Spme sugestions please? - LG Optimus 2x

I wan't to flash the v21b stock rom for lg optimus 2x, and i wan't to flash a good kernel with it. So what is the best kernel for stock rom? I know HP 2x Extreme but something else? Thank You!

There are 2 frequently used stock kernels, HorsePower and guestekrnL
Try them and find out yourself which one you prefer
HorsePower has more actual builds, guestekrnL's last build is from June.
guestekrnL comes with a more powerful Tweak & OC app than HP kernel does and offers some goodies like (optional) permanent deactivation of second core, auto 2nd core frequencies, an additional faked OC step for lower power consumption and auto brightness level adjustment.
However I tend to promote guestekrnL as this kernel has been made by me. The reason I stopped developing it is that in my opinion it is perfectly stable and low power consuming.
Just try both and find out which one you prefer. for HP kernel also check the latest pages in HP thread if there are any new builds which aren't listed in first posting.

All questions should go in the Q&A sections

Fastest kernel I used!
3400 quadrant, without overclock! Very snappy
Hi,
I'm coming from MCR fr17 Fear Kill edition 10.. it is using the 2.6.32.8 kernel.
My questions are as per below (Sorry I'm new to android devices and trying my best to learn):
a) When flashing a new kernel, I just put it in my SD card and flash it in recovery correct? Or do I need to perform a wipe before doing so? Need to clear any cache etc?
b) For those that have tested this kernel, care to upload the stable voltage for 1000 mhz, 1200mhz and 1300mhz?
c) What if I undervolted it so much that it isnt a stable voltage? Will my phone be a brick?
Thanks to all that take the time to guide a noob like me.

In Pimp my CPU, use the stress test to see if its stable. Use the settings without saving it so you dont boot with those settings. But just to make sure, make a backup of the rom if absolute everything f*cks up.

Currently I cant even run a CPU Stress Test. When I do, the application will be forced closed.
Do take note that I havent flashed in this new kernel yet.. Using 2.6.32.8 atm
I flashed this Kernel with Stock ROM, but I found that my existing Pimp my CPU not work anymore. Please suggest use with version is fine, Thanks.
Same, this kernel doesn't support PimpCPU I believe. Nevertheless, it's the most stable kernel that I've tried so far...
What advantages are their of converting to ext4? Looking for a good kernel current running modaco fr17 will this be ok?

I'm actually not looking for an OC, I was looking for a UV.
Sorry if it is a noobish question but wat advantage does this bring over stock kernel?
Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk
This kernel provides ext4 support. And a small fix I believe. So the advantage is a general speed improvement with phone usage.
Guys, my O2X just got updated (via LG PC Suite) to v10d. I already rooted it, but can anyone confirm if this kernel still works with it?

.
I think you have to define 'best'.
Longer battery charge? performance? stability? higher CPU settings?
Various kernels posted in this site are for various purposes - one or a combination of points mentioned above.
In my opinion the horsepower 2x kernel is the best for gr5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295486. But I think that cm7 is much faster than gr5 even with the horsepower kernel . My personal rom/kernel choice would be cm7 nightly 204 with ironkrnl http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1359307 . Hope this helps
i think the OP mention about the stock rom, not CM. if GR5 then your option with HP RC9 and PP v8.
Hello!
As someone else already wrote - define "best custom kernel".
Talking about oc/uv for stock rom I would say horsepower – especially since it is afaik the only oc/uv-kernel for stock based roms that is still supported/developed.
But if you ask me what is the best ROM/kernel compo – I would say CM7 latest nightly/KANG (i.e. Rustys) and ironkrnL (links already mentioned above).

[Q] kernels, whats it all about ?

