Everytime I go on Call Logs, tap on the number and hit the message symbol, it doesn't transfer the number at all to the text message app. It will only work if I have already texted that same number, but if its a new number it will not transfer. This does get quite annoying at times having to keep going back to the call logs to remember the number.
Was there an update for this yet. ive been waiting for an update for this rom for quite a while now.

This is really weird, but when I was messing around with Darch's 2.1 ROM I got a voicemail so I dialed 1 to listen to it. Instead of going to Sprint it said "Welcome to Virgin Mobile's voicemail system. If you want to use SMS Voicemail to check your inbox press 1". I didn't know what that meant, so I pressed 1. Ever since, whenever someone leaves a voicemail message I don't get a normal voicemail notification, or a Visual voicemail notification...instead I get a SMS that says "(insert person's phone number) has left you a voicemail. Call (Some random phone number) to check it.
I don't know how to undo it! I wan't my voicemail notifications, and my visual voicemail to work! I Nandroided back to Fresh 1.1, and it still does the same thing. I think that means it's must be something on Sprint's network.
Does anyone have any experience with, or know anything about this, and how I can fix it?
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

i had done the same thing.. and one of two things i did got it working again.. 1 was going into settings and Update Profile.. and the other was forwarding one of my previous voicemails to my self..
let me know which one works for you!
how exactly did you forward a message to yourself? I can't figure this out!
go to voicemail.. then open the message you want to forward and press the menu key. You will see a bar come up and select forward. Enter your phone number as you want to forward the message to yourself.

If you don't have any.. just compose a new message.. Voicemail>Press Menu>Compose..

DUDE!! Thank you SOOOO much!! I didn't have any old voicemails, but I clicked menu, and there was the option to create one, so I created one and selected myself as the recipient, and it actually went through! I just tested leaving a regular voicemail from my wife's phone to mine and it worked. You're a genius! Major props. Thanks so much...cuz that was getting thoroughly annoying
Glad I could help! I wasn't sure which of the two things I did actually fixed the issue.. Thanks for verifying that's what does the trick!
I have tried to search for an answer, but can't find any using the search criteria I tried, so please don't blast me if I am asking something that has been answered, just point me in the right direction.
I just got my Captivate today, and am having problems with some texts. I have sent several texts today which went fine, but when I send to one contact it returns error message to use 10 numbers. When I look in at her contact it is in there as 10 numbers 111-222-3333, but when I click on send message it only brings up 222-3333. My other contacts are formatted the same way, but when I click on send message it brings in all 10 numbers, or +1-111-222-3333. I have used Unleash the beast to root etc, but this happened before and after I did this so is not related. Is there some specific format for the number that I am missing?
I notice since Froyo, the Call log now records even SMS received and send. This makes for a long and messy log if you do a lot of texting.
I only want the Call Log to show calls but the "View as" menu only have separate options for calls received, made and miss. There is no way to view all calls.
Is there a hack or settings somewhere I missed out? Or alternatively, can we disable the logging of sms totally?
same question as above..
the reason i registered to this forum is only this, its very annoying,
there must be a fix or android must fix this, sometimes i miss my iphone call list, where there is not an endless list with both recieved, called and sms, worst is that its not imbedded within each contact.
if that was possible then i can manage to have the sms log in there to.
and why not have the option of having both recieved, called and missed in the same settings.. doesnt make sense at all..
im sorry for this to be first post, i a total noob when it comes to coding for android, which i intend to learn..
thank you for a great forum btw..
i hope there will be a fix to this

I would like to have a fix for this too. The call log gets extremely long.
since froyo upgrade i am having the same issue. whts the use of logging text msgs anyways.. it gets recorded on its own thread. Me and my gf text a lotttt. now if i want to call someone from my history logs.. i cant simply find them cuz i have to scroll down 500 msgs to find that number.. there shud be fix for this thing..
Still no fix eh?
I tried selecting one of the options, such as "dialed calls" and it works... until you close the log and then try to make another call, and it all comes back to the same story... wtf android?

I apologize if this has been asked/resolved before, but I searched the forums and google quite a bit to no avail. I have found other instances of people with this issue but have not found a resolution yet.
Every time I receive a single text message, I get a notification on the unlock screen that says I have 2 texts. When I unlock the phone and pull down the notification area, it lists the 2 texts. One of the texts is the actual text i just received and I can access it just fine. The other text listed is a text from weeks ago that has long been deleted, including the entire thread it was in. This ghost text will not go away.
I can clear the notifications and it goes away, but as soon as I receive another text from anyone, it pops up there again. I have tried some other solutions that popped up on google. These were to download the SMS Cleaner app and search by keyword. Upon doing this, the app does not find any texts with the keywords from the ghost text.
I have also tried replying to the text to create a new thread and maybe try to delete it again, but even when the new thread is created/deleted the ghost text comes back.
I also turned off/on text notifications several times also combined with power cycling the phone, which did not solve this either.
Note: This text was from a room alert system in our server room at work. It sends email alerts that we then have converted to text message and sent to our phones.
Not sure if it being an email has anything to do with it, but I have received these alerts several times before without any of them getting stuck.
My phone is still on 2.1 and was rooted using Unleash the Beast.
Anyone have the same problem, or any ideas? Is there a folder that holds texts somewhere in the root file system that I can clean out?
Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to give as much detail about the problem as possible, this has been annoying me for weeks.
Try deleting the email alert? Just spitballing...
This happened to me last night!
I keep getting the same Ghost Txt message
The only way i can think to get rid of it would be a Data Reset.
But i dont wanna erase my whole phone cuz of a software issue that may happen again!
Have u fixed it?
No, still no luck on this. Anyone have any ideas?
I had a problem similar to this with the dumb phone that i had before my Captivate. I called AT&T customer support because I didn't want to reset my phone and they got it resolved. Apparently there was a message stuck in their server marked as unread, but since it had been read on my phone it said 0 new messages. This might work for you, too?
Solved
Open the spot where notifications are read the phone number and send a text to it, it will open the message thread and you can delete it there
I recently updated to the latest nightly of cyanogemod and then my Swype keyboard expired
anyways I noticed the second the swype keyboard expired I couldn't send out any sms. So I tried to switch out keyboards to the default android one... same deal can't send message out.
Did research and found out about getting into the SMSC settings of the phone and updating it with tahe service center number in PDU format.
I did that and go through all the steps of entering .... hit update .... either restart the phone or turn the radio on/off .... then hit refresh to see if the new smsc was saved.
Mine never saves no matter how many times I do it.
I've been tthrough a ton of forum posts and the process isn't rocket science.
Someone help me out here I need sms functionality or I might as well chuck my gt-n7000 out the window.
FYI the number that keeps popping up is this
"312314981",129
I have no idea what that is but that number keeps popping up.
I'm on AT&T (East coast if that matters) FYI.
Appreciate it
