Droid 3 seems to be unbrickable - Motorola Droid 3

I've tried many different things in alot of the threads I've read on this forum and nothing is working. I tried using the One-Click root on my Droid and it didn't work, come to find out, it was an outdated method for the Droid 3. It messed up my phone. My apps constantly crash. My texts disappear, then sometimes reappear switching the place of the texts randomly. When I reset from settings, it restarts phone, but nothing is reset. It won't let me check my e-mails(G-mail). I can hardly do anything. I've tried flashing back using the AP Fastboot method from psouza(spelling?). On my phone it says Battery OK/Program OK/USB Connected. So I run the "CLICK HERE - Flash Verizon DROID 3 OTA 5.6.890 to phone.bat". It failed.
Then I tried ovelayers method. Everything seems to go good. And I was happy! But when it rebooted, it took me to the android triangle screen. SO I selcected reboot. And absolutely nothing changed. Am I Missing a step? I also tried doing it again, but after it went to traingle android screen, I selected the update from the SD card, installed it, rebooted, and STILL nothing. Nothing changes. Ever. Nothing is working. Please help. I tried being as descriptive as possible so that it answers most potential questions.
*Edit* I've also tried the RDS Lite method. Crashes on step 3.

I have the full system file already. That's what I tried using to update. The problem doesn't lie there though. The problem is that no matter what I do, the phone never resets. It's on right now. If I uninstall apps right now and restart my phone, they'll still be there. Likewise with installing them. If I text anyone, when I restart my phone, that conversation will be gone. Likewise with call logs and everything else. The phone literally after every restart goes back to the same position it was when I badly rooted the first time. No resets, recoveries, hard resets, flashes, etc have worked thus far. I've used ALL the one click SBF versions also, just to be thorough. The phone literally will not change. What I need is something similar to a computer. I need to completely wipe it. Then I need to completely reinstall it from scratch. Just like reformatting your hard drive. I've heard that there has really been no case of an unbrickable phone, that there is always a way to fix it; but this far, I haven't found anybody that hasn't had their phone fixed. Even those that have had similar issues fixed it, and I've tried the methods they've provided to no avail.

Can you install bootstrap? That way you can wipe data, and there should be no way it boots back like nothing has changed

Edit: or, boot into recovery with x+power (or m+power i always forget) and wipe/factory from there

I will attempt that now. How is it used? I can build pc's and am rather intelligent in the IT of macs and pc's. But haven't had to do much with Androids till now. Lol. I've tried the wipe/factory method already. I understand that .apk is the file extension for Google Play apps, and I can install it via the SD card, but what do I do from then?
*EDIT* It's installed, it has bootstrap recovery and reboot recovery. Reboot does nothing. Bootstrap says there's an error running a command. Looks like a directory about files and hashcodes. "Working Directory: null/Environment: null".

First you need root access. Use Motofail if you haven't:

Open bootstrap, press bootstrap recovery, afterwards press reboot recovery.
If it doesn't work, shutdown your phone, hold X and press power and do it from there

So you did wipe/factory reset from recovery and it still boots like nothing happened? I'm not sure how thats possible.. stock recovery shouldnt have anything to do with what you messed up in your rom. Maybe for some reason your phone is unable to write data anymore

I'm going to record a video. And show you the multiple things that happens. I'll have to PM it to you though, and anyone who wants to see it.

I remember someone else having a similar issue on their device. Since I'm home sick today I'll see if I can find the thread and if it ever got solved

Just saw your vid and its exactly as you say. I don't know whats going wrong..
Writing yo your internal might not be the same as writing to your data partition.. I don't see why else wiping from recovery would fail since that part should be unaffected.
You said sbf says its succesful however on your screenshot i see errors.

Well, I don't have insurance on it, as I had gotten it from a friend. So, no. Not without paying an arm and a leg, at which point I'd pay for a new phone instead. I just really wish this could be fixed. I've heard no phone was unbrickable. AM I THE PRODIGY?!

Help! Totally messed up device!

OK so I tried to use ADB to push an modded Launcher2.apk. For some reason (even though I copied and pasted the commands into the prompt) the launcher force closes over and over. I cannot do anything on the device. Tried a hard-reset but it survives, again force closes over and over.
How can I go back to COMPLETELY STOCK without being able to access the device?
EDIT: FIXED! Thanks grainysand for giving instructions. I'll also take this opportunity to flip the e-bird to the folks who snidely responded with things that not only didn't help, but just makes XDA that much less accessible. I hope those folks got a huge boner off of it. But again, thanks to those who did help.
Plug it into your PC and try rebooting into recovery via ADB commands?
No idea how. If you know what commands to use that'd be greatly appriciated!
adb reboot recovery
Just replace the file you just pushed with it's original, providing you still have it. If you don't find it, and then push it back over the top. It will still mount as adb, if you don't have debugging on persist through the popups and turn it on, adb push.

