Hydra 2.1 - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, I'm on Hydra 2.0b yesterday and on Hydra 2.1 today.
My battery is going down after I flashed the kernel 2.0b and 2.1, I monitored the cpu usage, it's always stucked on maximum. For mine, I set it at 1200mhz. And it always stays on that. Ondemand btw. It's really weird, I have no problems when I'm on 1.7. any help?
Im on asylum's jb rom btw. aokp

can you add screenshot on where you set the speed?

use betterbattery states and cpu spy. .. post your screenshots so we can see what happen..

Is there any downsides with underclocking?

I noticed there is a CPU control in "ROM Toolbox". I was thinking about underclocking it to 1.2 Ghz.
So my question is, are there any downsides with doing this except that the phone getting a little bit slower?
EDIT: Does it matter with what app i underclock? Setcpu or ROM Toolbox..
Stock kernels does not support this tweaks

Im rooted on Speednote kernel.. My bad, should have mentioned it..
Speedmod does not support those tweaks... You need the notecore OC in order to be able to do so..
It's the same whatever app you use.. To change the frequency... Setcpu /etc

I´ve already tried and it is able to underclock, my question was if there are any downsides with doing this..

Why uc it slows performance I would try and find a kernel you can undervolt that will save heat and battery because it useing less voltage
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Put it this way. I am running Android 0.8 with the matching kernel (can't remember name) but that UC the graphics I believe and also has options to have min / Max speeds on CPU.
My Max speed is ALWAYS set to 800mhz. I'll be honest, I don't really notice any massive lag or slow down, the odd moment here and there when loading apps or taking a photo, but nothing major.
Battery life is a lot better when underclocked obviously. Give it a try, you may find it perfect for your requirements... it certainly is for mine.

Underclock under 200mhz has some downsides regarding performance/battery consumprion. U should checj the notecore kernel (hydra kernel) and search in there gavin's explanation

Well, i planing on just underclokcing my MAX speed (1.4 Ghz) down to 1.0 or 1.2 Ghz..

Hi Rivan =) ..if you from some reason just want to underclock to 1.0 or 1.2 you can safely do that with rom toolbox or setcpu. There should not be any downsides from doing it in any of those two apps as far as I know, except for that your phone will become a little slower as you mentioned yourself.

Depends on why you are underclocking.
If you are looking for better battery life then you are better off flashing HydraCore (formerly NoteCore) as this is an undervolted kernel, then selecting a low drain governor using ROM Toolbox Pro.

Any TIPS for JB' PA 2.1 that really enhance Battery????

Okay guys I've had this PA JB 2.1 with hydrocore running. Now I've used hydro v1 and 4.3 and both my battery is not great at all. I've gone back to v3.5 as I was running this one the longest. I have nothing synced at all aand I mainly use wifi to browse watch videos etc. Nothing to heavy at all. My phone has fully charged and in batterystats it says my phone has been on for 20 mins and it went down to 88%! Now is this normal for some of you or is their really any tips that truly work as I love this rom....I've asked before but I just need if possible tips that have proven to work.
Thanks all.

You can change the Governer settings by using SetCpu and make your phone battery friendly.
Here you can find the tips

Thanks for the link...its quite difficult to understand it all. I've got my gov as conservative and the Max freq set at 1000. I saw in the link that's recommended. I dont see friendly in CPU?

You have a tonns of info, how to fix the things.
Check the second link in my signature.
First rule - any "dirty" install can't be counted as an objective reason for complaint. But - submit your BBS dump, as stated in the thread's OP anyway.
i was previously using Hydracore V4.1 with PA JB 2.1 and it has a very good battery life. i am currently on Jellycore V2 with Hydracore 4.1 again as the newer versions of the Hydracore seems to drain more battery so i sticked with the 4.1 version.

Set it to lulzactive with noop scheduler and max freq to 1400...rest of the settings you can apply from the link given above. (For battery friendly)
Swyped From My Juicy Flavoured AOKP JB.
Ive set everything as stated except that friendly bit as I cant find it. The info in those threads are not easy reads for me lol...so I'm not understanding but after an hour of using just wifi to browse the web I've gone down to 79%. Also does having a theme kill battery as I have a theme set?

Is this normal for one?

Well it's simple when I load an app to read or modify my cpu frequencies, every app I've tried shows my min and max frequencies as the same (@1.7), I think this is a bug, I don't think my phone is running at full speed always
Btw my phone is running stock ROM 1.29.1540.17 stick kernel
What do you think?

stock kernel tends to do that. minimum jumps from 384 to 1728. happens to me all the time on stock kernel

But it doesn't means we are running @ full speed isn't it? I don't think so because I got almost 5 hrs screen on and 14 hrs stand by

Mine does the same. I just set minimum to 384 and frequency lock it.

I think whenever there's a heavy load the kernel temporarily jumps the minimum to the maximum. It actually keeps the minimum at 384 otherwise.
At least this is what my research has led me to believe.
Guessing its to make things quicker (like opening apps, waking the phone up). There's no reason to frequency lock it.

Game lag

Hello guys i have xperia z running existence v5 ultra rom and games seem to be.laggy specially gangster vegas and nova 3 why is that? My friends galaxy s2 run them better than i do? If it is because of the full hd display is there a way to reduce the resolution in games?

Its also depend on your hardware.
1.most important is, cpu temp of your phone. Qualcomm s4 save temp range between 0 to 65c. Then it will start to downclock your cpu to 1.2ghz. If u keep playing then it will drop till 700mhz if ik not mistaken.
2. Gpu. Adreno 320 clock at 400mhz. Its also will be downclock to reduce your temp.
3.amount of RAM and total running apps.i know android managing their memory well but sometime this also cause system to lag and etc.
Try to download android tuner in playstore and monitor your hardware status.
Btw, galaxy s2 resolution way too low to compare with our z.so it need less power to rendering at same clock speed with our gpu. Mali400 clock at 400mhz.

Mali 400 in the s2 is clocked at like 266mhz plus i always do a restart before gaming i have set the cpu governor to performance but still lag :/ anw what do you think is the best rom for gaming ? And thx in advance
Sent from my C6603 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Change the governor is not a good solutions. Qualcomm s4 is as hot as its name. Mine always reach 65++ in celcius. Even I change the governor, it will revert back ti normal.

The adreno 320 is 3x as powerful as a mali400, and that on 1080p.

Cm11 CPU problem

Hi,
I have a problem with the minimum setting of my CPU while running maclaw (novafusion) cm11 Roms released after 20 March 2014.
The setting changes itself from 200mhz to 1000mhz. When I manually changes it back to 200mhz, a few moments later it goes back to 1000mhz.
On releases before 20th march, or stock rom this doesn't happen.
First I thought it was the famous 1ghz bug. But a reboot with wifi off didn't solve the problem.
Although when I turn wifi off and manually set back to 200mhz it stays there for as long as I leave wifi off.
Did I miss some specific setting, or am I dammed to stay at Maclaws 20th march release.
I hope someone can help me, as I am eager to update.
Now, I tried both, dirty and clean install.
Gesendet von meinem GT-I8190 mit Tapatalk
maybe try to use a app to change the setting... :/ you could at least try... setcpu can do that....
or another governor and io
They for the tip, but that is what I have already tried.
The minimum setting changes all by itself from 200 to 1000 MHz after a short while.

it happens me too. but it was allways there. before 03.20 after. everyrelease o.o
