guys I need help...
I got a galaxy note gt 7000 with LC1 kernel...brought it from finland and now using it in bangladesh.it worked fine but for some strange reason when I turned it on the samsung galaxy note gt 7000 logo appears but then the display turns black and the phone turns off...in other words it doesn't boot..
I have the android 2.6.X firmwire on it...(no costum rom)...It was rooted thoughI mean I had the stock firmware with the only difference that it was rooted with odin...
right now I can't get the phone to boot but I can get into recovery and odin mode though...
how can I fix this??I already tried searching the forum but I don't know where to start...I hope it isn't bricked...I tried every wipe data option in the recovery mode but it didn't help...
:crying:

thanks a LOT...I have some stupid question though...
it says "These all are stock ROMs and this can be flashed using PC odin without exclamation mark or raising flash counter. Read installation note at end of list"
my phone gives the exclamation mark when it turns on...does that mean that I can not install these roms??
and also I don't know which country is my phone from...I mean I don't know which exact firmware I should download...all I know is that I have the LC1 kernel, the phone was brought from finland and I am currently using it here in bangladesh...
I am so sorry is just that I don't know where to start and I am panicking right now...
No, it doesn't mean you can't flash them. It just means that if you flash them, they won't raise the flash counter and won't cause the yellow triangle to appear. You can flash them safely. If you still have the yellow triangle after flashing them then use TriangleAway to remove that triangle and reset the flash counter.

As asf58967 said, your best option is to message dr.ketan. He might be able to help you. I would have downloaded it myself and sent it to you directly but unfortunately I don't have ADSL at the moment, I'm using mobile internet.
There's another option though, you can try and download CyanogenMod9. It's only 150MBs.
Either way, good luck!

really I can use any country's firmware??so what are actually the things I should look out for when downloading a rom??the kernel??I mean what are the precautions I should be aware of before downloading a rom??
how does the cyanogen mod9 works??the thing is I need to flash my note becouse it is stuck in the boot logo...then it turns off without booting properly...is there any risk I should take into account before flashing cyanogen mod9??
No, you won't need stock ROM if you are flashing a custom ROM. Just follow the instructions very carefully. Most important of all is to flash a safe kernel to wipe. NEVER wipe using stock ICS kernel as that will brick your phone (read about emmc bug).
Flashing CM9 works like any other ROM. You download the safe kernel and flash it using Odin PC then boot into recovery to wipe data and cache. Then copy the ROM zip file to your memory card or internal storage and flash it from recovery mode.

---------- Post added at 11:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:37 PM ----------
Also you might want to know that you will lose all Touchwiz applications when you flash CM9 like S Memo and S Pen. You can flash it until you get your hands on the stock ROM later so you can use your phone now.

guys thanks a lot for the replies...
so here is the thing I can flash any rom i want into it right??
but I have to use a safe kernel...my question was can I use any a kernel that's different from the kernel that's on the phone?? (XXLC1)??
oki thanks a lot for the replies...I wil ltry the CMW mod9 way...I don't use s pen or s note anyway...I need the phone to work..
guys another question though...since my phone is stuck in the boot logo then it just turns black(the display of course)
won't this prevent me from flashing cm9 into it??I can still get into recovery mode and download mode...plus mine have a rooted gingerbread stock rom 2.3.6 that is apparently "soft bricked" or needs to be flashed...are there any other option such as cm9??I mean there are a lotta bugs in the CM9...maybe an older costum rom??should I get the safe kernel for cm9 before installing cm9??
thanks a again for all the help...
Nope. You don't need a working phone to flash ROMs and kernels. As long as recovery and download modes are working then you are fine.
Just boot into download mode and flash ANY safe kernel using Odin and then you can wipe data and flash any ROM you want from recovery.
For safe kernels, there are a couple of them. There's Notecore, speed mod and the one included with CM9 (might be speeemod, not sure). Check the forum you will find many of them.
I think you already have a safe kernel though. GB's stock kernel is safe as far as I know. But to be on the safe side, follow the instructions on CM9's site to the letter and you will have a working phone.

