So i was in school and i was caught texting due to the tilt being so damn big. I was in the cafeteria and a teacher came up behind me and snatched my phone. Good thing this is my first time getting caught because its 1 day without my phone and a parent has to come and pick it up. Second offense is 3 weeks and a parent comes and gets it and the third offense is they keep the phone until the end of the year. This sucks. I feel so lost without it.
ROFL.. i would of ****ign stabbed a ***** if she grabbed my phone.. u kno they probli took it and played around with it n ****
I pull the whole, I was writing down HW that a friend gave me, so that I wouldnt forget, its a PDA too ya know...
And thier like, Oh, get really red (Because ive taught all me friends to stare at the teacher meanacingly if any of us gets out phone taken away) and the PDAhone is returned.

sounds like crappy public schools of america. I'm glad my high school years are long and far behind me...this is one of the reasons college kicks hard core ass.
they have no right to take your phone for that long...only unless you signed something that allows them to hold it, but other then that, they cant do that...sue them mofos
The suckage...
My school sucks just as much if not more. They see a phone out, its instant detention, 3 demerits, and its taken away for 2 weeks! Oh and 18 demerits is an expulsion. Oh and for some reason, havin a PDA in class constitutes cheating becasue of what it can do!? and thats 6 extra demerits and 2 detentions! Yeah America needs to wake up and stop stereotyping people who actually care about not having a $1 piece of crap as their phone!!!
American Kids need to man up & stop being little girly sissies. "Oh, the big bad teacher took my phone, boohoo."
It called a rule. You know it's there. You chose to either follow it or not. If not, you know the consequences, so deal with it & quit whining.
The one thing I'll give you credit for??? Thank God you weren't dumb enough to post this waste of space in the Development thread.
wait they took it for 2 weeks? yo F that i would deff slice the principals throat while laughing.
No they only took it for today i get it tomorrow. If i get caught again its 3 weeks. It sucks major. These are the times i wish i had put a pw on my phone. I havent because i usually have it and its a hassle to type in a pw everytime i look at my phone so i didnt. But oh how i wish i have. It sucks.
I think that there should be a crossroads
I also attend a High School with such rules, i just dont understand why they get so damn anal about it.
In Orange County Pubilc Schools the stupid rule is as follows:
-If I See It, Or Hear It, (Even if it attached to your belt) I Take It.
Why cant they get that most high school students, and now middle schoolers have phones. One thing is to be texting in the middle of Algebra Class, but why cant i check my messages at lunch or passing time. Why cant i make that quick call between classes or at lunch. But yet, here is the irony, ADMINS AND TEACHERS USE THEM IN FRONT OF US ALL THE TIME!!!!!!, but yet if i carry my tilt in my belt pouch, and if they see the pouch, they get all stupid about it. They want us to hide it, (as if it was illegal to carry one??).
this should probably be moved to off topic or else where.
When i was in highschool they tried to implement a rule like that, where if you were caught with your phone they'd take it away and a parent had to come pick it up. BUT a group of kids and parents got together and went against it. The school ended up not enforcing the rule because of all the highschool shootings most of the 911 calls came from students with cell phones in the school. The students were also able to call 911 before the school did in several cases.
So they just implented a rule that you cant talk/text during class. if you were texting in the hallway or cafeteria a teacher would just tell you to put it away.
One dickhead teacher use to attempt to confiscate them... then his tires got slashed... he wasn't that much of a dickhead after that
Also speaking of cheating.. When the nokie 3650 first came out (one of the first camera BT phones) a couple of friends and I had them and one person would sit in the hallway next to the class i was in and during an exam i'd covertly snap a pic of the test page and bluetooth the pic to my "corespondent" then he'd look up the answers and text them back ... or i'd take pics of the text book and zoom and pan through the pic for answers
oh ya i didnt know where to post it. I just saw kaiser general and figured this was the spot. But i was in the cafeteria and had it under the table and its just so lame. Gimme a break.
that sucks, at my school of corse your not supposed to use your phone in class, but thats it. during passing period, lunch, before or after class, you can use it.
however one time my teacher saw my phone when i had the camera app up, she asked "is that a cell phone or camera?" i knew she wouldnt have cared if i said it was a phone, shed just tell me to put it away, but i said it was a camera and showed her. she thought it was, lol.
well im in southern cali as well and i have never had anything like that happen to me. i would give them the shaking im gonna kill you and everyone you know look and would get off with a warning. i just dont let people take things from me, be it a pda or pen or anything. however if you are as violent and selfish as me you should try and follow the rules if you know you will have this reaction. just my .02 cents.
oh and the guy crackin on americans, kinda rude bro, theres no need for that here. but then again this post should prob be moved but whatever. sorry to hear bout your tilt, just be sneaky next time or face the same result.
I can see high school hasn't changed a bit since I've been there. They teach you all about freedom yet it's more of a police state than North Korea. The only loophole was the TI graphing calculators. They were not necessary for our studies but they were the one device that could play games that wasn't banned. They tried to incorporate them into math class but the teachers could't use them.
HAHA yeah In my Jr. year of high school. We had a sub for my psychology class. I had my nintendo ds out and she made me put it away. So I did. Later 10 min b4 the bell when we were not doing anything I placed it ontop of my desk with all of my books and sat there. The teacher came over and placed her hand on my ds. I imedantly grabbed her hand and threw it off of my ds. I then threw my books and told her to fu** off.
LoL that was just for my ds.....
WTF???
"more of a police state than North Korea"? Yeah... I'm sure North Korean peasant families surviving on subsistence rations, a few hours of electricity a day, and being kept from seeking a better life elsewhere at the point of a gun are looking at you guys and saying "Well, at least we're not attending an American high school."

