XAP Encryption - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Themes and Apps

Hey guys, its been while....from the BA  days. I think I have 15 of those things laying around!
Anyone have a solution :fingers-crossed: yet for the XAP Encryption that M$ turned on back here...
The threads have been either deleted or moved!!!
I have the HD2O_2.02_8779 and Pdaimatejam Rom 7.10.8779.8 v8.1 roms loaded on 2 different HD2's. And I cannot load any xap's on either. W.I.N.C.O. fails, Bazaar fails, my own ftp site fails....any xap I try fails.
If no solution is out there yet, how is everyone sideloading xap's? Or aren't you side loading....??
Is the only solution then as of September 7, 2012, to contact M$ and get a code??
Thanks ppl and keep up the good work. :good:

yes, is exist new way to avoid new encryption but is forbidden to talk about piracy on XDA, that is reason way all topic is deleted...
contacting Microsoft and getting Live activation code is unnecessary to have Live services and working marketplace on HD2

Thank you dxdy. Understandable

I still have an issue with free apps. Maybe I'm just not understanding the issue here.
If I use the W.I.N.C.O. app on either my phone or the desktop version to search and download the following free xap, I can see the xap in its perspective filder but when I try to install it, I get an error. "error while opening file"
If I search on the phone using W.I.N.C.O. and find the same free app and try to install it through W.I.N.C.O. I get the error 'not supported for this OS'
Can someone shed some light?? dxdy?
Thanks to all of the dev peeps!

you cant use old tools anymore....
for free stuff from Marketplace activate Live services with Live activation code (ask Microsoft support for it, if you dont know how look in my tutorial from signature)
for other's look in PM....

I'm new on WP7. Can I also get a PM about these methods for "other" apps?

Java for Gmail application

First, I really have done extensive searching and can't seem to find the answer:
I have ATT Tilt with new ROM (1.62). Is there any Java update/midlet that will allow the Gmail app to be downloaded and work on my device? As it stands now, it won't even download from the Gmail site.
Thanks in advance.
Java
I would recomend esmertec java.
You can find it out there, it is not free ware, but since your phone probably came with it like my tilt from att, so licenseing shouldn't be an issue.
Threre are wonderful people out there that have taken apart roms and have all applications that came on the stock rom.
look here and good hunting.

I think I have read every thread in this forum having to do with trying to get the Gmail Java app to work. There are folks that say "Gmail works for me", but do not give any details as to their device, version, or other particulars. I have yet to run across a thread that succinctly explains how to get the Kaiser/Tilt to properly use the Gmail Java app. This is surprising to me because I am utterly impressed by many of the people on this forum and what they do. Much of it is beyond me, but I do enjoy the forum very much and have learned quite a bit from it.
Gmail being as popular as it is, I would have believed that one of our "geniuses" would have sorted it out by now.
Maybe soon???

Last time I checked, GMail is not working on WinMo phones at this time, Google even has it as a known issue and has not been able to fix it
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=52870
hope this helps
Why don't you just check your GMAIL through the Mail application included in the ROM? Or am I missing something?

Please, which Java are you using? Do you have a link?
How about including some links to the app to make this post? Please update the first post with the download link and findings to make this post more usable to all.
Thanks!
I just use the regular mail application... but I assume he is talking about this GMail Application go to the link with your phone.
Im about to check it out and see if its any better....
Going to http://gmail.com/app installs fine if you have Esmertec Java 20070802 installed. If you don't have this, you can search for CloudyFa esmertec jbed to download the cab.
*Edit* spoke too soon. Gives me an error message about this program requiring a data connection when trying to refresh or download mail. I'll play with it some more...
me too
mine was doing that yesterday... uninstalled then went back to www.gmail.com/app (on my phone) reinstalled and now everything seems to be copacetic
Have you tried this ive been using this with gmail and aol
http://www.seven.com/products/consumers/index.html
just use midlet manager

never tried it on that one, but im sure it will work
IBM
hello guys, i looked into this thread earlier and tried to get it to work on my device. esmertic java didn't work for me, so i got the IBM Java Virtual Machine, i installed that first then went to http:\\gmail.com\app and downloaded the app and now it works perfectly and the app is really great. you can dowload the IBM jvm from here.
I think there's something wrong with the .jad file that we get from gmail.com/app. But you can get the actual jar file at http://www.gmail.com/app/v1.0.0/en/gmail-g.jar
Download it, transfer to sdcard and run it (install), make sure you have java installed... i'm using cloudyfa_esmertec_jbed... it work great...
i have v1.5 jar link, but eventually lost it... still searching through google.. or perhaps somebody could help...

