Does anyone know of a USB gamepad or controller that works with the nook color? Preferably something with a D-Pad and Thumbsticks.
I have this, but I can't seem to get the nook to recognize it:
Frisby Dual Vibration PC Computer USB Game Pad Joy Controller
I connect the controller with this:
Micro USB OTG to USB 2.0 Adapter*
*BTW, I do not recommend this adapter because the microUSB part does not fit nicely in any device I plug it into. I bought 4 and they are all the same. I have been able to get thumb drives to work with this adapter so I don't think it's the adapter.
I am running CM7:
cm-7-20120722-NIGHTLY-encore
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
From a quick search on Google, I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459892
I never owned a USB Controller similar to that, so I can't really help you.
Or maybe instead of using a USB Controller, you can use Bluetooth? If you have a Wii Remote, or PS3 Controller, that would work perfectly.
For the Wiimote: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...BjcmVhdGlvbnMuYW5kcm9pZC5XaWlVc2VBbmRyb2lkIl0.
For the PS3 Controller: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...mdwaXhlbHN0dWRpb3Muc2l4YXhpc2NvbnRyb2xsZXIiXQ..
Thanks for the reply RoboticBuddy.
I had seen that thread before, but for whatever reason, I did not see that second post with the list of USB controllers. I have been able to get a PS3 controller working via Bluetooth, but I'd really like a USB controller so that I can use it on an airplane.
I'll try to get one of those controllers listed and report back.

Are there any usb controllers I can use to game on my HD2, this is one I have found (attached picture)...
I saw a vid on youtube where someone used it on their phone with a mini usb to usb adapter and then connected the usb to mini usb adapter (the one pictured) to the controller.
I have the BGP100 remote but it is not as apealing as the usb one pictured...
are there any alternatives ? I would really like to use something with a joystick (i.e. ps3 remote)..but I have heard the ps3 remote is not useable on the hd2 (at least yet)....
I would like to use it mainly for emulators (snes, nes, psx, etc....)
any ideas? Thanks for your help in advance...
Ugh I wish USB worked on the HD2... The closest thing to progress I've seen is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=638201
THe power this device has is being wasted on text messaging and lame touchscreen games.. I need emus working with controllers.. I'll velcro a USB SNES controller to the thing if it was working...
What about a usb or bluetooth keyboard as a remote? would that work? Or what about just any usb remote ? I see this discussion which includes drivers: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=375407...
would that work ? can anyone shed any light on this topic? or does anyone have any experience with any of this ?....
By now I would think most of you have seen the ingenious homemade snes mod video(if not check it out on youtube(snes dell streak) ).I was wondering if I used a female/female usb adapter,if I could use my standard usb joystick in its stead???
Thanks
Paul

The Home dock supports USB input, you can plug a keyboard, mouse, not sure about joystick, but for SNES gaming I use the Wii mote with an attached classic controller, works wonders.
don't know if your theory about female/female adapter works, I'm guessing you're plugging it to your regular USB cable. I believe the cable is just for charging/syncing, you will need a usb Host which is in the home dock :s
Wii mote seems like an ideal option. But that is up to you.
Stupid question but has anyone tried a a PS2 controller with an OTG cable?
Also, if I do have to buy a PS3 controller, do I need to buy a seperate cable to plug it into the OTG adaptor?
Tack!

Hey there,
I'm not sure if the ps2 controller will work as all I have in house is deh ps3. I don't see any reason why not tho. Can anyone confirm?
In regards to the cable' as long as you have the micro USB otg adapter, then you can attach a regular USB cable with the mini USB(more rectangular shape looking, or like the one that charges the PS2 remote)) to the otg adapter....
(Nexus7)
Edit: I found this in another thread....... looks like the PS2 controller will
Work.
In order for a controller to work in games on Anrdoid, the controller should be naively supported from the OS?
Also, the Sixaxis app, is this only required for PS3 controllers over bluetooth? What if I get a wired controller that is said to be supported for the PS3; would this require support via Sixaxis, or Android?
I have some store credit for Walmart, and I noticed these controllers:
Snakebyte Sb00344 PlayStation 3 Wired Controller - Black (PS3)
Snakebyte Sb00344 PlayStation 3 Wired Controller - Black (PS3)
POWER A PS3 Pro Elite Wireless Controller
The first one is a wired PS3 controller. The other two rely on a wireless signal over a USB adapter. Would any of these happen to work naively on Android? I'm not entirely sure how the first controller interacts with the PS3 exactly over USB, but perhaps when plugged into a computer, it would be detected as a normal controller, and work fine? The other two may have less of a chance at working, but idk...
Edit: A PS2 controller through a cheap PSX-to-USB hub from Radioshack back in 2002 seems to work fine mostly, except the right analog stick is mapped wrongly in Dead Trigger (left and right go up and down, up and down goes left and right).
Don't buy the knockoffs