I do have it, and I tried this, it didn't work. I cannot get to the device whatsoever, the launcher will not run, it repeatedly force closes. Tried pushing it back via ADB, the prompt says it copied correctly, but on reboot, same thing. I'm going to need to flash, just don't know how.
Just restore the Nand backup you made before trying to push the modded launcher over.

By no means is your phone bricked, or even close to it. Do as we've suggested, there are tons of options that aren't listed here. Wipe, flash, etc. As I stated, push a launcher that won't clash with your system.

I already knew that... but thought someone should make the point. You should be able to fix this issue relatively easily by booting into recovery and flashing a custom ROM again. It should overwrite launcher2.apk, if I'm not mistaken.

I'm not sure how to do this.. only ADB? I'm fairly new to Android, it's not like booting WinMo devices to bootloader and running an exe of course. I'm really dumb at ADB at the moment, so commands would really help me out. I do appreciate the help though guys!
We already told you to boot into recovery and go from there. Did it not work or something?
I'm not rooted, but IIRC, turning off the phone, then restarting it while holding the volume down button will give you the option to boot into recovery, no? So all you have to do is copy the ROM that you originally flashed to the phone onto the root of your SD card, go into Recovery (I'm assuming you're running Amon_RA's Recovery, which is an excellent product), and flash the zip file.
If what I wrote sounds confusing or you don't understand it, then you were premature in rooting your phone and messing around with files therein, and you need to do some researching and reading on this site (including the G1 forum) for all the info regarding these processes.
Anyway, don't freak out... your phone will be fine. I'm going back to bed...but I'm sure someone can give you a step by step to what I said if need be (hopefully you know how do to this though)...

What does the filename have to be? What if I only have the regular recovery? I tried the file unzipped and recovery just sat there.
Ok I kept Googling and trying stuff. I got a stock rom from MDC and tried to flash it in stock recovery (I dont think it was amon-ra's, no real way to tell that I could see).. tried to flash the stock rom and it says Verification Failed. Ugh.. does anyone have step by step instructions? I'm really failing here.
You can tell it's Amon_RA's. It's got a... well, depending on which version you got it'll either have the Nexus logo or a green or pink Carebear.
Anyway.
Download the Amon_RA recovery if you haven't already. Flash it (fastboot flash recovery filename.img).
Type:
adb reboot recovery
You should now be in Amon_RA's recovery. Select wipe and wipe everything. Then select "Flash from SD card" and flash whichever ROM you downloaded.

Can someone help me? I am so lost

I've been having trouble with my Vibrant and with T-Mobile in limbo I picked up a N1 off ebay to hold me over. This thing is driving me insane!
The phone came with CM7 installed on it, but the person that shipped it to me didn't erase any of there stuff so I figured I would flash a fresh image on the phone to take care of things. I've flashed my Vibrant a dozen or so times and never had an issue. Flashed the N1 and it comes up with an X made of 4 different colored lines and a little lock at the bottom. I know some roms take a while to load so I let it sit for an hour. Nothing.
Since I've been trying everything I can find out how to recover the phone including all of the guides on the wiki. I'm at my wits end at this point. I can't get into clockwork at all on the phone. It gets stuck in the bootloader and if I select recovery it just takes me back.
I've got droid explorer running, and the phone shows up, but it doesn't show anything on the phone, no folders or files and won't let me load anything on to it. (it says it is, but then stays blank) I have no clue what to do at this point short of taking a sledge hammer to it. (obviously I'm posting this as I consider that to be plan B)
I don't need anything special, I just want a working phone. Is that really so much to ask for?
If ur Phone is running( means u can boot) try flashing cwr from rom manager and flash the rom again or try to hard reset the phone and then see ?
Firstly, I would start of by being more specific about what you have tried.
If you really have tried "everything", then there's nothing anyone can do for you.
I suspect you haven't tried "everything"...?

