Nexus 7 Issues and Fixes Thread - Nexus 7 General

Not all of these fixes are recommended. Please understand that you can damage your N7 even more than what it was before. Read all the way through to make sure you know the problems it can cause because only you are responsible if you break it. I recommend sending it in for a repair. The bottom RMA link is where to start. Keep in mind almost all of these threads end with everyone sending theirs in for repair. Please post any issues and/or fixes you have and I'll update as needed. That way we have a one-stop thread for issues so everyone doesn't have to search.

How To Start The RMA Process For A Repair

Can we make this the official place to post all of the problems? That way we can find new topics without going through 5 different screen fixes?

As a new N7 owner, thank you for this thread! I'm getting it in the mail in a couple days and this basically just provided me with my list of things to check so I can RMA it immediately if it's a dud.

Really useful thread

physical keyboard problems

on my physical keyboard on my tilt some of the keys are not very responsive...they dont have good tactile feedback when you push on them. it really came to my attention when i worked on one of my co-workers tilt and his had a lot better feedback...dont know if its fixable or not?? ideas?
Sometimes it amazes me on what people will post now days.
Either send it in for service or get a new keyboard and replace it.
that's funny it amazes me that there are still people out there (such as yourself) who take the time to post a worthless reply...and you are shocked at my post...
think you should step back and think before you post.
and just so you know i did have a replacment sent to me but it felt the same as mine so i sent it back. FYI we have about 6 tilts in my office i've checked 2 of them and there is a definite difference in the feel.
Are you expecting a cab fix for worn out keys? Seriously?
You're complaining about the feel of your keyboard, so what do you expect from anyone here? It's not a software problem, and your not happy with a hardware fix, what else is there?

Not to beat a dead horse or prolong this thread, but I agree and I will try to be nice,. If you don't like your phone, the feel , the speed , the camera, the video playback and the hundreds of whines about the tilt, then get a new phone. The waste of time time here is not the response, it is the fact that much of this forum has turned into the weiner whiner line.
I love my Tilt, it is the best phone I have ever had and I have had a lot. If you don't like HTC or your phone, get a new one, nice and simple.
starting to wish i never posted this...
I love my tilt. no, i'm not expecting a software fix. (even though at&t had me reboot my phone in attempt to fix it) yes i would be happy with a hardware fix...its just the replacement phone i got was the same.
if you have access to more than one device try a couple of them out see if you can notice the difference in keyboards (my co-workers can, and they can tell that mine has some issue)
what i was hoping for was someone who is aware of what i'm talking about and could say yea...take your phone a part and do this to fix it...instead im getting this (see above)
who ever is in charge feel free to kill this thread because it's going no where fast!!!!
Per request thread closed. You can replace the keyboard if you want, though personally i'd pay someone to do that for you rather than trying it yourself if it's that big an issue. You could also try a warranty replacement if you're eligible.
Side Note: Senior members and should know better than to go around harrassing noobs with silly questions. It is the job of those who know more to educate those who know less. If you choose to not be helpful then it is much better to say nothing. No need to create drama where there wasn't any. Just a reminder to all.

[Q] Loud Popping/"Gunfire" sound on CM9

Hi all,
I just installed CM9 on my Touchpad earlier today, and whenever I try to perform ANY task with sound (e.g. typing on the keyboard, receiving a notification, playing music, etc.), I hear a loud, sharp series of static-filled pops, almost like the sound of gunfire on one of the old G.I. Joe tanks I played with as a kid.
I've searched multiple forums, but couldn't find any specific issues such as this. Everything else seems to be working well so far, I just don't know if it's something I can potentially fix, if I should reflash, or if I totally messed something up!
FWIW, the Touchpad was jailbroken before, but I don't think that matters for a different partition.(?)
- Anyway, the tablet is running CM build 9-20120329 Nightly tenderloin (Build# IML74K)
Thanks in advance for any help!