LoL, I just graduated from High School in a OCPS school, last year, they tried to pull the same thing my senior year because they saw my phone on my belt clip, and attempted to take it away, the loop hole in this one is they CANNOT take items over $150 in pricing because, its consider a liability if they loose it while its in their hands, but since they never inform students on that, and only inform students WHAT THEY CANT DO, and not the rights they have while attending school, its easy for them to get away with alot of it, just like (for OCPS schools anyway) a administrator cannot search your personal belongings, only your locker, only a administrator that is accompanied by law enforment. There is a website on the OCPS website somewhere that shows state statues for students rights, just sad a student has to find them to use them, but I guess its a fight to not get pushed around by school administrators that like to abuse their power more then others. So bottom line, if your in a OCPS school, you can fight it, you need to provide some proof though of the phone cost, and deny there attempt to take the phone, they will make you leave for the day for insubordination, but I think its better that then to leave a expensive phone in the hand of idiots as it is.
Friends,
Couldn't pass this up and not posting on this thread.
There are pro's and con's to using technology at all levels school, business, and socializing. The problem here is that the school's objective is to teach w/o interuptions of cell phones ringing, someone sending pictures of test questions (interesting though) and reducing theft issue's. Many students who break these rules ruin it for everyone else because of how it can help students that do have respect.
This also applies in the business world as well - If your in a meeting with the ceo, co-workers you want to be respectifull and not break the concentration of the meeting. Same with companies that are specific to what phones can be used and at what time. Most government companies will not allow pda's - camera's, voice recorders etc. Same principle - school/business.
Rule is a rule which has to be abided by. If abused then the school has the right to enforce their policy. We all have to live by rules and regulations.
The technology is cool and can be used to help students, but when the rules are not followed by everyone - this is the cause in effect.
I do think that having the phone in your locker, backpack - sound turned off is legitimate. During recess, lunch cool to use the phone.

Well I awoke this morning to find my new Scooter was stolen. It had a front wheel lock and a the back tire was locked. What the hell??? So can anyone feel my pain?

sorry man that sucks but i feel your pain
I live in Philadelphia...
If that wasn't enough to already make you understand I'll elaborate
-Car broken into 3 times took head unit all my cds and all my change plus cost of windows over 500 bucks (I leave my car completely empty now not even trash)
-House robbed 2 weeks after I moved here, took my 42" LCD, my xbox360, my laptop and monitor...how the hell hey carried all that out with no one seeing or reporting anything is beyond me.
but i learned my lesson, I have better car insurance and renters insurance now so I'm good...
Its really painful....what about the insurance???
Damn dude, that is the one thing I am worrying about. I think they were casing the neighborhood. I live in a house behind another house, my little house could be confused for a storage area (it however does look like a mini house). Anyways my neighbor ( the one in front of me) has been on vacation for a week or two so it looks like no one is home. I hope they don't try to break in to my place at least not while I am there.

