any alternative wall chargers? i don't want to spend $25.... - Nexus 7 Accessories

Any? I left the damn wall charger in the wall at a hotel.... haha.

Would this work? https://www.caseen.com/Google-Nexus-7-Tablet-AC-Adapter-6-Foot-Wall-Charger-5VDC-2A-_p_303.html
or this http://www.amazon.com/Travel-Charge...8&qid=1345336470&sr=1-8&keywords=nexus+7+wall

Bought a PlayStation Vita charger today (1.5A, on sale at Best Buy for $4.99) and it charges just as fast as the original charger! Just had to take an exacto knife to remove two very tiny strips of plastic from the plug end (Sony "keyed" the USB plug in so you can't normally plug in anything other than the official PS Vita and PSPgo cables).

Charger Doesn't stick into phone

When I insert my USB cable into my Nexus one, it is no longer holding in the phone snuggly. It slips out very easily... Is this a problem with the cord, or with the charging port?
It also isn't charging unless I have the cable in a certain way. I noticed two little latchies on the charger, could those have been bent down on accident?
That's how my wall charger is. My usb cable fits snuggly in though. I read about people calling HTC about warrantying it and getting a new cable/charger.
Ok, good to know it's the charger then.
On the cable there are 2 small locking arms that should hold it tightly in place. If their springs are dead, it won't hold and could slip out easily.

DIRECT connection for wireless charging

Hello guys,
Few weeks ago i read about connecting standard wireless qi usb adapter to phone itself. I mean, connect 2 stripes of cables to 5v and ground on motherboard, so usb would be still avaiable. Do you know where on motherboard those pins are ?

Interesting, I'm trying to find out too. I did a mod that way with my NOTE1. Mostly likely near the USB port, but I afraid it'll affect the NFC , because NFC is on the Cover. And the coil 's pcb must be extremely thin.
I would gladly get rid off nfc anyway, as I don't use it. Voltometer is on its way to me, so any time soon I'll try to update the thread
news pliz??
thanks..
Can wireless charging be used when case is still on the phone?

current Qi is good for 7mm i believe...which is plenty of space for most cases. it wont pass through metal though, and I'm sure some materials hinder that more than others. I used a couple different cases on my nexus 5 and was able to charge with all of them.
The Qi chargers are 12V I believe. I modified a car charger to fit the adapter for the Qi wire. I had to solder it to the 12V wires in the car plug. The 5V would not charge it.
You should be able to find 12V power coming out of the power supply.

Qi Charging adapter?

Do you guys think they'll make a Qi charging adapter? The contacts would connect to the pins on the underside of the witch and the charging coils could just be covered by a black sticker. It could be like the S4 inserts for Qi charging. Wouldn't add bulk either. What do you guys think?

I'm surprised a Chinese company hasn't done this yet. Qi receivers are easily thin enough and making a charging dock like a normal watch base with a Qi coil on top would be simple enough I think. There must be a reason this hasn't happened. I'd buy it for sure. I can't stand the stock charging cradle and I'm not spending $35 for a spare one either. That's highway robbery. I'd like to see this happen.
The hardware needs to support it, but I am willing to modify hardware given to tools and instructions.
I'd buy one for sure. I'm an avid QI user with a charger bedside, couchside, in home office, work office, and the QI car charger for my Note 3.
Please make this!

So I bought one of these with the $10 off coupon that was posted on Slikdeals, missed the one a few weeks earlier that was $20 off.
But either way I am happy. It is a big blocky device. Looks more like a USB HUB.
I tested all ports, but the best part is that it also has Qi wireless charging on top. I really like the fact that it has a rubber ring that grips what ever I put on it. Usually I find my Sony Xperia Z3 on the floor (glass on both sides..).

QI Induction. Any recommendations?

Hi community!
I´m thinking about buying that QI induction addon that´s plugged into the usb c port.
My new car offers the feature.......
Has anyone made some eperience with it?
Is it worth?
Are there better or worse ones?
Make sure you buy one with a short enough cord that the coil does not obstruct the camera sensor. Obviously, you wouldn't be able to DASH charge with a Qi pad. Through personal experience, I have found that third-party Qi add-ons tend to be slower than charging with a USB cable on a 10W charger. These pads are thin, but not this enough to be negligible. If you have a tight-fitting case, it may cause a bulge in the back.
Don't do it. That's my recommendation. Especially if you can't plug the phone in anymore. You will leave it charging wirelessly for an hour to see like a 5% charge happen. It's the slowest for of charging like plugging it into your computer.
Slow, heats up the phone, the cable for the piggyback qi module breaks after twenty removals.
QI
I have this on my OP2, and i think it works very good. It is a bit hassle if you plug your phone into a computer alot, but i usually dont. I also have a Qi charger at work, so i can charge it during the day, witch leaves me with around 80 % when i go to sleep.
