Looking for a bumper case - Nexus 7 Accessories

As the title says, I'm looking for a bumper case, somewhat like the cases for the nobi tablet.
Any other kid proof case would do, as the tablet is dedicated to my children and I'd prefer something that will keep them from ruining it.

That's almost it, it's just the price and the lack of shipment to Israel that make it not perfect.
Chinese copies of that item would like be great, an eye candy one would be greater

I recently purchased this
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Exact-Design-Google-Android-Tablet/dp/B008LJKTGC/ref=pd_sim_sbs_ce_2
have to say I am very pleased with it, the fit is superb, cutouts are all easily accessed. the cover is probably 1.2mm thick across the back and a little less around the edges. its edges lips aroubd the screen really well, my only concern is that it may lift a screen saver ? will find out soon enough in hand it feels similar to the textured back of the 7 itself. having had many cheapo silicon cases for phones and tabs I can highly recommend this cover :good:

10 Terra Bamboo case for the Nexus 7 review with pics.

I just got this case in the mail today. You all might remember the kick starter that happened a few months back for this case. Well, I backed it and thought that I would share my thoughts on my bamboo case.
First things first, this case just looks really good on the Nexus 7. The wood look is something that I really dig. All the cut outs are there except for the pogo pins...like we'll ever see that fabled dock anyways. The materials are simple; bamboo and felt. In the event that your tablet falls from your hands, I feel as though this case would be able to protect your shiny tablet. I will not, however be doing a drop test with my device for obvious reasons. Just trust me when I say the case feels solid. I like that the case covers the bevel and is particularly thick for extra protection around the craptastic plastic bevel. I've heard horror stories of people busting their Nexus 7 from slight drops on the bevel.
Some negatives about this case...I am not a huge fan of the two piece design and having friction hold the case together, but I will say that it feels solid and like they won't just fall apart on you during daily use. The tab part on the bottom portion of the case which acts as the tab to hold the two pieces together is paper thin. I feel as though this is the biggest flaw of the case. I guarantee I will probably bust that part on accident and then my $44 dollar case will be nothing more than trash. And yes, I did say $44 dollar case. Bamboo grows like a weed and isn't quite worth that much money. Felt? Inexpensive. I understand these are all handmade and sanded, but I do feel like maybe $44 is a little much to pay for this case. Drop it by $10 and I'd be a happy camper.
Overall, I'd say I can recommend this case for style factor and protection. However, I would say if you are going to be taking the case on and off a lot...maybe look elsewhere for a case or just be careful of the paper thin connecting tab.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask away.

Does it work for the nexus 7 3g???
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
I don't see why it wouldn't. As far as I know, the wifi version and the 3G version are identical when it comes to cases. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
EDIT: I just read a different thread that says they moved the microphone on the side a bit. So...the cutout isn't quite right. You could always contact 10 terra and ask if they plan to make a version for the 3G.

That would be easy, Since it is wood.

Bamboo is actually a type of grass so drilling/machining is more challenging than dealing with wood. There might be enough space inside the case for the mic to still pick up sound though.
Bamboo may grow fast but the price is mostly about all the machining and finishing.

I bought poetic revolution for the nexus 7 almost the exact same. It definitely adds weight and bulk to the nexus but it sure feels secure. The lip is almost an entire inch so it certainly feels safe. i have it dropped from walking height multiple times hard shoofly asphalt with no effects what v do ever.

Too big for my liking. Also don't like that kickstand. I am pretty careful, so minimalism is okay for me.

This thing case looks great but the reviews on it for the 7 are pretty bad. Either they say it is very hard to remove from the case or it has flimsy/broken legs on the stand.

