I was sent a new AT&T Vivid in the mail, so it came preloadex with ICS. I unlocked the bootloader, and now I keep getting "Android is updating" on every boot with an item list... And it wont go away. What is causing this?
So you are stuck in a boot loop with the stock ics ?
No not at all, it happens right after boot screen animation.
Before actual OS.
BUT... it ticks away the items till 30 or 40 then boots in like nothing is wrong.

After it boots, the phone seems to operate normally. Weird, eh? Does it every boot.
Try and reflash the stock rom aka ruu , but in order to you will need.to relock the boot loader
---------- Post added at 11:33 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:31 AM ----------
Ok so I re read that so it does finally boot in the is ?
I was planning in flashing a non-factory ROM at some point, would that resolve it?
yes if its getting stuck on the updating screen then i would relock and run the ruu it usally fixes any errors , then just go back and unlock the bl and cont. what you need to do ,
the tool kit will make your process much easier .
I think you may have missed where I stated it is NOT getting stuck on that screen. It ticks away the 40 or some odd items, such as in the above image where it says "Optimizing applications 18 of 52"..... it starts at 1 and once it gets to 52 it boots into ICS as normal. I am now typing this from the phone. Does this make sense?
I don't understand why I would want (or need) to relock the bootloader or even how unlocking the bootloader caused this in the first place, because my phone was *shipped* to me with ICS. I am still running the factory ROM image, all I did was unlock the bootloader with the token generating tool on the HTC website.
It really isn't affecting my use currently, I just want to understand why it happened, and if it will have an affect on things when I go to a cooked ROM.
Does this make more sense?
Yes I got that but that is a normal stock ics screen , the only way to change it that I know of is flash a coustom Rom.
Ohhhhhhhh..... wow, that's *normal*? That's.... weird. But okay!
I won't worry about it until I choose a custom ROM. Thanks for the help
Sorry I didn't get ya at first that part about " won't go away " kept sticking in my head lol ,
some roms have different options for the boot screen .
good luck man have fun with ya device .
Flash a deodexed Rom (any of the flashable ones here) and you will never see the android is upgrading again (unless you manually wipe cache/dalvic)
Android is upgrading is something that is implemented in stock ics...esentkally every time you reboot it wipes cache or something for smoothness...with a deodexed Rom this no longer happens

Hi !
I flashed my phone to CM7 today, after that i wanted to flash MIUI..
That didnt work out, so i flashed back to standard to repeat the rooting and flashing to a slim rom..
Now i have an LG Logo flashing through my background, has anyone experienced this ?
If so, pleeeeease tell me there is a fix for it
Dont get it. Screenshot, picture or video?
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
No no, when i boot my phone you see the LG Logo..
Now when im in Android (stock launcher etc) i see the same logo flashing on my background..
Its hardly visible but i see it...
Weird stuff.... changed background yet!

Sorry to dissapoint you, but thats not it
I think its gone now though, after a few (read as 20/30) reboots....

I'm guessing no1 else saw this, but my experience was it went away by itself after a few reboots. Testing i'm fairly sure it was from pulling the cable while the lg+face image was still on screen after the baseband was flashed successfully.
Nothing to really worry about imho.

You see the same thing when accessing the phone through a VNC server using the framebuffer. You don't see the desktop here though, just the LG logo.
It's because Tegra does not use the framebuffer to display things. But somehow in your case the framebuffer DID get displayed in the background... somehow?!
it is gone after about 10 reboots
This happend to me a couple of times. When im going back to stock rom thats when its happening but it dissapears after a couple of restarts
Just wanted to report that I just got the same artifact after updating to baseband 0405. Still panicking... Hope it goes away...
EDIT: Seems to be resolved after 2 reboots and/or brightness change.
I'm having the same problem after upgrade to the leaked V20o. I tried to restore to V20m and the issue still continued. I tried to restore to V10f and I still have problem.
I rebooted the phone more than 20 times and nothing.
Does anyone know how to solve this??

dear xda members
i own a galaxy tab for six months. the first time i got it, it was locked to Orange (Europe) under froyo 2.2, but i unlocked it to make it work here in Algeria.
sometimes it get locked by it self after a reboot! something i did notice after one month, and then it repeatedly hapen every week or so, then i decided to get stock gingerbread jq1 (i do like custom roms but i prefer using my device with stock system) because i thought it will wipe the system and let no trace of Orange crap, suddenly i was wrong, because it keep showing me Orange in the satut bar (at least one time per day) along with my provider (Djezzy), when it hapen, the phone force close all active applications and i lose signal for a while, until its gone and got back my provider signal.
please help, any suggestion is very welcome, even if it is a custom rom (a stable one)
thanks
You can try Hyperdroid. It has SIM unlock build into the boot up.
It is more stripped down compared to JQ1 or Overcome.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1444240
D.O.C is a senior moderator here now, and doesn't have time developing this ROM further but it is stable.
I use his RedPill 2.0.1 kernel before.
Hope it works for you.
There are other ways to customise unlocking into your JQ1 but I have not seen the details on how to do it.