I'm sure I haven't, just what I found in the wiki
I tried the PASSIMG.ZIP and it failed
I tried Amon_Ra's Recovery and the only way I can get it to do anything is to tell it to flash in droid explorer and it just reboots and gets stuck. Now nothing is showing up file wise in droid explorer and I can't transfer the image onto the root.
When I could get into clockwork I tried flashing different roms but it would just go to a screen with the clockwork logo and get stuck.

in the bootloader I think (dont take my rookie rooting words too serious) theres a hard reset menu under recovery. it will take you to another x and press volume up and power for the menu to pop up.
try fastboot a recovery image (either Amon Ra or CWM) and see if you can get back to recovery after that.
Well I'm assuming you already have a custom recovery since it came with CM and you've, as you said, flashed it (what exactly do you mean by that by the way? flashed another rom?). So all I can recommend is that you wipe a few times and try flashing a few different roms and hopefully one will boot. Not the best advice in the world but its always worked for me before and my N1 and my DEXT before hand when I've messed them up!
You still did not say what you flashed to your phone.
Anyways follow the restore to stock guide.
I don't know what this Droid manager thing is but don't use it. Install the sdk.....

problem with factory reset

hello, i recently bought used droid 4, found it to be with some leftover data (sms, and such) so first thing i did was a factory reset only to
find it after a while in extact same state. weird thing is that when i factory reset it after removing some apps or changing anything at all it acts
as if i restored some backup instead of wiping device. it spams me with errors every few seconds too which is quite troublesome to say the least.
i searched the internet for an answer (still looking) to this problem but so far got nothing. i mean there are lots of ppl with similiar issue
but no real answer anywhere i looked. i thought maybe flashing some stock rom (dont wanna try anything custom yet since i got lapdock
too and havent checked if webtop works with custom roms yet). is it the right direction in my case or is there some simplier answer to my problem?
thanks in advance
update: cant root it, cant install official update through rsdlite, cant update through other unofficial ways,
it acts as if everything went fine and each time im back to square 1. it aint my first or second journey with rooting,
changing rom but im not really sure what else can i do. also rsdlite cant detect any information about device (imei,
os version, flex drm boot etc are all filled with N/A
install from sdcard also failed - signature verification failed. keeps gettin better. downloading another rom from
official moto website... not expecting anything though

from what i read in this post about factory cable it says it boots phone different way than normal thats why i thought maybe
itll be able to successfully update with it. also after every reset of this droid its not a simple matter of apps coming back thru wifi.
wifi is disabled and theyre there right from the start. i can remove some widgets or apps from home screen, i can delete texts,
and after reset theyre all back where they were. its as if every change i made havent been saved. i dont even have to reset phone,
i just need to reboot it to have it all back
phone needs to be in AP Fastboot mode when flashing with rsd lite.
verify md5 checksum for xml file before flashing.
yes, it was in ap fatboot mode, didnt verify the md5 tho.
more importantly, file i downloaded from site You linked passed verification! guess what i found wasnt official updates after all...

also, when rsd works it acts as if it doesnt wait for the phone with operations.
it writes reboot, phone starts to reboot, and long time before it boots back either in ap fastboot mode or into recovery
rsd says its already transfering files, it says reboot again (before phone even gets into fastboot or recovery after 1st reboot) and so on.

[Q] LG L90 D315 bricked without recovery access etc

So this is my first xda thread. I spent hours searching without finding a solution for my particular case.
I am using a LG L90 D415 (T-Mobile version) and I got bored of it and so I started playing with the system (not the first phone I'm doing that with, so I know a bit about that sutff). So I tried to install the new Android L home launcher from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2796019
I did everything like explained, installed it and changed the build.prop like described. But after I rebooted my phone, expecting a new home launcher, the phone boots, I am at the lockscreen, but after like 4 seconds I receive multiple errors (like gapps stopped working) and than everything freezes and it reboots.
Unfortunaly I didn't install a recovery or unlocked fastboot. So I can access download mode, but that's it. My computer doesn't see my phone (because usb debugging deactivated?) and so I don't know what to do. I think that's a pretty tough case but I hope some smart person can help me
Thank you

First thanks for the fast answer. So I figuered that I only need to delete the build.prop file and replace it with my backup file. Isn't there any way to rescue my files and/or access the /system folder? I'm an exchange student now and I don't wanna lose my picture memories
And btw I know that I build the perfect worst case scenario right now
Oh and in the L90 faq it says that when you flashed a recovery and you navigate to factory reset it won't reset but boot into recovery. Does something like this work even without recovery, so I could try doing stuff with adb?

If adb isn't detecting the phone, no. There isn't any other way.

Unfortunately, no.
Factory reset will not erase your sdcard. It will however erase internal data. It will return the phone to the state it was in the first time it was powered on.

[HELP] Moto X won't boot to OS after strange happenings...

