I got this email back from HTC tech support recently, and I was curious if anyone else has seen anything like it. From the looks of it, there might be a chance of an official HTC video driver fix.
Hello,
Thank you for your inquiry
We here at HTC definitely understand your concern about being able to use your device to its full potential. In this case regarding the video rendering capabilities of your AT&T Tilt.
HTC has received similar feedback from other users and we are currently collecting examples to assist us in developing a fix. We request that you provide us with the following information about your device so that we can further investigate it. Please include:
• Your full name:
• Mobile number:
• IMEI:
• P/N:
• S/N:
• ROM Version:
• Details of issue:
Please provide a detailed account of the issue that you have experienced, which includes:
• Program used
• File size
• File format/encoding
• Resolution
• Video scaling (50%, 100%, full screen, etc.)
• Any other details that you believe to be relevant
We apologize if this issue has caused you any consternation. Please provide us with the above information at your earliest convenience.

What specific email address did you send it to?
I just used the tech support form on their website (http://member.htc.com/CustomerService/CS_Mail.aspx). However, that email came from [email protected] .
I emailed last night, and I also got the same response.
i just did now...apparently they realize people are getting pissed...check my thread i created to try and make one big thread devoted to submitting issues.
I also just received this same response from HTC. I am filling out my form now and returning it immediately.
Keep your fingers crossed, folks...perhaps this is the proverbial light at the end of our dark tunnel?
Could somebody create a web-based form we could fill out with our respective info to mail to the proper HTC representative? Would make the process easier for all of us and allow HTC to gather as much data as they can, quickly. And trust me... they will get info, and then some.
wow this is awesome news!
lol right about the time we started setting up plans for a class action lawsuit, this happens.
coincidence?

I was just starting to do this, but looking at the email from HTC again...there's a tracking number. Looks like we'll each have to email HTC about the issue, so we can each get our own unique tracking number.
The more, the merrier!
Someone should create a stickied thread with information about how to get in contact with HTC.

Here's where I went to supply HTC with my rant...
Email HTC
I just detailed my disappointment with the device and this evening, I got this new response that everyone seems to be getting now.
Thanx.
With all respect, while this is better than "we hope we answered your question in detail", it still seems like a stall.
As detailed by Chainfire and others, one doesn't simply forget to employ video drivers. This was a concious engineering decision to release these products with no custom drivers. This data gathering is more like, "what application is causing this problem?" when it's really a base system problem. We should all submit a pointer to a common benchmark program and it's results comparison to older products.
Hey guys, I just got his email back too. I need the AT&T Tilt ROM info though, because I'm using a different ROM. Can someone provide the details for the other roms so we can fill these forms out?
I just said AT&T shipped ROM. I am sure they will understand, but that number would be nice to have.
AT&T Tilt ROM Info
Here is the AT&T ROM information from my AT&T Tilt:
ROM version: 1.57.502.2
ROM date: 08/25/07
Radio version: 1.27.12.11
Protocoal version: 22.45.88.07H
Why is HTC asking for particular software causing the issue? I also wanna fill this form, but which software should i write is making this issue?

Windows Media Player. If you say you're using a 3rd party application, then they will say that's the problem. Or maybe even better, say you used multiple media players
/edit: of course you can also mention PIE, every game, etc.
This is the email I sent them. Does it sum up all the main problems?
"I purchased a brand new AT&T Tilt not too long ago. I had to exchange it 3 times due to poor video playback quality, an extremely unresponsive camera, the slowest scrolling on Pocket Internet Explorer I have ever encountered, and Bluetooth that sounds worse than any Bluetooth phone I have ever used. I now realize that the phone was shipped like this on purpose.
I have been a loyal customer since my first purchase: The Cingular 8125. I then purchased an AT&T 8525. Both of these phones were great. The Tilt is a great phone but it has some serious bugs. I will continue to support HTC, but please, why would you release a Phone that is claimed to be the most powerful phone on the market when it clearly is not?