i have fond a temporary solution for my problem, so after changing many times my nv_data.bin, trying to unlock it and get rid of orange who comes every hour or tow, i decided to take another step and i made a backup of my efs before erasing it completely, getting ride of efs let android generate a new efs without any trace of my oem, the thing you lose here is you imei code, because the new efs contains a different imei!
any way, i dont have to worry about orange any more
If I helped you, please press the thanks button
the problem that happend to my device is :
1- my note was about to turn off cause no much battery left . i was working on the device without suffering from any problem . and then my phone turned off because the battery is drained so i put my phone on the charger quickly and pressed the power button and surprised because it was updating my android system. a picture describing the beginning of the problem

the phone stucks at that picture ^^ without any completion . i started to think about givin' up ! ( like someone bout to die lol ). so then i removed the battery for a couple of minutes cause i thought that pop-up would disappear after what i've done . but after restarting my phone that update pop-up showed up again . i tried again .. but the same ting happen . so i decided to try PLAN B .
2- so here i tried a couple of tries to restart . and finally the update message disappeared and the is stuck at the start up screen!!! without any response. i decided to enter the recovery mode . but it didn't work ! i saw an android robot for seconds and then restarts automatically ! . so i'm thinkin about step 3 righ' now .
3- at this point . i decided to install an another rom which is JellyBean 4.1.2. my phone originally working on official jellybean 4.1.2 also with root . after i tried installing the rom through ODIN . the install failed . i noticed that my phone is identitfied by my computer but the battery is not
charging . i tried to install 4.0.3 but also failed! and then tried gingerbread! and it also didn't work. and that's what happening right now
any solution guys ? i really would appreciate your help .
now that you have tried so many different versions of android... try installing Philz kernel using odin and then try to get into recovery mode. If you are able to, then make a full wipe "Clean before new rom install" in Philz recovery and then either install a custom rom or boot into download mode from advanced menu and flash the rom again
Hello new friends.
My little brother and his inventive mind were messing around with his phone and this started to show up:

(btw, I tried what it says on the screen.. did nothing.. also trying to flash a new rom did nothing)
I know little about Motorola phones and rooting in general... all i can do is "root" samsung with silly Odin software (easymode right?)
I gave the phone to a friend and after some examination he said that somehow my little brother managed to "delete and/or corrupt" the phones main partition. whatever that means... He was unable to do a hard reset because at some point the phone said there was a problem with one of the partitions.
Now.. while I dont know much about android and motorola, im great following directions.
is there a humanly possible way to fix this?
I can get to this menu below, but everything I touch goes back to bootloader message:
Additional info with numbers mumblejumble:
Thanks in advance,
Dan.

as I understand it this is only the bootloader unlocked, the phone works regularly only that at the time the alert you. There are two ways to avoid this annoying message:
1 relock the bootloader
2 use an alternative screen that hides the annoying warning.
before re-locking take a deep DELETE and uses a script to reload a ROM from scratch
Find it all on xda !!!! look!
I unlocked my new Zenfone8. then I had flashed the new E-OS system. and somehow I put it in my pocket wrong, and now the phone doesn't tell me it's unlocked! and it only goes to the green START screen Can someone help me?
How can I unlock the bootloader again? I would love to be able to bring it back to its original state!

So.. you got a NEW Zenfone 8. Decided to unlock right away, then flash E-OS (never heard of this before), and even put in your pocket wrong. And now you want to unlock it again? And let us not forget you're a newbie.
I'm not trolling but next time always read how to revert back or somekind of backup plan when you do some flashing. You didn't even mentioned any way you tried to get it working again.
Guys pls help this poor guy.

hello.
this e/OS (https://doc.e.foundation/devices) is a siple system but fairly new.
yes, that would have been smart with the backup... So with adb I can't get into the cell phone, I can connect with fastboot. this E/OS only runs when the phone is unlocked.. I previously unlocked it with the original tool from Asus (unlock.apk) But if the cell phone is lying on its side in the suitcase and accidentally presses all 3 buttons at the same time, the cell phone will be locked again! I didn't know that... and can you unlock this phone with fastboot? or with programs completely flash on original? Best Regards!
Hi, I can suggest you try the instructions in this post, the install of /e/OS most likely failed and now it doesnt get past the bootloader. The device is probably fine. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/full-recover-to-stock-if-things-went-really-bad.4337467/
worked!
but important! You first have to deactivate the digital driver signature in Windows 10!! otherwise driver fragments will be missing when flashing!!
Had to flash twice, and the procedure worked!
many thanks to everyone!
PS: what tool do you use for your backups?

I personally do not store anything really important on my phone, so no backups apart from Google photos and manually uploading my important files.
