemon on your note 2, you'll have to do a loop, otherwise it will bend a bit. I have usb cable zip tied to them.
You have to curl them at least half a circle, or they wont' stay up, and you'll have to put some rubber under the clip.
Watching movie and video is fine if you sleeping in your bed, but you want be able to surf the internet play game because your arm will get tired after 2 or 3 mins and also because it's so wobbly.