Best regards, Eric"
So much for any support from iNavCorp! Here is the time line of events which began with the opening of a Service Request with iNavCorp on Thursday, August 28th.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Description of Problem - I have Windows Mobile 6.1 on my AT&T Tilt Pocket PC. iGuidance recognizes my internal GPS, obtains signal lock on satellites without a problem, but does not automatically refresh the map. I know for a fact that this is not an issue between iGuidance and the devices\'s \'built in\' GPS receiver because the GPS Info screen displays in \'real time\' (speed/coordinates etc. all match up with movement and speed of vehicle). It appears to only be an issue with the map display, which will no longer display movement in \'real-time\'. It will capture a given map location and speed, and hold them until the screen is manually refreshed. I am familiar with the \'panning mode\' for the map, and am certain that it is not the issue as I am not viewing the map in panning mode. I see no updates available, other than your recent v4.02 update, which I have applied. The problem still remains. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated, as I am sure there are many others with this identical issue. I have paid good money for navigation software that is at this time, completely useless. I look forward to your prompt response. Sincerely, Jeff Spencer~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~...followed by their reply, received late afternoon on Friday, August 29th
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Hi Jeff:
iGuidance worked fine w/ the built-in gps in HTC until recently after HTC released their new ROM w/ wm6.1. W/ this new ROM on your Tilt, iGuidance will now only work w/ either an external GPS, or w/ the built-in gps but by using the universal serial port driver provided through a 3rd party program such as GPSGate from www.franson.com instead. If you choose to go w/ the 2nd option, please note that the basic version would be sufficient.
Thank you and we apologize for the inconvenience.
Support Team
www.inavcorp.com~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~....and finally my reply to them
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The very reason that I picked up the Tilt was so that I would not be required to carry around additional components.
Thanks for what you ridiculously refer to as support.
To tell you the honest truth, I am now highly dissatisfied with iNavCorp and your product. I would expect at the very least (at least from a reputable company that stands behind it's product) a forthcoming patch, or work with the phone vendor to provide a patch, that would provide a no-cost universal serial port driver to correct the issue with your application. I now see how well you stand behind iGuidance and will invariably sell it off. Furthermore, as a Systems Administrator with [national company name omitted]., I will have no trouble whatsoever going out of my way to disparage your product and use this instance as an example as to just how poor the support is with your company and how inflexible your product is.
Furthermore, as a member of such forums as; GPS Passions, AT&T, and XDA Developers, I fully intend to post both my request for support and your reply, as stated below to each and every one of these forums and strongly urge others to do the same.
Honestly, did you see NVIDIA say "sorry" to Windows customers who had upgraded to Microsoft Vista? I don't think so. Stand behind and support your product, or face the backlash of the consumer.
Sincerely,
Jeff Spencer
Verona~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I have made good on my words to iNavCorp. I now urge anyone else as irritated (perhaps mentally disturbed) as I am, to make their voices heard by opening service requests on their own. Sure we can install GPSGate on our devices, or purchase an external GPS receiver, but what kind of response is it from a company to direct customers of their product to do so!! As stated in my reply to them, would NVIDIA have told it's customers "too bad", but you can purchase something else because you chose to upgrade to Windows Vista and now our graphics card won't work as advertised? HELL NO!!!
...okay, time for me to grab a beer and cool off.
Regards,
Spence
Here is an update - iNavCorp's reply to me
Hi Jeff:
Please note that the incompatibility is not between iGuidance and windows mobile OS, but only between iGuidance and the HTC driver. Further, HTC's new ROM was released much later after iGuidance v4 was released, and being a small company, HTC will not be able to work us on our request. Our programmers have been looking at this issue and if a solution may be determined, we will make sure it's included in iGuidance 2009. If not, we will continue to include the incompatiblity w/ HTC on our website as we do now to minimize their inconvenience.
Thank you.
My reply
iNavCorp,
Please excuse my error, it is indeed HTC and not AT&T's hardware, however HTC is far from the small company that you described as "being a small company, HTC will not be able to work us on our request".
HTC makes over 80% of mobile phones running the Windows OS. Please read up on HTC and educate your staff on this 'small company'.
http://www.htcamerica.net/about/default.html
I shall contact HTC and pursue this with them, and ask them why they are too small to work with correcting an issue with your product.
As for my chances of purchasing iGuidance 2009 if you can't support your current product? ...I'd say the chance of that is about as good as my chance at winning a write-in campaign for the 2008 presidential elections.
Thank you for providing me with another opportunity to post and ridicule your poor customer support.
