Hi, I have read through every search thread on the galaxy mini in this forum but no luck finding something similar
I get odd disconnections from WIFI. If I tell the WIFI to never sleep, the connection is solid and never drops.
However if I have it on the default "WIFI sleep when screen turns off" (for better battery life) then randomly when I bring the phone out of sleep to use it, the WIFI does not reconnect. (The WIFI at this stage is not "scanning" or trying to reconnect it is simply "disconnected")
It reconnects fine some of the time but other times it will not have the WIFI reception bar and there will be no internet access through my router. I have to manually turn the WIFI off and on again for it to re-establish a connection. **
Any ideas why this might be happening?
I have tried this on 2 different routers with the same results
3G is completely disabled
Phone is completely stock, and I have tried a factory reset.
I have reduced lease time on my routers from "forever" to 10 hours
I have had this happen at the side of the router so it is not a range issue
Model number : GT-S5570
Android version : 2.3.5 - (Samsung updater on the phone tells me this is the latest version)
Provider : tescomobile.ie
Thanks
Kel

Is that update actually official? Everywhere I look regarding that gives me links to download from Hotfile.com, I am a bit wary upgrading from a non official source and I can't seem to find the update on the Samsung website. You don't have a link do you?
I am hesitant as the phone is only a month old and I don't want to do anything that will affect the warranty.
Thanks for the quick reply.
don't worry they are stock firmware provided by Samsung (not officially)
and they will work great

The official firmwares provided by Samsung (see sammobile.com) but flash it according to your region (for example I'm in Indonesia so I flash DXKPD) if u don't wanna void your warranty
Edit : or if u still hestitating, use KIES to upgrade your phone

Hi all
I have a strange bug with wifi and i dont know if its karnel or baseband related.
After the phone is not restarted for 40+ hours i cant turn on wifi connection it says error in setting.
I have to restart the phone so the wifi will work for another 40 hours. I tried it with stock and neoblaze karnel, froyo and leaked ginger roms.
This bug is always there the only thing that i have the same is the baseband 622.
tnx in advance
Sorry to hear you have this issue, I have it as well.
V10d an 725BB (which is supposed to fix this error). I have to restart the phone every 100 hours uf uptime.
Will wait for the GB update if not, it is going back to service.
Regards
I have the v20e leaked and its the same as froyo. I think its a karnel issue and all the stock and modified karnels have the same issue.

Let me guess: The lease time on the networks DHCP-server is 48 hours? If that's the case there's a write-up here: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=11236
Short version: A bug in Android itself; not renewing the lease properly if the DHCP-server doesn't send a server ID. Continues to ask for renewals and rejecting the DHCP-offers, and sooner or later getting kicked off the network for excessive requests. (and a few other things.)
Same here. Doesn't matter what ROM/BB/RIL I'm using. Wifi fails like clockwork after about 70 hours of up-time. I'm surprised this issue isn't more widely reported. Perhaps most people got fed up by the SODs so they simply reboot everyday?
And no, it has nothing to do with DHCP. The hardware just refuses to be switched on past a certain point. And it doesn't seem to matter how many times you've toggled it previously. It's likely to be a driver issue.

Should be easy enough to test. Enter your wifi-settings and choose a static ip-address which is valid, but outside the dhcp-scope of your dhcp-server. If it still keels over at said time, then sure, it has nothing to do with dhcp. If it doesn't... (remember to reboot after choosing a static ip, as one of the consequences of the bug is that the phone keeps using ip-adresses it's no longer authorized to use until the next reboot.)
Its not the dhcp i know that much im an it manager working for internet provider. The wifi does not turn on i cant even search for network. Its says error starting wireless. U cant turn the wifi on untill u reboot the phone.

