Upgraded to SlimJB2.1 and everything works fine except for the Google Search bar/widget.
It's just a translucent bar with the search icon on the left and nothing else (no microphone icon). I click on it and nothing happens.
I switched from the default Holo Launcher to Zeam, and got the same results.
Did a search on the SlimJB development thread, but no one seems to be having that problem.
Anyone else seen this before, and know how to fix it? Thanks.

At the risk of looking like a n00b, I'm answering my own question in case it helps someone else.
I figured the problem might be related to Google Now, as that's one of the new search features in JB. What I did is to flash the Google Now addon from here:
<URL deleted as not allowed for n00bs>
Addon can be found under the addon section of the Downloads section of slimroms.nfye.eu
After that, I disabled the GNow functionality, and the offline search still works. I guess most people would be using GNow, that's why they didn't encounter my issue.

I have Cyanogen's 4.2.3.1 installed with the 2.0 Maps application and Navigation works correctly for me.
Since I installed Navigation I am getting a huge "Double tap to answer" button that pops up on my screen when a call comes in.
A) It seems to have shortened the amount of time my phone rings before sending to voicemail
B) The double tap is flaky
C) It looks like ****
I have searched Google and the forums to see if this was an issue people had but can only find people talking about the in-call unlock screen.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to stop it?
Is your navigation actually on while this is happening? If you have the little triangle above in your task bar then it is.
If you are fully exited from maps this shouldn't come up. At least it doesn't on my phone.
This happens all the time now. Even with GPS off and the Maps app not even loaded. Persists through reboots.
Odd. This happens while I have maps loaded, but not when its not loaded.
How did you install navigation?
push back our old build.prop
Will pushing back my old build.prop disable navigation?
No navigation only needs it for the install. I thought that might be the problem. Push your old prop files back and good luck!
this happend to me aswell, but i actually liked the double click - box look
that would also happen when my phone was just sitting here, no nav on, it would just light up, and have the double click box lit up.
i was on 4.2.3.1.
all that ended when i flashed cyan 4.2.4
i didnt wipe.. or fix permissions.
i installed navs from other thread [basically just the update.zip and clear data]
and everythingg works just fine. thanks to all!
I didn't know 4.2.4 was out yet but thought a Cyanogen Mod update would probably fix that issue. Reverting to my previous *.props has fixed all the issues.
You should've posted this in the Q&A section or an existing related thread.
Anyways.. To get rid of the double tap box, you need to push back the original build.props. If you do that however, you'll lose navigation in a few hours, like 6 or 7 hours.
There's already a thread about this that's named something like "unlocked features from new build.prop".

I will remember that next time. After being on here for almost 3 years I forget that the newbie youngsters like to change how we have done things here. Like one thread per issue. Thank you for the helpful link to the thread you thought I should have posted it in, great to see that XDA hasn't gone all to hell with newbie senior members who just throw out dictates and then can't even do a decent job of helping people.
use this if you are running cyanogen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583684
Heres the thread for updated features from build.prop
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583030
I just did the install with the newest cyanogen and then tried calling myself and I dont have any issues.
Also, navigation works fine.
I have a G1 with CM 4.2.4, and I'm not having the issue either. I tested incoming calls with the NAV and in maps.
I finally got Navigation -and- paid apps in Market to show, but, I am experiencing the same problem as the OP mentioned.
I don't want to lose Navigation but this is a little annoying. Someone mentioned if I put the original build.prop and build.trout.prop back, Navigation will not show up. How can we get the best of both worlds?

i swear i feel like people just post without reading anything. i posted a link to a thread that will fix your problem. look up a few posts. another member here had an update.zip that will install the maps without breaking the market, without making the weird floating box, and without any other weird problems. if you are running cyanogen it will work perfect.
the .props need to me modified to allow navigation to remain longer than a few hours. just apply the update-navigation.zip from recovery mode and it will fix your issue.

