Hello,
first of all I used the search and read many different threads! Anyway I couldn't find the answer to my questions. I only got more confused as I already am
I want to use the Zeus rom v6.39! I don't have root or anything. Now my question: I have v20q and want to know if I can do it as described with v20o or v20n and also use the rom?
If possible you could post the links to detailed how tos because I'm new to all that root and rom stuff:angel:
Hy luke. I have the same question and intrests about roms and root for the lgob.
I think that we could make a downgrade with smartflash to the v10a version, root it with gingerbreak and than we can install every rom that we want.
One problem: i don't know if a downgrade works with the smartflash tool and v20q. I recently asked the dev and post a question in the right thread.
Hope that we success together

Hey guys,
follow this advice to install a rooted GB on the OB. This works 100%, I have done this quite a lot of times on different OB versions (also coming from a newer base, e.g. V20n).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23833005
After this, you are rooted V20o and have CWM. If you want to install a custom rom afterwards, think about putting the rom on your SD card before doing the procedure above. With this way you will save some time...
Thanks
Hi, thanks. I'll try your soultions.
Hope that erverything works fine.

Ok thx guys! If you tell me where I can hit the thx button I will do so...
Is there any method to save my data and apps effectively? And how exactly do I put on the rom after I gained root?
"3. Download Superuser.zip and copy it in root of your SD-cart!! DO NOT EXTRACT!!" does that mean I need to have root already when I copy it on my SD cart?
The app appadmin (don't know if it is still available in the store) help you to backup all your apps.
Your contacts and phonebook can be easily synct with your google account. (Phonebook_settings_export contacts)
You can backup your sms with 'backup&restore' from the market.
No, you don't need root to put the superuser apk to your sd card. That means maybe you can creat a folder called "root" with the superuser apk in there.
Can you please tell us if you managed it to get root?

any suggestions?
Sure that you installed zeus rom? Pls look at phone settings_phoneinformations_last entries(here should you read zeus kernel or version number.
Are you on the zeus rom?

Hai,
This happen to me in a while.. You should try fullwipe and reflash the rom again,
DO NOT FULLWIPE AFTER FLASHING -- it might happen just bcause of the wipping.. I found few bugs after wipping GDX regarding apk instalation but maybe its just me
Anyway GingerXperia and Gingercruzt has build in active launcher on them...

Hello,
first of all, I am a total xda-noob (as told by the video) and my deeper Android knowledge is quite small.
Well, I'm seriouly considering to put the Cyanogen mod on my phone and now I have a question about going back to the stock ROM. I've made a backup of the stock ROM using Clockworkmod Recovery and this made seven files which can be seen in the added image. Now I'm wondering how I can go back to the stock ROM if CM doesn't fit me. I know I have to restore the backup in recovery mode but I think I'm right if I say this isn't enough. Can someone tell what to do exactly, as I am very cautionous. Or are there other ways to flash my stock ROM? Thanks in advance! MY CURRENT ANDROID VERSION IS GINGERBREAD 2.3.5
P.S. If this is already answered in another thread or if this placed wrongly, please tell me and I apologize for that.
UPDATE
After some searching I found this small tutorial which fitted my expectations. It said that it can indeed simply be done by restoring it in recovery mode by simply selecting the backup folder. Can someone comfirm this?
Almost right.
Cyanogenmod roms use a different format for the system, called 'ext4'. Stock roms use 'rfs' format.
Before restoring you have to convert to rfs. The easy way to do this is flashing a stock firmware with odin and your phone connected to the pc.
Quick guidelines to restore stock backup:
-flash a stock firmware through odin
-root
-flash cwm through recovery
-restore your backup
-you'll have everything exactly the same way you had it when creating the backup.
If you don't get any of the steps, read through the forum, specially the stickies (you wouldn't have opened this thread if you did so in the first place).

Thank you for answering. About everything is clear now and I understand what I'll have to do. I now understand there is indeed a difference between restoring and flashing a ROM. I've found an online guide which tells me how to use Odin. Only one more question: before using Odin, do I have to factory reset and clear cache partion? I think I do but I'm not quite sure. And if I do this before using Odin, will my phone even be able to boot in recovery mode/download mode? Thanks in advance!

it cause no problems..

but you hv to wipe data and cache via recovery after flashing via odin at first boot..

Are you mental or just plain sadistic? Telling new ace users to try Rom Manager?
ROM MANAGER WILL BRICK YOUR ACE.
Only under some very specific conditions rom manager works in the ace, if you don't know them, stay away from this app.

i guys, today i am using ICS 4.0.3(Claro BR) on my Note, the official firmware, rooted but never flashed any ROM(Don't wanna wipe) and this morning i was trying to install some modded SMS apps(I was really angry with automatic conversion to MMS on long texts). I used CWM and flashed an app without backing up the old one, the app doesn't work and i can't get the original back. Can someone please help me? (I am travelling and without acess to my computer at the moment)
I would be very grateful if someone with the stock ROM post their MMS.apk so i can try to i install it.

Unfortunately I don't have that saved...
You have a few options while on the road.
1. Download a third party MMS app from play store.
2. Reflash your ROM using mobile Odin
3. Download the 4.0.3 ROM. Extract the necessary file using root explorer. Place it in /system/app and set proper permissions.
Other things you can do too...but sounds like those would be easiest for you

Maybe you want to heed the following advice: Always make a Nand backup before you alter system apps/ files. If you have a Nand backup you can always restore your rom like it was before you did the modifications.

Yeah in es, you can locate the /system/app folder in the tar file.
Locate the appropriate file.
Copy it to your /system/app.
Next step is crucial- set proper permissions. Just do it the same as all other other files.
If you have problems you can always dirty flash the ROM
NOTE TO YOU AS A NEW USER. KNOW THAT STOCK ICS 4.0 KERNELS ARE UNSAFE AND IF YOU DO A FACTORY RESET YOU MAY KILL YOUR NEW PHONE. Please read the stickies on brick bug and you can install philz kernel to avoid issues.
And like other guy said...do nandroid backups...

I use the same version 0 file I had used the first time to install it. The firt time I installed I did v0 and then v0.1 and later v0.2 and then v0.4. Then I decided to try Mackay as I really want Jelly Bean, but the stability, battery life and camera on IZS is just great and that's why I wanted to go back.
Anyway, so my phone got stuck in a bootloop and the only way I could recover it was to use smart flash and flash my old v20e, then I did a full wipe and then tried IZS but got same boot loop. I then did the whole process again with smartflash and v20e and tried JellyBam v4 and Mackay version 2.6.3 and they worked fine. So not sure IZS won't work. Mackay is def not the worst rom to be stuck on, in fact if it had a better camera and not the sd card issues of cm10.1 then it would be just as good in my opinion.
So any ideas? Thanks in advance

As RomWiz said if you use Smartflash anyway use the PRE_IZS_IMAGE (do it like Huexxx explaind in 'case C') and next time you might know why it sometimes is very good to have a nandroid. If you had done that as you still where on IZS before you tryed Mackay you probably could have restored that nandroid much easyer.

It can happen if you rename the nandroid. The name is part of the MD5sum and some programs that help you with reorg your backups should change that, but I had it already that they mess up. Or some backups are dammaged anyway. If you make the backup in CWM directly the changes that it's not OK are slimmer as when you make it with the online nandroid backup app, but both happend to me already. I think in some CWM you can turn the MD5 check off.
I tend to make a backup nearly every week, so if one is bad it might not be so bad. I copy the backups every 3-4 weeks to my PC that I can delete the older ones on my SD card and after 3-4 month I delete them on my PC. Hey hey I make more backups on my phone than on my PC.
