The last time that happened to me was with my Galaxy s2 : /
It was a corrupted efs folder... - Maybe you could research that?
Im sorry to say that the phone was bricked, and it was not possible to fix it.. : /
- Good Luck
Do you have original box/bill that contains you imei? Or if you have noted your number, try this
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264021
Before doing anything, once pull out battery for few minutes, and reinsert and check whether it appears back.

He doesnt need to have the original box does he? - The imei-number should also be found inside the phone when he pulls out the battery?

if these suggestions dont do the trick you are going to have Samsung repair it . That or use a service from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22983688&postcount=26 I read that some users had their emei fixed by him.
Only if above mentioned methods dont work, and if you dont want it fixed, you can find a rom with efs.img and flash it throught pc odin, with check clear efs then you get imei 4900, its generic test emei. In some countries it is blocked for service, so if you have to travel, or if country decides to block it, you need to get it fixed anyway.

Did a google search of my IMEI code and it seems it has gotten corrupted. Oh well time to find a new phone.
Hi all,
My note run ICS has been rooted and the last rom on it is king droid 2.1
Just yesterday I've tried to wipe it all from the recovery. After that it was stuck on the main screen when you switch on the phone I was still able to go in recovery so I try to re-flash the same rom and after the previous one without success then I've tried to flash back the original rom lpy with Odin started to recognise the device but when it started to flash it it takes ages and the progressive bar it stay just like on 1% .
Now the phone doesn't go in recovery mode but just in download mode and on the screen comes "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again"
Off course Kies does not recognise the phone.
Please help me I'm desperate
Thanks to all
you had wiped in recovery, your phone is bricked ......sorry, i hope you have yet warrenty
The phone is on warranty but I haven't got the receipt unfortunately
Kingdroid 2.1 uses a cf-root that is affected by superbrick bug (and this is why this version was removed from the OP by his author), so probably your note is damaged.
in general section there are many threads (like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661590) with guides that you can try to use to "repair" your bricked note... otherwise you can send it to samsung assistance and hope in a free motherboard replacement.

But if I send the note to Samsung they can see the phone it has been rooted
Do u think they will still do something for it?

Sure they can, but if they find your note is rooted (or generically modded) you have to pay the cost of the mainboard replacement.
However, first of all, I suggest you to read the thread I've posted (and even others) and verify if you can revive your note by yourself.
Good luck mate, I'm really sorry for your note :-(

With all the warnings I am curious why did you try wiping from an ICS kernel?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
First thing you should do is check other threads about that around here.
If you can get it into download mode, you could give flashing with Odin a try. If it doesn't get stuck at factory.fs, then you're not superbricked.
If it does get stuck, then you have 2 more hopes:
- HOPE 1
- HOPE 2
If those don't work either...I'm afraid it's off to the Samsung Service center for a shiny new motherboard.
Best of luck to you and hope you get your Note up and running as soon as possible...
I know but mistake happens......and unfortunately I did a big mistake......I'm getting mad to try to solve this problem
Thanks I'll look the threads soon I finish to work Odin by he way it get stuck on factory.fs. So no chance but I was reading about The pit file do you know something about?
By the way thanks for the help guys
I hope you can fix it.

please help me also
try this mine got working but u will loose ur sd card space like mine to 9 gb
I AM FROM INDIA ,I AM A REGULAR VISITOR OF THIS FORUM. I TRIED SEVERAL ROMS NEARLY I MIGHT HAVE DONE 25 ROM INSTALLATION IN MY PHONE USING ODIN. FOR THE LAST 20 DAYS I AM ON THE SAME ROM DDLP8 ICS 4.03 (ROOTED)
DURING A FILE TRANSFER FROM MY PC PHONE SWITCHED OF AND DIDNT GO ON.
i searched xda and finally custom pit method worked for me with a pit file .. but i now have only 9 GB space in my internal SD . i tried all other pits only two pit file allows me to install a rom.
any way to regain my memory back.
if repair is the only option how much indian rupee it will cost.
please brothers help me . i am a student and because of addiction to custom roms i have installed roms several times.
Well, if patched pit was the only solution that worked for you, I think that's no way you can get your 7gb-left back, cause part of your emmc storage is probably -certainly- corrupted, and for now is impossible to repair without a motherboard replacement...unfortunately you need Samsung assistance for that.
I'm sorry mate but I don't live in India, so I have no idea of how much it will cost.