Actually I am having this same issue WITH using that .zip but for me it is no big deal. We are lucky to have Nav, I will take it with whatever problems (temporary of course) it comes with!
i had the double tap issue after i manually installed nav on wednesday. today i ran that .zip and the box is gone. i dont get why it would work for some people and not others.
the zip was actually updated 3 or 4 times. so if you applied it when it was first dropped, maybe you have an old version
Hi guys!
I've been searching around for a simple solution to OC/neat-freak people such as myself...
What has been bothering me for the longest time is the fact that some apps that don't really do anything still add an icon to the app drawer even if it is never needed.
Ex. Document Scanner's Add-On (It is literally just a second icon leading to the same program)
There are also some apps that are needed for other people but I, myself, really do not need to see or access them.
Ex. SuperUser, BusyBox
And there are others that come right out of the box courtesy of Google but I can't uninstall because it will mess things up.
Ex. Google Talk
I eventually found a solution to this using LauncherPro and other launcher alternatives since they all have the feature of hiding whatever application icon you choose...but the thing is:
I don't really like the look of it. I want to stick to the default look of my Samsung Galaxy S (Yes, I like TouchWiz!) It looks a lot nicer, IMHO. And it feels so much smoother also. I also like to organize my app drawer the way I want which is easy to do with TouchWiz.
I know Android ideally uses the homescreens for all the apps you need or use the most and everything else gets hidden in the app drawer..but I like keeping my homescreens tidy with widgets and very few shortcuts only.
So I was wondering...if LauncherPro can implement the feature of app hiding (which really just shows a list of all your apps and let's you check whatever apps you want hidden) then isn't there a mod or a simple app out there or that can be made that simply does this? I don't mind paying a bit.
* After a bit of digging, I came across an old thread on this forum by Irrenhaus about his Advanced Launcher. He apparently customized the launcher that came with Cyanogen (I only skimmed his post, sorry!) where he implemented a lot of great features like folders in the app drawer, app icon hiding and the like. I am very much interested in these features...but again I really don't want to change the look of my Samsung Galaxy S.
* I saw a lot of people posting the TouchWiz Launcher apk for use with other phones... is it possible then to just modify the twlauncher.apk file and implement these other features just like Irrenhaus did? If so, can someone go about doing this for me? I'm willing to pay a reasonable amount. I really do not know how to do this on my own...
* I saw some random dead-end posts in other forums that state that by deleting a line in an app's code or something you can allow the app to install without placing a shortcut. I'm not sure if it works though since there were no replies after that...
Here is the line of code in the manifest file to remove:
<category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" />
Is this possible with downloaded apps? Seems illegal to tamper with other people's codes... Or is that just a solution for people who make their own apps... I am only familiar with Java so I don't know how to go about these code modifications in Android.
I'm sorry for the lengthy-looking post! I hope I can get some answers or suggestions soon enough.
Thank you all in advance!
SOLVED!!!
Nvm! Found an app for this!
The app is called "Smart Bar" the dev says it currently doesn't work well for Froyo but I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S running JPM ("official" froyo) right now and the hide app feature works just fine.
Best of all, it's completely free! It also has a ton of interesting/useful features. I have yet to play around with the other features so I can't confirm they all work in JPM.
At first I was afraid that the app would literally just "disable" but not delete the app via the renaming the apk method since when one clicks to hide an app it says "Disabling ____" ...so I thought oh great it hides the app icon and stops it from working too... But I tried it out with the Document Scanner Add-On and it still works fine from the main app.
Hope this information helps people out! Should be very useful for people who want to hide those add-ons and packs that for some reason have their own icons upon installing but just need the main app.
Nice

Hi Guys,
Having installed the "GT-N7000_SweetROM_V6.0_LSF (1)" on my GT-N7000 Note, made it happen that "S-voice", if I want to work with it, is always giving the message: "No network connection, connect to networks and try again".
Trying to make sure that it was not my phone itself that caused this problem, I unrooted my phone and reinstalled its Stock ROM (N7000XXLSZ_N7000XENLS4_XEN.zip) again. Then, everything worked like clockwork again - so the ROM probably must have caused the problem...
My question, probably to the developers of this ROM (although the Note users themselves are also invited for suggestions), is if they are familiar with this "S Voice" issue on the GT-N7000 where "GT-N7000_SweetROM_V6.0_LSF " was installed? If so, could you please tell me what to do to have "S Voice" also work with this ROM? Does it have to do with my settings or should there be an update needed to have this problem solved? I really would love to have this ROM reinstalled again and hope you can hand me a solution. :fingers-crossed:
I hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you for your reply. I have been searching the internet but all I found was that this issue was regarded to other smartphones, like the Samsung S3.
If there is a GT-N7000 user, familiar with this problem (having installed the SweetROM V6 and facing problems with S Voice afterwards) and knowing how to fix this, I really would like to hear from him with the solution he found.
Thanks again.
Robert,