Hi all
What is all the kernel talk about ?
I want my phone to run the best...
my current ROM is WIUI 2.1.6
its using swiftkernel, but is that the best ? and whats the difference in all the kernels ?
Thanks to you all, and especially everyone how have made it possible to fool around between ROMs, changed my life for EVER
Here, in this thread you can find links to some kernels. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441725
The best kernel, is just a matter of taste. Some prefer for example Vadonkas KANG kernel above Ironkernel. So, read the threads and make up your own opinion about it and see for yourself which one works best.
Sent from my LG-Stone from the Prehistory....
Naaaahh... Just kidding!
CM7.2 Temasek KANG P204-30
Ironkernel (Vadonkas KANG)
Hello!
As already stated it is to some extend a matter of taste.
And as always - if it ain't broke don't fix it.
If the SwiftExtremeKernel works for you there is no need to change.
But in short - SwiftExtremeKernel (public) development has been abandoned by its dev so its getting old - this shouldn't be a big problem right now, but you don't get all the shiny new things and bug fixes...
ironkrnL has ramhacks if you can live with certain things not operating you gain memory and a lot of speed though this. I use 32MB ramhack where only reboot isn't working - I can live with that - while the extra memory already speeds up things considerably. Its is balanced between powersave and responsiveness - more to responsiveness and really fast and stable by the way...and tun and cifs are available...
vodonkas KANG Kernel is available in a 00 ramhack version and vodonka tries to make a powersave, a extra responsive kernel and a balanced version - more in his threat in development.
But again - if it ain't broke don't fix it...
Thanks for the small lecture and links
now I just need to know what all the different things means hehe
Very useful thread, so I've learned other thinks about the kernel of this device, now I'm using wiui with SwiftExtreme too, and I have a good battery life, but now I want try the vadonka kernel with the cyano kang version.

[Q]Kernel ?

Hi, I would like to know what is kernel, and what would it change in the phone, performance and display, i'm a gamer, so i would like a good kernel for games like asphalt 6, FL Commando and And NOVA 6, and how to install it, i'm using Zeus 6.32n
thanks a lot

I must admit that p970 is not so hard developed yet and as far as im concerned, we havent got any custom kernel for stock-based rom like Zeus. However, Diana kernel (which is used in newest version of Zeus v.36) is best for performance and battery life. As long as someone wont make a miracle, its only-one custom kernel for stock based ROMs.
In addition, it has overclocking and is tweaked for performance, so why do you need other kernel? Try installing newest version of zeus ROM and test if you are pleased with results.
Similar question: So if i install the newest zeus i already have a new kernel on the phone or do i still need to update the kernel? I now have Zeus v7.03 and the kernel version: 2.6.35. Any help is appreciated! Thx

If you install a newer Zeus Version 6.33 and up you have a different kernel that can use lower and higher frequencies. 2.6.35 is the basic linux kernel, alle Diana kernels have that number too. Up too diana kernel 2.3 it seems to be very stable, after 2.3 the kernels are all betas up till now and well beta is still experimental, for some it works well, for others maybe not. If you install Zeus 7.02 or .03 it comes with a beta kernel, but I'm rather sure you can still install the stable Diana kernel 2.3 after you installed Zeus 7.02 or .03.
BTW all that can be read in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454274 , but OK it might take some time to go read that all, but before you ask more questions maybe you should at least try to read some of that thread (first page and maybe about last 3 weeks).

P990 Limtis

Hello! I've tried a lot of custom roms. Right now I'm using stock v21b rom with HP 2X Extreme kernel. I wan;t to push this phone to his limits. (but not for daily use, just I want to try once.) So can you tell me best custom rom, best kernel, best tweaking tools or pack. I want answers if you can really help me, if you have ideas. Thank You!
Then, you should try the latest Temasek 134 build with the symbi0sis v1.1.2 kernel. It goes up to 1450Mhz...but dont use that high OC all day long because your phone will cook in your pocket
Sent from my Optimus 2X using xda premium
have tried succeeding upto 1.4 with Django Manouche 1.5 stock based + Supersonic Kernel...but as the previous post says...cant handle it for a long time but the battery consumption also goes up.
I need a stable device...so back to 1012 and I personally feel that it really gives no advantage or benefits, just a feeling of triumph for a while
dont need so much tweaking tools just temasek 134 and symbiosis thats all because in my experience i try lot of tweaking tools and it became not stable as i want it to
just try gueste kernel d and overclock once to 1.5ghz max and min1ghz for a little time else you wil get a hotpants