My follow-up reply
I apologize for the terse nature of my prior message. I have just realized that I have mis-understood your comment about being a small company.
I believe the reply you had sent me (below) was worded in such a way that left the impression that you were referring to HTC as a small company.
I have later received a message indicating that you are working on identifying the incompatibility and provide a fix. I appreciate that, I really do, however please don't preach to me about not being able to be 100% compatible. iGuidance 4 was compatible with my AT&T Tilt, and now it is not. As a customer, I do not care, who made what driver change at what point in time. The fact of the matter, as your product, you are obligated to support it. Simply removing every device that changes from your list of compatible products will do little other than shrink your install base and alienate your paying customers.
I thank you for your attention to this issue, and look forward to an agreeable solution.
Jeff Spencer
I'm done for now. I am planning to contact HTC, to make them aware of the issue and ask if they can put one of their support team members in touch with iGuidance, but I've a 5 year old to put down for the night, followed shortly after by myself.
Cheers,
Spence
Thanks cyjeff, I had done that, but hadn't seen anything recent. I must have been too specific in my search. I've checked iNavCorp's site and the now have the issue listed as an incompatibility that they are working on.
**** Note: iGuidance is incompatible w/ the new ROM released by HTC which enabled the internal gps chip. iGuidance will continue to work with an external gps receiver while using PPC6800/Mogul, but in order for iGuidance to work w/ the internal gps, user will need to download/purchase Franson's GPSGate (express or standard version) via http://franson.com/gpsgate/
Funny iNavCorp appears to have been out-done by an enterprising developer posting in forums!
I've installed the cab and am off to do some testing. I have no doubt it will work. I am thankful that we've got a forum such as this, where people can assist each other. I'll have to donate or send a 'cookie' to this "Joe" guy!
Well, you can put them in the same boat as the guys from ATT, HTC, Microsoft and a multitude of other software providers that get "help" from the volunteers here.
Good luck getting any kind of real support from iNav. After spending a couple hundred on what they call "updates" which are minor bug fixes, I will never spend a dime on this company. When I purchased version 3, WM6 came out which was incompatible with this version. Instead of releasing a fix, iNav released version 4 which is no different than version 3 (slightly newer map), and charged $80. When I initially had problems with version 4 getting to work, I always got generic email telling me that it was either my phone or the OS i was running.
I am not even sure how many programmers they have. It might be a one person venture under the disguise of "Corp". If they are such a small company, they should not call themselves a Corporation.
actually, v4 is a big step forward w/ TTS. But with a big step backward by taking out the option to cut map.
BTW, where do you get 4.02 update and what's being update/fix in this release?
Did you guys also notice the single post in that thread about the DNS server change that also corrects the problem. There is another thread out there about this as well. If you change your DNS servers to Open DNS, vs using the default that ATT is providing, for whatever reason it fixes the issues w/ iGuidance. I'm still running 3.0.1 but planning on upgrading to 2009 when it's available.
Anyway, just thought I'd mention that, it's the route I went rather than the other options...using Open DNS isn't such a bad idea anyway.
Chris
Thanks This worked great for me. I will have to rethink my next iguidance purchase. I think they are going to force the ole' extra SD Card like garmin does.
AT&T plus iGuidance = Headache
I agree so much with everything you said. I spent $69.00 on my program about 3 years ago and I'll never give them another dime. Thank God for Joe and if I had it to do over again, I'd buy CO-PILOT LIVE. What a nice looking program that is.
I am trying to get Touchdown pro to sync with my work exchange server but I keep getting caught in a endless loop of sync. When I view the logs I keep seeing "Exception: cannot get IMEI number". Has anyone else had this problem with Touchdown Pro on their g tablet? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide me on this one.
This exact same thing is happening to me, wow. Just Googled it and you showed up.
Looking for a fix... the app looks like it'd be so sick for the G-Tab...
So since this is a WIFI only tablet with no radio it seems to me the device simply cannot have an IMEI.
So maybe we could spoof it somehow? I'm looking for an app.
It seems really weird to me that Touchdown needs an IMEI to sync. Especially when the native Exchange support for Android works fine on this tablet. Ugh.
Yeah I am lost on this one. Touchdown Pro says it will work on ALL android tablets so I have to think there is a work around here.
Well especially since they went out of their way to make a "tablet mode"... grrr. So frustrated, I really want it to work.
