Hi everyone, I have the same problem as shown below, my phone is stuck in lg logo bootloop and the only thing i can do is enter in download mode, no recovery mode, no normal mode, etc. but my usb isn't recognized in windows nor in linux, i've tried 3 different cables and 4 diferent pc's and nothing. could this be a physical problem? i did the steps below.
what i did:
1-uninstalled kies and installed again
2- installed driver again
3-tried on other PC
4-re installed windows seven on laptop
5-changed cable
6-formatted my sgs 2 times
7-usb debugging and other types of connection does not work.
8 - then flashed with mobile odin and it failed creating a bootloop.
NOT ALL DONE ABOVE WORKED

run through the MY Android Solutions link below, have listed all your options therein
thanks but it doesn't work for me, i think it's a usb connector pin problem or something, but i'm afraid of buying one and brake the phone soldering the connector.... any other option to check if the connector is broken?
thanks.
Do you can go to the download mode? Try with odin on PC.

I understand but sometimes you can't connect whit PC but whit Odin its doing. (Sometimes)
Start Odin with Windows and try it.
Very important - your phone must bee on the DOWNLOAD MODE. If its not doing your USB Connector on the phone its defect.
I have same problem having 6 months ago.

Are your drivers installed? Install those, connect the phone so the pc to recognize the phone and begin install of drivers for it. When you plug in the cable be sure to be in download mode, you need the mtp driver to be installed. Remove the fone when it finishes.
After you install the drivers open odin add the files and only after plugin the phone in download mode. It should be ok then.

It's not driver problem. I've flashed with odin and heimdall a lotof times. The phone failed to recognized time ago but when rebooting aleays solved thw problem, not this time.i get error code 43. If i force driver install i get error code 10 in device manager
Try to remove the drivers first. After that close the pc, remove the power cord and hit the on button. It will discharhe any charge left in your sistem (it will reset your usbs). Plugin the cord, open the pc normaly and then reinstall the drivers.
Put the phone in dld mode and see what happens.
Hope u resolve ur problem this way.

Hi Rick. Try to re-install samsung usb drivers. during this time, take out the battery from the phone. once finished installing the drivers, put back the battery into the phone. Go into downloading mode. Fire up odin, put in the necessary firmwares + pit files. Once done, then CONNECT your phone to the usb port of your computer.
Hope it's okay.
Edit: Let's hope that it is the computer usb drivers are corrupted. Alterntively, if you still can't do it, try it on another pc.
Nope. I was rebooting it to flash XXJPC to it, but couldnt do so because it was saying that USB message and wouldnt detect it. So I went into recovery, did a factory reset, and now it wont boot.
Another computer does the same thing *tears*
*BUMP*
Lets try a different route. I will pay a generous sum of money to anyone who offers to and does manage to fix this for me?
rick, looking at this, if your usb is not recognised, it is either the pc or the phone usb port might be damaged.
if it is a hardware issue, then use the bounty to get it fix.
I was at that same point with my vibrant. After failed attempts of getting into download mode using buttons, here's what I did.
Download and install samsung usb drivers and android sdk.
Plug into the computer and use adb to get into download mode (adb reboot download).
Then flash with odin.
Doing that worked for me when nothing else would. Try it ?

Did you install usb drivers on each of the machines?

I installed the samsung USB driver executable. and I also tried to use those drivers that it installs to manually update the "unknown USB device" in device manager, but they won't take.
Try uninstalling all drivers, then stick a MicroSD in your phone before plugging it into the usb.
Assuming you have Samsung Kies in your PC, try to upgrade it at 1.5.1.10074_45.
How long do you wait the boot?? The first boot after flash is very long, wait at least 5 minutes with flashing "S".
I did not just flash anything. My phone got really hot and laggy (as I was using it while charging it via USB port) and so I rebooted phone in an attempt to resolve the lag. when I did, it would not go past the WHITE Samsung Galaxy S I9000 screen, does not get to the flashing S screen.

