[SIGN] Motorola Triumph + Jelly Bean = Good for X6 - Huawei Ideos X6

Not sure if guys saw Motorola's Key Note yesterday but they are basically upgrading all 2011 and 2012 devices to Jelly Bean, or giving you a $100.00 credit to buy a new Motorola Phone if it can't run Jelly Bean. As we all phone CM10 does run on our phone, and so does CM9. I was floored to see the Motorola Triumph was listed on the sign up sheet. The weird thing is it was listed as "Motorola Triumph/ Other Carrier". Everyone knows the Motorola Triumph is only Virgin Mobile. However our phone has many sisters Cherry Mobile Magnum HD A400, Spice CSL Mi 410 – Slim, WellcoM A99, CSL Blueberry Mi 410, X6 and of course the Triumph. I urge all of you to sign the petition as this could very well effect all of us. If just one of our phones received Jelly Bean it should give all developers a chance to port the newer kernel and newer libs for all branches of the phone.
Thanks for taking the time!

Who would sacrifice a little for the future of our phones. :highfive::good:

No i don't think that's what you have to do. You registered means you signed up on motorola website, there it is clearly written that the said proposals are for us users of moto only, moreover you do not have triumph. What you need to do is to sign the petition, which i haven't found, if you find then share it.

You are correct that it's just for US customers however I figured the fact it listed other network has to mean other networks with fb0 devices right?!?!? all I know this is a significant opportunity for our phones to finally have some updated libs and hopefully a newer kernel, and figured it wouldn't hurt for you guys to sign. It may not be morally right but is it morally right Motorola still has our device shipping with Android Froyo 2.2? Thanks for everyone that has taken the time to sign! Hopefully we will see Jelly Bean, and hopefully we can all benefit from it!!!

I have signed & urged all fbo users to do so. Hope for the best...

Ics?

Has anyone seen any news on weather or not we will be getting ics for our DROID 3? Not cm9 but the official. I poke around twitter and google but can't find anything new, its all outdated.

Motorola does not list the Droid 3 on any of their roadmaps...it is like they just forgot about the device.
I would not hold my breath but at this point there is no official response in ether direction.
We are all waiting for Motorola to issue some updates... I think they are going to make the announcements all at the same time, of which phones will and won't make the upgrade.
D3 is in good shape though, it runs almost the same CPU and GPU as Galaxy Nexus, just has half the memory. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

I remember seeing somewhere that motorola is redoing their software update page on their website, I know they are working on it as we speak. I would hope that it's soon, I remember google saying that the updates should be quicker with ICS but saying and doing are two different things.

Even if Moto and Verizon don't officially give ICS to the D3, you can bet that shortly after they release it for either the Razr or Bionic that it will be ported in it's "blurred" setup to the D3.

Keep in mind that if they don't release it for the Droid 3, the "ported" version based from those won't get the new kernel that those devices get along with their ICS upgrade...
If they release just one of the phones Hash supports for ICS with a camera, that is all we really need anyway.

I wonder if they had to build their new blur before making the actual ICS builds for their phones.
Still I'm happy that they have at least acknowledged that the D3 might get updated to ICS maybe someday possibly a remote chance.
Interesting...the Motorola Razr is in "Development" status but the Droid Razr is still only "Evaluation and Planning" stage....
Verizon must be a big part of the problem....as even the 3G Xoom's are "Evaluation and Planning" while the WiFi Xoom already has it (and non-us WiFi are in Development).

I noticed the same thing... It looks like for the first time Canada might be getting something quicker than the US... (At least in the RAZR ICS upgrade department).
All I care about is that the RAZR upgrade code leaks so that way we can get the cameras working within CM9, then maybe I'll jump ship from stock.

that still really doesn't help as Hashcode has pointed out the dependencies the ICS camera has on the ION driver inside the ICS kernel....which are not present in the Gingerbread kernel that will still be running on the Droid 3 with CM9.
These dependencies won't go away on a Razr ICS camera....as the kernel will be getting updated along with the OS when they push it out.

I agree. All Verizon dual-core phones - even the Bionic, Razr series and D4 - are the same status. I think that Verizon's approval process and bloatware install requirements have become too unpredictable to allow for a definitive upgrade period.
It wouldn't surprise me if a working ics blur rom existed at moto and was stable. The hurdle has always been verizon. I can't understand the forced bloat concept considering most users don't use it and will root now to rid themselves of it.

