Since upgrading to the official ICS 4.0.4 XXLRK, quite often the OS tells me that 'unfortunately' an app has stopped and then only gives me 'Report' and 'ok' options.
In some cases I can still see the app working behind that message, and in any case I think the OS is to quick to determine this.
Were there a 'wait' option in all those cases (occasionally I get I've, but what determines that is also unclear), things would be ok, but without that option I gave to kill the app and try again.
Is there any option to tweak this feature, like the time before the OS detects a 'hung' app, it that a wait option should always be given?

I think what your experiencing are what mostly called "Force closes" or FC (abbreviated)
it's pretty much common especially when you have your ROM upgraded or updated.
What you can try to do is go to CWM, wipe dalvik, cache and fix permission and reboot. Check if your still getting FC's after.... If not.. .Then its good to go!
It seems to me that the apps are not really hung and thus don't need a force closer. It apparently happens to apps which wait for a server reaction, if the server is just a bit slow.
So if there is a way to tlc extend that timeout..
And no, I have not flashed anything other than an official OTA update and I have rooted my device by installing the superuser stuff
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
Hmm... I'm kinda intrigue on that apps of yours that wait for server interaction... Are you referring those to your emails perhaps? Usually when something timeouts, that means to say your phone has intermittent connection to the internet. I doubt it's on the 'server' part that is having the issue itself. Could be your data connection that times out. That is my own understanding only.

After updating to FRF91, I notice two things.
1) My phone froze at least 3 times since the update when I tried to make a phone call. I had to remove the battery and restart it.
2) My calls are now less clear even with my blue-tooth. When I call someone, they and I will hear static. Sometimes the static is really bad. (no, I am not holding it the wrong way )
Anyone have similar issues?
My Nexus One is NOT rooted.
stock 2.1 to FRF50(manual install)->FRF83(manual install)->FRF91(OTA install)
No issues here. Clean install.
I would agree it seems buggy to me also; it could be the manual update path of updating, but im def getting some wonkyness.
When im on edge at my house, it always seems like WIFI is on demand and not connected (This differs from what my phone used to do and i also have wifi to never sleep); so when i try to access something intially i get a network error then the Wifi connects; then i connect even though im on edge which used to connect albeit slow.
A slight jerkiness when I longpress to remove widgets; don't remember that one previously.
Very erratic battery life; seems to be due to network switching from 3g to edge to wifi; can't really confirm that though; not real rogue apps on my device that are running, but who knows.
Car dock has been giving some force close issues from time to time which didn't really occur previously.
FRF83 more stable
I was thinking of trying to go back to FRF83 as that seems more stable.
I will first try to do a factory reset and see what happens after that.

let me know how that works out; I may do the same. Maybe go back and ota update.
I applied the full FRF85B when I did mine, and wiped cache / format user data from the boot loader. That cleared up issues.
gmail stopped working properly for me.
I have had some issues with my phone freezing up too but my trackball would still flash when i got alerts. I think it might be related to trackball alert because now that I have uninstalled it i haven't gotten any freezes.
I did the factory reset and I no longer have any problems. I am still waiting to see if my dialing still freezes randomly though.

I'm still on frf83 and found that flashing the frf91 gapps has somewhat reduced the freezes/reboots.
My XDA app freezes for a couple of seconds before it responds. Is this app up to date for frf91?

1. Going into Gmail it takes forever to display emails (usually shows the "loading icon" for 10-20 seconds) as if it is only then connecting to the server and downloading new/old emails.
2. Caller ID still does not keep settings when rebooting.
3. Task Managers don't actually seem to kill tasks anymore. Have tried multiple with settings to auto-kill 10 minutes after the screen goes off ... 5 hours later the programs are still running. Obviously just KILLS battery life.

Yeah, obviously, you're using auto-kill, it probably tries over and over and over when they don't actually close.
Stop using auto-kill. Even if it worked you will get less battery life by killing tasks. Read up about it. Only reason to EVER kill something is if it isn't acting nicely and has a bug that keeps using CPU or keeps the phone awake.
Factory Reset works almost all the time
If you got problems after update you should allways wipe (factory reset)
I just updated my UK unbranded galaxy s to froyo (JPO) using kies (no hacks, just worked).
I'm now running into an issue with the notifications bar. It was working, then I went to the market and updated some apps, and now it keeps stuffing up. It starts off working fine then something happens, and after that I try to drag it down and it goes down a few pixels then stops. I have to hit the back button to close it in order to continue using the phone.
I thought it was launcher pro having problems with it, so uninstalled and went back to touchwiz. After doing that, it worked for a little while, but now its started it again.
Has anyone got any advice? I'd rather not have to hard reset if possible...
ps, I tried searching but couldn't find anything
I have the same on my international I9000 (JPO) every now and then, also usually after installing apps. Restarting the phone fixes it, but when it happens it's pretty annoying.
Here's assuming that you, like me, didn't wipe your SGS after upgrading to 2.2? I can't be bothered to reinstall everything right now, but I would speculate that after a wipe the issue is gone.