Getting one and I'm glad it's bulky.....I'm used to that
I think the stand looks awesome and functional for any situation. If it doesn't feel strong enough, I will be careful not to stand on it while watching movies and such. There are more good reviews than bad so I feel confident that it'll be worth the chance

Get it, I love mine regardless of its flimsy stand (the smaller stand is flimsy, the large one is pretty sturdy in landscape mode). I got rid of the built in screen protector and used a skinomi and its perfect. It withstands the abuse of constantly being placed into a briefcase, its durable, and its about 12-1/3 of the price any otterbox or seidio case would be.
I have this case as well, and really like it, except one issue. The rubber that goes around the outside, is kinda loose around the top, and front facing camera area. U can seat it, but it just won't stay flush.... anyone else?
I just got mine today. I it is a decent case but the price has gone up on amazon since I bought it. The rubber does seem loose at the top like someone else stated. I the screen guard that is built in is decent, but I punched it out since I have a zagg invisishield.

Anyone else having issues with this case and video chat apps?
My N10 was behaving like an old, cheap speakerphone with Tango (choppy audio, bad mic) until I took the case off. Then it cleared right up.
Wondering if it might have been compressing the tablet in the mic/speaker region, or otherwise deflecting the sound?
Only me?

Any Real Leather Cases, Like This One?

I have a Poetic Hardback Case from amazon
It's nice for the price, but the hard plastic feels real cheap. I was googling cases and found this one.

There are two different versions of the case, and on expan they only have one picture of it.
Version 1 is like an iPad smart cover where it folds up in the back for it to stand up. Version 2 is like my poetic hardback case where you put the tablet into the "indents." I hate covers where you have to fold it up in the back to stand it up, so I'm going to email expansys and ask which one it is. It seems like it's version 1, the fold up one.

My wife got me this one for xmas http://www.amazon.com/i-Blason-Goog...d=1357244965&sr=1-2&keywords=iblason+nexus+10 I like it.
It looks like exactly what you are looking for, costs $18.00 and smells like leather to me. The only fault I can find is that there is no opening on the bottom for the POGO charger, whenever that is available, so you have to open the case to be able to use it. But for $18.00 and Amazon (who are excellent on returns if you don't like it) it's hard to go wrong.
I picked up one from Bear Motion on Amazon. It's much nicer than you'd think considering the price. They make a brown one too. Magnetic seal and auto-sleep/wake. After using it a few days, it has softened up a bit and feels even nicer.
Search 'Bear Motion Genuine Cowhide nexus 10' on Amazon. I don't have enough posts to put any links in yet.
Additionally, I bought a clear screen protector and carbon fiber 'style' protector for the sides and back from Skinomi. (Their website is cheaper than Amazon and used a promo code 'skinomi25' for 25% off.) I am not usually good at installing such things but it turned out pretty well.

I ordered a Bear Motion from Amazon. It arrived today but was a mistake. The one I received was clearly for another, smaller tablet. Anyway if the one for the Nexus 10 is the same material I wouldn't like it. If it is real leather it fooled me. It is very pleather-like. I now have my eye on much more expensive leather cases like the ones that people are selling on Etsy or Nor eve.

Can not post a link yet, will try later.
I would say the top of the speaker is covered about .5” or less. I haven't noticed any issues with sound. It is actually leather, though it's really stiff at first. The inside has some sort of soft/fuzzy cloth lining. I'm pretty happy with mine so far. I used a skinomi wrap/screen cover too for extra peace of mind.