That direct link is a good find. But, you're right, they are up to version 1.5 now. Would be great to find that link.
Here it is: http://gmail.com/app/v1.5.0/L1/gmail-g.jar
And here is an older version: http://gmail.com/app/v1.1.1/L1/gmail-g.jar

I received this email from IBM:
Thank you for your interest in the "Websphere Everyplace Micro Environment" (WEME), the IBM Java ME solution (NOT JavaSE). For small volumes business deployments and individual copies for personal use, the IBM Java ME virtual machine (WEME) may be purchased from our business partner, Handango for $25 USD. All of our Java runtimes that are available from Handango are Java ME certified and we provide solutions for various Java ME profiles and operating systems.
IBM no longer provides free evaluation or trial copies in the open on the IBM web site or IBM Direct Sales. It is only available under IBM SWG OEM Contracts.
i use esmertec's java and downloaded gmail's java app and its been working beautifully for a long time. definitely would not use the pop process, as you'll get a new email whenever you send emails as well. quite annoying...
gmail mobile
HELP.
Att Tilt. I am too newbie to put all the threads together. If someone could walk me thru all the steps I need to take to get the gmail mobile app to work and also after its downloaded is there a way to shortcut it to the home/today screen. I've got the HTC homescreen and the other one. I found this link on the gmail help site:

Phone does not support java? Need help

Hello all,
Sorry for posting out here in the open but I need maximum exposure, I'm leaving here in 3 hours and I need to get this application loaded onto the phone.
I've tried a few different roms, currently got v19 pdacorner. No matter what I try when I try to load this application it is coming up with an error message from the company's website saying that the phone does not support java.
Is there any way to get around this?
The application is from a betting website, sportingbet.com, a few of us are heading off for the weekend to watch a match and I would really like to be able to have this working on the phone.
Thanks
*Thread Moved*
I'm guessing the site has a Java Applet, try using the Skyfire browser, I can't remember if it supports it, but it's the best chance you have.

The site sends a link to the phone where you download their software from but this error keeps coming up as soon as I try and download their application.
I tried skyfire, getting a different message now about restricted access, I take it that it doesn't like skyfire.

there will be some substitute for adobe flash player in windows phone

I've been looking for the application but still have not found either in the market place, if someone would kindly tell me where, as in most places says not available for windows phone, in advance thanks for your answers
As is stands, the reason that you cannot find an application is because no application exists.

Where can I find .XAP decompiler for phone 8 ?

I've been searching for .XAP decompiler/disAssembler (to do reverse engineer) for phone 8 xap files. I've seen that the new .xap files are not longer simple .zip/.rar files. They have something more.
In short I'm asking something similar to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1443692 for phone 8 . Does anyone know any (free) tool which can help me out ?
Could you please attache XAP? I'll investigate it.
Sure
Please see the attachment.
It appears MS have encrypted XAPs now - this has a PlayReady DRM header:
Code:
<WRMHEADER xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/DRM/2007/03/PlayReadyHeader" version="4.0.0.0"><DATA><PROTECTINFO><KEYLEN>16</KEYLEN><ALGID>AESCTR</ALGID></PROTECTINFO><KID>w3i0edJP7EOqQ6aQzdAoSQ==</KID><LA_URL>http://microsoft.com/</LA_URL><CUSTOMATTRIBUTES xmlns=""><S>9FcV5qmfIsMc+X2MVmX3Hw==</S><KGV>0</KGV></CUSTOMATTRIBUTES><CHECKSUM>Hu3+fizBvKU=</CHECKSUM></DATA></WRMHEADER>
So, does it mean I'll never be able to decompile any .xap ?
XAPs downloaded from the Marketplace are encrypted starting sometime in summer last year. That was also the time when devices that had not installed the WP7.5 update lost access to the Marketplace.
So unless you know the decryption key no: you won't be able to decompile XAP files downloaded from the Marketplace. As for XAPs you get from a Dev directly or created yourself - those should still be in the same ZIP-Format as before.
if we get admin access on the phone we can make the phone to decompile it for us and then make an unencrypted version of the .xap

And how can I get admin permission on my phone win 8 phone ? In other words, is it possible to get admin permission on win 8 mobile ?
@shek007
WP8 is much more secure than WP7. So it will take much time or never to hack the OS.
Regarding the xap decompile, it seems you are insisting on 'hacking'. That is a bad behaviour, trying to steal other's logic/data If it's your's or friend's .xap, then you'll get access to the code. Otherwise you have no right to decompile the code if it's not yours or the others didn't provide you access.
Anyway, you got the answer back then: no, it won't work.