TANKS A LOT FOR THE REPLIES YOU GUYS ARE SAVING MY A*S...I love this forum I'm new but I love the help I am getting thanks much apreciated!!
SPEEDMOD AMD NOTECARE ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH CM9. if you have speedmod or notecore installed cm9 will NOT boot
you need a non touchwiz kernel
you can download the cm9 kernel from this link... Have the cm9 zip ready to flash on the sdcard and run it. It is safe to wipe without worry about hardbrick omce cm9 kernel is insyalled.

the "[GUIDE] Which Kernels are Safe/Unsafe to Wipe and Flash from" post says GB kernel is safe...I have GB kernel....but the thing is I want to install CriskeloRomNOTE. v7 and in the post it says
"CriskeloRom Note V7 No Wipe
LINK
CriskeloRomNOTE.v7-MD5-5F1906B96CA2380265104AC12D7EEF5C.zip
NOTE CriskeloRom V7
• Rom No Wipe (not erase your data)
• Kernel 4.1 AbyssNote
• Full support for BLN
• New and improved dialpad
• More wallpapers in the stock application
• Repaired, Select Wallpapers
• Jkay v13.5.1 + Spanish
• Improved response when an application
• More things that I remember and all of the previous version"
so basically it says kernel 4.1 abyssnote...does that mean that I have to install such kernel to flash this rom??
also what does "No wipe" means??that if I wipe data before flashing will it brick my phone??
I am sorry i these questions may seem stupid and very bugging I just don't want to take chances before flashing...thanks again for all the help though!!
Abyssnote is a GB based safe kernel. You cam flash that. Abyss is safe to wipe from and so is your stock gb kernel. Just do notwipe if you are on a 4.0 based kernel that is not a safe kernel. All kernels in the post i did above are safe. All gb kernels are safe to wipe in. It just says no wipe because it doesnt require one if going from certain other roms. You shoukd wipe if you choose that rom...
Flash it with pc odin with a wipe... So long as your not on ICS based kernel the wipe itsrlf should not brivk you..

Yes, but after you need to do factory reset and wipe cache in order to eliminate leftover stuff as most gb are nonwipe.
You can do this from recovery.

AllianceRom is testing every bit to see if they cause hardbrick/superbrick.They release roms only if they are safe .I have been using darkyrom a.k.a alliance rom from my sgs days
Read all the threads very carefully in order to choose the right method of returning to GB. It is very important to know exactly what is currently running on your device and what was running before and how you flashed the last rom.
I bricked mine two weeks ago while doing this....coming from official ICS. After a full wipe it was over and out.

I think the safest method to going back if anything not works properly is:
1. Going back to GB:
Flash thru pc odin ** Look for the thread: STOCK ODEX PRE ROOTED ROMs and Flash: 3*Files Wipe N7000XXLC1_N7000OXALC1 Open Europe (02/03/2012). (here you will be fine all OK in 2.3.6)
then look for the thread of dr. ketan to get more info on how to install: [STOCK ROMS] N7000 All stock ROMs + install + Root guide All at 1place,Latest ICS LP9 T
After that:
2. Install ics N7000XXLPY_N7000OXALPY_N7000XXLPT_HOME.tar.md5 via mobile odin
3. reboot
4. flash kernel cf-root lpy via mobile odin
5. wipe cache and dalvyk cache..... Let reboot.
YOU'RE NOW IN STOCK ROM ICS FULL ROOTED AND CWM.
r thr ny chances of th ics bug being sirted out in near future?
is thr ny ics rom or vl thr b in th near future which dosent require abyss kernel or cf root kernel?

It will most like need a mmc chip firmware update, not sure if they can do that in a new rom or if at all.
Last news I read was this was already there on the first ICS device, the Nexus, Samsung updated the onboard chips firmware. (source hearsay, I think reliable)
Why samsung would choose to market defective firmware on newer phones is a mystery. Makes the hearsay less likely, but from the crap I have seen in any industry, its not that amazing this happens mwahahahah
Hi all,
I'm running one of the AOSP roms and I have CWM Recovery. I've decided I've had enough of playing with custom ROMS because none of them have ever delivered. Please tell me how I can go back to a stock ROM.

Download a file from Dr. Ketan development thread and flash it with Odin.
Really easy. I too just went to rooted stock. It more stable and battery great. Haven't restart my phone in a week. No crash. I'm on stock LQ3 rom.

