I recenly tried restoring a froyo backup through CWM recovery and it resulted in this. It stays stuck in the I9000 logo screen and won't go any further. I've read that the bootloader might be corrupted and the only way is to flash a stock firmware and then reflashing whatever firmware I wanted to install....
Is this correct?
I AM able to go in either download mode AND recovery mode (v2.5.1.0) but no matter which firmware I want to flash ends up in "getprop" errors (Status 7)

Oh man....tried whole morning. Got some progress, it now boots (and bootloop) into the Galaxy boot animation whereas before it just got stock at the first I9000 screen. I already tried flashing a stock rom (XXJW4) but after reboot it gives me these errors:

Hi,
I received the official update for my l10 from b126 to b133.
But after download I receive a checksum error.
Any ideas? Also the downloaded update.zip cannot be opened with zip viewers.
PS: rooted but stock recovery

Edit: solved by deleting the HWOUC folder on external SD and initiated update again
Almost the same problem for me, once it reaches the recovery to install the update, it gives error.
Worked for me then, don't forget to be on stock recovery
Yeah I was on TWRP but then I restored the stock recovery taken from this post to install this OTA update:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53980121&postcount=4
But no matter what after everything is downloaded and I give the 'ok' to install it, it stops at the recovery giving a 'FAIL' message big a quarter of the screen.
I'm using the same. Maybe its worth to download again by deleting the folder and initiating the download again.
Any hint on why it fails?
May I know how did you install the stock recovery?
I did the following:
-Connect phone to PC by debug mode
-adb reboot bootloader
Then phone goes into bootloader, flash mode:
-fastboot flash boot boot.img
-fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
-fastboot flash recovery2 recovery2.img
I noticed that in the archive of the stock recovery, there's also a build.prop file. Am I missing something perhaps?
Anyway the "FAIL" error appears when the recovery is attempting to install the update at the 2/10 of the status bar, therefore after the checksum which means the update file is not corrupted.
I also tried several times to delete and re-download the update as you said but still no success..
No, I only flashed recovery.img via flashify.
So maybe it is due to recovety2.img? Just a guess
I just tried to flash just the recovery.img but still the same error.
I honestly can't think of any other solution now than a a lot of time wasting full wipe..
I had the same problem. Tried deleting folder etc.
What worked for me was updating using HiSuite. Connect phone with cable with pc/laptop and use HiSuite for update. Made backup just to be sure but wasn't needed.
I was trying to do a nandroid backup and update via HiSuite like you suggested but then I encountered this.
Surely something is wrong my system partition lol, any ideas of why is it so huge? The previous backups were just 1.5 GB.
Perhaps I'll just do a backup of the apps with Helium and move on.
That's strange. For your information. I had already the original recovery in place. So I did the backup from HiSuite (It came with this option). I didn't made a backup with TWRP or Nandroid backup.
I'll try again this weekend and let you know the results, thanks anyway!
I want to temporarily root my device so I can restore/remove some stuff with TitaniumBackup, then unroot it again (to be able to use Android Pay). However every method I've seen involves first changing the recovery from stock to TWRP. Is there any way to root without having to wipe the stock recovery?
{update} So I got Android Pay working! But I really need to temporarily root the phone so I can restore stuff with TitaniumBackup and also install AdAway.
All the unroot guides I see involve basically wiping everything and installing stock firmware. I wonder if I were to temporarily install TWRP to get root, if I later were to install just stock recovery, if it would be possible to also unroot without wiping the ROM?
Too bad there was no "Developer's Edition" for our Note series.

There is an unroot option in SuperSu. You do not need to wipe etc to do this.
Why do you want to uninstall TWRP?

I Have a PRA-LX1C33 (P8 Lite 2017), with bootloader unlocked provide by Huawei.
I need to install a rom PRA-LX1C432, but I need to install first a recovery, and that's when trouble begins.
I try anyways to install TWRP Recovery, but without success. I try "fastboot flash recovery [recovery name]", and "fastboot boot [recovery name]"....
Nothing. Give this error, see the image.

Hi,
This error happens when frpLock is enabled. Huawei fastboot requires OEM unlock+frpUnlock. Search around how to disable it.

You will need to flash stock Oreo again, boot it, and remove the OEM lock from developers menu. After this you can flash normally in fastboot.

In advance Thanks, but I not have oreo rom stock, i have nougat. To have oreo i need first change oeminfo, because my rom is PRA-LX1C33 and i need PRA-LX1C432 european.
I see th rom here http://www.stechguide.com/huawei-p8-lite-2017-b322-oreo-firmware/, but I'm afraid to install because mine is C33, not C432.
I stuck, and i don't no what to do.
Okey, so you just need to do the same thing on your Nougat firmware (in Dev. Menu) to release the frpLock. If the option is not available then flash the firmware again, unlock OEM from Dev. Menu then unlock bootloader again.
What's your current situation ? ( Rom booting, recovery installed, firmware version...etc)

I have PRA-LX1C33B137, bootloader unlock.
Hello,
Lately I've altered my system a bit and had to restore it to it's previous setup using pre-rooted boot.img and flashing back again "June08_NB1_v4.88B" OTA update. I've been on June update and this zip clearly for some unknown reason rolled me back into May secruity update.
Now whenever I try to update my device with auto updates back on into June or July it gives me this error message :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now I can't automatically get updates, but my attempts to use 4.88C which is July revision of security updates the recovery gives me a message that it's designed for 4.88B.
Now the question is - has somebody encountered a similar issue ? If so what can be done in this situation to get back automatic updates ?
Got it to work by wiping clean system, boot_a and boot_b.
Reflashed the stock paritions in their places from 4.88B with May security update.
My suspect in crime was busybox update that was installed system-wide directly into system & boot partitions which caused OTA mismatch and refusal of installation.
nice work done there.. hope it will help other people who are stuck too..
Sent from my Nokia 8 using XDA Labs
Hi,
Can you explain your method. I'm actually on 4.88B and I can't get no more security patch (still 1st may 2018).
Do you flash via fastboot (can you tell us the command lines)
Excuse my english
I've downlaoded both OTA and paritions zip. Flashed boot_a and boot_b using boot.img <fastboot flash boot_a boot.img; fastboot flash boot_b boot.img>
Then I did relock my OEM which resulted in a loopboot due to modified partitions, that's how I figured out to reflash OTA with update from SDCard using android stock recovery.
no unlocked bootloader, no flash.....
I hope an OTA in Android O with version higher than 4.88B....
I have rooted S21 ultra Exnos it has TWRP and decrypted what i want to ask is
If there is new firmware released which i want to update it then what is the procedure so that i can have my settings , root. and internal storage date? even TWRP
as device is decrypted if i flash the stock samsung firmware via ODIN then it will encrypt storage again right? which will format my internal storage as that is main thing... which i dont want and will overwrite the stock recovery also
please let me know options in comments
First, search for the ROM that you'd like and find out what suites you best yourself, that way you're more aware of the risks and what you actually need.
Second, flashing any ROM on decrypted device doesn't encrypt it again as long as you flash the decryption zip again like dm-verity, and flashing ROM with ODIN doesn't replace the recovery. You need to flash recovery through "AP" to do that.
Goodluck.

and i was not aware of that dm-verity zip will work in Samsung devices too as i decrypted it by the method which was mentioned in TWRP by command multi disabler

If you mean stock ROM you can get yours from sammobile it has whole archive of ROMs.
DM-Varity was just an example, you can use whatever works for you.
Also you can always just flash TWRP again. No biggie.