1. No one knows what "win 8 phone" and "win 8 mobile" are. Never heard of those.
2. Go somewhere else to discuss theft.
narrowing the subject to "theft" is not appropriate as when one wants to make out the most of some applications.
Examples are: Decompile the Field Test app from nokia to see the internal API calls to the radio module in order to obtain RF related data, such as cell ID, MCC+MNC, Ec/Lo etc..
using this API calls we can make Apps for RF field engineers to test the network performance and signal levels using the Lumia phone.
This functionality is well known on others smartphones but lacking in Windows Phone platform so far.
Another example will be using multiple whatsapp accounts in the same phone ( another functionality from other mobile platform missing in WP)
As far as I understood the security architecture not just any App would be able to access those APIs even if it knew about them. It requires special permissions and I would guess that at the moment those are not available with a regular Developer Unlock.
As for decrypting the file or gaining access to the phone and extracting the data from there: WP8 security has not yet been broken. There might be people working on it but for now we know of no way to do it.

1. Yes. No one knows what win 8 phone is.
That is why YOU are on this forum thread., because is called just like that. "Windows Phone 8" looks similar to windows 8 phone. Or not.
2. " Windows Phone 8 Development and Hacking>> Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting" is the name of this thread. So, where else could discuss hacking windows 8 apps.
You just needed to post something.
I just needed to reply (two years later), so I joined to forum.
BTW are there any new tools for decompile xap files?
Please don't necropost!
Posting here rather in a PM in the hopes that others will see and remember...
You just posted in a 22-month-inactive thread. This violates a near-universal guideline (sometimes rule) of online forums: do not post in dead threads (common called "necroposting"). Your post added nothing of value and effectively constitutes spam, as it brings a thoroughly outdated thread to the top of the forum list. It's much better to create a new thread (linking the old one, if you feel that will help) as then people who read earlier posts in the thread but don't notice the datestamps won't be seeing stuff that is years out of date.
While I agree that the person you responded to was being needlessly pedantic, it does seriously annoy some members of the community to have people screw up the name of the OS. Win8 and WP8 have about as much in common as Mac OS X and iOS; that doesn't mean it's reasonable to say an iPhone runs "Phone OS X". The fact that there existed a legacy (and *very* different) OS called Windows Mobile (or WinMo), and that people routinely seem to think that WP is just the continuation of WinMo (it's really, really not), is a large part of why some folks stomp on people who use the wrong name for the OS.
Decompiling apps is easy. Breaking PlayReady DRM is really, really hard. There's no decompiler anywhere I know of that can take a DRMed XAP and decompile it. You'll have to get the app without DRM encryption if you want to decompile it.
PLEASE DO NOT POST ANY MORE IN THIS THREAD!

[Q] How to get back the Lumia (appx-apps) that MS has pulled from the store?

EDIT: I have found some apps at the link in post #2, but only XAP-apps, not APPX-apps like StoryTeller.
I am testing WM 10 TP on a Nokia 1020. I did a hard reset yesterday just to discover I could not longer install the Lumia apps (Refocus, Storyteller etc.) that MS discontinued earlier. Sysapp Pusher does not help.
My device is interop unlocked and I am able to deploy "unlocked" XAP-files.
The problem is that I can only find decrypted files for the Lumia apps.
Even though these are free apps I guess it's not allowed to discuss how to decrypt or "unlock" the XAP-files.
So I would be very thankful if someone has an idea how to get the apps back even if it means reverting back to 8.1.
(BTW It's unbelievable stupid of MS to pull some of the few unique and really useful apps before having any replacements.)
check some here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/windows-phone-8/apps-games/xap-applications-available-store-t3187520
Thanks,
I realize now that there is a Windows 10 Mobile forum here, I just didn't see it in the forum overview. So this question is kind of missplaced.
I have now found some of the apps I was looking for but only those that are XAP-apps. Do anyone know if it is possible to backup APPX-apps from the phone and reinstall them after a hard reset?