I am currently on CM9 rom and want to go back to stock ics for a while. I will want to return to CM at a later date.
Can I do this safely?

I want to go back to GB but I don't know how to. I am currently running LPY ICS and an unsafe kernal, reading these huge threads just makes me even more confused to be honest.
I have Mobile ODIN PRO - is there an easy and safe way to get back using this?
Guys please observe basic forum etiquette and start your own thread if you have an unrelated question. I wouldn't hijack your thread.
I'm already on an AOSP ICS ROM (one of the unofficial versions). How do I flash back to stock safely? How do I get rid of CWM?
Thanks
Guys on the AOSP/CM9 ROM----flash a stock GB ROM via PC Odin.
The guy with the LPY ICS use PC Odin too.

There is no "safe ICS stock" currently---all ICS stock kernels have the brickbug.
Best way is to go to stock GB and then via OTA---that way you can get samsung warranty service if you mess up and your phone gets bricked.Alternatively, search around in the forum for stock ICS ROMs-there ought to be a few in the dev/general section. And "where there is a rom, there is info about flashing it"

basically i want to root my note, get CWM recovery onto it, and then flash whatever ROM/s i choose, without getting my phone bricked in the process.
i want someone to advise me on the best way to go about this whole thing, thankyou!
my device:
Samsung galaxy note (not sure if international or not, i bought from kogan.com.au, i live in australia, and have a telstra sim in it, however i think kogan ships the intl model)
android version: 4.0.3 ICS (stock)
baseband: N7000XXLPT
KERNEL VERSION: 3.0.15-N7000XXLPY-CL474507
BUILD NUMBER: IML74K.XXLPY
carrier: telstra (prepaid, and phone is unlocked)
the main confusion i have here is finding the correct threads for my kernel version, however i couldnt find what i wanted, and was unsure of which was safest, so thanks all for helping me out!

Hello Good Dr. I am about to try rooting via method 1.Rooting with stock recovery. After this am i correct in saying I should flash notecore kernel ? I would be using Mobile Odin to do this as I dont have Windows PC.
What would be safest method to get to ParanoidAndroid JB or CM10 JB from there ? After the Kernel is flashed. Would I have to downgrade to pre-rooted GB rom first then flash ParanoidAndroid ? So your method 1 > flash kernel > downgrade to pre-rooted GB rom > ParanoidAndroid ?
Kind Thanks.
If you want to downgrade to prerooted rom then no need to get root, except you have no option to use pc. In this condition just root n use mobile odin to flash prerooted rom. After successful flashing wipe cache n data and flash cusyom ROM.

After flashing note core.you can.flash custom rom if that is ics based.
Otherwise i recommend to flash preroored gb rom first and wipe all (cache, data and delvic cache)

I have read a lot but I'm still a bit confused...
Hello dear friends,
I'm just a newbie here, so please be patient ...
1) I'm planning to root+CWM my n7000 and also (and finally) want to flash CM9.1 (stable) on it. Right now I'm on GB 2.3.6 (not directly rootable) it's ZSLA2... for what I understand from Dr. Ketan's rooting guide is that I have to first downgrade the device flashing a pre-rooted+CWM'ed GB ROM from Chainfire..... ok, no problem.... but, my main question is: once I already have this pre-rooted gingerbread rom, can I (must I) do a hard reset/wipe prior to flash a custom rom?... and, can I FINALLY and DIRECTLY flash the CM9.1 + Gapps files from that chainfire's gingerbread rom version/kernel?... or do I have to upgrade again to a new GB ROM and then flash the CM?.... or even further: do I have to upgrade to a newer GB ROM then to an ICS ROM and only then I would can flash the CM file??....
2) The obligated dumb question: Once I finally flash CM9.1 ROM, it's a must (or a recommended practice) to flash a safe kernel like Franco, Speedmod, Notecore (for safety and/or performance)??
Thank you for your time! cheers

