Phone won't update to 2.3.4...not even manually

Okay, I'll keep it short and simple.
1. Got the phone and activated it. Running froyo
2. Rooted and installed CWM with the .bat one click file (I think it's the program MT wrote. It wasn't revotoolkit which I know is thecubed).
3. Realized I want to use gingervolt, so I need to update. I use the .bat file to un-root and go back to stock.
4. Try to manually push the OTA download through settings>about phone. Updates the phone to VS910ZV6 which is froyo 2.2.2
5. Try to update again (need gingerbread, which is VS910ZV7) and it keeps telling me "No new Software Update Available"
What gives? I'm thinking it may have something to do with the root? I also tried doing the manual update, you know the one floating around the internet using a .tot and LGNSP or whatever the acronym is, but Megaupload and Multiupload don't have the files anymore. Right now I'm downloading TheCubed's stock shipping rom and see if I can install it and get the update to go through.
Is there any fix that someone might know of? I ask because I've read several topics where people say they went down to stock shipping rom but they still couldn't update to gingerbread...then the topics just stop. Obviously they found their answer, so I'm hoping someone will share. I NEED TEH GINGERBREAD.

I found that post and I would LOVE to do it, but all the files are gone. Click a link, all of them say "file is no longer available".

Can it change the build version without changing the software?????
Tried to update, no avail. Nothing happens, I just get the "no software available" crap. Shouldn't it atleast try to update the build version? and is there a reason why it changed my build version to V4 but not my software?

Yeah that DLL is a must have. I have it at home and would be able to upload it but not for a couple hours cuz I'm at work. You can try Google but I can't promise that you'll find it.

It may just be an issue with Firefox. Juggernuts was able to download it without issue.

ok so i got started with internet explorer quick question how big is the .tot file??? and then is the dll specific or is it universal with v7?

Three things:
1. I was able to open up that .dll with 7zip. if you right click and try to open with 7zip it wont work. Open 7zip and navigate to the zip, then extract it.
2. You'll have to download the .tot (and possibly the .dll) under IE. The .tot file is 637 megs.
3. The .DLL seems to be universal. Once you open it with 7zip it's the exact same size of the link he gave. I'm 53% into the upgrade so I'll let you know if everything went ok.

20. Choose wipe data / factory reset
21. Prolistyvayem and select Yes - delete all user data
22. Then reboot system now
That's it! Phone is loaded, if you do it right!

Dont exactly know, what it does, but as far as I get it, it roots the device and installs CWM touch.

They patched original 20A bin file , changing system recovery.img with clocworkmod recovery.img touch version.
Download 20A.bin extract it,and put somewhere in your computer.

Download it and put to your Sd kart.Do not extract.
Then simply flash that patched 20A bin file with smart flash procedure posted here from radkor

Ok. Let me try to understand this. They replace "system recovery.img" which is reside in the original rom bin file with "cwm recovery.img" (where to get this file?) and then flash it using smartflash tool. So after reset by smartflah, cwm is already in the phone installed. Then all is easy, proceed to install superuser.zip, etc..etc.zip.
How is it possible to obtain root by inserting cwm in the rom while cwm itself require root to run? Also, what's the "system recovery.img" that got replaced. Is it important?
Please investigate more. Need more info on how "patching" is done too. I don't understand russian.

I guess you need to investigate more how android works. Flashing recovery image with the whole system in a bin file makes cmw part of the "original" firmware so,like recovery that only can erase all this one can read/write in the system files. Sounds normal. I read on Samsung forums that they get root for latest versions by flashing a patched odin file and then a su zip. I will try it

Then we can say that this is universal method as long as cwm can be patch into the rom. Finding exploit is not necessary anymore. So, what's the function of the file replaced in the rom. Is it the original lg recovery method which is not available anymore if this we use this method?

