If i install this v20q rom in my o2x, shall i be able to use lg tool for update the firmware when ics will be launched?
Im on cm7 right now and when i connect lg tool it recognized the phone and shows an update(2.3 rom) available but it can not connect my phone thenafter.
So just wondering if i will be able to use lg update tool again ever???

If you use this ROM V20q, you will have to try, if the update tool works. I find those LG tools are working randomly.
If you cannot update and want stock ICS on your phone, restore with Paul O'briens Smartflash, then you erase all traces of rooting your phone!
Cheers
Mike

On the other hand, will the stock ICS rom be as good as something like the hybrid Temasek rom anyway.
If we had the drivers for the video chip (and HDMI?) it would be perfect. As it is it's still better than stock in every other way.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using xda app-developers app

i seriously think ics wud be better than the customs...atleast they will be bugfree and as u know stocks roms r always better user friendly then the customs.
Im using temasek rom and symbiosis kernel at present. Will be back to stock gb in a few days

If its rooted then it has clock work mod recovery install, so just install rom manager from market and select reboot into recovery, have the custom rom's zip copied on your memory card, then after rebooting into recovery do wipe data and reset then select install zip from memory card and select the copied .zip file and it gets install new rom. Zeus is good custom rom, marvel v7 is also good

I think that you have not quite understand.whichever rom you are going to flash has a specific base.for example zeus has 2.3.4 v20o as a base.when you flash it your phone will have 2.3.4 v20o as a base.what you had before is irrelevant.since you flash a different based rom your firmware will change.take a look at the noob how to that i posted above.it refers to kernels and bases.if you flash nova rom for example then you go back to 2.2.2 froyo.if you flash miui you have 2.3.7.it foesn't matterwhat you have now.try to find some things on your own because we went way off topic and the moderator will close the thread.search is your assistant.

once youre rooted, it dosent matter what base youre using..... cos when you flash a rom you flash together with the base so it changes your whole phone software..... so its no problem switching between bases, you can even flash back froyo/ donut and go back to gb if you want.... but make sure you do your full wipes...
for roms, once rooted, only the type of device is specific.... type of base is not....(unless specified)
eg. you cannot flash an ics rom made for htc evo on your OB but what you can do is flash any kind of rom with any kind of base which was made specifically for OB

As RomWiz said your only option is to flash a stock rom(v20s is the most stable and fluid). If you want custom roms like Zeus , Marvel , ICS etc you must root your phone :good:
well thats it , flashed a rooted v20o and installed zeus v7 rom ,, thanks alot guys ,, oh by the way whats the difference between v20x and v20c and all of these ,, i know u can jump from one to another but what they meant for
They are originally different firmwares for different countries, some vary in bug fixed, that's why people recomend the v20s, it's the lastest

Use mv flash, back to GB and them use nvflash another toolkit with cm10.
But a good idea is, that if you don't know what or how you want to do something - don't do this.

I think the big difference is that ICS uses a different bootloader to GB and CM10 uses the GB bootloader so the link that lintz posted will work and so will an Nvflash to a GB rom.
Example of a GB version http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1504280&page=27 check out post 267.

some questions about root,roms etc.

Hi guys,my uncle has i9000 international version running android 2.3.3 stock rom but it slow.
1.Can someone give a link of a tutorial how to root and install recovery like CWM or TWRP?
2.What are the main bugs with ics and jb roms?
3.What is the best recovery?
4.What is the fastest GB rom that has no bugs?

Hi cistamlaka, be aware that it is your uncle's phone, not yours. So I would be very careful on rooting and upgrading to a different rom. If he is on a stock 2.3.3, I think (because I had it) there is an update to 2.3.6. It fixes a couple of lags.
If you root him the phone and push some new rom onto it, he might be confused because he will lose the TouchWiz and some applications. Check first with him, what applications (and if some Samsung-made) he uses and if he is okay to change the looks of the phone.
Isnt it right that he has only to download a file and change it to "update.zip" to flash it via stock recovery? A friend of me needs that file, is it the same to use as on sgs plus (i9001)?

Going back to V20S from V30A ?!

Hello,
The first two days, the new V30A was fun to use BUT now it's a real pain, it is slow as hell, the worst are all the internet browsers that take ages to load and show the keyboard after 15 seconds or more when you try to enter text, it's laggy it's ridiculous.
How can I go back to V20S with Smartflash ? Will the partition be created automatically ?
Thank you. :good:
Jst smart flash v20s but then u again need to root n put cwm.......or jst do nvflash from this link

hey guys,
you dont need to smartflash, then root and then all that grandma stories
just search for Homero's clean V20S CWM rooted NVFLASH ROM and then it is all done with one nvflash....
Thats it guys....clean and simple....KISS....keep it simple and straight
Hope it helps
I have this doubts
Is the smartflash the same as the kdz software update tool?
if is so I just have to flash the kdz I have from my carrier like I have done many times in order to get back from the v30A?
I would like to go back to my carrier`s one since It has the only baseband that doesn't give me trouble so I don't care about flashing cwm again
I thought that we could not get back to a GB rom when we've installed a ICS rom ?
So, if I flash my phone using Smartflash, it will do it all automatically ? (i'm talking about the partitions issue) Thanks
i guess you're using stock V30a from LG update tool right? why don't u try some custom rom b4 going back to GB. I'm using TG ICS rom v30a and it's awesome :good:

Can't I go back to V20S using Smartflash ?!
My phone was unable to enter sw update mode so I flashed a 10b firmware using the emergency procedure ( vol up + vol down mode ). I was back from 28e. The SW update mode ( smartflash compatible ) was working again so I flashed the 30a kdz.