yeah I didn't wipe it, was really hoping to keep everything in tact, but this is annoying me so I'll probably end up wiping it unless someone has a solution for us
this has also been happening to me, anybody got a fix for it? i wiped the phone initially and then backed up the apps with titanium backup which might also be a reason. hoping theres an easier fix around this though!
So even wiping it resulted in the same issue? bugger
I'm also getting this. I did a factory reset before upgrading, so I don't think that's it.
I've found with auto rotation on and touch pro, you can grab the bar, rotate the phone and it will show you just enough of the notification bar to select what you want.
Is there any way to force close the notification bar and reload it with out restarting the phone?

I've gotten this problem a couple of times too. What's interesting to note is that the bar comes down fully and without problem if you activate it via <menubutton>->Notifications.
But of course, that's not available when you're within another program; only works from the desktop. So it doesn't really make this problem less annoying.

I'm having the same problem with my i9000 with JPM. I upgraded with kies, installed voodoo lagfix and my notification bar freezes every so often. Also screen wont rotate anymore which is a real pain.
I am having the same problem with my galaxy s after upgrading to froyo. I upgraded using the reg edit hack as the phone was branded to 3 in the uk but got tired of waiting for them to release froyo.
Thought it might have something to do with that but i did a factory reset after the upgrade and it hasnt solved the problem.
very strange! any suggestions would be gladly received...

That's interesting because someone told me that installing Voodoo fixed the issue for him. He probably just hasn't run it for long enough then...
I had this, factory reset solved it. Just remember to back up anything important.
Do you have advanced task killer installed? Deinstall it (deactivate also would be enough)and install the version for froyo from the app store that made the trick for mine

Same problem. Usually experience after updating an app from market or when the market app update available notification comes app. I click on it. Usually it is Angry Birds. I don't update that. And then I start experiencing this problem.
Did a factory reset after flashing JP6. No lagfix. No advancedtask killer.
Have to reboot each time this happens.
please test this:if the notification bar is not working start the task manager kill one app after another and test the nb then make a ram clean and test it again
we could find out if an app is a reason(but i can't imagine it could be an app beside of an task killer) so we will have to further search for a reason (perhaps i will find something in the cernel differences (i am a developer but not for android and not kernel stuff at all)but i doubt that one too )) atm i am kind of idealess sorry

I had this exact same problem for a few days. It would irritate the **** out of me. I read somewhere that restarting the phone might work. And it did for me. So it might be worth doing. Just restart your phone, no factory reset or anything, a simple reboot.
I'm not saying this will work, just that it fixed it for me.

I was in the middle of a skype call just now. Skype decided to freeze. Gave me an option of force close or report it. I did a force close.
And then notification bar decided to not work. There was no app running in the task bar so I cleaned the ram. Still didn't work. Had to reboot.

It happens for me with the market as well.
smth has to cause it can u confirm that it does happen in large percentace of cases after force closes or does it even happen randomly? does somebody know a good log programm which we could run on ur galaxys so we can really see what happened right befor the nb doesn't work anymore(i think we need program activity and deamons running......)
sorry for my bad english it's getting too late and it isn't my native language...

it is the notifications that cause it. Skype was also running in the notification bar and market update also comes up in the notification bar. When any of those crashes and are force closed. Notification bar gets screwed.
Anyone else having issues with the Market? I'll explain a little further. Anytime I purchase/pay for an app, it says Completing Checkout or whatever and then Waiting to Install...
I wait. Then I wait. I wait some more. Nothing. Sometimes it says "Please check back when Market Purchase is resolved" or something to that effect. It seems like the purchase never processes in full. On rare occassion it purchases successfully. If I go to the app and try to Install, I get Download Denied or something. Of course, if the purchase goes through successfully, it downloads just fine. It's such a struggle to purchase and download some apps. I'm getting pissed off.
I am having a similar issue whether it is pay or free. Dowloading just stops or install does not complete. No error message just stops. So far not a big deal but reported the issue through market to google (reported as an issue with market) . Hopefully its one of many minor bugs they address soon.

for whatever its worth, the market has been doing that on my other two android devices (vibrant and droid) as well... ususaly force stopping it and clearing cache does the trick, but its annoying obviously. pretty sure its not a xoom problem per se.
Out of curiosity are you trying to download while connected via wifi or thru 3g? I noticed that I was having this problem also but only when connected thru 3g. Wifi it downloads just fine with no problems.
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
i am no longer able to download anything. The market on my xoom is not functional and using the web does nothing. It says it will be installed shortly but nothing ever happens. My guess is because my Market app is jacked.
EDIT: A reboot seems to have fixed the issues. After the reboot about ten or eleven apps just magically installed themselves and the Market works again.
So prior to update i'm pretty sure i was not having this issue.
Now, i'm updated and have not been getting my notifications.
What i have done to see if the issue can be fixed
-reset my phone
-reset the watch
-factory reset watch
-re-install app
After i do some of the steps above it will work but then eventually goes back to the same ole crap of not working. I'm getting a little irritated....
Thoughts?