1. always advisable to do all three wipes ( data , cache, dalvik) in CWM if you are on GB and planning to flash another rom from there.
--- yes, you can directly go from pre-rooted Gb to CM 9.1 with g apps
--- when you are on CM and want to go to a custom ics then best to follow the method specified in opening post of the rom thread by developer. all CM kernels are safe to wipe and flash from generally...
2 . Franco , notecore, speedmod are all Touchwiz kernels. a CM rom will not boot with it, its not compatible.there are other CM kernels available that you can use with it, refer kernel repository by Chasmodo

TW and Cm roms have varied/different and many simillar features
you must read through the rom threads for identifying them and choose your rom accordingly
I'm sorry if this question has been answered before, but I couldn't find it by searching.
I'm running 4.0.4 rooted, and would like to unroot it since I have to take my Note to be fixed on warranty. I rooted with temporary CWM and because it's considered to be dangerous now, can I run the Unroot_SuperUser-Busybox-Uninstaller-Update2-signed.zip from Dr. Ketan's root/unroot thread from stock recovery ?
Just wanted to make sure before I do anything stupid. And yes, I know I could flash to stock GB, wipe and flash to stock ICS but if I could unroot straight from recovery it would be a lot easier. Thanks in advance.
Yes you can, but remember if you have flashed custim kernel then first replace with stock. As well if you have update supersu from market, then first uninstall that from setting -appl -all

No special preparation is required as such, download stock kernel for your rom from here and then flash either using mobile odin or k-tools.
You can also extract the zimage from the GB firmware file (if you have already downloaded it) and then flash zimage using MO or ktools.

There is nothing to understand, those are the kernels, download the one which matches your rom build and flash it. what is the build of your rom? (send it on PM if you want)
Also, no need to write thanks, there is a "thanks" button for that.

i have the stock kernel on my pc desk top,but should i do any thing in case i want to go back to stock kernel?
hey guys...
Not to confuse the OP here but I would suggest (to the OP), to JUST REFLASH BACK YOUR STOCK Gingerbread ROM in PC ODIN... that's all. you'll get your ROM and your stock kernel back.... it's much easier and much less hassle on the OP part to just reflash back his stock GB (to get back his stock kernel), rather than just extracting the stock kernel process... this makes the OP more confused). And besides.... reflashing back a stock GB would not take about 5 minutes tops right?? (rather than delving and instructing him on the other lengthy process which might confused him even more and might got him to more errors or mistakes in the long run).

great, but the reflashing the rom will not wipe any thing?
Dose re-flashing the same rom will wipe all the data and app?

It depends, if you choose wipe version then it will wipe everything and if it is a non-wipe rom then everything will remain intact
Best is to backup all apps/data using titanium backup and then flash the rom.
thanks jeetu
but what is the way to know wether the rom is wiper or not?

I read somewhere that all firmwares in dr.ketan's thread are non wipe, I am not sure if it was for ICS only or for both, check with Dr.ketan about it.
Yes all ics rom in my thread is non wipe, but gb rom are wipe and non wipe,
You may find tag along with ROM detail in some cases. But if you want to confirm it before flashing, just extract. tar file 1 level deep, if data.img file is there, then it is wipe rom.

download a "non wipe" rom from dr.ketans thread and intstall.. all ur apps will be intact
thanks to all of you
Hi everyone i have bought a second hand galaxy note n7000 which has a custom rom already installed on it
Android version
4.0.3
Baseband version
N7000DXLP5
Kernel version
3.0.15-franco.Kernel
[email protected] #3
SMP PREEMPT Fri May 25 20:33:33 WEST 2012
Build number
KingDroid ICS NoteMania Edition v2.0
i am wanting to go back to its original ics stock rom when the phone was first bought, how do i go about doing this, just to note i have
experience with rooting & flashing of roms but i just want to make sure i do it the best & correct way any help would be appreciated
Download the stock rom GB ot ics.
put the phone in download mode
connect to pc.
Open odin and select the rom file in pda
flash it
if u decide to go to gb.. then u can do a factory reset from recovery
if u chose ics, then u will need to install a safe kernel first before a factory wipe.
As it's second hand, once you're on rom of choice with rooted kernel, it may be worth installing the following app to check emmc for any possible damage:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.vinagre.android.emmc_check

done that & there is no damage
yes.. use pc odin.
May be worth doing full wipes before flashing while you're on safe kernel.