I ordered one a few days ago. When it gets here I will let you know, but black is the only color they keep in stock. Everything else is made-to-order. I got a brown one, so it might be a few weeks.
One think to keep in mind is the Noreve site includes VAT in the prices. If you create an account, it will update the price to exclude VAT (as long as you live somewhere that doest do VAT). They also ship free. Still pretty expensive though. It was around $92 for mine.
One thing that is pretty cool is they link to third party reviews of their product and they are organized by device, case color, and language. At least one of them is a video review of a case for the Nexus 7. I didn't see any reviews for a Nexus 10 case, but the other reviews give you a pretty good idea of the quality.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 2
Update on the Bear Motion case, still a great case overall especially for what I paid, but I have noticed a flaw. The cutout for the POGO port has no stitching between the leather outer material and the interior lining. The adhesive has broken down a little and the lining is just a tiny bit loose around the opening. I intend to fix this myself with a needle, some black thread and about 5 minutes. This does have the potential to happen on the edges of the leather areas that do not have stitching though.
It should be noted the area with this issue flexes A LOT though. I'll post a picture later. It is very minor and I'd still buy this case again, but the manufacturer could easily prevent this with an extra couple inches of stitching.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using XDA Premium HD app
I received my Noreve case yesterday, so it took a little over three weeks to get to me (it is faster if you pick a black color). It is clearly much higher quality than the Bear Motion case I tried previously and better anything else I have seen on Amazon.
That does not mean I don't have any complaints. Mind you, these are pretty minor but they are complaints nonetheless.
Firstly, they have some sort of thin layer of open cell foam under the front cover. Yesterday when you pressed a bit on the front cover, you could feel and hear the foam compressing. Today, after having it in my messenger bag, that sounds seems to have worked itself out. I much prefer the feel of the back, which seems to be leather right on top of plastic. The inside front cover has some sort of rubber or gel padding and I like that too, but I am not sure the inside front cover is leather. I don't think it is. I guess they are going for a soft, cushy feel on the front.
Secondly, the clasp is slightly annoying. Someone asked how firm it was and I will say it is pretty firm. It definitely stays closed and I have no complaints about how well it functions, but the problem is the clasp on the front cover prevents the device from laying flat when the cover is folded back because the clasp points down.
The last complaint I have is the process of converting it to stand mode. You have to pop the tablet out of the bottom of the case to stand it up. This isn't an easy or quick task because the case grips the tablet pretty tight.
Despite my complaining you just read, I actually really do like the case. It is definitely quality made with quality materials.

Best "grippy" case???

I've got the Case-Mate Tough Case and even though it has the little bump pattern on it it's way too slippery... it's not rubbery feeling like it looks in the pictures...
And I've spent the better part of a week reading reviews and searching and can't find a good answer... So what's the best case for GRIP? Preferably it should give decent protection, not be too big (I don't want something like the huge Otterbox or Seidio Active) and have a lip on the front to protect the screen.. other than that I just want it to actually be GRIPPY!!! This phone is huge (it's awesome, but huge) and I really need some grippiness on the back so that I can one-hand it... I've looked at the Aegis, Ballistic, UAG and others but there are mixed reviews as to the actual feel of the outside. I want something that I can lay it in my hand at a slight angle and it won't just slide off... The Case-Mate really checks all the boxes except for the fact that it's just so dang slippery!!
So if you've personally got a case/used one that you find exhibits exceptional "grippability" then toss a dog a bone and hook me up..
Thanks everyone..
(and if you're in the market for a Case-Mate Tough case then I'll make ya a deal....although it's prolly not worth the shipping..lol)
Not sure but I use a Body Glove and its pretty grippy around the sides (not so on the flat back tho). I remember hearing of some adhesive kind of like Flygrip but cheaper kind of like tape/sticker which you could apply to all kinds of different things altho they made some specifically for phones and other devices to give you a better grip .
First off I'll take that case mate if you're in North America definitely not worth the shipping otherwise. Anyway I would assume any tpu case is as grippy as you're going to get but there's a protection trade-off obviously. You could try getting a flygrip or a sling grip. I have the fly on my otterbox/zl setup and it's definitely the best one handed solution I just feel super nerdy using it lol.

PM me if you really want the Case-Mate, I'll prolly keep it until I find something better though, it's slippery but at least it's protected when it falls.. And yeah, I had a Fly Grip, but I made the mistake of selling it with the phone I had at the time, plus I pocket this slab of a phone and I'm not sure I could handle the extra bump on the back...

I don't think anything comes close to a cheap gel rubber case for sheer grippines. There are any number of brands that can be had for 4 bucks shipped and I keep one around for when I want to sit and read manga.
They suck for sliding in and out of a tight pocket though. There is a point of being too grippy.

The kickstand is kind of hard to use but I hardly ever use it. Honestly that wasn't one of the reasons why I decided to buy the case. I had one of these cases on my BlackBerry Bold 9900 before I bought my GN2. I like that my phone feels solid in my hand, it's not too bulky, it's easy to put on/take off and it offers great protection. I already had one drop when my GN2 fell out of my jacket pocket from about three feet to asphalt and the only wrong was my case had a small scough mark. I like the case. This is just my opinion.

