Hi everyone,
I was listening to music on my phone and the UP volume button was working normally until it stops responding. I rebooted the phone and still no respond. I can't flash my phone now cuz I can't access to recovery mode and I don't have my pc to use odin (I can access to download mode).
If it is a software problem, please give me a solution, if it is a hardware problem, pleasa give me a guide w/ photos if it is possible.
MY CONFIGURATIONS:
Samsung galaxy s gt-i9000
Stock jvu value pack w/ cf-root kernel.
Thanks a lot for any help =D
The same happened to me on galaxy y
As a temporary fix u can use fine volume control to channge volume up and down using the dial. For using recovery open a adb shell and type adb reboot recovery or from terminal type su and then reboot recovery.

Hi,
I bought galaxy ace a week ago... updated via the latest gingerbread 2.3.6. (official way). After few days of testing the phone I found out that it is quite slow therefore I decided to root it... there is the problem, I cannot enter to recovery menu (home + power), even to download menu (home + vol down + power), everytime I hold the above mentioned combination I got soft reset of the phone... no menu, no nothing. I could not find anything on the web.. Could you help me how to enter to recovery menu OR how to root to CM7.2. a CWM without entering to recovery menu.
I believe the recovery menu has been blocked with new gingerbread 2.3.6.
Thank you.
I don't think so (about the blocked recovery) ..u go on trying dude ..recovery mode is a bit tougher to get in stock rom ..u should get it on the 10th attempt ( at least) I believe ..btw there are rooting guides in this forum ...check them out

Prouder to be a part of XDA
does it mean that i should hold power + home for 10 soft restarts?
I think so here's a tip press the home button first ..keep it pressed and then press the power button UNTILL THE SCREEN COMES ON...recovery mode is tougher to get in stock rom(well at least for me )..in cm7 its nothing ..

I tried to soft restart 10 times no luck... even with your tip...can anyone else help me please?
only odin can help you as if you are not able to get into any kind of recovery and want cwm then odin is the only path for you .. do backup contacts, sms if you want
all other things will be lost..
and if you don't want to loose things then choose to skip rooting and love what you have now
and 2.3.6 haven't blocked recovery btw as i am using it
I cant use ODIN as I cannot access to download menu (vol down + home + power). Anyone else who can me advice?
turn your phone off!
Now without pressing the power button!
Hold the center button and plug your charger!
Still does not work, any other solution?
Try this if you have root access then install ROM toolbox from the market and try going into recovery via the app

Dude read the post properly I guess he's on stock rom and the only way of rooting gingerbread is the update.zip method ( correct me if I'm wrong ) ..so there's no way he could have root access ...

HE CANNOT ENTER RECOVERY MODE!
If you bought that way you should take it back show problem and let service take care of that!
Say that you were trying to do a factory reset when you found out that you coudn´t enter recovery mode!
I'm on stock ROM, just flashed this morning using ODIN. Even root will go then. To go into recovery press the home+power button till the phone turns on, leave the power button not the home button. You should land up in recovery. If that doesn't work then try using ADB. Go to adb with your phone normally on:
adb reboot recovery
but try flash recovery again
to enter fastboot:
adb reboot bootloader
And if You've worked with ODIN then download a new bootloader and flash it using ODIN.I think (not sure) the problem is with secondary bootloader (SBL).Put the phone into download mode using ADB:
adb reboot download
This will put your phone in download mode. Check Odin now, and if ID:COM has turned yellow, you’re good to gnce you’re satisfied, press the Start button on Odin. The flash will take couple of seconds, after which your phone will reboot automatically.
That’s it. This should fix your download and recovery mode 3-button combo issue. You can now apply any mods with the normal procedure.