Just buy a sd card that fits if you need axtra space lol

Hello and thanks in advance. I've recently updated my galaxy note to Ice Cream sandwich. After updating my phone using klies, I noticed that I cannot lock my phone. I've tried using patterns, pins and passwords. Neither works. Also I noticed that on my home screen, the firmware information is stuck on the screen and is quite annoying. So far to try and fix both these issues, I have tried restarting my phone and factory resetting it, but that hasn't worked. Any help in fixing these issues would be greatly appreciated.
Seems something went wrong while upgrading. Check if you could go to download mode. ie Volume down + Home+Power bouttons togather for 10 secs. If so down grade to GB. check battery is fully charged, USB debugging on and unknown software on and read posts in this forum on the issue and solution. there are plenty available.
I've read this can be due to a damaged efs partition and is quite prevalent on a couple of new builds. What version are you on?

Can you be more precise? When you say version what do you mean ? What base band What kernel ? etc

What kernel?
As far as I remember the info displayed on the home screen with the devices Id etc is due to damaged efs partition. This holds all the devices unique id info including imei. This is in turn what makes lock screen redundant. I believe restoring an older gb is needed to correct efs, then avoid certain kernel versions of ics, but this is all from memory as I can't find the thread in question.
I know it was chasmodo and Dr ketan who identified the issue. My advice would be to pm them for steps to correct.
Worst case scenario will be to send in for repairs.

Dear All
Samsung Note GT-N7000
Android 4.1.2
My brother purchase by mistake a new Samsung Note GT-N7000 that is meant for use in Korea.
But here in Singapore, the set seem not compatible.
While I can make and receive calls and receive SMS, , sending SMS is limited to 80 characters
vs the standard 160 characters. Besides, there are a lot of Korean characters / messages
on the KB and other pop up menus, which I cannot comprehend..
I contacted Samsung service center and they tell me they cannot do much about
this , as this is a set meant for use in Korea.
Now I think, maybe I should take the risk and reinstall the firmware and SW.
( Perhaps Cyanogen or something similar ? ).
I am not skilled in this.
May I request anyone here to point to me some tutorial to guide me through step by step
in installing a new firmware / software and make it fully English compatible and for use in Singapore ?
I don't mind losing the warranty, ( if there is any ).
I just hope I don't brick the fone. It is only 3 days old.
Thank you so much.

Yes, It is GT-N7000
Only one question: Will it completely solve my problem as mentioned in my post..
or are there any uncertainties.
Thank you very much for your help.
You should take extra caution to varify it is n7000 or it is shv160 for korea. Use wrong rom will brick phone. Do some more search to varify first.

I went to "About phone " and checked.
Model number shown is: SHV-E160L
Baseband version E160LKLJMK1
KERNEL: 3.0.31-1034927
BUILD NO: JZO54K.E160LKLJMK4
My mistake - Earlier I looked only at the packing box: Which shows GT - N7000
Thanks for highlighting this to me.
So, should I look for SHV-E160L Rom ?

I took a look at that page.
It is filled with dire warnings and tech terms which is Greek to me.
My original problem was that I could not make calls or send out texts.
When I want to make a call - either manually enter the number or selecting from contacts
a +82 prefix was added and the number is shown as invalid. Or Invalid recipient.
For texts, I could not enter any number or even select from contacts.
Now, thanks to a friend, I installed a dialer from Google play and the
phone seems to work normal. Still a few minor glitches are there which I think
can be fine tuned later on. A lot of time wasted tinkering with these devices. !
What surprises me is this. Here is a nice well designed fone with great
functionality. But in some areas, the designers seem to have slept on small details.
Just look at the flimsy back cover for example.
In this respect, the Apple I phone is tops.
The attention to detail is perfect.
My question: When there are now nearly a billion owners of smart fones.
How did this mature industry end up in a situation where endless bugs and glitches
seem to be in every fone model they put out into the market and cause headaches
to the customers ? - This is an avoidable tiresome experience to the users.
Another thing.
I found out there is a hidden code for this fone. 319 712 358.
The PW is: 0821
And there you set the mode to GSM only.
I also tried Cyanogenmod installer.
But it says that this model is not supported.
Thanks again.
