Bricked incredible S ICS upgrade Optus/Vodafone - HTC Incredible S

bought incredible S from optus, then unlocked and now on Vodafone.
phone is now bricked after attempting to upgrade to ICS when rolled out by Vodafone. ICS not yet rolled out by optus, is this the cause of bricking? if so, how do i fix?
cheers

What?
If you bought your phone from optus and it has not been modified, it will still be an optus phone. A sim unlock has nothing to do with the ROM version
So you have not modified your phone other than the sim unlock?
When you booted it up last time, did it still have the optus animation?
Also, what does it look like now? At what stage did the phone stop working?
Sorry about the questions, just want to know the condition of your phone so we can help yo

Is it safe to flash simlocked Galaxy S?

Is it safe to flash simlocked i9000 with odin?
IMO theres no connections between flashing and simlock, but want to be sure.
Cheers.
I flashed my simlocked SGS using Odin and I had no problems. There are other few cases in the same situation and they had no problems.
Will a new ROM get rid of the simlock?
no, it wont, this would be to easy to dream of...

No problem to flash, I did it many times already, try also 2.1 and 2.2 android on it, lag fix, etc. Everything working normally...and, of course, the lock remain in place!

Mine is simlocked. Flashed sever times and all is perfectly !
just make sure to run Odin on a windows machine with English US settings
i screwed up a flash because it was running on a machine with Non English US, it got stuck on the 512.pit mode, but it wouldn't continue
My phone has simlock.
But i dont now of i can flash it to JM5?
Somebody now how i can unlock my phone ?
My precious is simlocked and I had no problems flashing other firmware. For example now I'm running a pre-rooted XXJP3 flashed through Odin. You cannot get rid of the simlock by flashing other firmware, you have to buy the unlock code. I'm waiting mine.

Hi where are you getting your unlock from
I tried with globalunlock but they were not serious, I had to raise a dispute/claim to Paypal to get my money back. Now I'm trying with someone from my country (i know his name and address in case of.... )
Hi!
My Galaxy S was locked too.
I tried unlocksamsung.co.uk and they sent me back an unlock code in one day. Everything is fine now.
I got my unlock code in 24 hours using a romanian guy services found on an ebay-like site in romania (okazii). Everything went smoothly and now my precious is sim unlocked
My phone is simlocked and ive flashed it several times already.
Will it be OK then to flash a sim locked tmobile 2.1 with a vodafone 2.2 with the kies registry fix

[Q] ISSUE Rogers raider ICS Reboot loop (S-OFF, unlocked bootloader, sim unlocked)

This is for my HTC Raider from Rogers Canada.
Below is I've done
1. sim unlock, by use the code bought from internet
2. unlock bootloader via HTCDev (bootloader for ICS and bootloader for GB).
3. S-OFF via wire trick.
It runs Dark Raider v1.5.4 with stable kernel, without SIM card, so far so good.
But when I try to use Rogergs sime card, I got boot loop issue like this :
It can boot the ICS system, show unlock screen, and can even unlock screen by sliding circle and get into home screen and check app drawers, but when I turn off flight mode (thus turn on radio), after a while (20 to 60 secs), it will reboot; and again, reboot to ICS, after a while, reboot, .....
I've try other ICS ROMS/kernel combination, such as
AT&T VIVID ICS with stable kernel, no lucky, same boot loop
AT&T VIVID ICS with stock kernel, no lukcy, same boot loop
Try to use FIDO sim card (use rogers network), no luck
but if I change to my old T-Mobile sim card , it works fine, and it find rogers network and even show me it's 4G. (T-Mobile use Rogers network in Canada). No reboot loop anymore.
Can anyone here give me some suggestion about this issue?
BTW : My raider use the new HBOOT to boot ICS. If I want to switch back to GB, can my new HBOOT boot GB? or I have to downgrade HBOOT?
Thanks

This is definitely odd behavior. I have a rogers raider, sim unlocked and running PAC.. I'm currently with Chat-r and have no problems.. I've used telus and fido sim cards as well from friends' phones just to test and never once had it reboot..always comes up with cell service. So...not sure but your issue doesn't sound like its gonna be an "easy" fix.

I'm wondering if I might have messed something up when doing the wire trick for S-Off. Shorted something I shouldn't have..
you can try to reinstall the latest ruu for your phone than use HTC Vivid All-In-One Toolkit V2.2 to root phone again choose the wcs recovery than try installing darkraider again from recovery

After installing the RUU, waiting a few days for the htcdev.com site to send me my bootloader unlock code, everything works as expected. Thanks for the suggestions
This is curious, I am having the same problem with my Rogers HTC Raider. Difference with mine is, it's completely stock. Had the phone sitting around a couple months with a broken screen, finally replaced it, thought I'd be curious and do the OTA update to see what the new software was like compared to my HTC Desire running CM7
All was fine until I put a sim card in to play with it (Rogers sim, phone isn't even Unlocked), and I get bootloop. Take sim out, boots into Sense fine and I can play away. Put into Airplane mode, turn off phone and insert sim, turns on fine. Take it off of Airplane mode, reboot......
Any further suggestions for a completely stock phone?