Rooted, Bootloader unlocked, TWRP installed, Xposed Running. 5.0 - I did not yet update or press update ever, If I have ever accidentally allowed it to begin downloading I kill the download by deleting the file using SDMaid.
I got home, had problems with other devices, phone was on about 40% at this point. I remember hearing the phone reboot, I noticed it went into TWRP, which was strange, I restarted system > powered up > lockscreen > restart to twrp with no interaction. Phone is now getting low 21%ish. Fix permissions - because used to be the all out fix on my other devices.
Same thing again > straight into twrp.
I notice that some scripts have been ran in the twrp console. Something along the lines of Victara_en_US.zip Some red scripts I assume saying failed to update.
I assume the phone is now too low to power up.
It shows no sign of charging since leaving the last twrp reboot.
Green light in top speaker shows when attempting to power up with usb charger plugged in > nothing else happens.
With charger unplugged from phone I see my modified logo screen and the moto planet spinning before phone turns off completely. This process now repeats.
Anyone have any idea what the hell is wrong with my phone?
EDIT UPDATE:
Managed to get into the fastboot menu:
Battery Low (RED)
Device is UNLOCKED status code 3 (YELLOW)
Software status modified (YELLOW)
As normal aside from Battery...

Get your phone into TWRP and connect it to your charger and let it charge to at least 70% Use Advanced Wipe in TWRP, select Cache and wipe that. Then see if your phone will start normally. Somehow you have downloaded the update file and it is trying to run automatically. Since your phone is modified, the update fails (and nothing is updated or changed.) The update file is in /cache so wiping that should correct the problem. You should go ahead and update to the Stagefright patched version of your ROM so you aren't having to deny the factory update all the time.

Phone still boots to a black screen. I don't understand why it would download the update let alone attempt to install it, I religiously deny the update. Also why would it have booted up normally then forced itself into TWRP? :S
What can I next? I dont mind wiping using fastboot as I managed to take all my files off the phone via twrp.
This happened to me a couple times but wiping the cache AND the dalvik cache fixed it. If it still doesn't work, I hope you have a backup because you are going to have to wipe the system and data next. Sometimes these updates like to link themselves to all the phone's partitions, and in that case you should wipe everything and restore your full system and data backup in recovery.

I wiped both the first time I tried it :-/
I don't have a system backup as a far as I am aware, need to check main pc for something like that. I had a lot of trouble with no signal after changing my phone to x1095 so I could root it etc. Just hope I don't have the same trouble again. Can i reinstall the system through twrp? Or do I need to flash via fastboot?
Whats my best option, system files wise, for fixing this?

If you dont have a backup, at this point, I don't see any other options besides formatting your data or flashing the stock firmware. Of course, don't just take my word for it, but in the future just make sure you have a working backup available.

Am I able to flash anything other than the stock 5.0? Last I checked I had converted whatever I had to the x1095. I remember everything being easier on other phones...
Yes, you can, just make sure you have the right file for the job. They are usually about 2 gigs, and they take forever to flash. Note that once you flash the file, your phone will be as if you just bought it from the store, but it always will boot if you have the corresponding build.

In TWRP, make a backup now even though it may not be useful depending on what the problem is. Then, use advanced wipe in TWRP and wipe data. If the phone will boot now, something got corrupted in data and you'll just need to set your phone up again. If the problem continues, you'll have to flash your system image. How to do this varies with the model of your phone; some models have TWRP images, others need to use fastboot files. After you flash the new system image, you can either just continue to clean setup the phone, or you can try to restore only data from the backup you made previously.

Does that include 5.1 roms? I can never seem to find x1095 5.1 roms, or anything for that matter, they are all titled with every other version.

I tried wiping data to no avail.
Im trying to download stock 5.0 for now but the download is taking decades for some reason. Do you, or anyone else, recommend any roms which I can easily flash without having to worry about modem files?

Thank you for your help, as well as anyone else who helped me. I now have a running phone on 5.1.
How do I gain root from here? My superuser app updated and now tells me I have no binary, despite telling me to flash something only 5 minutes prior.

So you don't have root? I would suggest rooting using towelroot. Go online and search "towelroot" click on the first result, click on the lambda to download the apk, and install it. You can then open the app, and press "make it ra1n" to root your device without any reboot needed.
I had root prior to wiping and installing the 5.1 update that was linked to me. Towelroot gives me the phone not supported message.

Towel root does not work in 5.1.
To root just flash TWRP. Start TWRP. When you exit TWRP it will ask you if you want to root it. Simple.

I'm still in the "phone not responding" phase.. how did you manage to get in the bootloader from there? Tnx!
I found a chainfire autoroot IMG that rooted my phone. Found xposed too. I'm back at a fully working phone now, thank you to all who helped me.
Gotta say, the battery life on 5.1 is a hell of a lot better.

As in you can't get it to fastboot?
I left it to charge for a while, then took about 5 minutes attempting the power button volume button combo to restart and get it into fastboot.
I believe that it's something like:
Power + vol down until the phone screen flashes/green light goes off
Then
Still holding the power and volume down
Hold the vol up too
Then release the power still holding the vol up and down.
That's what worked for me. It's literally the most awkward phone I've had go button combos.
I think vol up from powered off works too.
If you mess up just hold the power and vol down again.
