what ext3 size are you using? are u using sd-booster..if so what is the value, if not...why not? spare parts?
v12 don't exist lol....
only roms u can use data2ext on is mine for now.
as for the other roms that use data2whatever there all apps2sd roms, and have other nasty errors hidden away...
line is basically whatsapp on steroids lol. all have there problems. my whatsapp is laggy, even on my sons desire c its laggy....its the app.
as for line...only just seen what it actually is, if you keep having issues with the apps contact the app dev and send in logcats of it.
app errors in loading isn't the roms fault, its possible that the app not being fully compatible with this phone..
do you use a taskkiller to end apps or you just press homescreen, i ask this as by not killing the app it still runs. when you kill it you will release more memory for other apps to use and thus increasing speed and usability.

lol i think i not using line or whatsapp is better way ,so in concluding task killer not good for this case?
Taskkiller will help out. Average memory I have free is 200 mbs and I get no force close at all, lag is minimal using methods given.
You didn't state what size ext3 you have. This will have a major effect on apps and running

strange the system can't access the external sd card after this mod
using file explorer, I can still access it and yet the storage mark the sd card as unavailable. When I pull it out and insert it again, the phone prepare for sd card and no error. Then when I plug in as usb storage, it only show the external sd card and no internal. What is happening? And i tried using games that use the sd card file and it couldn't detect it.

so please just copy them to the internal sdcard and they will work again without redownloading extra data
okay thx though I wish I've read your message 2 minutes earlier hahahaha, I'm in a process of restoring a cyanogen back up. Didn't matter much, I was in need to test the back up feature anyway. Last time the restore back up leave me in a boot screen forever so now I'm testing it again. I'll flash your tweaks later again.
Hi, I'm making a dualboot mod for our poor GT540 So we can change ROM with one click.
Now I'm able to boot from second os from sdcard. Now i have to optimize some things(e.g. installing rom from zip, installing update zips from recovery, ...)
Installing;
1) Creating Partitions;
Open up a partition manager then delete all of your partitions then create new 3. First partition will be fat for sdcard data music, picture etc. Second will be ext2 and will be used for /data partition and third one is for /system partition.
Video tutorial:
2) Download ROM from below(more roms will be added soon!) and place it in your sdcard.
3) Install it like usual rom installing...
ROMS:
Utopia v1:http://d-h.st/bw2
SDSL v2:http://d-h.st/XjS
Wupload deleted the other roms I'll try to upload all of them...
ZIPs:
Gapps:http://d-h.st/HKV
LG_Ime_Keyboard:http://www.wupload.com/file/2629890007/lg_imedual.zip
Credits:
Thank you nutterbg!(For giving me the idea of mounting.)
Thank you Pcfighter!(For making that great rom!)
Thank you Mikegapinski!
Thank you DevSwift!
Thank you Miroslav!
P.S:I think second OS is booting faster but im not sure. I will test it later.
It would seem it fails to provide a shell. Maybe searches for it in the new location, and it's not there? Make sure it's accessible in both places. Otherwise maybe try to mount system so it can use the shell, and then try to remount the new one from sdcard. I don't know...
I moved my all system files to the new partition so there is /system/bin/sh. I'm gonna try the mount the original then the sdcard one now.
Edit:
I did and now i get "- exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: I/O error (5) -" what should cause to this?
Edit 2:
Now i can get shell. But not going then. I have to work out...
Ok i made it Now i can boot as normal. I can use it normal. But installing script must be changed. When installing a rom with recovery you must change a line. So this is not ready to use
If Windows mobile can dualboot android using Haret, I believe Android can do something similiar Keep up the good work guy
This looks great man, but this will be able to make a dual boot with a windows rom?

BTW Does the phone feel slugish and laggy when using /data monuted on sd card or its normal?
@tminh, @ptbmr Now it only support android if someone make a kernel, system for winmo i will support too
@darko94 No its not laggy and i guess it boots faster with sdcard partitions but im not sure i have to try with same apps same things...
Sound cool, can not wait to you relise this mod.

I did a test second os from sdcard booted in 1 minute the normal rom booted in 1:30 minutes. So the second os is a little bit faster Now im gonna try to make it boot with pressing vol up key to boot second os I hope i can do that

I declare the ROM to be OPEN. Hackfest! Do whatever you like on it.