if i understood you correctly, you have two separate problems:
a) your phone does not boot up
b) your phone is not recognized by any computer when plugged in
could be a coincidence, but probably is not. i'm guessing your bootloader got screwed up somehow. if it is a coincidence, it could be that your usb port on the phone is effed, or your usb cable is dead. try first using a different cable and see if your phone can be recognized by any computer. perhaps then you can go into download mode and reflash.
also, have a look at this post, might help you (although, if your usb is effed, there's not much point in trying any solution that involves your phone being connected to a computer): http://androidforums.com/780720-post3.html
EDIT: also, have your tried the obvious stuff, like pulling battery?
I ve seen many threads with the white screen problem ... it has in most cases been the drivers ... you desinstall all drivers from pc using Kies option for resinstall the drivers ... then you pull the battery off few sec (give it a min or two) then you get to download mode and you flash the beast ... dont connect your phone before launching odin or else it will not be recognized ...
for the few other people who didn't manage to fix it ... it was a hardware failure
That post you linked, is worth a try. But its for a motorola.....Where do I get my SGS bootloader to use instead?
ohh you were implying to try to use the motorola usb drivers?

I never said anything about a white screen. and I am not uneducated on flashing SGS, or using Odin. Far from it. My phone was first showing USB symbol when it wasnt plugged into USB port, then phone started running really hot while charging and got really bloated like it was overheating. So I rebooted and its now force closing at the first boot animation. I can get into download mode and recovery, but will not recognize in any of the 3 computers all running different versions of windows on them, with either of my USB cables that I tried.
I have drivers installed, I've used Odin before but now it won't recognize the phone in download mode. It'll see it when it is on though. Any help??? This happened after updating to 2.3.3 through Kies.
Just noticed that the PC doesn't recognize the phone either now. Must be drivers issue. How do I fix it???

When I'm trying Update Driver Software, windows cant found right driver...
Is it possible, that I something f*ct up at last flash? Before it everything works fine. When I flashed first time, i forgot the *.pit file - odin wrote "failed" - I tried it again, but correctly - everything was ok - I fashed kernel - after that in CMW I Instaled *.zip file with Juwe's ROM 4.3.1 and my phone reboot in landscape mode... and i cant change it to normal mode.
I tried factory reset from phone - there are some red lines with this: tsf format failed on dev/block/mmcblk0p2, but when i go to CWM mode through (volUP+home button+on/of button) and i did a factory reset there - is it without red lines. Somebody ask me if i tried reflash - so i am here with my "driver problem"

I know this may sound dumb, but make sure you are using a compatible cable.. i.e. does data transfer, I bough a replacment cable months ago for my damaged one under the impression it did data because I could connect and transfer to USB (I know this is data)... but kies would not recognize the phone.. I ended up buying a real replacement. Problem solved.
I think, that my biggest problem is cannot connect to kies and odin...
i am in the end... so cabel is the same, i used it when i flashed befor - as i said my problem is in phone, not in drivers or cabels. Is here something to do flash without this drivers?
can you confirm there is no issue with your USB ports on your computer? just seems odd it wont recognize your phone in download mode... you are placing it in download mode when using odin right?
I just did a flash with mine to a stock rom,
Same problem, I can get to DL mode, but it does not recognize,
When I am in the standard Tab OS, with USB as mass storage, I can see if fine.
Odd how it just happened as well. I'd like to follow this thread see where it goes.
*edit reinstalling drivers does not resolve the issue,
- have not tried installing keis again yet though,
- also Odin recognizes it in Recovery Mode
*edit again - sorry guys, didnt realize i was in the i9000 forum, hit this on a google search and replied
I can go to the download mode throught 3-buttons combo - but odin recognize my phone - the same thing is in kies - it's vicious circle - i hope flash help me - but I cant do it, because i cant connect to odin
Unfortunatly I am out of help... I thin kyou may need someone who knows ADB and the phones system internals if ODIn won't recognize your phone in Donload mode... I have had my phone in several bad situations(Fried internalsd/bootloaders) but download mode would always connect me to ODIN..
Last try, try different versions of odin, 1.3 - 1.8 apparently it can be testy with different versions of windows.
Try the drivers & Odin 1.83 from my signature. Works all the time.
Ive got my phone into a boot loop state because I messed up when trying to restore a previous backup of CM7 that I had.
Okay I thought, this is not a problem I will just do a clean flash of something via odin with my phone in download mode. This is where the problem lays. Odin can not see my phone when its in download mode and plugged in via USB! I have flash roms via Odin before so know what I'm doing.
I've tried it on 2 windows 7 64bit laptops and different USB ports but both are the same! could this be a driver issue? I have Kies installed on both and have manually tried installing the driver too.
Other things to note is that I can't get into recovery mode but no problem getting into download. Also when I plug the phone into charge it doesnt come up with the battery symbol but only the circle of rectangles like it is loading the battery symbol which never appears.
Anyone know what is going on?
Sorry for bad english.
I had problem like yours - pc don't recognized my phone (odin too) and shows only battery charge. i tried on 3 different pc's, installed kies, pc studio, drv, tried 2 differnt cables.
And the problem was... Cables