Either app-side or spoofing IMEI.
I emailed support, but I suspect it wont get fixed till the next release. I would be interested in a work around. I do have the stock email working fine but touchdown wont work.
I need my subfolders....
Plus it looks great in tablet mode.
Do we even know for sure if the g tablet has an IMEI number? If so, where do we find out what it is?
Afaik a device has no use for an IMEI without a cellular radio.
Then the question becomes, is there a way to turn off or disable the part of Touchdown Pro that looks for the IMEI? A few people have said that they have been able to get Touchdown Pro working but yet no one is saying how they have been able to do so.
And clearly this is a hurdle they would have had to get past... grr. Stupid devs for implementing this "feature."
I have been chatting with tech support, they want a log file after the connect fails but I am unsure where to find that in Touchdown. Any ideas where to look?
Hi Richard,
I was able to look into this today for you and found that the Wifi only devices do not connect for the very reason you suggested, there is no IMEI number. Our developer will be in sometime in the next week or so. We will be conferring with him about this but in the meantime, you are correct. There is no way for us to connect on a Wifi only tablet at this time. Would you mind checking in with us now and then to check the progress?
Kerri
I love it.... their developer "will be in within the next week or so". So I am guessing it will be at least a month until we have a fix for this from Touchdown Pro. I guess we are back to option #2 figure out a way to spoof or bypass the line of code that looks for the IMEI number. By chance would anyone have any suggestions on how to do this?
As a side note, I guess it is safe to assume that all of the folks claiming to have Touchdown Pro working on their G Tablet are just full of shi.....
Or have run something that pushed a 'fake IMEI' to one of their sqlite DBs... so would be nice if we could figure out which and format of a valid IMEI...
EDIT: turns out the IMSI is in DB... the IMEI is read via RIL from Hardware... thus not something that can be changed in a typical way...
They asked me to email them in the beginning of the week for an update. I think they are concerned about it not working. Wifi only tablets are not going away & its in their best interest to make it work.
Well, it looks like we should start looking at another solution. I guess if we dont have a 3G tablet, it wont work.
Hi Richard,
I talked to the developer and this issue is not on our roadmap in the near future. They may be looking into it sometime in the next quarter, but at this point, it is not something they are actively working on. I’m very sorry.
We were planning on purchasing 100+ licenses for our sales group's wifi-only tablets. I'll be sure to let them know they lost a large order...
I just emailed the following to NitroDesk support:
**********
Dear Support,
It is my understanding that your product does not support WiFi-only Android tablets. I am a member of XDA Developers, a large community of mobile device developers. I read a recent posting on the XDA forum where a member of your support team stated that adding support for WiFi-only tablets is “not on the roadmap” and will not be supported in the near future.
This is a huge mistake on your part.
As the Vice President and Information Technology Manager of a large community Bank, I am responsible for the procurement and implementation of all technology. We recently deployed over 100 WiFi-only Android tablets to our Board of Directors, sales force, and lending group. I have always been a fan of TouchDown, but your apparent disregard of an obvious flaw in your software has left me with no choice but to abandon your product. I was planning on purchasing 100+ licenses of TouchDown for our tablets, but since your product is completely broken I will instead purchase 100+ copies of DataViz’s RoadSync application. RoadSync not only works on WiFi-only tablets, but is also half the price of TouchDown.
I wish your company the best of luck as you lose yet another large customer of your product due to your misguided management and development teams.
**********
I got a fast response back from NitroDesk support. Richard, maybe you can contact Goutham and let him know who gave you the inaccurate information???
**********
That is not true anymore, things have changed perhaps since that posting, our latest beta is now designed to work even without an IMEI number (lack of which was basically the issue with Wifi only devices).
While it may take a while for us to push that to the market, it is definitely something we are not walking away from.
the beta is available here : http://groups.google.com/group/nitrodesk/web/installing-the-latest-beta
While I am not sure I may not be able to get you to try touchdown over RoadSync, i do appreciate you making the effort of checking back with us.
We are working on a lot of new exciting MDM/security/policy related work at this time, that the ETA for this hitting the market itself may be a couple months.
Thanks and regards
Hi Guys,
As a UK based Android game developer we have recently had a few games released on China Mobile and 189 stores via a publisher/distributor who have a presence in-country.