To say you searched and found no info is pretty much a lie since it's a well documented issue some Touchpads have with audio.... If the last few nightly ROMs don't fix it then you have one of those Touchpads that is just gonna have issues

You are foolish. Dead stupid, in fact. I searched, and unless you'd like to link it up, the "documented" audio issues involve audio not working, speaker/headset confusion, and static or distortion occurring especially when the screen shut off. NOTHING about not working at all.
I fixed it on my own, but not with thanks to you. Since calling you a douchebag could violate forum rules, I'll simply state that your attitude would be symptomatic of having the personality of a douche.
And I got it fixed by myself, by the way. Clown.

Cdzo.... How have you not been banned yet. I've yet to see you do anything but put people down in the touchpad section. For someone who claims numerous times to never have been spoonfed anything and always finds solutions on their own.. You don't seem to know a whole heck of a lot.
Anyhow, have you tried doing a clean install? Wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache/dalvik or try another ROM?

And if you're going to use nightly builds I would suggest going with a more recent one.. I have no issues with the latest.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using XDA
I would suggest that you use the latest nightly build to... if you're still experiencing the error after flashing. Then I suggest that you use webos doctor to format the touchpad and reinstall cm9 without any MODS. (Have you applied the Mic Fix?)

Yeah you know a lot too dontcha... especially since you suggested go with a recently nightly just like I did.
Why have I not been banned? That's easy! I haven't cursed or flamed anyone! I merely call it like it is. Just like those that tell me not to read the newbie posts that clutter the forum, my advice to the rest of you is the same... if you don't like what I have to say to a post then don't read it. Just like the newbie thinks they can post without putting forth some effort then I think I can respond what the VAST majority of the more experienced would like to say but don't dare or just don't have the time.

although if you followed the 'advice' of others about not posting that kind of stuff...it would have a bigger effect than you telling others not to read your post. i'm not suggesting you to be banned....but leave the moderating to the mods....im sure one day they'll get fed up of the same threads being made again and again and again and decide to put their foot down. Till then just offer advice without the bluntness. at the end of the day it's not like you're hosting xda that all these threads are taking up your server space and you end up paying more, so chill out
its not like what you're saying is total bs (unlike countless others ive seen)....there are other ways to say it though and yours isn't really a good way. That's how i call it, regardless of what others are saying for you to be banned for just pointing out that someone's done something SLIGHTLY wrong (albeit with some anger)

czdo, I'm waiting for the link to the specific problem that I was having. Since your searching prowess is vastly superior to mine, it shouldn't be a problem for you. Unless you really are just trying to be a jerk. Prove someone wrong or get off the pot.
This is me, a n00b, calling you out.
Thank you to the two others who suggested the latest nightlies. I had seen that the build I used had few reported problems other than Wifi, so I tried that first before I went to anything newer!

Back Button Issue - Hardware Defect!

I am letting all Note 4 users that have a back button issue know why. This is not many, but I did find this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/help/capacitive-button-sensitivity-t2911753
But because that thread started with about being with AT&T, when in fact, it is a general Note 4 issue, I started a thread in this section.
So it isn't a general Note issue, it's just a manufacturing defect on a very limited number of devices.
Hardly a clarion call that all Note 4 owners need to pay attention to.
Regards,
Dave
A manufacturing defect.... Thanks for all your help!
It isn't nice to make fun of someone who is only trying to help others. When I had this issue, I couldnt find anyone else having this problem so it was confusing as to why it wasn't working and if it was just how I was doing it. This forum section said only to not post a question, which this isn't.
If you can read, I said it was for people who had this issue, not All note 4 people. I bet you also made fun of those other people who had a thread subject in this forum that didnt apply to everyone, didn't you?
Get a life!
On the 2 Note 4s I've had I needed to press harder than I did on my GS4. It's not a huge issue and it seems like a lot of Note 4s are this way and people just may not notice. I am also running a glass screen protector though, which makes it even less sensitive. But again, not a deal breaking issue. Now the screen inconsistencies, that's annoying as hell.

