So.. I'm hoping someone who is familiar with the hardware in these phones stumbles upon this, maybe Adam Outler?
I've had problems with my external speaker. I went through all the fixes until I finally found this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15648897&postcount=19
This was the only permanent one for me. After I did that, it was working great for a few months. I like to use my phone to play music through the external speaker, and it worked like a charm. Then I noticed the problem starting to come back, so I figured that through use that the connection needed to be lifted again..

I lifted too high on this connection, and basically broke it in half. I have both parts of it, and I'm wondering if any of you guys may be able to brainstorm a way to salvage this. At the moment I'm thinking maybe solder? (I grabbed electrical tape, but I don't think that's going to cut it lol) I haven't soldered before though, but I'm pretty sure my brother has all of the soldering tools.
Thanks for your time guys.
Kinda crazy..
It's working with electrical tape. We'll see how long that lasts.
I just put a tiny piece in between the two parts to give it the space I was originally after, and then an additional piece over the top to hold it in. The speaker assembly sits over it and gives it more pressure, so that helps I think.
However, I'm still very interested to see what you guys think.
Update/ bump:
It's cut out once, but otherwise it seems to be working. I don't know what type of metal is used in that connection, or if it's something that can be soldered or not.
Probable copper

My nexus one (purchased used) has never recorded audio when recording a video. I stumbled across a post where someone had squeezed near the mic and fixed the issue. I discovered exactly what was going on. After squeezing the area around the mic while recording I determined that I may need to disassemble the phone to correct the issue. After looking at the teardown on ifixit.com I saw that the mic is held in by a connector that can be seen through a slot in the back black plastic under the battery cover. I folded over a post-it note pushed it in to the slot and CLICK, the connector snapped back in to place. I also left a little post-it note piece in to the slot to keep it in place. See the attached photo for details.
Please share this with others on other forums if you have seen other threads with this issue. I hope it helps others!

Hi
it s exactly the same for me ....dictaphone works ...all mp3 works but my own videos are as in 1900's : without sound !!!!
i tried (after laughing a lot about your helpful post) with a piece of post it note but it doesn t work still .
i know how i probably broke it : sometimes bootloader was frozen so i had to take off the battery with some hurts (as a torch which doesn t work so u hurt the bottom of it to make the light get back) i m stupid because i should have used a little tool to take the battery off ...
i m trying to install a old stock ROM ..maybe????
thanks to U for this solution ...
regards from France

Since a picture is worth a thousand words, the picture below will explain most of my problem. I'm wondering if any other IS users out there have dirt in the same area pointed in the image? You can only see 3 particles, but in person the whole line between the 2 parts is filled with dirt or something.
If anyone else has had this, did you find a way to clean it? I've tried a needle but even that is too big to get in there. I know it's not much, but whenever I see it, it brings out the OCD in me.
Thanks for any help!

Try with paper, a simple A4 might do the trick since you can bend it and stuff... Usually works for me.

Sorry, I tried it and as much as the thickness is perfect, it wasn't rigid enough to be able to pick out the dirt. So not much improvement
Try a manual air pump brush. Watchmakers use it. Just google the picture of it, you will know what I am talking about.
But watch out, they are small but can provide pressure which can break microphones and speakers if you pump em directly.

Just though I would post a really nice mount that works well with the Note II from any carrier as well as nearly any other phone, Happen to come across this while looking for Christmas present ideas and picked one up for myself and love it so far.
It uses a nice small metal plate that you can put in the back of a case or even a smaller round one that fits perfectly between the back cover and the battery/housing then holds the phone securely without any bulky snap in annoying part. Here's an URL (since I can't post links just yet) to the page for it as well if you want one which I really recommend since its only like $30 and way better than those cheap ones you can find at Walmart or anything you would find for more.

Let me know what you guys think. Hope this helps some searching for some of you!
Here's some photos of it for a quick glance.

THis has been posted before. The problem with this is that its magnetic and will at least while in use cause your spen and compass to not work. Not sure about long term effects , but samsung warns against magnets.
Iphone SUX
I havent see it effect anything while using the gps at this point. Still trlls me where im going and where im at but ill up date if something changes.
And k.0.0.l iphones do sux but why they still post them in photos of stuff I could not say why.

I posted this earlier in another thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1973792
It really is the best universal mount. It does NOT affect the compass because our device uses GPS. It only affects the s-pen if the magnet is close enough to the tip (probably not close enough if using a case).
Like a lot of nexus owners I bought one of those cheap slimline cases off ebay soon after getting my nexus. And like a lot of nexus owners was treated to the corners cracking after about 4 weeks. So after a chunk fell off mine I decided to do something. I had some foil tape laying around the house and decided to reattach the corner and foil coat my case to give it a Chrome look. I suck at crafty things though and didn't have any real tools (just my pocket knife) so it didn't turn out great - but I thought I would post some pics in case someone else wanted to try to save one of these cases from the trash heap.
Edit: will upload pics later - my internet is giving me fits right now.

I completely agree - as soon as my internet allows me to post the pics instead of timing out I will get them up .
Can you please make your signature a bit bigger I can't see it.
+1, with my eyesight I can barely see that
These freaking cases are crap. Mine broke in 5 days without even a drop.

Hey guys!
My phone started having troubles with the touch (how unexpected right?)
Well, the thing is, when I was gonna remove the digitizer connector cable, I tried pulling the black plastic thing backwards instead of flipping it up.
Reason I did this was because I've repaired a few laptops and they had the type of connector were you pull the plastic thing back to release the connector.
The black plastic thing broke off in half so now I can't securely connect the digitizer anymore.
So, question is, can I get a replacement? I took one from another old HTC phone but it's not the correct one. (Lenght wise is correct, but not with the holes for the pins)
At 1:54 it shows the thing I'm talking about.
Youtube link (imbedded link didnt work)
Also attaches a printscreen of it for less hassle.

The black plastic piece that shows is the one I'm talking about!
Better view:
I don't even know the name of these parts so I don't even know what to search for. Please help me out guys.
Probably best way is to buy a new complete connector and remove the black plastic piece and fasten it onto the phones one.
Kind regards,
Tony
EDIT: Note sure if it's the same, but found this on ebay:

Is this the same type?
Nobody?