You had mentioned updating to 2.3.6 in the official way? Kies or Service center? If Kies then did you get the download mode when it was updating? And No, Recovery is not blocked on 2.3.6

If even adb isn't working
I would take it in to the service center and tell them you can't access (stock)recovery

---------- Post added at 02:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:21 PM ----------
there is also an app in market ... quick boot or speed boot something like that...
and it DOESNT need root permission (long time no use so dont remember exactly but it should be)
u can try that
I had the same problem, but luckily I found this thread.
I can enter to recovery ONLY with adb reboot recovery command, pressing home button does nothing.
Hi guys, as the title said, I cannot get into download mode no matter what I try.
My 3 button combo were working right time ago when I was on a ICS Rom, but then I wanted to change the ROM so I went back to stock eclair to start again, and since that my nightmare began.
Eventhough, I was able to flash a new ICS ROM by getting into recovery by terminal emulator (Cause the 3 button combo stop working) I I continue without being able to get into Download mode.
I have tried:
All button combos + Plugin the USB cable (I mean, volumen rocker up and down, etc)
Terminal emulator "reboot download mode (Phone reboot but not on download, it just does a regular reboot)
Adb reboot download mode (Same as terminal emulator, does a regular reboot)
Eventhough, im able to get into recovery both by terminal emulator or ADB (But not by button pressing)
Whats is wrong with my captivate?
Im missing something?
Thank u all for ur help!
PD: By the way, im rooted, on ICS OAKP V6, But I have tried on CM7, CM9, CM10 and same story.

When you went back to Eclair... did you use a one-click? If so did it include eclair bootloaders?
Update: Also have you considered making or buying a jig? Whether adb or the button combos work or not a jig will definitely force your phone into download mode. That is unless there's something very very wrong with it.
Try to use quiick reboot application free available on market i have faced same issue in past and that app helped me to get into download mode

Remove the battery. Connect your phone to your PC with the usb cable. Now press Vol Up and Down button together and insert the battery again. You should be into the download mode. If you don't see regular download mode screen but see the screen with the phone and computer icon screen instead, it's just another form of the download mode. You should be able to use the odin now.
Hi, I have a problem with my samsung galaxy mini (s-5570). I breaked the three botom buttons six months ago, so I use Button Savior who is very useful. Yesterday I tried to install CyanogenMod so to boot on recovery mode, I used the app Terminal Emulator (type "reboot recovery"). But I didn't thought that I needed the Home button to naviguate into the recovery screen ( ) and when I remove the battery and reboot, the recovery mode comes back, so I'm stuck into recovery mode, and I can't do anything :crying:
I searched while 4 hours for a solution, and I found ODIN, but it doesn't recognise my phone, even I install Kies (twice). I can't even format this phone, and I really need it, so if somebody have a solution it would help me a lot.:victory:
i also am stuck

Try turning the phone off, then pressing and holding both the home+power key until recovery starts (not just until the Samsung logo).
What version of CWM did he try to install?

Hi,
I need some help with my smartphone, is stuck at boot.
With a usb jig i can enter in download mode and flash with odin. I flashed many roms and this always happend.
I cant enter in recovery because the volume rocker not work and adb do not recognize MTP usb drivers.
How can i found a solution for this?
thank you
If it stucks in bootloop after flashing a stock ROM via Odin , you will need to wipe data partition.
But I would suggest replacing your volume rocker to be able to enter recovery mode because it seems like the easiest way (Not 100% sure it's the easiest way tho)
Hey, thank you for your replay.
I already changed my volume rocker and it seems to not work. I think is board problem.
Can i use a keyboard with otg to enter in recovery mode?
Use an app that let's you boot straight to recovery (there's alot)
But first I suggest flashing TWRP as you can't use CWM if you have a broken volume button

Stuck on boot on all roms you flashed? Had this problem once, you must clean the dalvik cache prior to booting for the 1st time, but since adb and volume rocker doesn't work for you I'm afraid you gotta take another visit to the store
Id like to know wich is the volume ways and resitors on board, may be i can fix this.
Edit:
When i perform a ctrl+alt+del with keyboard by otg the phones reboot like normal. There are any way to use the keyboard to access recovery?
And maybe another solution is, install a rom via odin with adb activated but i didnt found any one.
thank you
