I would like to know, how to make recovery booting first, because when boot loop appears I have to flash my OB with SFT to launch recovery and restore rom. Ubuntu haves grub and if Ubuntu crashes user can go to the recovery and repair his computer. Is it possible to make CWM recovery with 10 sec. timeout till android starts ?
AFAIK the only thing you can do about it is button combo to start in recovery right away, most roms make the combo power + volume up when leds start flashing.
I think i read somewhere what you want can't be done but I'm not sure if that is true, couldn't find the thread where this was stated
This is what i found, but this is modified kernel and it won`t help if boot loop appears .I just want to make recovery booting first, an later to modify it
I dont know if there is bootloader (like grub or lilo in linux) in OB, but maybe this can help you to enter recovery if you have bootloop

there is tutorial to make it by yourself in this post

Thank you but i alredy have this and i just want to know how to make cwm recovery booting first by default.

It doesn't seem possible to get my phone to boot into recovery mode. When trying to do so it goes to the four coloured X and then to a black screen, so the phone automatically switches off instead of booting into recovery. I need to press the power button to restart it.
The bootloader is unlocked and the phone is rooted if that could in any way affect it. I'd like to be able to use Clockwork to be able to make a back up.
Any ideas?
I don't know the reason but try the following. Install rom manager. From rom manager install an older version of clockwork an hit reboot into recovery from there.
No it might be going into recovery but you can't see it because you have an SLCD phone. Try flashing Among RA 1.8.0.1 or 1.9.0
Well, I'd downloaded rom manager before where it didn't work but now it seems to be working. I was able to flash ClockworkMod Recovery and reboot into recovery from rom manager. Not sure why it's any different now.
Anyway, hopefully it'll stay working. Many thanks for your reply
Good day everyone...
I have one Galaxy Tab P1000 here stuck in boot loop... I really don't know what happened before it got stuck into this loop but it was working fine, it got battery empty and when done charging, it got stuck in a boot loop already...
I have tried to go into stock recovery but the sad thing is that I can navigate through the menu but I can't press the OK button (the power button) to select anything to do. So I searched through the forum and tried a few things, the most notable would be trying to go back to safe stock in the Overcome thread, still it is in boot loop. I tried to go further by installing the overcome kernel... skipping the part where I'm supposed to go to the settings (because basically I cant go to the settings menu).... still I was able to install the kernel and even the Overcome ROM, sadly even with the MOD ROM its still in the boot loop , one thing to note though, when I go into the recovery mode in Overcome ROM I can press the OK button (power button), I mean it responds now and I can basically navigate through the recovery menu and select things from there... but It is still stuck in a boot loop
need some advice
Stock 3e OK button is actually the capacitive HOME button.
Your tab was responding the same in stock as in overcome.
Can't help you about the looping though.
Have you tired restocking again with pit file?
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda app-developers app
tried the home button too but still no avail it wasnt responsive... i have made all the reflashing with the specific pit file needed it wont get out of the loop

steps
in CWM, wipe factory reset, cache, dalvik, everything that you can find.
flash kernel CWM6.0.4.5 (from download mode)
install a new rom.
choice_B
flash kernel TWRP2.3.5 (I think or some version similar) (from download mode)
it has some extra WIPE to delete BOOT, RECOVERY, SYSTEM, etc. WIPE them all. If you can manage this, it doesn't even LOOP.
install a new rom.
problem.
There is a TWRP that can't boot into recovery by VOL+_Power. Only can get in from home screen advanced reboot.
may be some other older TWRP can enter recovery, try to find one. I'm not so sure my self.
choice_C
if somehow you managed to boot into home screen, install apk (bootloader check) by chainfire (I think), I had previously experience some dev uses locked bootloader, which doesn't allow you to flash new rom properly.
btw do you know the 8 seconds power button to get a real shutdown?
thanks cx5 im gonna do try all the choices... real reset meaning a powercycle (8 sec hold of power button)
Good luck,
New advances, TWRP solved, now able to boot from VOL_UP+power. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48418252&postcount=365
Suggest to use @terenceng 's rom too, it has one of the highest free ram 487MB.
Another tip, if you hold power button forever it will boot loop forever.
i.e.
from shutdown
4 seconds will boot up (may be it's 3, anyway)
another 8 seconds will shutdown. (may be it's 7, anyway)
total is 12 seconds.
When I didn't have enough experience in counting the time accurately, I overshoot the 8 seconds shutdown to around 12 seconds and it boots up, and I think it is looping. But in fact it is not. I accidentally made it boot up. Hope you don't fall into this condition.
GT-P1000 are fantastic that it can surely shutdown, as long as the 8 sec rule is properly implemented. no more no less.
Then you can always go to download mode. overcome restock has always save my day. Good luck.