For our future titles I'm currently investigating the idea of submitting to these Chinese app stores ourselves in order to hopefully bypass the ‘middle man’ so to speak.
Lots of links to the app stores 'developer centres' exist, however it seems I've failed at the first hurdle. During the registration process I am being asked for our Chinese business license number and Tax registration number. I cannot seem to bypass this section or submit our UK business details in order to continue. Either that or I'm being asked to input a Chinese mobile number in order to receive a verification code.
Just wondering if anyone else had any experience of self submitting to these China stores? It seems as though anyone outside of China is not allowed to submit apps? Is that correct?
Thanks in advance
Mark.
Hi Tom, Thanks for the link.
We went with a publisher called Thumbstar, who are based in the UK, who work with a company from China called Viva Red. Currently they are getting us on the state owned stores like China Mobile and China Telecom.
I have heard of Tecent. Aren't they a massive 3rd party app store? So did you apply through their website or did they send you an invite to put your games on their store? Have you had much sales success with them?
M.
I know Thumbstar, they have quite a lot of games for Android in their portfolio. How was your experience with them?
As for Tencent, yes, their are a massive company (games, web, WeChat, etc.). They got in touch with us regarding one of the games we've published. We also had two titles published in China with The9 but it was quite a long time ago and I'm not sure if they are still in the business.
Will send you a PM Tom.
I can give u really advice because i am from china .here in china there are too many store
but ,you can choose some big store just like 360.cn ,91,wandoujia,and myapp.com .you can contact me by [email protected] .i may give u some help .
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
From my own experience it is easy to submit to Wandoujia (Peas Pod), takes about a week for them to approve everything, you need to prove you're the copyright holder of the the app (scan of company certificate) when you submit along with a signed "owner" form from their submission process. Registering is pretty straight forward thanks to Google Translate (for best results install the Google Translate addon into your web browser and/or use Chrome):
http://pmt.wandoujia.com/apps/dev/home
I've only submitted a free app, not sure but suspect things are more complicated with paid apps.
Other Chinese app stores are harder to submit to but usually only because of translation issues or also having to install their apps first and create an account - the apps are always Chinese too.
My app is on many stores in China, but I never uploaded it, they are just distributing a cracked version... :-/
What about Xiaomi? http://app.xiaomi.com/
$10 publish fee for each China app store
I check the website called www.app4chinese.com and they provide service to publish app in China. $10 per store and they list 19 China app stores on their website.
Hi Maineyak,
We actually help developers to promote globally their apps in different stores (not just gPlay) and increase efficiently the number of downloads.
Send us a PM if you need more information or check our website
I think its a fake...
Nobody uses cwm in p7.
On xda i cant find anything.
It's fake on obviously add new says xda tutorial and that's nothing in this section on it or the other areas for our p7.
As above no cwm on p7 twm is what is used it seems, also he doesn't state model number remember there all imcompatible the roms as all the l10 people are unhappy that's no Dev emui 3 ROM or that device.
The kernel has only been recently released publicly for our devices and you will see any custom rom on this forum is a early test version.
The screenshot is edited KOT49H is the 4.4.2 build number lollipop uses something else and is a white background I'm running it on my nexus 10 right now.
Also emui 3.0 on 4.4 isn't out till next week.
I do hope huawei release a v5 lolipop rom but when or if they will announce it I don't know.
Allot of companies like to sell new devices than update them to the new versions.
These scams have been going round for years for many things not just android Roms where they take something and sightly edit it and put links behind a survey host.
If you need anymore proof it's a scam it has URL stuff to rewrite the article as you can see here on my attempt at a funny test.
Also since yesterday when I sent a message inquiring about things the person quietly changed the screenshots and stuff from a black to white background based on my inquiry to fool people even more.
Just found out the comments are in an iframe from a totally different site as well as other things by looking at the site code.
Here is the WHOIS details of the site with contact details of the owner if anyone is wondering.
Going a google I found other sites linked to the email related to android etc and a forex scam thing.
Also a registered street address in indonesia connected to the accounts.
I have compiled some info and submitted it to google the best I can as there's no official way to submit this stuff.
So for now this thread can die until Huawei announces a proper lollipop version.
Android 5 and down want to downgrade what can i do ?