The problem is that we don;t know how to extract .bin files and modify the content. Just the first post has the good link I posted the stock v20B so he would patch it

to get the files out of a kdz: grab them while someone is using the KDZ program to update their phone. The files are extracted and put into "C:\ProgramData\LGMOBILEAX\Phone" but as soon as the program detects no phone the entire directory is blown away. Too fast to grab the files. So either you update for real (in which case you have the time to grab the files) or you create a symbolic link between the C:\ProgramData\LGMOBILEAX\Phone folder and another folder you create say name it C:\test. What happens is that files get extracted and then \phone folder deleted when no phone is detected but the files remain on the \test folder. So you get your files which are a "model.dll" file (in p970 case i guess something like lgp970.dll) and a .wdb file which is the firmware. How to proceed though to tinker further with the .wdb file so as to get bin file and baseband still elludes me

I bet our rom cooker knew how to unpack and repack. So, anyone?

update: doing some research and it seems to extract the bin files you need lgutils and the .dll file you get from the kdz extraction but I am not at home to look into it any further.

Hello everyone, in the last two weeks I was developing a command line tool to extract the firmware of LG phones. (different models)
For now, this tool is able to successfully extract *.kdz and *.wdb files. The tool don't dump the firmware from the phone.
I would like to receive feedback about this tool, if it works or not with the files you have.
Please report any kind of error too.
Remember, this software aims to help the community of users of mobile phones from LG to change their roms in a fast and easy way.
I can't provide any guarantee that the extracted file is 100% correct. So stay tuned in what you are doing, don't blame me.
Basic usage:
Open a command prompt. (cmd.exe or powershell)
Browse to the directory where is located the LGExtract.
Run LGExtract for more information (help).

- would be nice to have a graphical interface, instead of command line
- what to do with the wdb file ?
Ok, another tiny suggestion - how about trying teamwork with the other devs and create a super flash/backup tool, that can backup a phone via PC and flash stock/custom ROMs, while providing a choice of what packages from the ROM to flash

If this tool is only intended to extract .wdb file from .kdz it makes nothing new... I archieved this a lot of time ago but is useless.

2. If you extract wdb files you got the .bin and .cps file! Yeah!!!! You can flash it directly with smart flash tool.

Not working on me eighter. When i want to open, it opens for just half a second and after that it dissapear.

You guys need to use command line. Open cmd and type: LGExtract -kdz "path to kdz file"

It can extract wdb and kdz both.
I'm having problem while extracting .wdb bcoz it asks for FW ver. and dont know which ver I have maybe someone else knows his FW ver so he'll be able to successfully extract wdb

LG utils cant extract the new wdb, even if you pass the correct fw version. The dll that come in the new kdz files dont have the needed functions that lg utils use. And the kp500 dll obvously cant be used to extract other wdb files.

Yes, I can, but just as I said, I need a little more time to do all the error handling at the code. I don't wanna brick anyone phone.
I successful extracted the .wdb from LGP970 and got a .bin and a .fls file.
Then I used the SmartFlash Tool and flashed it at my phone. Works perfect.
The sha1 I got from the file was the exactly same as the "leaked" V10b-724-xxx bin/fls that we got available on the web.
I can extract any version, v10a, v10b, v20a, v20b, whatever
You can get any kdz from here and extract it to bin/fls.
Some phones has different file structures, but 920 and 970 has the same files bin/fls.

He is right, you can't run it with double click.
You need to open a console first (cmd.exe or power shell for ex.)

Yes, I already see LG Utils, I got the idea from there.
But, LG Utils can extract only KP500 and KS360.
I spent some time studing how they do that and I get it...
Now I can use the same idea in all .wdb files
For now it's useful for P920 and 970, because bin/fls can be flashed with SmartFlash Tool.
Others phones has different file structures, for example: LU620128 (I think P930) got a "firmware" file .tot with almost 1,3gb!

