hi!
today i wanted to download and flash one stock rom from lg.
i downloaded kdz and extracted with automatic rom converter and also injected cwm with it.
i have 2 files. bin and fls....
i flashed stock roms one million times
but today i shocked!
i saw i am choosing
cp bin ----- ap file
ap bin ----- cp file
and i understand i am choosing like this from the begining...
and i looked into the guide
it says cp to cp, ap to ap...
but i succesfully flashing rom. and it works...
yes strange is it:
after full wipe, full format, full manuel format, boypes format script etc etc
i tried it again and again and again
if i choose ap to ap, cp to cp phone goes brick.
ap to cp, cp to ap no problem.
lol. what is this??
Maybe you got the files with wrong name?
Size of AP its almost 400mb.
Size of CP its almost 8mb.
no, they are true
it is very strange
rom converter renamed them. and file sizes like your said.
yes, somehow sometimes it happens...
there are several posts on XDA and somewhere..
ap to ap and cp to cp in somewhere
ap to cp and cp to ap in somewhere
But no brick problems heard anywhere..with this..

Here's what I got so far:
K12K (256/500hz) Speedmod Kernal (zImage file)
cygwin and 7-zip installed
Un-tarred JL2 rom
SU/Superuser.akp/Busybox install files
Magic-iso
I keep having to reflash, re-root then apply the speedmod when I'm done which is becoming a pain in the butt as I'm testing out every rom on the site I always wanna start from basic scratch
I'd like to:
use magic iso and combine all my root files into into the factoryfs.rfs
use the zImage from Speedmod so I have CWM included
Is this possible?
I know where to put the zImage and howto combine them together with tar in cygwin:
tar -H ustar -c image_1 [image_2 ...] > your_odin_package.tar
md5sum -t your_odin_package.tar >> your_odin_package.tar
Then I can use that in odin. I was looking around, and aside from the "howto cook your own from" I don't see where I can put the "root" file to install busybox allowing the rest of it.
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to do this?
Thanks.
Found where to change the updater-script, had to open cache.rfs in magic iso, extract sec_csc.zip, open that with 7-zip, edit the updater script for su/busybox and calling busybox install
Flashing now, just in case I hope it dont brick lol

I have read several tutorials and some say that I should only use pit file when there are 3 files pda, modem and csc. Others I have seen isntructions to use the pit file when there is 1 pda file.
Which one is it? Are 3 files and repartition better than 1 file and no repartition?

You select repartition when you want to flash the stock RFS system or when you have formatted your file system to EXT2/EXT4/JFS etc using custom ROM or lag fix.
You dont need to check repartition every time you flash the phone.
One PDA file is usually a cooked file which contains MODEM as well as Multi CSC. So you have to see yourself what you are flashing. Usually, leaked firmwares have all 3 files seperate that you flash but custom ROMS combine all of them into 1 PDA file.
Yes guys,
The question is obvious. Normally we flash 4-file Roms with pit file.
But, what would happen if I flash 1-fle Rom (namely XXLSZ) via PC Odin with a pit file and Re-Partition TICKED?
TIA
Being a senior member you should know better. You might be new here but rules are rules. REPORTED
Guys, Sorry for opening the Thread in wrong section. I was subscribed to Android Development Thread and forgot to switch to Q&A thread.
Aaaaah I am so sorry for disturbing people.
Though, I would appreciate if someone could answer my question.

If you select pit file (selecting pit itself will check repartition box) then it will make repartition, regardless of how many other files you have selected.
Basically when you flash single stock tar file, that already contains full package (system.img, kernel, modem, CSC )
while in case of leaked ROM it having separate files for Modem and CSC and you have to select along with PDA.
Even you select pit files without selecting other any files(for PDA/Modem/CSC), it will make repartition.

Will it work at the end?
I mean, if I flash a Rom along with a pit file, it won't boot if is no boatloader in it, so to speak.
So, what is the situation for XXLSZ? Would it boot?
But you basically say that if 1-file contains every necessary sub-files, then there will be no problem.
Pit will make partition, and then files will be flashed.
Basically there is no meaning to use pit file if there is no messing with partition.

Now regarding particular LSZ, as this file having bootloader, so using with pit it will boot
another situation
Your ROM file doesn't have bootloader and you are using pit
still it will boot unless you have used custom pit and that mess up with existing.
Phone only won't boot if you have used wrong pit
Pit file just define partition table, it won't format device, so if your existing partition table is same with one you are using in pit, it won't make any difference.

Hmm.. I did not know that. I knew that whatever happens, if I use pit file while flashing, it will format every partition, including /sdcard nad delete even photos, etc.
I did not know that nothing will happen if I use the pit file which has the same partition table.
Thanks again doctor.
I used these files to correct multiple "E:Can't mount /" errors in the SGH-T759 recovery system. I included screen shots of the errors and of the files loaded in Heimdall. Can't guarantee the .tar works in odin but once extracted they do work in Heimdall. Hope this helps someone. :fingers-crossed:

hi? can u help?
Hi
I was wondering about CSC files. they can install apps (normally carrier bloatware) on factory reset, change home screen, and so on, so Can I create my own CSC file (with apps I use), so I would have a quick backup off everything, incase I do something wrong and I need to factory reset?
Thanks for Anwsering and Best Regards
PS: if this is not in the right section please move it to the right one
What you mean by csc file, The cscfeature.xml ?

the file that has all the bloatware and home screen layout
there are a lot of files in CSC_OMC_OVF_G975FOVF1ASC6_CL15627457_QB22700202_REV01_user_low_ship.tar.md5
cache.img.lz4
omr.img.lz4
product.img.lz4
not sure how to even open them: I tried
lz4.exe -d cache.img.lz4 cache.img
lz4.exe -d omr.img.lz4 omr.img
lz4.exe -d product.img.lz4 product.img
it produced .img files but I don't know how to open them
tried 7zip and WinImage but both refuse to even open them
You can view and copy to regular storage or ext sd card without phone rooted using
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.solidexplorer2
(Enable root view in app settings)
/system/product/omc/
For those that don't know, search for omc decoder in order to view all the files.
As far as getting into the files from downloaded firmware, i will try with superr's kitchen. It temporarily extracts images during the initial process. I'll give it a try in a few minutes.