Few basic queries!!! Need Answers.

Hey all. First of all i would like to congratulate all the members who own this ultimate device.. i am loving this phone upto now. But sometimes an idea just stucks on my mind to root this phone also as i did with my samsung galaxy note 2. But i am new to HTC and dunn know basics about this phone. I hv searched alot of topics and spend my time in understanding the rooting procedure. Wht i understood is i have to unlock my bootloader and turn s-off. After that i can flash cwm or twrp and start using custom roms
Now what i want to know is if i unlock my bootloader using htcdev.com then would this void tbe warranty fully?
Can i relock the bootloader and make it as it is now.
In samsung we can do this by using traingle away application but im not aware of htc as this is my first device..
Sorry for the noob questions.thanx in advance.

Unlocking your bootloader through HTCDEV will always carry the risk of HTC rejecting your warranty claim. Relocking the bootloader will change the lock status to RE-LOCKED instead of LOCKED (like stock).
With S-Off, you can bypass HTCDEV and unlock the bootloader. You can also change the status to LOCKED. Sequence of events would then be S-Off --> Unlock bootloader --> Flash a custom recovery --> Nandroid your stock ROM just in case --> Do whatever you want

Hi
greetings,
firstly welcome to HTC group.
the process of samsung and htc is different and rooting htc is a bit tough ( do not worry)
Unlocking bootloader from htcdev voids warranty completely
after unlocking booloader your bootloader says UNLOCKED and this is how HTC comes to know weather we have played with the phone or not
and after unlocking bootloader you can flash custom roms you do not have to be S-OFF.
now S-OFF means security off it gives us full access to the system which we do not achieve by unlocking bootloader.
so basically doing S-OFF you get access to all the system files of the phone including radio and all other stuff
and if you successfully achieve S-OFF( not a tough job) then you can get your warranty back by making our bootloader say LOCKED instead of UNLOCKED or RELOCKED
Thats it by this way you can have your warranty back
ENJOY FLASHING
DO NOT USE KYIES OVER HERE
So when i achieve s-off, my device will be unlocked or locked? Bcoz it bypass the htcdev process...
If it will be unlocked is there any way to make it locked bro?
Sent from my HTC One
yes you can relock. but with s-off it will say locked instead of relocked

HI
greetings,
if you do S-OFF first then your bootloader will say LOCKED
and you will have to patch the bootloader and then you can access the fastboot commands to flash recovery and install custom ROM.
and after S-OFF and unlocking bootloader you can make it LOCKED again
HTC generally don't mind if you unlock, I had to send mine back to the official HTC repair centre in England after a bad flash and I got a brand new SIM free phone back., no questions asked.

How long did it take from sending to receiving back.

Took a month but that's only because I stupidly sent it via the shop where I bought it who then sent it to their repairs centre in Dublin who eventually decided they couldn't fix it and then sent it to HTC in England so the whole process took a month, moral of the story is, if you bork your phone assuming it's under warranty send it to HTC direct, much quicker.
Good luck

For HTC One: International GSM/LTE (UL), International GSM (U), all U.S. carriers (apart from Sprint)
Next time I would suggest you flash only Sprint Roms. You need to RUU http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44243635

device not found
Every time I go into adb or try to use the hasoon toolkit it tells me device not found. Bootloader is unlocked with s-on and htc drivers are installed. When I try to boot into recovery now it sits at the HTC quite brilliant screen for a few seconds then shuts down.
Just tried re-locking/re-unlocking the bootloader and was successful with that so the drivers are working and it seems to have some connection to adb.
I tried pushing a recovery through adb and it had sit for over 8 hours, went to work and let it sit trying, and still nothing happened. Adb is stuck on sending 'recovery' <7544 KB>... and saying nothing else.
Just tried it again and it worked instantly so now I have a recovery.
Problem solved, major thanks to Indirect for the assist.

[Q] t-mobile update

Hello community
I got this amazing phone today. Is unlocked and now I am using with three mobile. my question is as follow:
I know that the phone must have been routed as I can see the superuser logo. Does it means that if i run the t-mobile update it will be locked again?
I am wondering if the seller (who does not reply) just sent me an unlocked t-mobile note 4 and i would be able to run the update without problem.
any one could help me please?
If you update you should just loose root. You won't loose unlock.

If your or anyone's phone regardless of make and model
is rooted you will not be able to get the OTA update at all
unless you first un-root the phone and make sure that you
are using the official stock firmware.
The OTA updater will let you know if you are running an
un-official operating system. (like any custom roms).
However updating firmware with Odin or OTA won't re-lock the phone.
Good luck!