If you are CM7, you may need Nexus S Drivers.
See this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061946&page=879
Download and extract to folder.
When phone connected, locate it in your computers devive manager and update driver and point to your folder where you extracted for installation.
Thanks spaikas!
I guess I will have to go out and buy a new cable to try that. One thing though is that even when I plug it into the mains power adaptor I still get the circle of rectangles as well as when its plugged into my PC (with the supposedly defective cable). So does this suggest that the circle of rectangles is not caused by a bad cable? but still my cable being bad could be a culprit for odin not seeing it.

Hi,
I tried flashing a ROM with Odin to my I9000 today, and in the middle of flashing I received an error message. Once I tried to start it I got a weird logo on my screen with a yellow exclamation mark. Managed to enter Download mode again though.
Once I disconnected the device and tried to connect it again in Download mode, my PC stopped recognizing it - I got "USB Device not recognized" and can't use Odin to flash anymore.
I tried Heimdall on OSX as well but it didn't work either.
Is this fixable ?
Thanks,
George
At which phase did the flashing stopped? Uninstall and reinstall the drivers again.
Since your phone boots to download mode, it's absolutely fixable, so chill!
I've been through this before, and this method worked.
1. Reboot PC.
2. Clear /temp folder on PC.
3. Boot phone into download mode.
4. Connect to PC, so that ur PC recognizes your device.
5. Switch off phone.
6. Set up Odin with all the files assigned like PDA, modem and csc.
*I suggest re-partitioning using 512.pit file
7. Boot phone to download, connect to PC, hit start on Odin.
Done
#if device is still unrecognized, reinstall drivers.
Let me know if it helped.

I followed your instructions & I tried a different set of drivers but I still get Windows cannot recognize your device error.
The error occurred in Odin while flashing the main image (the big file).
Are you sure that as long as I can get to Download Mode I can still recover from this ?
Thanks,
George
Try removing the SIM and/or SDcard before reflashing again with ODIN.
It's a solution I found on the forums that saved my I9000 before.
The problem is that I can't even get to the stage where I'm able to flash anything. No PC/Mac will recognize my device.

Well, I know this may sound weird..
1. Reinstall drivers
2. Detach battery and keep phone that way for 5-6 hour. (I dunno why, but this worked with me!)
3. IMPORTANT DON'T SKIP: clear all temporary files on your PC.
4. MOST IMPORTANT: reboot download and simply "connect" to PC with no other applications running. This time, your PC should recognize your device.
5. Turn off your phone, reboot your PC, again clear temporary files.
6. Start Odin, assign files to respective fields, check repartition. NOW CONNECT THE PHONE TO PC IN DOWNLOAD MODE.
7. After Odin recognizes (that block goes yellow), wait for a minute, start.
##Please follow all the steps do not skip any.
It should 99% fix your phone, if it doesn't, service centers will be happy to help.