I forgot to say, locked bootloaders will STOP overcome restock. It will not allow it. Must use bootloader UNLOCK apk. Happened to me so many times in the past.

thank you for the help guys but the problem was actually the motherboard
Hi there i am relatively new to android modding and rooting etc. I recently tried to install Cyanogenmod to my phone and I succeeded, but the next day my phone began to restart itself, turns out that the power button is broken. We tried to repair it but ended up burning down the processors internal i/o (latch or whatever structure it has) with a faulty multimeter . Now i have to turn on my phone with a dock cable (with 1kohm res) which wakes up the phone, i can access the Download mode by plugging in the dock, and pressing home+down, but the recovery needs the power button signal too.
I can access the recovery by using adb commands, but i need to boot in. If i install a new recovery like CWM, i am stuck in a bootloop and i don't know if i can use the adb commands. Is there any other way to get into recovery mode, besides home+power+up, or adb commands?
Can i install CM onto the phone under these circumstances?
Thanks for any help given!
Not sure how you are going to select options in recovery as you need the power button unless you have Touch Recovery or TWRP recovery. Anyway use this app to boot to recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1423071

Well if i install a new recovery mod like clockworkmod then i'll be in one. That is why it is necessary to reboot in it so i can install the ROM.
Rather get your power button replaced.
After flashing CM 12 recovery my device shows "no command" error when in recovery
Hi Guys,
I have a moto g 2014 xt 1068
finally decided to install cyanogen mod on my device and used the guide provided here.
I have unlocked the bootloader
I have followed the steps: adb reboot bootloader -> fastboot flash recovery my_image.img -> entered recovery it worked. It didn't have any 'install from zip options'.
The tutorial said to copy the files on the internal card, which I did after booting the phone. Then I wanted to enter recovery mode again and this time it showed a black screen followed by the message "no command" and a dead android animation. If I hold the power button for a few seconds it restarts in normal mode and I can use the phone, but I can't install cyanogen mod.
I tried flashing again the cynogen recovery, it worked, I could enter the menu, but again, no 'install from zip' option. If the phone boots in normal mode, the cyanogen recovery gets corrupted or something and I can't use it. I'm afraid to brick my device if I continue with something else by my own and wanted to ask you guys for help.
I'm not a total noob when it comes to phones (rooted, flashed a variety of devices in the past) but I'm not that familiar with the recent developments.
Thanks!
Nevermind,
installed TWRP and made sure that:
Note many devices will replace your custom recovery automatically during first boot. To prevent this, use Google to find the proper key combo to enter recovery. After typing fastboot reboot, hold the key combo and boot to TWRP. Once TWRP is booted, TWRP will patch the stock ROM to prevent the stock ROM from replacing TWRP. If you don't follow this step, you will have to repeat the install.

My solution
First go to this link to restore to stock using this easy install script by @reefuge (find your device and country)(THIS WILL WIPE YOUR INTERNAL STORAGE!!)
http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/official-stock-firmware-5-0-2-lxb22-46-t3019612
While restoring stock do not lock your bootloader.
Now got to this link for twrp : http://dl.twrp.me/titan/ Download 2.8.6.0
Now you put the twrp file in the platform tool in your android sdk. and install as usual.
Now disconnect from comp and press volume down button to selet recovery and then press vol up to enter into recovery. TWRP will patch your system to restrain it from reverting to stock recovery. Now youre done flash whatever you want.
One more thing : Try this battery guide By @Abhishek Bhagwat (works really well and its noob friendly) http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/guide-battery-guide-cm-based-stock-t3153365
I'm sure 90% that this will solve your problem. But if it doesnt well we'll see about that if it doesnt.

Hi,
I need some help with my smartphone, is stuck at boot.
With a usb jig i can enter in download mode and flash with odin. I flashed many roms and this always happend.
I cant enter in recovery because the volume rocker not work and adb do not recognize MTP usb drivers.
How can i found a solution for this?
thank you
If it stucks in bootloop after flashing a stock ROM via Odin , you will need to wipe data partition.
But I would suggest replacing your volume rocker to be able to enter recovery mode because it seems like the easiest way (Not 100% sure it's the easiest way tho)
Hey, thank you for your replay.
I already changed my volume rocker and it seems to not work. I think is board problem.
Can i use a keyboard with otg to enter in recovery mode?
Use an app that let's you boot straight to recovery (there's alot)
But first I suggest flashing TWRP as you can't use CWM if you have a broken volume button

Stuck on boot on all roms you flashed? Had this problem once, you must clean the dalvik cache prior to booting for the 1st time, but since adb and volume rocker doesn't work for you I'm afraid you gotta take another visit to the store
Id like to know wich is the volume ways and resitors on board, may be i can fix this.
Edit:
When i perform a ctrl+alt+del with keyboard by otg the phones reboot like normal. There are any way to use the keyboard to access recovery?
And maybe another solution is, install a rom via odin with adb activated but i didnt found any one.
thank you