Fine. I wish you good luck in solving your problem.
Same problem here... V10c.
It's not a problem in my network, my tablet, notebook and last phone (Nokia) never had problems with my home wireless network.
When I try to activate the Wi-Fi I just get the error status, I have to restart the phone to bring things back to normal.
Also, I don't leave the phone Wi-Fi on all the time, I turn on only when I need.
Finally decided I have had enough of this (and this too!) and followed this guide to automatically reboot my P990 daily.
http://blog.homelinux.org/?p=341
Before, I have wifi error randomly (MCR FR17 or 18 maybe), sometimes it can't turned on (error), only reboot can fix it.
But after I use FR19 and now Topogigi, never have that issue anymore.
Ive noticed this error only happens after i recharge my phone. I think im gona flash 0725 baseband and test it.
0725 on my phone, no wifi problems. but dont think it is releated.
I have the same issue but I think I can narrow it down a little, I'm on 0405 BB, will see if it changes after I update to 725 and MoDaCo Gr3.
Anyway here's the deal. I realised the "Wifi error" appears only when you have Wifi turned off for most of the time. It starts after about 30-35 hours of uptime with wifi off. If you have wifi on for most of the time, it will work normally, as soon as you turn it off the "counting" starts. When you reach a total of about 30-35 hours of wifi off, it won't turn on with the dreaded "wifi error" message. After that there are times it does start but rarely. I also noticed that as the "wifi off" time increases it takes longer and longer for the wifi to turn on. After restart it takes about 1-2 seconds. After 15-20 hours of "wifi off" time, it takes 5-6 seconds. Looks like if wifi doesn't start in 10 seconds the OS will automatically declare it an Error. I tried to do a logcat and only thing I got was something about wireless.ko not reachable or smth like that. It's almost like there's a memory leak or smth in the baseband that is triggered only when the wifi is off. Doubt it's something like that but the description itself fits.
It's pretty annoying. I try to keep the wifi active for most of the time but it consumes battery when I'm outside (constant scanning). I would be grateful if someone else could look into this problem cause I doubt it's a hardware issue. I'm updating to Gr3 and BB725 next week so I'll let you know how it goes.
I have the wifi error too and while I used to reboot, I have found another workabout that doesn't require reboot. That is to switch on airplane mode. On wifi. Off airplane. On wifi. Wifi will normally connect after 1 or two such cycles.
Turned off WiFi today so I can test your method. It will take another 24 hours for the "WiFi Error" to appear. Hope this helps although I've already tried Airplane Mode and similar stuff. Unfortunately it doesn't help much if I have Tasker to turn on WiFi.
I tried you solution and it only worked when I first got the "Wifi Error". After some 8 further hours it doesn't help any more. "Wifi Error" started late last night. Airplane switching helped then (but also did multiple On-Off on Wifi). But this morning (I left it on 3G while it was charging just to test further) it didn't help anymore. :/ We'll see if new BB and ROM changes anything.
im having problems with my 3g on my phone its a samsung galaxy s 2 gt i9100 and version 2.3.3
it keeps turning on and of randomly for no reason some times it just goes of and other times it actually deactivates itself. ive removed juice defender which i thought was the cause but its still switching on and of randomly somtimes it will last for a hour or so other times it wil go on and of every 5 mins.
sometimes i can simply switch the data mode on and of and that works but most times i have to reboot the phone and everytime i reboot it the internet is back on.
what could be causing this its driving me made as i use my phone as a router most of the time. i know its not the network im on because it happens in every country i go to on a new sim.
is there a simple solution is it a android fault or samsung fault?
anyone have a solution to this as i really like my samsung phone but this problem is really annoying.

I don't own a 9100 but a 9001 (SGS Plus). The 2.3.3 firmware for my device gave me the exact same issue. I solved it by updating to 2.3.6. But you would need to ask someone who is more familiar with the S2 which ROM ist best as I don't know those.

thanks for the reply now how easy is it to update the phone it says there is no update avalibile when i try to check for updates.
How easy is it to do this rom thing and flashing id need a step by step guide id rather just be able to update it with the click of one button.
i assume you havn't rooted/flashed before? if not, either get into a decent wifi area and update your phone through the settings (that worked for my friends galaxy ace) or see if theres an update through samsungs own software "Kies"
personally i think the 3g issue seems to fall on samsungs side of things but i could be wrong,
no i havent rooted or flashed before. When i try to update in the phone info check for updates it says there is none im currently in the uae is the update done by the network or by samsung. Ive never used kies either. Ill have a look at it i thought kies was just another form of wifi.
Hey there!
I recently rooted my I900 (which I had never updated before) using SuperOneClick and everything worked just fine. Now I decided to update the firmware to 2.3.1 using Kies and it worked(my root is gone, but I knew that), but now I have run into a problem: I lose my wifi connection every 40-60 seconds or so, which makes online games or downloads impossible. The Wifi symbol dissappears for a few seconds and then returns, the internet works again instantly, but, as I said, any download or the like is cancelled. I tried getting a static IP adress and turning WLAN standby mode off, but to no avail. What seems to be the problem? What can I do? I would like to fix that without formatting anything, if that is possible.
Thank you very much in advance,
WittyWhiteFox

why not update it to 2.3.6 First, normally KIES will update to the latest for your region, so check here for your region or use webversion of Check Fus 2.0 ROM Downloader
Thanks for your answer.
In fact, I already have updated to 2.3.6(instead of 2.3.1), I made a stupid mistake there, sorry ' bout that.
But I managed to fix it, turns out my static IP configurations where somewhat off. I used a guide I found (but can't post here because I'm new) and now everything works just fine. So, yeah, my problem's solved, sorry for wasting your time. ^^