Hey guys, just wanted to ask, my ps3 controller connects via otg, the lights power on, however I cannot play any games with it. I'm not rootedyetbso I can't use wireless connection.
Please check out the sixaxis app for PlayStation controller, endless customizing and I can walk anyone through it if needed

I know I can use six axis for wireless but I don't want that just yet. I'm asking for a wired connection via otg.

Hello, I didn't see anyone post anything on this yet from either device (HD, HD+) but I haven't been able to connect a controller when on the 7/8 build of CM 10.1 or Carbon 7/7. I'm not sure if is an isolated problem or if there is known issues with bluetooth. I was able to get it working on Stock + root but much prefer Carbon or CM (Great Roms!!). If anyone has found a workaround I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions! :fingers-crossed:

Several of us have tried sixaxis to no avail. We can only hop this will get fixed at some point. I personally would love to see BT and the PS3 controller work rather than using USB. Time will tell.

Thanks for the reply. How did you get USB to work with the proprietary cable connection of the B&N devices?

Been a few days and wondering if anyone found a workaround or fix for this.
you get a small usb hub, and a female to female gender changer.
hookup nook usb cable to gender changer, plug that into usb hub pc connector end, plug ps3 controller
into it via usb cable. then change it to force usb host or vice versa. It's explained in the other Nook forum here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358535
I hate it, but it does work.
hoping for a blue-tooth working fix as well...

Still a lil confused but I'll check out that link. thank you very much
Recognizing my controllers
I'm using a ps2 controller with a generic USB adaptor. I set up CM 10.1 (awesome awesome awesome) and have a gender changer but no USB hub. When I do forced USB host, the controller lights up when I press the Analog button on the controller so I don't think I need a USB hub. How do I get the Nook to recognize it as an input method? I have done lots of research and tried the USB/BT joy center app and still my controller is not recognized. I also got a generic SNES controller and same issue. Is this because they are generic and there are no drivers for Android to recognize these devices, or do I just need a USB hub? How can I get an emulator to recognize these? Thanks for taking a look.

Wow yeah I have no clue. It would be much easier to just have sixaxis working. Otherwise I got to buy a bunch of stuff to get it working and carrying a bunch of wires around kinda ruins the portability factor of having a tablet in the first place lol
Was wondering is there any update on this issue as i would like to try out one of these roms but this is putting me of doing so
any updates? im yet to get mine going =/
you need to lean on the developers of sixaxis app.
It appears to be the only one not working.
I got tired of waiting and just got a cheap 20 dollar blue-tooth controller from gamestop (red samurai controller)
works great.

Specifically, has anyone had luck with the Xbox One controller? I heard it worked, so of course I went out and bought a controller mount and a couple OTG cables. But of course, it doesn't even begin to work. I'm wondering if there's something I'm doing wrong -- I'm connecting the OTG cable to my phone, plugging a micro USB cable into the USB 2.0 female end of the OTG cable and plugging that into my controller.
I know it works with PS3 controllers -- I don't want a PS3 controller, though. Nor do I want to buy a new controller, especially a wired Xbox 360 controller. Any ideas?

In order for a device to "work via otg", that device needs to be supported by other software running on the device, including a kernel driver (probably not present), and sometimes a userspace driver (definitely not present).
In a brief google search, it seems that the driver you are looking for may be called something like "xpad" or "xboxdrv". The latter has a kernel AND userspace component, both of which are NOT installed on your phone.
If you want to make it work, you will need to recompile the kernel with the necessary driver built in, AND build the userspace driver (may not even be trivial to compile this).
no idea about the xbox one controller but a wired 360 controller works with my nexus 6 and 10, i can navigate through android and i can map keys with drastic ds emulator which is what i use it for, dont know about other game