I feel your pain bud but, I have a somewhat contraversial view .... read on and follow me.
About 8 years ago I had a BRAND SPANKING new YZF-R6 - about 6 n 'alf grands worth of 600cc supersports bike parked outside my house. Along came a bunch of kids (16/17 year olds) who started wheeling it off down the road without my knowledge. Anyway, they were chased off by a neighbour. You can imagine my anger and rage. The police came over and said they could do nothing even though they knew who had tried it - hence, they told us there ages. The copper said to me:
"I wish they'd stolen your bike"
"Why?"
"They are only 16/17 years old and with a bike like that, we'd be one less bike thief in the world"
Ya know what, I *almost* agreed with him - except it would of been MY bike.
The law is there to protect yourself as well as others. People aged 16/17 do not have the maturity to handle a bike like that ..... and it was proved ..... read on ....
Walking home from the pub a few nights later a fast road round the corner was closed. Blow me, someones smashed up a Fireblade (at the time, 900cc superbike). The wreckage of the bike was there, a bent lamp post and a couple of coppers. Turns out the rider had died.
That week in my local newspaper:
"On XXXday night, a 16 year old kid dies on xxx road riding his own moped"
Yeap this was the incident that closed the road. It clearly WASN'T a moped, it clearly WASN'T HIS bike (he wasn't old enough) and why the f*&K did the paper lie about it? Oh, I also found out a few days later that it was one of the kids that tried to steal my bike.
Contraversial bit coming up:
Darwin ruled over the rider and judged him inelligable to breed, removing him from the gene pool. Ever since then i've been a big fan of Darwin, specialy when it comes to car/bike thieves - even now, I can feel my blood boiling, face going red.... hope these thieves all get whats coming to them, painfully, just not taking out innocent by-standers in the process.
:O ouch. I'm only 15 and I was thinking of getting a suzuki gsx 600 next year when I get my license. It's not that hard to control. It's just that people are too stupid and they HAVE to show off somehow and lose control and crash...smart.

Even though a GSX-F (i'm assuming you don't mean GSX-R) is old, its still very fast for a new passer. Not sure what country your from but when I passed my test a GSX-F 600, for that matter any 600, you need needed to be 21 years old here in the uk. Thats for a reason and a very good one.
If you think its not that hard to control and treat it with that candid attitude then, you will be in hospital... if your lucky.
Not trying to be rude, just don't think you really understand how dangerous they are.
Can somebody who drives in the middle lane on the motorway in the UK (when the left hand lane is empty) please explain why? I have racked my brain trying to figure out why these people do this, and I can't think of 1 single polite answer!
They're too scared to change lanes.
Personally, when safe to do so, I take advantage of the passing in lanes rules and use lane 1.
When I used to work in Staines, the quickest way around the M25 was to stick in lane 1 as everyone else was sat in 2-4 usually not moving.
The strangest example I had was on the A27 to Brighton, ok it was 2 lanes, but I passed a Porche that was doing 60mph and pulled back into lane 1.
In my rear mirror I saw him indicate and move out to lane 2.
He didn't speed up, and at 1am we were the only two cars for miles!
It's like people who do bang on 40 in the national speed limit (not a problem if it is for safety due to winding country road) but then speed up to 45mph in a 40 zone or do 36mph in a 30 zone before returning to 40 when they've gone through the village back to the national speed limit.

Mate - we speak the same language! I experience all of the above regularly. I seriously want someone to give me a good reason to stay in the middle lane though. I'd rather be able to defend them in my mind when I go from the left hand lane, all the way to the right hand lane, just to overtake someone sitting in the middle, but I can't figure out a way to do it!
I think you may be right that they're just scared of changing lanes. I'd still like someone who actually does to explain though.
Ok, since we speak a different English, I'm going to try and explain what I think.
You say middle lane. And with the rest of what y'all said, I think I get it. Here we would call that a six lane road. Three on either side for traffic to flow. To go with you, I think you're calling 1 the furthest lane from the entrance and exits. Now with three lanes, I ride in the 2 lane so as not to get caught up in the cars getting on and off the road, and not impede the, what we call the fast or passing lane, 1. Generally you can do the speed limit or more and you're not slowing down or getting caught up in traffic.
I think that's what you're talking about and wanting to know why someone would ride in that lane, maybe?

Thats what I got out of it. I also stay away from the lane closest to the exits/entrances. It doesn't matter which lane I'm in as long as I'm not behind someone going really slow.
Here in Holland, although we drive on the righthand side it's the same problem.People still like to sit in the middle lane.If you stay in the fast lane even though you're able to move right and the cops see it,then it's a on-the-spot fine. They want to bring in a law for the middle lane aswell and I for one hope they do.