Try to uninstall any non Wear app, reset and see what it does "clean". I had similar problems any time I used none Wear stuff. It works OK now with only Instaweather and Battery Wear installed. Mini Wear Launcher seems particularly difficult [emoji19]
So are you saying that the mini wear launcher causes issues?
Possibly... Mine works fine without and other threads also mention that they have problems with it. With all the respect for the developers, everything before the 5.0.1 update were more or less hacks because Google never published a developer kit until a few days ago. They all have to update their apps now this kit is available.

Well, i think its a software issue so i am going to do process of elimination by starting to delete apps to see if one makes it stop.
Deleted:
-Rain Alarm: Still drops notifications
-Facer: Pending.......
I would proceed the other way around. Start clean to see if it's really a buggy apps that causes the fault. If yes then install one after the other to find the culprit...
I am now, nothing on it now. Gonna add something every 24 hours to see what happens.

Here should be the fix to this:
Go to your phone's settings, on my Nexus 6 there is a notification tab, you go to whatever your's is called, and find the checkbox to enable notifications to your android wear app. Hope this helps! Feel free to give me thanks.
Is anyone having issues with their notifications not coming through, or coming in super late, or having the same notifications coming up over and over? I'm expecting all three problems, it seems to be happening with every app for me except for calls and text. I factory reset the phone but that didn't fix the issue. If I restart the phone, then all my notifications that haven't physically gone into the app to check start pouring in. No idea what could be causing the issue and it's really starting to piss me off. I have already sent my phone in for repair cause my LTE data stopped working for no reason. I don't think both issues are related as I do have LTE data after they replaced some part.
Would appreciate if anyone has any ideas.
Thanks.

I had notification delays with gmail app, fixed it by turning off battery optimization for this specific app.

Some people may have battery saver on and this may cause late notifications. Also check in settings "auto sync", under accounts. I did have some late notifications issue with Gmail app and do know battery optimization usually is the cause, but it went away in couple of days after I bought the phone.
Thank you for the suggestions. I ended up turning on high performance mode. Let's see if that helps.

How'd this work out for you? This phone is horrible for notifications for me. It constantly doesn't send them until I actually pick up my phone, then suddenly I'll get 5-10 notifications at once. I've turned off EVERY bit of power saving that I can find. I only run in high performance mode 24/7 with all adaptive battery, power optimization, auto app sleep, etc turned completely off. I've also tried disabling all power saving and sleep in the specific app pages as well. I need to be more observant, but I think this is mostly with push notifications (ex, my 2FA app for work) rather than apps with timers to check for updates occasionally. I also have an issue with my wifi disconnecting while the screen is off sometimes which is highly annoying since my home presence detection is based on my phone being on the wifi, though last time it started doing that a reboot fixed it.
Unfortunately, a search proves that this is a widespread issue. At this point I've pretty much given up on this phone and am looking to replace it as soon as I find a suitable alternative. I'm just curious if it's a Samsung issue or a Pie issue that will occur on other phones as well.

Seems to be a general issue with android. Mine have gotten better recently. In addition to turning off battery optimization for any apps I want notifications for, i have done the following:
1. Wiped cache (under settings/app/storage), then rebooted into recovery mode and wiped the cache partition.
2. Gone into the setting and made sure apps I want notifications for are allowed to run in the background (settings/apps/select app for notifications/battery).
3. Allowed to run in background when on mobile networks (settings/apps/select app/mobile data/Allow Background Data Usage.
4. Gone into messages/settings/more settings/push message/changed toggle from "Prompt" to "Always".
Hope that helps.

It's gotten better for me. I enabled high performance mode but I had to keep going in and checking it a couple days after still even though it was enabled. Been a couple weeks now and the notifications I was missing before all seems to be coming in fine now. Time will tell though I guess lol
Are you also having trouble with apps updating? That was another problem I was having where I'd see apps needing to update, I'd start "update all" one app would download and then get stuck at 99% and it would just stay like that for about 40mins and prevent the other apps from updating. Then finally when it would finish the next one would do the same. It would literally take hours upon hours for 12 apps to update when it should only take a couple mins. That issue seems to be fixed for me now too.