Hi, I have several problems with my galaxy note that I have not been able to fix, find anything about similar problems in the Note community and I have no clue on how to solve them.
1) 3g - No matter what ROM I am on, be it GB, ICS, JB TW/AOSP, then whenever there is a 3g icon in my status bar, my internet slows down to speeds you cannot use. I once managed to try the 3g on the speedtest.net app and I got I believe 0,02/0.01 Kbps download and as you know, that is unbearable. Does anyone have any suggestions for a fix? Perhaps flash a new Modem, a new ROM, try the stock GB that I got with my carrier from where I got the phone?
2) With the WiFi at my home: If I am "far" away from the router (the router is in one corner of the house, I am on the floor above at the other corner), then I sometimes get randomly disconnected and it says in the settings "Authentication Error". Again, all ROM's. I have a very strong signal in that corner (2 or 3 bars) but I will probably just get the answer that is expected - I am too far away from the router.
3) I currently have installed TW 4.1.2 GalaxtusMod v3 XXLT5 (latest) and I have the latest (1.3.7) c.o.h.'s HelloWorld kernel flashed to the device.
I cannot "uninstall" system apps using TB or other root uninstaller apps, however I can manually remove the apps using Solid Explorer. When I try to use TB (free) then after selecting about 30 apps in the batch mode to remove, then the phone would usually crash and reboot after about 10 uninstalled apps (these apps are basic things - maps, talk, youtube, widgets etc. no important system apps). I used to simply uninstall them 5 at a time and it worked, with my current combination though it doesn't report any error at the end but the apps are still installed. So if anyone else is having problems (I have problems on any configuration in batch uninstalling a lot of apps) removing in batch apps with titanium backup or has been lucky enough to find a solution then I would be grateful for a solution or just say if it happens to you too.
Also I always do a proper clean install, with stock firmware I use Odin on the PC and I always do wipes (caches, system, data, preload etc) before flashing anything.
*edit*
4) When I am charging the phone using the stock adapter but using a different cable (same length cable in good condition) then the phone is very laggy. The interface jumps and is jittery.
Luckily I have a brother who also has a Galaxy Note and he doesn't have neither problem 1 or 4 (don't know about 2,3)

I've often been in a corner upstair floor with weak wifi signal, only 1 bar, because router is downstair. Download/Upload's are very slower than when I'm near the router but I've never got the "Authentication error" problem.
Just a witness from my own situation of wifi signal weakness.

Thanks for that, I asked my brother the other day and he gets it but rarely... guess it is a problem with my router.
Has anyone else got some insight to the other problems?
Bump?
try different kernel/ modem combo. Most custom roms dont have modem, so if your with the same modem, that could be it. Try one for your region. see the modem thread in development section.
Now 3g,
- check your provider as well, ask them if they severed your connection. Some providers have been known to do that.
- check apn settings on phone if they are like provider
- check if your not roaming ( other network then provider)

Thanks for this, after I get back from Israel on 1st June then I will try downloading some modems to try out. If that doesn't work I guess I could ask my provider whether they have done anything. Thanks

Hello,
I upgraded my phone to the unbranded/Nordic version (9.2.A.1.210) from the original 9.1.A.1.140.
While this brought many positives (support of BLE for my forerunner & good battery life), it also brought some negatives:
- A terrible clicking noise when the camera is auto-focusing (clearly a known bug in all JB version ...)
- A very unstable wifi
On this second issue, I have not seen any other report of the issue.
The symptoms are quite basic, after some time (around couple of hours), the phone will no longer associate with any wifi.
The only method I found was to enable/disable the airplane mode to restore normal wifi operation ...
I have installed wifi-fixer for having more details, since the wifi is looping on the association mode (could be authentication errors on these known network). Of course, all authentication info are correct as the phone will connect properly once going through the airplane mode ...
I also re-flash that firmware, from the .ftf but also forcing it from Sony SUS ...
At this point I reverted back to 4.1.2 as I'd rather have less features but reliable one (wifi is flawless now - well just as it should be ...)
Anyone else with the problem ? Any solution identified ?
Same problem Here
Would you please point me to the tutorials to get back my phone to 4.1.2, thank you?

Just follow the guide in the general section (i.e. retrieve the right .FTF file and use flashtool), this is very straightforward.
Tried with the ROM from Singapore, same issue ...
=> Association rejected on all known wifi
(using the power button to cycle the airplane mode restore the wifi for 10-15 mn)
Any advice on how to troubleshoot ?

Maybe it's your wifi that gives problem of compatibility when you're on 4.3
Try with another wifi if you can..
And try to change some settings of your current wifi like number of channel, kind of encryption, and so on..
In fact the problem is more complex as sometime my wifi appears to be ok but I do not have any connectivity ...
Now, I believe I found some interesting infos:
=> prb is directly tied with usage of Bluetooth (especially 4.0 BLE)
When the wifi is 'broken', disabling BT will indeed restore normal wifi operation ...
I could not notice the issue before since Android 4.1.2 do not support BLE ...
I've notice others thread reporting WIFI/BT issue (notably around support of smartwatch)
In my case, I'm trying to have my garmin GPS Watch to pair with the phone, this is were the prb can be easily reproduced
I have the same issue! That damned Association Reject!
I can confirm this is due to Sony 4.3 as Wi-Fi still work normally on my other 4.3+ devices (Nexus 7 2012, Galaxy Nexus)

Same here
i have tried numerous methods to fix this so far no luck..im on ub flashed 2 3 roms even stock rom with sus
One observation ...
This time, running stock .210 but not installing my BT4.0 Application (Garmin Connect), I only had the Wifi/BT issue once ...
I will install the application but not connect to my watch (Forerunner 620), to see where exactly is the breaking point.
After all these, I will certainly consider unlocking my bootloader and try the Omni ROM (as I see Walter79 is extremely active)
