Hi all, is the new CF-Root LRK safe for data wipes purposes as abyss, notecore and speedmod are?

CF--Root is generally safe for wipes, but apparently not so safe for flashing new and untested Roms. Rom's bad updater script might fry your device:

It would be nice if a guide could be made for the use of this kernel for noobs and newcomers.
This kernel is MUCH superior to any of the other present kernels available.
Fire is a useful tool and can cook you some of the best hot meals but it must be handled with care.
I wonder if further development is possible for this.

Really? I hear that NoteCore is much superior for TW Roms.

You know its close to stock, that doesn't make it superior, just different. The extras rock, cwm, bb etc. I like his kernels.
Also, as far as I know none of the cf kernels have the emmc erase command blocked, so I would say No its not safe, so dont wipe. This is also unlikely to ever be safe because most need source to block that command. Cf publishes before source available.
edit, gave cf more deserved tribute

Not advisable in my opinion.
Better use notecore / speedmod when you want to do wipes.
Yes, the question is exactely if emmc erase command has been removed in this release

Hi folks, first time posting but I read this forum every day!
I'd like to report a bug with CWM v.5 bundled with Semaphore 2.5.0 (can't write in the dedicated thread because of my low post count).
Yesterday, trying to flash the new MIUI Mintberry, I've noticed that CWM5 can't read ANY file in the internal memory (you know, the step "Choose file from SD card"...).
I solved trying to install CF-root with CWM3, and now I'm on Mintberry again.
Is this a bug of Semaphore or about CWM5?
Until today morning my SGS was running on JVZ-Stock and additional the semaphore kernel 2.5.0.
And I could not reproduce the bug you mean...
I don't think that there is a problem with Semaphore kernel and CWM 5.
so you can choose files from sdcard in recovery...
weird

a guy in a famous italian forum has suggested to remove the battery tor 20s before flashing.
someone with CWM5 should try

Hallo, I'm using my lg 2x with many custom Roma, I'm currently on Django Manichean 1.5 beta.
Because I'm going to sell the phone, I'm wondering what's the best way to load original v20s on the phone.
Any help is really appreciated, thanks.

This thread should help you out. The OP there has links to download the stock V20s roms.

If total reset nvflash are the only solution if you want original state with warranty also. Why not sell it with the cmw and root, extra cash maybe

I was able to restore original 20s (so unusual, I use custom roms for more than one year!), and I think that a normal customer can be scared if he thinks I played so much with the telephone, better to restore a clean, original state with no root or cwm.
But for warranty, I remember that LG wrote that using custom roms do not affect warranty... something changed?
And, just in case, how is it possible to root on Gingerbread? SuperOneClick is still working?
Thanks.
Hi, I think I have bricked my phone! =(
I flashed yesterday the BlackCNA rom and I didnt liked it so I flash the stock rom 4.0.4 by odin, then the note stucked at samsungs logo, when this happened I restart the phone an flashed CWM, then CWM SuperSU and the francos kernel to root the phone.
The thing is that now I cant use my phone because it doesnt pass the samsungs logo!
First wrong section
Second get a stock gb rom and flash it via Odin...
Btw you don't have to flash franco to gain root..
There's plenty easy methods to root and francos its a way outdated kernel

Now I did a wipe cache and nothing!!
Before flashing stock gb flash Hydracore Standart then reboot to recovery and wipe everything and see if the phone boots

I flashed hydracore and do all wipes, and after 5 minutes the note started! thanks!!!
No problem.. Do not flash franco that's a really old software.. And with hydra you are safe to go with all roms (ics) and you gain root and cwm..
Cheers

Seems like you are on custom Kernel (hydracore) and as long as you are on custom kernels you cannot receive OTA updates. As of now best for you is to just ignore the OTA update.

Ok, I'll do that. But for the future when JB appears by OTA how can I put the official kernel?

You can download stock kernel for your rom from here and then flash using mobile odin. but there is no surety of OTA update even after flashing stock kernel but you can use kies for major updates.

Lol you don't have to worry about that for some months... Besides when ever the official gets out you can happily download it from sammobile.com then flash it via odin

yes :good:
hydracore is the most popular and safest kernel currently available for the Note.
and best thing is...... it works with every rom
