Anyone know anything about this stand?
I do! I just read about it. Lol

One immediate problem with it and the Nexus is you couldn't use it in portrait mode, the audio connector needs to plug in at the bottom.

uuhh no you can't, look at the size of the connector with its strain relief (5th picture), no way you can plug that in and have it sit under the N7.

I was looking on the Asus specs page and noticed it had a hall sensor can this and will this be used like the iPad 2 and use cases to wake and sleep it. On the cover on Google play it didn't say anything about it and I assume this would be a feature they would want to embrace.

I found this case earlier today which does suggest that feature works http://www.amazon.com/rooCASE-Multi...2&keywords=roo+case+nexus+7#productPromotions
I pre-ordered one.
For users who seek additional protection, Nexus 7 has an optional protective smart cover. The smart cover is a tough, yet snug-fitting polymer case with a non-slip matte texture that protects Nexus 7 from bumps and scratches, and also provides additional grip. The case comes in six different colors to allow users to pick the one which best fits their lifestyle and allows Nexus 7 owners to travel with confidence.

From the Asus website... http://usa.asus.com/News/82X3sMt2tbBLf6xN/
I'm confused because they call it a "smart cover" but they don't say anything about that feature, which in my opinion is implied when you call it a "smart" cover.

Don't worry, Blackberries had this feature eons before the iPad.
I can't replicate this. Did you use a neodymium magnet?

I have no idea what kind of magnet it was. Just some magnet I picked up to use on the metallic walls in my office.

I tried a few refrigerator magnets with zero luck. My wife has the iPad case, so I'm going to try that when she gets back later this afternoon.
I tried some off my fridge too that don't to edo the trick. The ones that are plastic and flexible specifically. But the ones like in my video that seem to be made of some metallic material definitely work.

Why? Google had nothing to do with it.
I've emailed in to get it returned. The seller is stating that they sent the wrong one, but I've kind of lost my faith in it. Might get a folio case thing instead.
It is funny that they have turned the USB connector the different way up to other phones and tablets I've used. Maybe the manufacturer thought Asus would follow with the general rule and got caught out.
Upside down USB and really picky with chargers... What'll come up next?

I don't think this is really made by Google as they haven't announced docks yet

PEBKAC. This is an emartbuy dock (you can see plenty on play.com's site). They only appear to carry these for phones. This one looks exactly like the one made for the Samsung Galaxy SIII.
oh man
wow *FacePalm* But thanks for the heads up. I'll know to steer away from this one I am looking in to an alarm clock dock that also streams music and charges the Nexus 7. Not available yet but signed up for info.
Sorry if this has been asked before but is anyone else's included USB cable rubbish? Mine won't stay in the phone and just pops back out whenever I put it in... Just got the phone today using the cable from my NS4G with the new 2A charger hoping it charges correctly and nothing goes wrong. Is there a fix for this so the plug stays in the phone? My NS4G cable stays in just fine... Love the phone so far in the few hours I have had it today. It's so big I feel awkward holding it but I LOVE IT!!! Such a great phone.
Well the ns4g cable charges it to 100% overnight so i guess I'll keep using that...

Yep same issue here. My cable also pops up very often. I was wondering if I cut a little bit of the white plastic at the base of the micro usb side, will do the job....

Yeah, there's a thread on here somewhere about this very issue. I believe the above suggestion works. As always YMMV.
Yeah i asked the same question here before, some people experience that including me. Solution is to file around the usb port or use anotheer cable.
Unfortunate that we pay such a premium price for this phone and are left with an unusable usb cable
Sent from my SPH-L900
The cable works fine for me. High quality and all. It doesn't pop out in its own.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
It's a really nice cord, I'd say high quality but it just pops out and i can't use it ): I guess I will have to cut some of the white back on the cord or just use the ns4g one which seemed to charge it fine with the 2a charger.

Mine cable is good too, I also using my old Nokia MicroUSB cable (from Nokia N82) which is fits well too.
I really liked the fact the dock could do audio out and charge via the pogo pins, so I figured that would be perfect in the car. When I got the dock, I couldn't find a good spot to mount it....until now. The completed setup works awesomely!
All you need for this project is a metal bookend and some JB weld.
Bookend
Dock attached with JB Weld
Piece removed from the cover bezel
Wires fed to where the back of the dock will be
All I did here was wedge the bookend between the radio and dash kit, and then attached the cables for power/audio
BACK TO THE PRIMITIVE!!!!

Nice ... as long as you do not drive ..
Works fine when driving. The pins actually make better contact if the tablet is pushed slightly forward, so I bent the vertical part of the bookend to keep it slightly forward. Plus the rubber on the rear of the nexus making contact with it seems to create enough friction to keep it from popping up.
WARNING: Turn down your volume.
Good to know this works. I was planning on doing something a bit similar, but slowly building it up to be cleaner in the end. The dock will be an integral part, though.
Do you have any trouble keeping the tablet charged? I know people have no problems if they use one of the recommended chargers from the charger thread, but I wasn't sure if the dock may hinder or slow down charging any.
Awesome! Thanks man

Well I have it set to keep the screen awake while charging, so it does still drain the battery. It really isn't bad though. Barely goes down. The speed of the charging seems equivalent to charging via usb connection, rather than the wall charger.

Sorry for not responding for so long. I did have a bit at first when going over bumps, but over time it stopped. I think it's because the pins springy-ness calmed down over time. Also, the bookend helps keep the tablet from moving, because the rubber backing of the tablet makes contact with it and keeps it from too much. So over time, this setup has ended up working perfectly.
I have the same setup. Do you constantly have to enable media output to dock? When I start mine up each time I have to go into the sound settings and fix this.

People have had varying levels of success with the air dock, which sticks via a sticky foam. So if you absolutely want magnets, then that won't work but otherwise it might. I ordered the air dock to see if it works, and I also have a d brand skin on the way if the naked back doesn't work, hopefully the carbon skin will stick.

I have the original and it sort of works without a case. But doesn't hold well. I have my hopes for the 2.0 version. Version 1.0 was awesome with my Nexus 5.
I'm using this and while it works getting the Nexus 6 into it is a little more work than just slapping my phone on the airdock.
