Hello,
I'm new to all these smartphone's tech but since I'm a Linux lover, who knows howto compile kernel with custom confing etc, I'd like to help with porting 4.1 Android to Galaxy Mini 2, but first I'll have to sort some things out....
Anyway, as I have seen so far, squadzone been working for some time with s6500 and he produced custom kernel for 2.3 android, which OC'd CPU from 800mhz to 1,1 Ghz....and I'm thinking, do we really need sources from squadzone? Perhaps we should start from scratch, firstly looking for some NFO at http: // source.android.com/source/building-kernels.html
Second, I'm aware lots of these "modds" are not being released under any kind of opensource. What I mean is, can we trust these modds? Having a botnet with smartphones would be an good idea.... but NVM.
If u guys wanna make some mods/porting/etc please try to make it opensource at the beginning of project. No putting hidden/unknown code.
BTW, what about maclaw? He have been working on galaxy mini afaik, he might have some experience in this field?
Just a thought
Cheers

Its in beta. No, it cant be ported (well, rather wont as there is no point). And I might be confused, but this is not q/a section.
On the desire you could use the cyanogen vendor to build android from source.
That would be stock n1 goodness

No, its for you to read first sticky before posting here, where it is written not to post questions here, especially if they aren't very important. I, like most people here, don't wont to search for 3 good topic out of 10 q/a.
And I wasnt being rude in the slightest. Just stating the obvious.

This is not development. You need to watch your manners unless you want to be banned.
A bit of reading of the stickies and popular threads would have answered your questions and many more. This is XDA-Developers, not day care.
Thread reported, not development.

No harm done...keep min mind we can't just "magically port ROMS from other devices." CyanogenMod is a fully AOSP based ROM, if you liked the "stock Android" experience on the Nexus that is what you want.
yeah i know cyanogen since nexus ,, i really can't wait for it to be fully functional ,,
and emphasise " can't wait"
nagasumi, as dupel and chambo have pointed out, please read the "STOP!! Before posting read this NOW!!" thread at the top of this section...it has very clear guidelines about what types of threads do and do not belong in the development section. I'll go ahead and move this one over to the Q&A section.

Well, as far as SGS is concerned, CM6 that is being ported is not fully AOSP. I understand it uses Samsung files to some extent. I'm no expert but I could easily tell that (at least) the pre-alpha builds were using Samsung stuff when I noticed the amount of free RAM. But yeah, this is probably as AOSP as it can get with SGS unless the Nexus S is based on a similar hardware configuration.

I don't think you where over reacting, it was an honest mistake even if it was through your own fault not reading the stickies.
Sadly though through the years ive been on the site and at one stage developing as well ive seen some really bad mannered individuals treating new posters like sh!te.
it's no wonder XDA has lost many of it's more respected members.
On their behalf I apologise for your treatment.
the one bad thing about owning a samsung is the children that also own it. Pity and a sad day for XDA.
This was once a wonderful site full of like minding people developing together now i's a bullying playground sad and shameful.
i found this sgs2 post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1518467 and i would love to test that new OS so if anyone could port that it would be awesome !!!

I was hoping to get the stones rolling with this Post ,..

Seeming this is thin and "web-like" is there any chance that we could build a custom recovery console and allow a secondary bootloader into B2G? I know on SGSII there are apps around that allow for duel boot ROMs, seeming Mozi is going to be a light weight….is there any chance we could do this? Also I am thinking if kernel and drivers are the only requirements then could we not symlink from where a "new" kernel is placed as well as the symlinking from the device drivers essentially "plugging in" to the mozi OS?
What if we were to partition a decent amount of realestate in on the SD card to ext4? And then running it in a separate partition? Ext4 is fast, and even if it IS on SD we are dealing with a kightweight OS, would there be major performance issues with doing this? I am running Link2SD atm and all seems pretty well.
I probably have no idea what I am talking about, and really I don't but I am voicing my ideas to see if anyone is thinking along the same lines?
So i know the closest phone to ours in terms of hardware, is the Galaxy W right?
And guess what? They got the CM9 port this week.
So i guess this could help some developers to port it to our phone?
*_*
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576874
Here's the link btw
i thought it has been mention a lot of times although same specs but it is not possible to port as the mobo is all different
Yeah, I'm not thinking on getting their rom and trying to install it on my phone.
I meant get their base and develop something similar on our phone, using the same cpu/gpu drivers, wich i think are the main problem we have right now.
I'm no developer, but i don't think that this is impossible.
Their original developer is porting it as we speak, so maybe we should continue the talk here ?
If dev is porting... new thread will open
Hereby thread closed!
Go arco. He brought CM7 to my old phone (htc wildfire) so it is just a matter of time until we have CM9 for our S+.

Maybe i'm a noob. I'm not a develorper, but does it mean i shouldn't make part of this forum?
First of all, i've registered here not to create stuff, but to show my apreciation for the work of people who do create it.
I've donated to estimulate the development of other projects on other devices, but aparently people of the 9001 section don't actually care about this kind of user ( aka noobs).
And when i try to point that other developers managed to get CM9 on a phone that is very similar to ours you react that way? Seriously, you didn't became more of a man when you answered like a dickhead.
Anyway, i'm sorry for trying to help out the development of our device by bringing unharmful information.
C ya.
Your thread is in the wrong section. It should go into 9000 General section and the thread title should start with [9001]. That's the rules that were set up by XDA officials for us and our device. Not very handy but that's it.
This topic is not new and was discussed several times already in various other threads here. Ironically in the Cyanogenmod porting thread arco68, who ported CM9 for Galaxy W, has been around for two days and started to analyse out device. If you searched and read a bit, you would have found that. So this thread is a duplicate.
And thanks for the dickhead.

I can understand this reaction.
It's in my opinion the result of lacking our own general forum.
it's a shame that if i want to read topics in the general forum i have to use the search button to see i9001 topics.
When the Samsung Galaxy S Advance arrives does it get a subforum in the i9000 forum? if this is so this wil make things again more confusing.
And if there is a administrator then close this thread
But on topic there wil be a thread from arco68 ? about porting cm9.
Hi, i'm a new member of the forums but i have been cheking the youtube channel and also used the forum to root my device and also to install some custom roms in it.
I'm currently using CM 10.1.6 modded and it works perfectly and very smooth
so first of all thx to those guys http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2212438
second, i would like to know if we, the cooper users are we going to have 4.4 on our devices anytime soon? i dont know if that is even possible; maybe the fact that we are already able to run 4.2.2 is big step. However; kitkat will be us a performance increase? is it gonna use less ram for exaple (the s5830 really lacks on that point)
thx
(I'm pretty suprised about all the anti spam security measures that this forum has, i have never seen something similar)

Hello folks, I'm new dev and still learn about android and sources codes. I saw information TeamCanjica have stopped the unnoficial updates for our device Unfortunately (but thanks TeamCanjica you're top team here ). Lately I found some devices have same Hardware than galaxy S advance, I look for xperia U, and surprise, It's almost the same thing, (galaxy S advance have little more powerfull hardware), I'm surprise with this device because it have less RAM than S advance and can run AOSP 5.0.2 without problems, of course Cm12 for this device is beta stage, and I know is very hard to repartiton the internal memory S advance for new AOSP, but think, if xperia U have less hardware and same specs with S advance, why our S advance can't run new OS 5.0.2 without problems ? If you think "garr but battery is fly easy on 5.0 xperia U, have issue performance and some lags on UI",go on sectionxperia U and ask some user if he or she got some problem... . Thanks attention and read , I hope this thread have healthy discussion XD