"Like you all" strongly suggests that the entire Note 4 community was experiencing this issue, which clearly they are not.
I'm sure your intentions were laudable, but you didn't really clearly communicate in your OP what you later clarified.

Proof proof its a junk tool Lg up lg Bridge all junk

This is it my final remarks waisting my Time in a Lg forum
Lg bridge tool Is not a brick fix tool as suggested It needs a device to be in MTP modeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!
Update error recovery to fix a brick is untrue anyone who said they had a locked boot loader and only download mode and fixed there g4 with update error recovery has no idea that there phone was in that exact state !
Lg up junk
Lg bridge junk
Lg flash tool used to be good but it was thrown out for junk
I'm going to list 3 photos proving all this and that drivers are connected
Nothing but a run around with Posts and Pm's So sick of this run around especially from recognized devs who are tied to being the creators of these flash tools and have the simple answer to my dilemma but wont give it ....and I'll likely get the answer from a random XDA member and no its not a RMA !

I'm not surprised no one has really attempted to help you. You are very demanding, it's no one's job here to be your personal help desk.
All your issues are pointing to driver problems, but you seem to enjoy being combative instead of fixing the problem. I had the same exact problem as you with a friend's G4. The post linked in your other thread is what I followed. Perhaps you should stick with stock ROMS and not flash anything if you are unable to troubleshoot problems.
Okay,in every phone and every thread, it simply states and i quote "i am not responsible if you brick your device and choose to flash things on your phone,do at your own risk" so..whats the issue here? Your mad and blaming other devs because they cant fix what you did to your phone? Your mad because the LG tool cant fix what you did to your own phone? Tough luck bud,you chose to tamper with it so you have nobody to blame but yourself.
And i suggest to the forum moderator to please close this thread as you are posting multiple threads of the same topic.

I was kind in the beginning about it . And I've contributed on multiple device threads . So im not butt hurt about any of it .I'm not like the 50% of Mr know it alls on here .If I have a issue I'm willing to talk about it . Its about the fact that people can help people over the stupidest issues ,but they can't on a subject matter of importance. Just repetitive pointers about drivers drivers drivers .And the tough guy bashing over the screen I was waiting for that at some point . Phases me little to none seen it for years .

Shame on you oneplus 3 reviewers

To all you oneplus 3 reviewers out there will you bother?*to address the bugs and issues being faced by users of Oneplus 3 in your videos and articles???
Numerous Examples of issues can be found on xda forums and Oneplus official forums.

I can paste another hundred links to this list
To add to the misery of some who purchased the phone, the oneplus team is not even confirmimg if they will be providing a fix to all those issues and bugs being faced on their device
I need all of you to raise your concerns and ask the reviewers to include these issues in their reviews by updating them and forcing oneplus team to fix these issues as soon as possible.
Edited: This thread does not target any specific person so let's be respectful to each other and avoid personal attacks.
A list of mostly minor ROM problems.
Sit down and wait for updates.
How many bugs did S7 have when it was released?
How many bugs did iPhone 6SE/iOS 9 have when it was released?
When was the last time you wrote to Samsung/Apple support and they confirmed anything about fixing a problem you were having?
I agree that poor ram management, poor video audio, nonfunctional OIS in 1080p ahold have easily been spotted by reviewers. It's disappointing that we found out about these things after paying for the device.

Agree to your post, but the issues being faced are of the level that they are not allowing a proper daily use of the phone like i am not gettinf push notifications when the phone is standby causing to miss emails and messages.
And sometimes the phone goes completely silent and does not ring causing to miss phone calls n messages
Now these are basics of a phone.. other issues could have been avoided. have you faced such issues with other phones?
I look at OnePlus 3 purchase like buying a new car. You test drive it, initially everything seems perfect and them specs (under the hood) is irresistible. Sometime you have a recall or new programming (updates) and certain things you don't like (example like that rattle in the trunk that won't go away) that will be never be fixed or covered. (No updates). At this point, I am just glad we have xda (who will come up with these fixes-like rattle) modifications and that it's not a lemon.