Since the repack of V30I doesnt wanna work, I at least provide you the files of /system and /system2. /system2 folders need to be moved to /system/vendor (at least /etc, /lib and /firmware). I additionally moved the /bin and /app folder to its' corresponding folder in /system.

The only thing you can't do is acess your sd card. You can only do that in recovery, it isn't a big problem.
Background
after editing the read_ahead_kb value of the script to speed it up. in the. init.d folder in the phone . it came to my head why dont i do that for the rest of the folders in that directory . I checked the destination folder and edit the other values , to increase their read_ahead_kb speed of the other folder thus the system .
i got there (sys/devices/virtua/bdi/)
there are other folders , the original value was 128 kb , i increased it 512 kb the phone was stable for a day and the games look better and the phone felt smoother . next day i increased it to 768 kb , the phone was even smoother , i took the final step to bump it to 1024 kb . holy cow . i could tell the difference
just an example , playing agent dash , i couldnt play music at the same time, but with the value of 1024 kb read ahead speed , now i can play it and listen to my progressive techno . the improvement is not just in game but in apps (opening and closing) .:good:
i meant you have to see it to believe
there is only one hiccup here . the rom the phone has is energy rom , is a port , but hopefully most of the roms have the same path .
* that is why is best to just attach the script and others can just change the path to it . it will be easier ( dont be lazy and check you file location)
* the first link is the direct script ,
* i dont know why the values dont stick from folders sys/devices/bdi/virtual/179:64 to sys/devices/bdi/virtual/254:4
* folder sys/devices/virtual/bdi/179:0 is the sd card value . usually roms have a init.d script for it. i have a sd card class 10 and 4096 kb works best form me, but 2048 kb and 3072 kb are good values too
* KERNEL HAS TO SUPPORT INIT,D SCRIPTS *** REQUIREMENT***
the script is really simple , dont be that hard .
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
- download to sd card
- using a file explorer ( root explorer . es explorer , there are a few in the android market )
- copy and paste the scritp tp the init.d folder ( mount system first)
- change permissions to RWX R-X R-X
- unmount system press home reboot
- reboot . enjoy , let me know
*** New** instructions
> download .zip to the root to the sd card
>boot into recovery flash script
> optional wipe both caches [dalvik and cache] . fallowing boot should take like 5 minutes ( clearing caches , helps to have cleaner mods , trust me i know
> check directory to make sure values stick , make sure have same directory , actually do this before , flashing lol

179:0 is for the sd card ,
Most roms have identical paths .

No problem,
That is the same way I learn. Trial and error.
Which script did you try , do you mind giving me the directory of your ROM, of the bdi folder to make one for that ROM.

Firstly what is swap, you should know about it before
you go further
What is Swap:-
Swap space in Linux is used when the amount of
physical memory (RAM) is full. If the system needs
more memory resources and the RAM is full, inactive
pages in memory are moved to the swap space. While
swap space can help machines with a small amount of
RAM, it should not be considered a replacement for
more RAM. Swap space is located on hard drives, which
have a slower access time than physical memory.
Swap space can be a dedicated swap partition, a swap
file, or a combination of swap partitions and swap files.
Normally the swap space should be equal to the Actual
physical Ram

Requirements for this process:-
* Kernel which supports swap
* Rooted android device
* Busybox (atleast v1.18)
* Terminal Emulator

Click to collapse
Steps to enable swap:-
1. Open any file explorer(I prefer root explorer) and create a folder and name
it swap
2. Browse to that folder and create a file named swap
3. Open terminal Emulator and type the code busybox
mkswap /sdcard/swap/swap xxxxxx
(xxxxxx is the amount in KB, eg:- 383456 = 378MB),
and this process will take time.)
4. Now we will activate the swap and to activate it type
in terminal busybox swapon /sdcard/swap/swap
5. The last step is to turn on swappiness and to do it
we write echo 100 > /proc/sys/vm/swappiness in
terminal
And now you are done to check the working of swap
type busybox free in terminal emulator.
NOTE-Last two steps are needed to be done after every boot
so it is better to make a script which can be started
from script manager......... and here is a script ready for this Swap.sh