New leaked dates for ICS

So I just found a leaked screen shot of Verizon's upgrade schedule to ICS!
http://www.ubergizmo.com/2012/04/verizon-ic-update-schedule-leaked/
So the HTC Rezound should get the OTA next week on May 9th. The RAZR and RAZR MAXX will be getting the OTA in three weeks. But no mention of the Bionic... Oh yea, they decided to give us the .904 update while they finalized ICS for the newer phones. We just got shafted again.
Then again, its tough to know what is actually going on because they have to keep everything confidential. I doubt this would be case but if VZW and MOTO were having issues with ICS on the Bionic, I would have no problem giving them more time to make it right. But from what we've seen, it doesn't appear to be that innocent.
You do realize that we are a low priority because the phone isn't selling well, right? RAZR's the front-runner, making it a priority. We'll get ours by July, if we're lucky.
And yes, I am being a little pessimistic, but Motorola and Verizon need to step up their game already. Moto's making too many devices and Verizon's forcing bloat too much. That's what is slowing us down.
re
I don't understand what is really taking that long. Development will continue on the latest and greatest but that doesn't mean we should get the shaft. I picked the bionic over the thunderbolt because I like the slightly thinner phone and longer screen even though it cost more.didn't think I would be buying a dead phone in terms of development. I should have just got the razr
I have Rooted 904 update Safestrap dual boot eclipse 2.2
My view is the Bionic is a phone they would prefer to forget. The Razrs are the hot phones so they get the priority. Maybe I woukd complain much more without ICS ROMs available.
It's interesting that on Moto's site the RAZR's are all listed as ICS upgradeable but the Bionic is not.??

That's the full site. It says RAZR. Read the spec's on all the phones and Bionic does not have 'ICS Upgradeable'. I think we're getting swept under the rug.

Guys why is this even a topic. It's been confirmed we are getting official ICS by several sources along with moto. The ICS source code was released a little over a month ago, that helped out the devs. We have a solid device for the price and we have devs good enough to keep us happy and get us through until mid to late summer when we get the real thing.
ICS source was released 6 months ago. That doesn't help matters since we don't have an official release, an unlocked bootloader, or a real ICS kernel, however.

Sorry no, I appreciate the effort but this has been covered countless times and you should really look at the ICS thread which is stickied!. The ZTE was launched a few weeks ago with ICS, it was decided that the fact it wasnt based on the Star platform (LG phones!) that it was useless and even the way they implemented ICS was poor so nothing at all to learn. This was confirmed by a EB dev unfortunately, and many people before like Ricardo at some point and he is pretty much top dog in terms of getting an official response .
However a different point is that out of all the devices that were launched without ICS this is the first to get it, it makes sense that Nvidia must have finally given out the required documents etc to OEMs as they are all around similar time frames, Paul at Modaco has just said it is in testing and due soon and he has sources at LG along with him being a respected dev, not the crap media reporters like GSM arena who spout random poop.
So yes it looks like we will get ICS within the month since you showed that the Samsung has now got it, the Samsung Galaxy R/Z is due soon as well so its all happening now . Samsung have a bigger dev team and havent had to make massive cuts so its understandable that an LG release will take a bit longer.
Now long now!.

The exact ZTE you mentioned, the ZTE Mimosa X... please just google it or follow this link : http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-phones/zte-grand-x-review-50007061/ there are alot of other sites covering this device and it will be on sale at virgin UK shortly.
And yes I have read this whole thread which is why I decided to reply, you are interested but unfortunately this is stuff we cant use to our benefit, we have to wait for an LG optimus phone with a t2 SoC to have hope, basically it needs to be LG star... theres more to a phone than just the SoC drivers.
The only importance about this leak is that Samsung now has a ROM for Tegra 2 based on ICS, this means that the drivers are finally being used by the OEM and implies that since the rest of the industry has taken along time that they will be nearing completion as well, we know that the o2x rom should be out fairly soon so its a question of when not if anymore.
TLR It cant help us, we need an LG phone with tegra 2 SoC to even come close to helping but best bet is to wait for O2x ICS which is on its way .

Before the end of the year - but they don't say which year. I expect the Razr M might get it before the i, as there is talk of soak tests. Being Intel may delay things a little but no one has had any conformation as yet. Not much help

I don't think Intel delaying anything. Intel published x86 jelly bean image early September.
Jelly bean for x86 is ready... It's now only a mater of Motorola to integrate it.

A new 4.1.2 log showed up today and its definitely a testing build... I'd say it's possible for the end of the year for an update, but it's more reasonable to say early 2013.

GOOD NEWS! - Reply from Motorola Brazil
I just spoke with Motorola Brazil and they representant just told me that Motorola is already updating the devices razr I and HD to jelly bean, in a random way.
I asked confirmation and he confirmed as we can see in the print screen (it is in portuguese, if someone does not believe, try to translate in google translator).
Hopefully, Motorola will surprise us.
Cara na boa. Ta meio enrolado esse update.
We wait a long period for this. Is this moment nothing in OTA. Wait...Wait..

quick translation:
- how may i help?
- is there any precise date you can give me for the release of JB for the razr I?
- Motorola has already made it available for this model, however, it is being done in batches OTA, i ask that you wait for the notification in your device
- for the razr I? really?
- or the razr HD?
- JB has been made available for the razr I and razr HD, it is predicted that it will be available for all of the razr line till march/2013
- but i see no one talking about JB being available for the razr I online, only for the HD
- when i try it myself, it says there's no update
- is there a faster way? through legitimate channels?
- as i said it is being done in batches OTA and is not available on the motorola web site
- i understand