Excellent!
Over here you should always be in lane 1 (closest to slip roads/junctions - furthest from on coming traffic) except when you are overtaking slower vehicles (when it is safe to do so) or are directed to do so by someone of authority, and move back to lane 1 as soon as possible.
Vehicles joining the carriageway give way to traffic on the carriageway, not the other way around so there is no need to move into lane 2 to allow vehicles onto the carriageway.
There normally is sufficient distance between junctions to enable returning to lane 1 after overtaking traffic that is slowing in lane 1 to leave the carriageway, so again, no legitimate reason not to be in lane 1.
Here's another question:
What legitimate reason would there be to need your front fog lights on but not your rear fog lights?
One word answer:
Laziness.
I guess I want to share this. Monday, Aug 29, 2011, some jackass wouldn't let me in their lane in a bumper to bumper traffic near an exit. My blinkers was on forever, but no response. I was trying to move over the right to exit. I noticed he had his blinkers and started moving towards the same ramp I wanted to get to finally, which would give me an opening, but he kept stalling and not moving even though he had an opening himself. I think he was deliberately messing with me.
My windows was closed as I had the AC on, but all of a sudden I heard a thud and saw something hit the front passenger side of my car near the side mirror. It was just a glimpse, so I didn't know what it was. All I know was it had some mass to it, and it looked tan in color. I looked back and saw the jackass who wouldn't let me in all this time rolled down his window flipping the finger and yelling ****!
What, the idiot didn't think anyone have cameras these days? And in dead traffic, it was easier to snap his license plate.
There isn't much damage to the car. Might have a nick on my paint but then again it could have been there before.
State police just too busy to help. They keep saying they will come by my local police station, but never shows up even after I waited over 2 hours.
I basically gave up. It's really frustrating to report anything, so I can see why a lot of things go unreported.
I still have the photo, but it frustrates me that I can't do anything about it. Those online sites that promises to look up license plates look shady, so not worth even trying them out.
Grrrr!
Don't you "guys" have SMS services and stuff to look up things like this? If i want to check a license plate i can send a text with REGNR <license number> to 2282.
Don't know how it works in the states though.

We don't, unfortunately. Only the authorities would have this ability. There are websites that says they can, but they all look shady. From what I've Google'd, it looks like a plate # does nothing unless you report to the police or know someone who's a cop.
I tried reporting to the police, but just getting the run-around. It really is frustrating.

Ok, i get playing around a little for a little while, but then educate yourself and become proficient.. Don't just live out your days as a script kiddie and think you're accomplishing anything of note... I've tinkered and built PC's, laptops, desktops, (yes i know what PC stands for, lol), pretty much my entire adult life, not diving deep enough to really make anything of it, but enough so where back in 2006 out of highschool, i basically had a mini sever farm in my living room, built from old parts the schools either broken or trashed, and anywhere i could pick up any used PC's for little to nothing. Fast forward to mid to late 2010, my then GF, now wife, pushed me to get my GED and attend college, to which i did and majored in auto mechanics, studied to achieve masters mechanics status but late 2011 i was driving home late/early morning and ended up spinning out from a faulty right rear second hand strut tower mount on the right rear of a 97 subaru lagacy that had the boxer engine in it, and 8 months of steady work done. Went around a curve close to home and the strut shot through the top mount, right rear dropped on the tire causing a skid, jumo a covered pipe completing a 180, and htting a tree square in the middle of the trunk at approx 65mph. Severe head trauma, broke my orbital bone, left clavical, all of my ribs, cracked skull, and 2 fractured, one broken, and 2 crushed vertebrea, lacerated liver, deflated and punctured both lungs and lacerated my pancreas... Went out the back glass of the car, and 20 feet on the other side of the road in the ditch.. The people that rescued me, and operated on me i owe the air i breathe, and the sports medicine specialist i owe my ability to do all else and function like a normal adult for the most part. 2 18 1/2" Silicone rods down either side of my upper dorsal spine, 12 titanium blocks, 6 straps and 32 screws all jiust on my spine between my shoulders, and 12 1" blocks on my clavical with 2 screws each... Went in the ER 260lbs at 6' 4"s tall solid big guy, came out 3 months later and medically induced coma, 6' even and 141lbs soaking wet. Fast forward 9 yrs, came across some online courses and jumoed back into computers hard, went through a 10 month program through the My Computer Career folks and graduated a ITCSE October of 2020, and attempting to earn gainful employment close to home at the new microsoft facility that has been up and running and under construction for the last 10 yrs or so, so going down a more practical route. and have been workin for myself and been trying to start my own business of "Mobile IT Troubleshooting, repair, replace & installation. What makes me different, is I'll beat the competition. I'll beat them there, and in price. Give me a call, and I'll come to you." Yeah, corny, i know, but it's a start and im loving it so far... Just starting out, but through networking, trial and error, and with each disability check, purchasing the specialized tools needed for certain jobs, I'll get to where i want to be soon enough. Thanks to any who actually read this long winded intro, and hope that im able to learn a lot from here, and to meet and correspond with the best and brightest.. Thanks again,