how convert .wdb in .bin

what about adding a tutorial on how to use this tool? i already extracted the cab, but now i guess i can extract *.wdb from the cab then use the tool again to extract the bin/fls using: LGExtract -wdb *.wdbpath? is that correct?
nope it doesnt work that way

navossoc have already said that the tool is only extracting kdz for now, the wdb functionality is being revised so he can release a stable tool.
Today, I'm releasing version 0.1.0 of the software that extracts only files *.kdz
I will try release the WDB support as soon as possible, but first, I have to review the code. (I don't wanna brick anyones phone )

[q] flashing kdz problem

HI, SO I HAVE A lg P880 and the biggest problem i seem to have is while its flashing the kdz file its either it hangs in the log, or halfway through installation it says to please reconnect phone? Im trying to use the international phone with wind. Any ideas?

Make sure you have followed guide properly, disable modem if you have it (i kept drivers from root method which doesnt have modem) and make sure Windows enabler is on. Log runs for a long time when I flash, about 15 minutes before it finally reboots

I tried all this but still does not work. it does not matter what type of firmware i put right, because i am trying to install the wind firmware.

Extract the .dz and .dll files from the wind .kdz and flash it with LGFLASH Tool.

put the Firmware kdz in the "kdz-update" folder.
Run "UpTestEX_mod2_marwin" like if you were flashing the phone.
when you hit "upgrade" in the program, it will creat a temp .cab file like "V10x.cab" in the same folder "kdz-update", you need to be fast and select and copy (or drag&drop) that file to other location, desktop for example...
after you get the .cab, you just need to extract the .dz and .dll files with winrar, winzip, or other.

Sprint LG G5 Return to Stock/Unroot (Updated 6/28/16)

OK so although as of the time of this post there is no root but might be at a later date. Here's how to install the ZV3 .tot file found here, and the original ZV4 .tot can be found here. I did test this on my phone before I posted it here.
DISCLAMER: first and foremost, I take NO responsibilities for the possibility of a bricked phone(none whatsoever). if you brick it, it's YOUR fault, not mine.
ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR DATA BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING
now for the fun bit:
1. Download and extract the LGUP.zip file from here as it contains everything you'll need except the firmwares. ZV3 is here, ZV4 is here.
2. To install the drivers for the device, go to the Drivers folder located in LGUP, and select InstallUSB.exe for a 32-bit system, or InstallUSB64.exe for a 64-bit system.
3. Install LGUP_Lab_Frame_Ver_1_11 that is in the LGUP folder
4. Install either the G5x86.reg or the G5x64.reg depending on whether you have a 32 or 64 bit windows installed.
5. Put the "model" folder in the LG Electronics\LGUP folder which will be either in C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86) depending on whether you have a 32 or 64 bit windows installed
6. Put phone in download mode ( Phone off, vol up while plugging in usb from PC), start LGUP
7. Make sure you see a com # and phone model and at the bottom where it says BIN, select it, at which point you should see 3 dot on the right, select it and choose the .tot file listed above, then hit start and wait for the magic.
for those that flashed JUST the ZV4 fastboot file from here and want to go back to ZV3 just follow the directions above and select refurbish just above where you select the .tot file. More information can be found here
I give creds to autoprime for his good work, garwynn for providing the ZV3 .tot file, and Honestly Annoying for providing the ZV4 .tot file. If I missed anyone, I am giving you credits and apologizing now for not mentioning you.

It might. just give it a try.

You only need:
LG USB drivers
LG UP store or LG UP lab
LG UP DLL for LS992
LG LS992 firmware

sorry for the question has anybody successfully rooted the lg g5 and if theres a videos showing step by step on how to do it. thanks in advance

Help me Kdz H860 G5 MODEL WITH LGUP
IT CANNOT LOAD MY MODEL AS I DONT HAVE CORRECT H860.DLL

I have soft bricked my G5.. I was on ZV8..
Now while I'm trying to flash again, this is the error I'm getting If i try to flash ZV6.. (image attached.. Invalid response code).
When I try to upload ZV8, LGUP is stopping at 4% and restarting all the time.. Pls help

Can you pls share links for LGUP & DLL