Yes, the case has a raised lip around the screen. The lip will keep the screen off a flat surface like a table; it is a significant lip. There are many pictures of this case in the thread where people are showing photos of their cases. Here is a youtube.com video that is pretty good.

i am looking for suggestions for a thin case that covers the body and have s-view window...
any suggestions ?
Spigen bounce for me. Its thin and form fitting around all the corners. Only problem is 2 color choices, black and grey (light black).
Costs more than a generic tpu case but it looks and feels better.
I just ordered a spigen neo hybrid car from Amazon for 24$ (10 bucks cheaper than oem) it looks sick. I'll let you know how I like it on Monday. I got the yellow lined one

So I got my case yesterday. It's looks okay, not as good as I was hoping (I got the yellow banded one)
The aux port is obstructed by the thickness of the case. I have to remove the case to use in my car.
The buttons move in place, and are audible when moving the phone.
It makes the phone even slippier
Would not buy again

Any idea what case to get that will protect the screen from getting damaged????
It's fake metal around the edge..aka plastic. I have the neo hybrid but it adds a Lotta bulk. I got naked
sEnt from thE noTe 3
Im using otterbox defender.

Using the UAG Scout.. not as bulky as otterbox but great protection. On sale for about $30 right now on Amazon.
sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (AT&T)
I could have told everyone about the spigen neo hybrid from my experience with their S4 case. It's one of the most overrated cases on the market, I'm not sure why people love it so much.
It looks and feels much cheaper in person than in pics and it makes the phone much bulkier and wider than it needs to be. And it's ridiculously overpriced for what it is.
Thumbs way down, I will never buy a spigen again.

If you want a fairly inexpensive no frills case, check out the one from Caseology. I got one for $3.50 on a deal from slickdeals and it's a great case with decent protection for the price. Even at the regular $8.50 price I would say it's well worth it.

Cool. What about screen protection??

I'm using an iSmooth screen protector. Application was the smoothest of any screen protector I've used so far - but I don't know how much of that is just practice applying them. The screen looks beautiful, with no rainbow patterns, and grease resistance is good (the Spigen ones I used before on my original note, I had a harder time of applying, and both Crystal and Oleophobic ones accumulated grease like nobody's business, particularly the supposedly oleophobic one, and the crystal had slight rainbow patterns visible in the right light).
As for cases, I'm not using one; I don't like the added bulk from them - I instead used Sugru to mold little bumpers directly on the corners of the phone. The corner around the S-Pen is kinda tricky, since there's what looks like a mic on the long side, and very little space between the pen and the speaker on the bottom. I used 3 little pieces of sugru around there. I also put a little bumper below the volume rocker, so I can quickly find the volume buttons when the phone is in my pocket. The sugru comes off cleanly (scrape it off with a fingernail). It lasts pretty well, but it will need to be redone at least once during a two year contract, more if the phone is handled roughly.
Thoughts on the S view case?
I think Im mostly concerned with the glass cracking than anything else...
Right now i am rocking the Incipio DualPro case and am waiting for a case from Cuzerlite to come in.
I got the Tudia Melody and it's perfect. 8 bucks to boot. It adds a nice grip to the phone and covers up the chrome lining on the front. You know the part that looks terrible even with a minor scuff? No screen protection except for the raised edges.

If you want protection and don't mind added bulk the Otterbox Defender is the only way to go. I personally have large hands and prefer the thickness and bulk the Defender adds. Plus you can throw it at a wall and it will not hurt the phone. The built in screen protector is hard plastic and will protect from most surface scratches. Of course direct impacts to the screen will almost always break it on large device like this and there is no case or protector that protects from direct impacts. So for screen protection you just have to take what you can get.
For me the Ottorbox has been the only way to go for my last five phones.
@Solarenemy68 while last year me would agree with you, I found another case company called trident with a similar design. There a bit cheaper too (price not quality!!) long story short, mine came today and it is amazing. Has a built in metal kickstand. (Had a bad experience with my last phone cuz of otterbox's customer service. So tried something new)

I had a trident case for my LG phone.. To be honest I did not like the finish or quality of the plastic. The plastic looked too military.
