Hey can someone help me with this? My nexus is rooted and on stock 2.3.6. I tried downloading the cm7 r2 hboot for the runnymede sense rom but for some reason in recovery it will not flash that hboot. Im using clockworkmod recovery. What step am i missing to flash this hboot file so i can flash this rom? I downloaded the hboot file off of alpharev site. I even renamed the file PB99IMG.zip and also update.zip and both did not work in hboot mode and recovery. Any help would be great.

Have you installed Blackrose? You have to install Blackrose before you can flash an hboot.

How do I flash black rose? I'm actually new to the nexus one. I've had a few android phones but not this one. I actually got the sense rom to flash but it got stuck on the X screen with the unlock icon and it won't go past it? Is that because I don't have black rose? I believe I have the stock hboot.
are you trying this runny rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1580873
if so, then you dont need blackrose. stock hboot is fine. but ext partition of 1GB is compulsory. before flashing the rom, did you flash alignment_cool provided in the first post ? better use 4ext recovery

I did flash the alignment cool zip file first and then the rom. I used amon ra recovery and clockwork mod. Both left me stuck. When I flashed the rom it took me to aroma installer and I tried stock hboot and used the regular method and custom method and neither worked. What am doing wrong? And about how long should I be stuck at the boot
Screen before it loads into the sense rom?
But did you partition to one GB or more? If I remember correctly alignment_cool is to change the partition from ext3 to ext4 (required). Sense ROMs take up a lot of room. The partition is for system and everything else (apps 'n stuff).
Or you could use EXT4 Recovery Touch, save yourself some trouble, partition your SD card to ext4 via the tools (highly recommended) and flash your ROM there.

If you have been using a EXT4 ROM and you want to restore a stock ROM that only has EXT3 support, it's a bit of a faff. Introducing BackToEXT3.
This ClockworkMod update zip simply converts your /system, /data and cache partitions back to EXT3. It wipes them both in the process, so you need to have an existing backup / ROM to restore to.

After installing FR12 custom ROM Vanilla Edition on my phone, I wanted to get back to stock so I installed - back to ext3 zip. Then when I tried to restore the stoc ROM, I got the error MD5 mismatch!
I want to specify that I tried a custom ROM before but with ext3, and I had no problem to return to the stock ROM.
Tool worked fine for me. fr10 back to stock.
Md5 error probably means ur nandroidbackup is damaged

Thanks MaBlo, I usually search everything on Google, but this time I forgot, lol.
Sorry guys, please correct me if I'm wrong as I'm trying to get it back to stock.
1. Copy img to ext SD card
2. Reboot into recovery e.g. CWM
3. update BackTOEXT3 image with CWM
4. run nandroid to restore stock image
Am I right? I keep getting stuck at the LG screen

What "img" are you talking about? Nandroid restore is for restoring a previous backup, not for flashing a rom image.
If you want to flash a stock rom image, you need to use smartflash or nvflash, unless you want to flash the 0622 one, which someone made available in CWM format. (Not completely stock though, as it is prerooted etc.)

please tell me is there any flashable which can convert to ext4?
It will be useful to convert from ext3 to ext4 before restoring a nandroid backup which was taken earlier from EXT4.

You don't need that. CWM automatically converts from ext3 to ext4 (if the backup is ext4), but not the other way round.
Hi, I'm having trouble getting dbasabe's sense rom port to work on my n1. I always get stuck on the X logo and the phone gets warm so I have to pull the battery.
I searched the entire post but it nothing helped me.
I repeated these steps 3 times:
btw I use Amon Ra recovery...
1. System/Cache/Dalvik Wipe 5 times
2. Partition SD: 0mb Swap/1024mb ext/remainder FAT
3. Ext2 to Ext3
4. Ext3 to Ext4
5. flashed the format_system.zip that wipes system for you
6. Repeated Step 1 just in case..
7. Flashed Alignment_Cool.zip
8. Flashed the rom
9. Rebooted system
..and still I get stuck on X screen.
My question is, has anyone successfully flashed this rom using amon ra? Is it absolutely necessary to use blackrose hboot in order to install this rom?
I am using:
Amon Ra v1.9.0
HBoot 0.35.0017
Radio 5.12.00.08
Any help would be appreciated thanks.
Did you read OP page?
I haven't run this for awhile, so not up on latest posts--
But sounds like you need the 4ext touch recovery that is linked on OP
And your Amon_Ra is old, try this
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/28338566/AmonRa 2.2.1.mht
But, think you need the touch recovery
Yeh you must use 4ext touch recovery . Then in wipe & format menu choose wipe all exept sd card