All I can say is you need to read all the notes etc on the page you got the ROM from. If you had you will find this;
MORE THEMES & FIXES
3 Great themes for Sweet ROM V6 from kmokhtar79 (Arman, Parsa & Kamran Theme's) - HERE
Multi Window NON TRANSPARENT - HERE (flash in cwm recovery)
Sweet ROM colorful icons on status bar - HERE (flash in cwm recovery)
Stock Battery (no percentage) & Transparent status bar with grey icons - HERE (flash in cwm recovery)
Total Stock Icons and battery with BLACK status bar - HERE (flash in cwm recovery)
SVoice fix. This will remove S4 SVoice and replace with working one from S3- HERE (flash in cwm recovery)
and this;
NOTES
SNote widgets are already set on home screens on TW launcher. They can be moved around the home screens by long press then move to screen of choice. If you delete them and then try put them up again from widget drawer they will now be wrong size. Sorry this is the best work around I have at the moment.
If you use the installed Xperia Launcher the widgets will be the right size.
Please note Snote may stay open in task manager/ active applications until you reboot. This is a known bug. FIXED BY THIS METHOD HERE
If you get SVoice "Can't get to network" error then flash fix above. This will remove S4 Svoice and replace with working one from S3.
Hope this helps you. If you still need help you can find the page HERE
Thank you for your reply.
I think you're doing me a great favor again with this fix. I'll let you kow if it all worked out.
For what it's worth: I DID read this page before, but I (mis)understood that the S Voice-fix, like I said earlier in my above message, was purely ment for the Samsung S3. So that is why I asked for your help. Since I am also very new on the job (flashing my phone that is), I do not hesitate to ask for help at the source. I hope you weren't annoyed...
Regards,
Robert,
Netherlands.
As I promised, I would inform you if the "S Voice" fix dit its job. Well, naturally, it worked as you stated, however I now see that "S Voice" does not show a choice menu anymore. Is this the way this fix works, is this the same way that the "S Voice" is working on the S3 as well, or am I stupidly missing a setting option to have the S Voice choice menu appear again?
Also I noticed, when having the "Sweet ROM V6" fixed, inside "S Note" the virtual red recording button on the top task bar, does not activate. I was hoping this fix would deal with it as well, but it did not. Are you familiar with this problem as well and the way to fix this?
To be clear, I am not critizising at all. I just bump into small issues I would like to know if they can be solved...
I hope to hear from you again.

Robert,

Navigation Bar Keeps disappearing when in Apps - CM11 Bug! Help Please!
I have even wiped the phone brand new started from scratch but the same issues
The apps i am trying to use are
FPSE
MUPEN64PLUS AE
MD.EMU
SuperGnes
OnLive
and a few more that i can't remember off the top of my head...I don'y have this issue with most other apps like Facebook Youtube Hangouts etc etc but i know it's causing a lot of my more frequent apps to not work
I even contacted the Dev of FPSE and thought it was his app then to confirm i tried the same apps on my Nvidia Shield and Nexus 7 and they worked fine...i'm starting to think it's a bug with Cyanogenmod 11 :S
Can anyone help me or recommend what i can do to fix this as cyanogenmod is my preferred Custom Rom for android!
Please post questions or help threads in the Q&A/Troubleshooting thread
You will receive help much more quickly if you post in the correct section

anyone?
Slide your finger from the place where the navbar should be. It should appear again.
If it doesn't then it's a rom issue indeed and posting this question here is pointless. If you have an issue with a specific CUSTOM ROM then do post such issues in the rom thread or somewhere else where developers of the rom want you to post.
I have an Unlocked Galaxy 8 purchased directly from Samsung. Right now, everything on it is stock, with the exception of apps from Google Play. Has not been rooted. (Don't have any immediate need for root at the moment, so going to let the root methods mature for a bit.)
I'm having an issue I've had with my last two phones and can't seem to find an answer for:
The default launcher keeps getting reset. I have no idea what's causing. Nova Launcher said it was the live wallpaper I was using, so I uninstalled that. I've looked and looked on post after post and there's no good info other than a hint at some sort of meta-data bug in Android 6.0 and above, but no idea of a fix.
Doe anyone know how to fix this? I was running LineageOS on my old S5 and having the same problem with it. It's annoying to hit the home button and have to select a launcher randomly.
