[Req] HTC Camera on Cyanogenmod 7.2 - Wildfire Android Development

I am using the Cyanogenmod 7.2. And the camera app is simply horrible. I checked out the many camera apps available on market but none came near to match the HTC stock camera app. This and the widgets are the only reason I keep coming back to HTC sense rom. It would bbe very helpful if somebody could port these to be used in Cyanogenmod. Atleast somebody please port the HTC camera.

Firstly, this is the wrong section and secondly, you can't have HTC Sense stuff in an AOSP based ROM (CM7)

yep, and after making that clear: it looks like many people like the Miui camera. You could take it from the LeWa ROM for example

sure . Thanks!

You can try with UCam

Thanked you by accident.
HTC Sense apps need the Sense framework to work. Since CM is AOSP, the framework is different. So they won't work. Try lgCamera instead, it has a lot more features than the Sense camera.

Maybe an new app who look like htc sense camera interisting ..
Edit:
New release of sense camera for aosp jellybean rom.you have only to port that app to gingerbread and you will have sense camera .

Pushing HTCCAMERA/HTCAlbum into CyanogenMod-6 RC1 ROM?????

ok i really like the NEW CyanogenMod-6 RC1. only thing i did not like was the camera and the 2d/3d album thing(took forever to load and was sluggish. So i pushed the HTCCAMERA.apk to the system/apps folder. i know it was there as i tried to install it from there but it was unsuccessful.
Is there a way to instal the HTCCamera.apk/HTCAlbum.apk into the ROM? i have looked into it already and tried the PUSH thing but it didnt work...MAYBE I DID I WRONG??
ALSO would i need to remove the camera/3d album that it has installed on it?
Since cm6 is aosp you can't load htc sense software on it. Sorry

Are you sure? Ic3Rom was Sense-less, but it had the HTC Camera included in it. Is that because it was still based on Damage and not fully AOSP?

Yes. It was still a Sense rom, just with an AOSP look.
Icerom had sense frameworks which HTC camera needs, whereas CM6 uses AOSP frameworks.

I love the camera in cm6, lots more options? What don't you like? I kind of miss the touch to focus, but I just hold the trackball down and focus on the object I want, then move the phone till the object is where I want in the frame and let go of the track ball to take the pic. Not as cool, but it works

I prefer Sense as well, but being able to freely organize apps on screens, instead of one large list, that shifts when adding or removing apps has something to it. I wish Sense got something like that.

Sense 3.5 vs 3.6 vs 4.0

Hi all,
What the major differ sense 3.5,3.6 & 4.0, can we discuss here. Honestly sense 4.0 shall work on Inc S,no need special dual opt like record video and capture pics at same times. It special hardware cam. Full HD shall work since 8.0MPx.

full hd video works only with dual core proccesor
3.5 and 3.6 are very similar. The only apparent changes are the obvious ics changes underneath and the dock on the HTC launcher
It seems that HTC took out some of the features of ics in sense 3.6
Sense 4 is a huge leap coming from 3.x IMO, has a very different look and function
To me, sense 4 brings HTC sense back towards aosp a bit, it keeps some features on both sense and aosp and brings them together in a kind of unified version of sense

In the past hour ive flashed probs 3 different roms. but i went back to sense 4a, it just looks and feels smoother.
Of course, Sense 4 is better! And actually I think that Sense 3.x was made for Android 2.x, that's why Sense 3.6 looks a bit out of place on ICS. As for HD video recording.. only 720p on our phone. Because of the CPU!

[Q] New member seeking opinion

Hi everyone, I'm a HTC Incredible S user (stock) from Australia that has been increasingly frustrated with HTC support (lack of stock update to ICS due to carrier, Virgin Mobile), so I decided to take the matter to my own hand.
Question been: I have been browsing around the forum for various ROM to flash (read the important notices and all such), but one question come to mind... since I am using Go Launcher (free version, got sick with stock HTC sense) what are the con for said launcher? Is it recommended to replace stock/ROM launchers with it?
Thanks everyone for helping out.
It's up to you, I don't like Sense <=3.6 either.
I think the more popular launchers here on XDA are Nova and Apex.
The cons are that the Sense launcher will continue to use up memory as a system service but that can now be stopped using this.
Launchers are mostly for customization. Go launcher is among the best available to replace stock launcher. If you're going to root your device then you'll have the liberty to choose whether you want a sense based rom or just plain vanilla rom (rom without sense framework and interface).
As of my experience, I'm liking apex launcher for its simplicity and ease of use, but if you are willing to spend some bucks, i would recommend tsf launcher, nice eye candy yet still not a burden to system resources.

+1 for Apex - I like how you can change the name and icon for the app in the home screen among other customisations all for free.
Some apps in Google Play are great but their icons are sh1te
Thanks for suggestions guys! Much appreciated!
Just one more question to ask: which ROM is the best recommended to go for right now? I was thinking Nik's JB ROMs, but half afread the phone might not be able to run it smoothly (store mobile Incredible S with stock ICS update lag like hell...)
Thanks very much.
EDIT: opps forgot to mention, without HTC sense...
Smoothest experience and best battery/performance close to stock:
ARHD or The Second Sun rom
Nonverbose's kernel
ultrasmooth rosie
v6 supercharger
Andrev daemon
Project butter hacks
I agree with markj on his suggested rom and tweaks. If you're looking for non sense rom, give nik's jb rom a try.
EDIT : you tried that, my bad the rom still new, nik will further polish it in the future for sure
Personally, for plain-non sense-ics rom, i prefer icecoldsandwich together with those tweaks (minus kernel) mentioned.

I had the same experience as you when I updated with the OTA stock ICS update... almost hurled my phone at the wall with the lags and rubbish battery life.
IceColdSandwich worked well for me but I'm now using CodeName JB (I like to roll with the cool kids) and both have been very smooth, the latter much more so IMO.
A thing to note if you are snap happy - the camera quality in AOKP/AOSP ROMs will not be as good as Sense ones. Just something I noticed as well as others in XDA.

[Q] How can I get the HTC stock camera app on Cyanogenmod?

I recently flashed Cyanogenmod 10.1 on my device, and I'm interested in getting the One's stock camera app ported over. Any ideas how? I really like the new ROM overall, but the Google stock camera app is SEVERELY LACKING. To the point where there is a blueish hue on the borders of all my pictures (I'd assume due to the "Ultrapixel" sensor on the One). Yes, I understand that I won't be able to get Zoe because its a HTC Gallery feature, but that's the main reason why I want it.
Thanks in advance!
Its very unlikely. Along with the camera.apk the sense framework would also need to be ported to get the camera working. Sense framework does not play nice with AOSP.

Its possible on GPe 4.2, it is not possible on GPe 4.3. In 4.2 they still had the Sense Framework. Also GPe is not AOSP.