Nope you dont need no touch i installed with amonra and have no problems.
PS: I clicked the thanks button by mistake.
Then then OP needs to update Amon_Ra from my link or has done something else wrong or out of sequence. No reply--maybe he has it sorted--
Hey guys,
My situation is that I'm trying to get a working ICS rom working, but I get a black screen on bootup for both Virtuous Quattro and Ice Cold Sandwich. I've also tried different kernels, but the same thing happens.
What I did:
Reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery
Backup
Wipe data
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache
Install zip from sd card > Choose zip > Picked my zip here > Confirm
The actual rom installs with no errors or anything... then when I try to reboot, I get the white screen with "htc" in green font, as normal, then it just goes to a black screen. The backlight is on, but the screen is black... softkeys are not lit, either. Like I said, I've reflashed multiple times to no avail. I've seen videos of people on YouTube flashing on IncS, but their devices go straight to the bootloader animation after the htc logo screen.
Anybody encountered this before or know how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Your phone must be rooted before this and also verify your downloaded zip file with checksum to make sure about proper download.
I actually encountered the same problem a few days ago. I realized it was because I flashed an incompatible Kernal zip file. So I reflashed the ROM and rebooted without flashing any kernals and it worked for me.
I have rooted, and have superuser access. I have also redownloaded and checked the md5 sums. I'll try to download it again and test...
I just redownloaded and rechecked the md5 sums, and I still get the black screen. I've also tried no kernel, and tiamat and still nothing :S

have u converted you filesystem to ext4?
btw, what rom was previous? stock one or custom?
and i recommend you to use 4ext recovery instead of CWM
I have to use CWM for now, since I don't have access to fastboot right now (i'll download it later), but how do I check if it's ext4 or not in CWM? And if its not, do you know how to make it ext4?
And i'm using CM7, not stock

if u have CM7 ur filesystem already converted )))
i think the reason of crashes on boots is old version of recovery. try to upgrade urs CWM or install the latest 4ext recovery
It's very easy to change CWm to 4ext: go to http://4ext.net/ and download 4EXT Recovery Updater, install it. With its help u will instal 4ext

i'm afraid s-on is the reason of ur problems
I completely agree s-on does matter always.
I have the same problem on Quattro.
If you are s on you have to flash via fastboot the boot.img inside the Rom.zip from your wanted rom after flashing Rom via recovery.
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using xda premium
Indeed sniper is correct. However what I would do, get a rom working then look into becoming s-off. Its so much easier to mod your phone after.
Sent from my Incredible S using xda premium
Okay, thanks guys! I'll try it out later and see how it goes by flashing boot.img using fastboot.
Thanks guys, it works!
For people who come here looking for answers, basically just open the new ICS rom zip, extract boot.img, cd to that folder in cmd, and type:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
and it should now boot properly.

Hi,
I want to flash the Jelly-Bean-Rom of reider on my Nexus one. I am currently running on CM7.2 and have already installed 4ext-Recovery and Blackrose.
Afaikt are there problems with 4ext at the moment when you want to flash custom hboots on your NexusOne. So my question is, is it possible to just install CWM or RA-Recovery on my CM7.2 and flash the needed hboot afterwards? Do I need a special recovery?
I read many manuals how to flash a custom hboot etc. but I wasn't able to find a definitive answer, if I have to install Recovery again after upgrading hboot or not. _And_ if I need a special recovery.
Help is appreciated!

You don't need any special recovery if you flash the partition scheme via fastboot. How this works is explained in the Evervolv Jellybean Thread. Your recovery should be untouched by this procedure. Alternatively you can switch your recovery to use flashable zips from this thread, but it is not necessary.
Run or phone at normal mode. Connect USB to or phone open black rose there are options u can choose pick the one that resizes or hbot.

if you are flashing hboot via fastboot/blackrose then u dont need to change recovery.
if u want to change hboot via recovery(4ext) then follow this post and see if it helps. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30271020&postcount=124
and yes you can change to either cwm or amon n flash those hboots. cos it sometimes doesnt work wid 4ext...

so u hv blackrose installed. wats ur current hboot partition?
ur problem may be cos of the very low /cache size. cm roms handle cache in a different way than other roms. so that might be the reason for cm roms workin and other roms not workin

OK, so did you apply a .nb0 file after installing blackrose? i.e, did you try flashing a ROM after installing blackrose (as in, no HBOOT flashed after installation) ?
Or, if you are not planning on flashing a JB or ICS ROM or any ROM that uses custom HBOOT, then you can uninstall BlackRose
But I think you need custom HBOOTs for the latest MeDroid and MIUI.us ROMs. Even Oxygen1Mod HBOOTs are different.
Your stock HBOOT will not support these ROMs.
Checkout HBOOT sizes here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1637166&highlight=hboot
This is funny cause I get a bootloop when only I flash CyanogenMod ROMs, and I still can't get it fixed. I don't know why, but anytime I use any of the Cyanogen 10.1 ROMs, I get nothing, but boot loops. I did a full wipe, and still nothing, I can install AOKP perfectly fine though. Any help would be appreciated. I'm using Clockwork 5.0 to flash.
Do you have correct HBOOT flashed?
For CM 10.1, use 260/10/166
